Furrlicity almost resents this tree now.
Yet he still visits it to heal. A game mechanic that can't be resisted lest he be a heretic; to crawl to one of the other shrines so soon feels blasphemous.
He presses his hands together and gives a little prayer in his mother tongue. A promise to restore this place to it's former glory.

"Aw, man..."
Yggy trudged into the clearing, wheeling her fainted Cyclizar beside her like a bicycle with a flat tire. The reptile's head lolled, its scaly legs dragging on the ground behind it. "Crap. I mean, hoop."
She looked up and saw Ascended Moltres.
"HOLY CR-HOOP!"
Awestruck, Yggy stopped dead in place. Uh... should I kneel or something? Something knightly? Awkwardly, she tried to get down on one knee to show respect and accidentally pushed over Cyclizar, who fell with a clatter of plates and wheels. "U-UHHH..." She froze, looking guiltily up at the giant, rainbow bird in the tree.
Moltres didn't move. Her head remained under one technicolored wing, her breast rising and falling. That probably meant Yggy wasn't worthy of a blessing, but Yggy didn't think of that. She just let out a breath of relief. Phew. Okay, now just gotta touch the tree, get the heal, and get back.
Lost past were the days of angsting and worrying over her fainted Pokemon. Stats were just numbers. Ones and zeroes.
Yggy fuzzed around the edges, pixels blurring her form, and touched the tree.

<'What? What happened?'>
"Hmm... Let's see..." Muin sighs, a hand tracing some of the scorch marks on the tree. "You engaged in a fight with a small Cottonee, it beat you up until you had no Health Points left, and then I brought you here so that could be healed. Yes, that sounds about right."
<'What? No way! Pfftt... I'd never lose to a Cottonee. I was totally... ugh... going easy on it! Yeah!'>
The Gardener rolls his eyes, but he chooses not to keep arguing with the small vulpine. Instead, he simply grabs Fern (who wiggles in his grasp) and puts him on some of the tree's embers. As expected, they don't burn the Pokémon. They heal it instead.
Oh, but aren't they also supposed to pray?
Strange, but he'll bite.
Muin's hands clap together, and a short prayer of gratitude is spoken to the enormous Moltres that rests on the tree's upper branches. ASCENDED MOLTRES is what it's name tag says.
"Thank you for your blessings, Ascended One."

Sarah and Focus approached the shrine. The newly evolved Braixen looked around with wide, Summer eyes. "I can feel it!" she exclaimed.
"Shh!" Sarah nodded up at the massive form of Ascended Moltres that rested in the branches of the Shrine. It was asleep, or at least resting, with its resplendent head tucked under one wing. The pair approached the base of the shrine.
Sarah had decided to wear the feather cloak. Some may consider it gauche to wear an extravagant coat made from the feathers of one you seek favor from, but Sarah thought of it as a show of respect. Respect for the awesome power that Moltres had shown during the raid. This bird was the spirit of war on UNOVR, and she was here seeking power in her next battle. The next important battle.
"Moltres. Spirit of War. I come offering a prayer for strength in the battle to come. The battle for the Precipice Crown. I don't know what form the battle will take, but I would be honored by your assistance."
She unclipped her cloak and laid it out on the dry foliage. Then the retrieved the Moltres Egg from her inventory and wrapped it in the black feathers. She laid the bundle at the foot of the shrine, and wished for an answer.
Moltres shifted in the branches above. Leaves and feathers floated down, and Sarah let one of the gleaming, sizzling feathers land in her hands. "Thank you Moltres. I will not forget this."
"Psst!" Focus said, trying to get Sarah's attention as she pointed to a fallen stick. "Do you think that Moltres would mind if I took this stick?"
Sarah glared at her, and Focus snatched up the twig and took a few measured steps backwards.
"Again, thank you Moltres. Your favor will be remembered, and returned a hundred fold."
Sarah picked up the egg and carried it away from the shrine. "And you will grow as mighty as your Mother," she whispered to the egg. It felt warmer already, sizzling and steaming with the promise of future conflict.

"Woo! Back again!"
After the whole thing with the Tropius, Yggy popped into the Birchwild shrine to heal up Dingo.
"Man, we really gotta work on that Fire Fang."
Ever since they'd run into that creepy Exeggcute in the jungle it had felt like she'd been cursed. Maybe she needed an exorcist, not a shrine.
She did her whole awkward bowing-and-kneeling thing, grinning foolishly the whole time and looking around to see if anyone was watching her. Haha, they better be pretty impressed.

Praying by a tree feels right with a name like Muin. Sticking to aesthetics, staying on theme, etc. All that much is indeed true, but what is also true is that the Noonlight Shrine with its sprouting new life will never cease to be impressive.
Especially the Moltres that sleeps on the tree's canopy, her flaming feathers shining in a million colours with iridescence.
A hand gently touches the bark of the tree.
"Moltres, I request of you to please grant this Rowlet that is your kin the wisdom not to keep fainting in battle. Thank you."
<'Hey!'> The Rowlet in his arms exclaims, woken by the shrine's healing just in time to hear the prayer.

Her head tips back, admiring the Moltres perched in the tree. Her lips part, words failing her for a moment. Surely it is something wise, something so grand, to match this moment, this atmosphere.
"I don't think that's the bear we're looking for."
Despite its gentle warmth and beauty, the Noonlight bears the same oppressiveness to it that the Precipice wields. An inescapable sense of time, of an infinity that she is but a speck of. To every shrine, Cleo has been nothing. Olivia would have to get in on the teams that worked on the shrines. She has been nothing, but perhaps the next one, she could lay her marks on. Maybe sneak in a part of herself, carve her signature into the geometry but smooth it over in the texture. Her fingers trace through a groove.
Overhead, leaves hum, wind rustling through them. A flower drifts past, away, out to the edges of the field. She watches it – passing her, passing Jinx…….. Jinx. Right. Places to be.
"A prayer. Um." She bows her head, the rest of her palm flattening against the tree trunk. "Please, uh, grant us some luck in our bear hunt, ma'am. It'd be real nice. Thanks."
She rocks back from the tree, checking her status. All healed up.
She beams over at Jinx. "All good to go!"

