Before Rose really knew it, or could stick her hands into the ant soup, the Pinsir returned! And he was real nasty!

The dirt erupting from the ground as the Pinsir dug had trapped her Caterpie for a moment before he forcefully climbed back out. Even Rose had to run as fast as her little feet could carry her as razor-sharp spikes rained down from above, some of them piercing her Pokemon.

And then, it attempted to slice off the head of her Caterpie in one fell swoop.

"Winnie!" Rose shouted as he got tossed back, his armor slightly cracked, protecting him from the worst of damage possible. She was quickly running to his side, only for the Caterpie to just stand back up to his feet.

"I, am Wynebgwrthucher... A knight of the Circle of the Canopy, and thee overgrown beetle shall never pierce thine will. Thy bite is as feeble as an overgrown worm, have at thee!"

"That's the spirit!" Rose didn't understand half of what Winnie said, thee and thine, it all went over her head. But she watched with pride as her Caterpie charged in. "Winnie! Show that buggy we bite just as hard! Bug Bite!"

"Behold, a bite of a true champion! Submit defeat, knave!" He leaped forwards with all his might, biting down hard onto the leg of the giant Pinsir, anger fueling its attack.

"Woooo! That's my Winnie!" Rose danced happily as her Caterpie attacked, running across the battlefield to not stay in one place.

Of course, maybe she was safer sitting still, as she ended up falling face-first into a web, getting stuck instantly. "Agh! Spider! I hate Spiders!" She struggled for a few seconds before noticing the Spewpa, and let out a relaxed sigh. Not a spider. Good.

Still, stuck here she was a sitting duck. And as much as she wriggled, she couldn't quite get herself free. Worried that the Pinsir might turn around and come for her next, the Repel bottle at her hips was grabbed, and quickly sprayed. "Go! Shoo! Bad buggy! Run away from the stinky smell, hehe. I bet you, uh, would be a coward if our bugs were as big as you!"

"Quick!" Rose began, covered in gross mud from head to toe as she trudged shamelessly through the dirt after just swimming through the tunnels. "Follow those wormies!"

"Trying!" Cheese suddenly spoke up, her Electrike standing proudly as it attempted to push against the wind being blown their way. "Birds are nasty! Nasty things! Birds should be above ground!"

"Yeah!" Rose replied all frustrated, shielding her face from the rocks flying as she kept very low to the ground. "Show them why they should have stayed there! Zap 'em!"

"Gladly!" The Electrike howled, the sound echoing through the tunnels as they let loose a Thunder Wave, attempting to short-circuit the Pidgeot and make it easier to actually push through.

Everyone had been so nice! She met that lovely lady from the Rookery again and absolutely rambled, making rather hard to understand words in between her eating. "Egg- good! Haven't-" She shoves another spoonful into her mouth, grinning so wide that cheese spills out, and the only intelligible words are "-name them Cheese!"

Wynebgwrthucher just sighs, and just quietly eats his food until it's ready to set out again.

Pinsir was tracked, and so they all headed out once more.

Rose carried her Caterpie friend on her back, the child much faster than the caterpillar-like Pokemon on foot. That didn't mean he was all that happy about it, however. The child stopped and stared at everything, from the gashes on the trees to the suspicious-looking trio of mud puddles that seemed to repeat. The child was smart enough to pull up the actual Pokedex and check out the footprint of Pinsir to confirm it.

No amount of fear from the giant bug returning stopped her from jumping into the footprints and making mud splashes every time, however.

Seeing the massive Durant swarm had Rose giggle with glee at all the bugs, and she spun her arms with excitement. "Oooh, we get to help the bugs! Ants are cool! The ants in the backyard fight the other ants all the time, it's really sad, but it's cool! It's like Pokemon!" The child speaks, completely ignorant of the real, brutal war of the ants.

Rose happily waddles up to the tree stump and climbs up the edge just enough that she could barely reach over top and dump in her jar of honey. "Mmn! Like Gordie Ram-man says, Delishimo! Or something."

"... I don't think that's a word." Her Caterpie says, getting bored of the Durant's potluck and slipping away for a moment.

"It is too a word! The man on TV says it!"

Ignoring his trainer's cries as she dances around the tree stump, Wynebgwrthucher goes about examining his fellow bugs, but he can't help but overhear Gil's fears, about not being big and strong, and it irked him immediately.

"My good sir," Wynebgwrthucher immediately began, crawling over towards the Wimpod. "Size matters not, for it is the giants who fall the hardest. Our size is our advantage, and I firmly believe that you are braver than you know."

"Huh?" Rose turned around to find her bug Pokemon speaking to the bandana guy's Pokemon, and just smiled widely. "Hey!" Rose shouted, interrupting the moment as she attempted to get orioncayge 's attention. "Can you please lift me up? You got them strong arms! I am too short to stick my hands in the ant's soup and stir by myself! Help please!"

Someone should actually keep her from sticking her muddy hands into the drink, actually.

Fending off the big bug boy was more fun than she had realized! Her Caterpie upset, and a little muddy from her grip, rested on her hair as she had waddled into the camp, looking at everything with wide eyes. This was absolutely so cool.

She took one look at the armory, saw the Caterpie armor schematic, and smirked up at Wynebgwrthucher. "What are you overly excited about."

"We can match!" Rose immediately began to participate in the crafting minigame, giggling to herself as she got everything ready.

