Exhaustedly, Adarsa made his way back to the faire, and Tuesday. She was standing there, the spaceship having settled itself into the ground. The other thing- whatever it had been- just a dark smear of tar and mud on the sand. He struggled to catch his breath, eyes flicking between Tuesday, and the robot thing.
He swallowed, and did the only thing he could think of- toss the pokeball at the robot thing.
It gave a low, mechanical moan, shuddering worse as Tuesday did the same, but finally settled, flashing as both glimmering pokeballs fell the the sand, full. Adarsa paused, though, waiting for something else terrible to happen before creeping forward, retrieving the pokeball. He held it up at Tuesday, almost accusatory. "What- what is this?"

Adarsa groaned, and elected to remain laying on the ground. Whatever was going on, with Tuesday, with the blob, with the rocket- He just realized that he wanted absolutely no part in it! None at all! This was terrible! So, he laid on the ground. Which was nice- much better than whatever was going on there.
And then- the shrine felt weird. Adarsa jumped to his feet, drawing back as if struck in earnest- but the shrine was still, the lightning only a phantom. Unnerved, he edged away, and went back to where Tuesday was waiting.

"WHAT?!" Adarsa shouted again, like an asshole. Whatever- Whatever Mars was trying to say was kind of not important right now, because they were being murdered by a giant airplane and a big blobby guy, who was looking less and less people-shaped by the minute.
The claydol thrummed, managing to twist free of the celesteela, body screaming a protest against the world as it lunged- not at the celesteela, not at Tuesday, not at anything- but at someone.
At Adarsa.

Adarsa blinked at Tuesday, trying to parse her words over the roaring of the seventeen planes that made up the robot thing. "WHAT?" He shouted back, uselessly- but he didn't need to answer with his words. The sad, pathetic little 50 above his head was answer enough-
No, Tuesday, I have not upgraded my Tall Grass HP, despite everyone I've met saying it was a good idea to do first. In fact, I do nothing that anyone tells me to do, because I'm a prissy bastard who likes being difficult.
The Celesteela screamed again, throwing itself into the Claydol once more.

Adarsa huffed, pleased with himself, and turned to look at Dahlia- only for something to slam into the back of his head, sending him toppling to the ground.
Dahlia, wings flapping in agitation, did not care about his potential brain damage.
Adarsa groaned, holding the tender part of his skull, pulling his hand back to look for blood- only to find snow on his hand. Snow... It had started snowing. Adarsa blinked, distracted from Kazuki's violence, and looked up- only to yelp, ducking and raising a hand to his face. It wasn't snow- it was ash, dark and caustic, acrid where it hit his throat. What- What was going on?
In a cruel trick, he stepped onto another digging spot in time with the evil, stupid music.

Adarsa groaned. He was on reduced, right? Dustily, he flipped open his UI. Yes. Reduced pain threshold. So why did it hurt so much? It felt like he'd been hit by a truck.
He'd never been hit by a truck, but this was probably the amount of pain someone would be in if they were. Gingerly, he got to his feet again, dusting himself off. Maybe- maybe he could wait a while, before going back. Mars was strong and capable, wasn't he?

Adarsa staggered, feet landing in black sand, and then Tuesday is shouting at him, and the big robot thing is screaming, and the mud guy is also screaming, and it’s all too much. The creature writhes, pinned by the Celesteela’s arm, corruption spilling from its eyes like a fountain, seeping into the sand and earth. It hardens, a mass, the Claydol pushing itself forward, as if to drown them all beneath.
The Celesteela did not seem to care, either for Tuesday’s attack or the Claydol’s, tilting itself to ram the Claydol directly into the food stall, worn wood and stale treats flying outwards. Adarsa cried out, leaping to try and dodge away from the chaos.

Adarsa sat up with a jolt, sand spilling from the folds of his clothes. He got to his feet, brushing sand from his hair, pulling it from his eyes. That thing- what even was that? That wasn't a pokemon, surely? Pokemon were- were cute little creatures, not- not a robot thing? He blinked, squinting at the sun, and pulled up his UI- Hesitating.
Teleport to friend?