"Oh, hooray. Besmirching my image. I deserve royalties-" He rambled about lost property rights for nearly a solid minute, all things that went right over Rose's head. In the end, the two of them were decked out in some cute as heck Caterpie Armor.

The alchemist workshop was also intriguing, and so they happily picked up a few of the untested vials. Although Rose turned up her nose at the mustard-smelling honey ladle. She was such a picky eater, after all. "Uh... Just the Honey, and Repel please!" Something to attract bugs, and something to get rid of them seemed smart.

"... Chicken."

"Shut up! You eat the sticky mustard!"

The Caterpie took one look at the ladle, watching a gooey drop fall. "... Nevermind. Let's just go. Go get some actual food."

Following her nose, Rose ended up in the long tent. The food was huge! And people were drinking big mugs of something that smelled really, really gross! But the huge portions immediately made her smile grow extremely wide, getting the Mushroom Mac and Cheese. Without a care in the world, nor knowledge that there were mushrooms inside the dish, she began to devour it hungrily, sharing a plate with her Caterpie that ate at the table with her with noticeably much smaller bites.

It was then that she met orioncayge again, and her smile was beaming. She was a bit of a muddy mess, and now her face was covered in cheese sauce as well. "Hey! Bandana man!" Apparently, that's what she had remembered him as. "Moab is doing good! Real good! He's very happy we get to conker the world now. He said we get to destroy math together! I love them. They're my buddy. I'd bring them with me but they needed a buggy, and- and-"

She was clearly rambling, happy to have someone she recognized along for the ride. "I don't know what the foods do! But mmmmmmm! It's so yummy! I wish mom made this in real life! She doesn't cook anymore, but- Aww, poor guy." She'd interrupt her own self, looking up at Gil. "Eat up, little dude!" She'd grin like a mad child, holding out a spoon full of macaroni and devouring it.

The camp was lovely! Rose couldn't wait to explore it, but unfortunately, there was a big ugly bug blocking the way. Its glowing horns seemed to fire some kind of wave that knocked her Caterpie aside, slamming them into a tree.

"Oh no!" Rose ran as fast as her little legs could carry them over towards her Caterpie. He was already moving, apparently quite angry at the concept of such a rude beast striking without warning. "Winnie, are you okay?"

"It's Wyne- nevermind!" The Caterpie exclaimed, climbing up a tree. "Just get to safety! Allow me to handle this crude fiend!"

Sure enough, Rose trusted her Pokemon. She ran, diving into a nearby mud puddle to hide. Smearing the mud all over her face, and limbs. It was messy, but she liked messy!

"Teach you to blast me, you overgrown flea-" Her Caterpie mumbled to himself as he climbed the tree to a branch above the Pinsir's head. When he was distracted from being attacked by another Pokemon of their group, His sticky feet grabbed onto a vine and bit it loose, sending him swinging through the air!

A powerful String Shot fired from his mouth, attempting to trap the Pinsir in place, hopefully causing it to fall and hurt itself!

He'd swing back and forth a few times, attempting to cover the Pinsir with as much of its sticky webbing as possible before flinging off the vine and stumbling back to the ground near Rose.

"You did it!" Rose whispered with a wide grin on her face, reaching a hand out.

"Eugh, don't touch me! You're filthy!"

"I don't really understand half of the words in this letter." Rose frowned to themselves, staring at the message in their inbox.

Of course, her Pokemon couldn't see her UI, but the general message seemed to get across. They were reading something. She was squinting, staring ahead at some words apparently unseen.

Not that the Caterpie cared much for the child's shenanigans. And yet, they still sighed and acquiesced as the child just continued to struggle to read. "Sigh," He said, actually saying the word sigh instead of sighing. "Spell it out for me."

"E-n-t-o-m-o-l-o-g-y." Rose pondered obviously confused, continuing to stare at the letter.

"... Entomology? You mean, the study of insects?"

"Ooh! Bugs! Right! They mention bugs later in the letter too! They need me to bring a bug!" She giggled excitedly, glancing down over at the Caterpie.

"I suppose so? Wait, what are you doing?! Unhand me you madwoman!" The Caterpie was suddenly lifted up over her head and ran towards the docks as fast as her little legs could carry her. "This is no way to treat Wynebgwrthucher! Soon to be the mightiest knight in the lands-"

"Quiet Winnie! Or whatever you just said! We got a quest!"

Wynebgwrthucher the Caterpie has joined the brawl against their will!

"See!" Rose shouted with giddy glee, arms outstretched as she ran through the sparse canopy trees. "Told you I was fast!"

"I can see that! Slow down!" Sprigatito shouted back in response, eventually catching up to them. "You're going to run into something!"

"Nuh-uh! I can dodge! See?" She bounced around a tree, causing the cat Pokemon to have to reverse course to follow them around the other side of the massive tree to keep them in their sight.

Only to find the little girl stuck in some weird string-like webbing.

"Ewww!" Rose fought to pull it out, but it stuck to her hair. "What is this?"

"It's my string!" A voice suddenly came from above, proudly standing tall. "And you're in my trap! Have at thee!"

"Ahh! A battle! Ooh!" Rose shouted, finally yanking from the string as her cat approached to defend her. "Spreeg- Aww forget it, Bite them!"

"With pleasure. But I did warn you, run into something we did." The Sprigatito rubbed their paws together, before pouncing up the tree, jaws at the ready.