Adarsa froze, because what else was he supposed to do.
Tuesday stood there, on the other side of the counter, ponytail whipping in the breeze. The claydol, weeping Corruption, continued to drag itself forward.
And then, the terrible sound of jet and flame, of sand melting to glass melting to air particles. Something absurdly massive move forwards, steadily and unerringly, towards- towards the food stall. Towards them. And Adarsa could only stare at it, unable to coax his body to move.
But before it could crush him, it plowed directly into the claydol, a massive explosion of sand buffeting the entire rotted fairgrounds.

The ground opened up beneath him, and Adarsa screamed. He landed awkwardly, legs crumpling. "I- I- What the fuck!" He cried out, pushing himself back to his feet, hands full of grit. Dahlia, with a loud bang, slammed flat onto the ground next to him.
And then, of course, there was something else.
"Present?" Adarsa echoed, finding the thing in his hands near-instantly. It... looked like a Christmas present. A pretty nondescript one. Adarsa shook it, and held it up to his ear. He didn't hear anything, but... He looked at Tuesday first, as if gauging what Mars would do with a present. And then he saw Kazuki. Adarsa squinted, drew back, and hurled the package at Kazuki's head.
Not that it would do much- he knew what was in Himura's head. A fuck load of nothing.
Dahlia, meanwhile, kept at her digging.

This still wasn’t the feather! Adarsa frowned, pouting like a child. This was unfair. He needed it. And it wasn’t showing up for him- Just everyone else at the event.
He hefted the pickaxe again, eyes scanning the ground for any sort insight or hint- But it was dark, and all the ground looked the same. So, he…
He picked a spot at random. What else was he supposed to do?

Adarsa looked blankly at Mars, and quickly shook his head. He didn’t need to see it- he heard it. The scrape of something hard and massive over the worn sands. There was a bit of a question there- Are you going to look?- but Ada just keeps shaking his head, shifting to press his back against the cabinets, back towards that awful, terrible sound. He grabbed whatever was closest- a tray of some kind, for food- sharp words scratched into the plastic.
Nothing is ever black and white.
Yes, great, wonderful that didn’t help at all.
The creature out there scraped on the sand again- it was a massive, brown mass of clay, with bulbous arms and a wide head. Eyes ringed it, big and red, all open, searching. And all weeping, dripping caustic, black tar ooze. It groaned- a terrible reverberating sound- drifting almost idly towards the little stall they’d holed up in.

Adarsa had the whole of his attention on Dahlia, humming gently to the background music as he wiped her little face, unconsciously swaying in time with the beat. "There you go, sweetheart, isn't that better?" He cooed. He heard the dingy-noise, and glanced over at where his pickaxe was laying- Another fossil!
He scampered over, and picked it up- and frowned at the shape. It was an oval, with a band. It... kind of looked stupid, to be honest. Why were all the fossils here... bad?
At least, until his eyes flickered after movement- and some kid unearthed a fossil, a striking, beautiful feather, preserved perfectly. "Ah-" Adarsa's head snapped, looking at Tuesday. This- whatever that fossil was-
He needed it.
"Stay put, Dahlia-" He said, scrabbling over to grab the pickaxe. Dahlia, however, did not listen, slowly wiggling forward, and pitching down into another dig spot.

Adarsa looked sidelong at Tuesday. "Slow down with what? I'm not doing anything." Aside from looking at the fossil in his hands, slowly turning it this way and that in the dim light. "I- Mars, I think this is... um, fake. Like someone planted this." There was a spot on the spine where it went from tiny bones to. Big ones.
Thia was... two animals.
"Hmm?" He followed her gaze regardless, to Dahlia, a bit of paper stuck to her face. "Oh, sweetheart-" He cooed, pulling it off gently. More... useless stuff. Great.
CDs and paper and fake angel fossils. This whole thing was beginning to look like a scam. (Please pretend that was a cat pun.)
Adarsa huffed, tossing the pickaxe to the side, where it cleared another tile.

Adarsa frowned, stooping to pick up the... CD? Were there even CD players here? "TM?" He echoed, confusion on his face. What was a tee-emm? His gaze flicked to Tuesday 's patch of ash, blinking. "Is that a fossil?" He asked, sounding almost... giddy. "Let me see it!!"
Dahlia, left to her own devices, slowly eeked forward, flopping down heavily on another dig spot. Adarsa was oblivious- so this was her item, now.