For better or for worse, Jinx was starting to take the majestic beauty of the shrines for granted. They had awed her at first, but after a few visits, they were just a particularly useful bit of scenery to her. Only Cleo's reaction reminded her of how awesome, in the original meaning of the word, this place really was.
It was pretty awesome in the more common modern use of the word, too. Who couldn't use free healing?
Cleo's words, though, reminded Jinx that she had more to do than just stand around gawking at the shrine in front of her. They had bears to hunt! And Cleo was right, the Moltres in front of them definitely wasn't what they were after here... so after a brief, silent word of thanks to the shrine, Jinx nodded and went along her merry way.

Celastrina stood before the ancient tree, unsure what to say. That was definitely a Moltres up there, wasn't it? Fixing her gaze on the legendary bird, Rina walked towards the tree. "...Good day," she said. "Um... my name is Celastrina. Celastrina Nestlewood. And I've come to ask for... your blessing, I guess. On my journey." She reached out to touch the bark of the tree, letting healing energy flow through her and into the Poké Balls that held her companions.

Verai had heard of a shrine, nestled deep in the woods. He wasn't told what to expect. Was it a building carved of stone, a rock older than the land around it? A place where an honored creature had been born, or the quiet spot where it laid in rest? Regardless, before they had set out proper, Kitten and Kitty- and the cotton, by extension- that they needed to be quiet, and respectful.
He could have expected a tree, especially one as ancient and everlasting as this one. Verai stood back to look at it, quiet and reverent, and slowly moved to approach the thick, worn trunk. He reached out, resting a hand on the trunk, and offered a silent thank you to the tree's guardian. Litten, not wanting to be left out, pressed as close as she could and pressed a paw to one of the roots, mimicking the action.

The noibat was too tough for her little fennekin. She put up a good fight, but the bat was just too much. Despite doing her bet to put on her usual placid expression, a sadness was in the woman’s eyes. And curled up in her arms, a snoozing injured fire fox. Each inhale and exhale was rigid, once beautiful orange fur covered in dirt and dried blood. It pained her to see the fox in this condition, never really putting much thought behind the damage done from hard fought battles to pokemon in other games.
This was a long trip, and a pitiful one at that. At the same time, it was one the woman should have probably done a while ago. Pale golden orbs focused on the ancient tree before her, adoring the golden light that put a warm feeling upon the location. The place was absolutely stunning, breathtaking in so many ways. It was just a shame that this place was were injured pokemon were taken too.
Strolling up to the shrine with her head hung low, her gaze lifted to the tree. Rhaentra took in a deep breath, dropping to her knees. Shifting the fennekin gingerly in her arms so she could hold her in her palm, arms extended out to present her poor little fox. “Izumi lost a fight against a wild noibat,” the wolf hybrid explained for no reason, a guilt in her tone as she spoke, “Can she please be restored to full health? I’ll appreciate it.” In her hands, the fennekin’s down ears lifted to the voice of her trainers. However, she was too battle worn to do much else. Again, guilt stabbed her virtual heart.

<'We could just ask one of your friends to help us search, you know?'> Ever as prone towards socializing as all of Muin's Pokémon seem to be, when they find themselves stopping by the Noonlight Shrine yet again, the Rowlet continues her apparently ceaseless attempts to make him interact more with others. The complete opposite of what Muin wishes. "What friends?"<'Uhmm... I don't know. ibis?'>"No." The response comes much quicker and much sharper than what he had intended, which will doubtlessly cause Nin to raise some questions. More than that, Muin is also overly aware of the presence of the slumbering Moltres on the tree, who is probably having a field day with this ridiculously conversation. Soft pink hues colour his cheeks. He's aware of it, but he tries to ignore it when touching the trunk of the tree, inhaling deeply. "Listen, Nin... Say I'm a lone wolf or whatever else, but I'd rather do all this alone. I enjoy things more that way."<'Alone alone?'>Eyes roll. "No, obviously alone with my Pokémon. Come on, we have more searching to do."

It was holy here, at the base of a sacred tree. Were tall and powerful trees not always the basis for civilization, the place for ancient fires of life to roost? Tiernan approached the Noonlight Shrine with reverence, steps measured and head dipped. Fal'inrush was carried in his arms, the rowlet singed and scraped, eyes inky and watery, but still defiant.
"It's alright," Tiernan promised, smoothing down some errant feathers. "All is well." He offered a prayer to the tree, its guardian, and the grove around- and thanks, for Fal'inrush, and the wide wings that protected him. The tree was quiet, and still, but the answer was in the wind itself, and the way Fal'inrush seemed to sigh, just a little bit, in slightly more comfort.

Verai could have gone to a different shrine, but he knew of this one- It felt appropriate, in a way, to take Kitten back here, especially given the new friend she'd made. "Come on- I'll show you have to pray here, too." Kitten remembered, not having to be shown, eagerly pressing a paw to the trunk again. The torchic was... a little more difficult, not having proper hands, but... Verai picked him up and let him press a taloned foot to the tree, which would have to do just fine.
Verai pressed his hand, finally, to the tree, and offered thanks. Not for protecting his pokemon, this time, but... maybe for protecting him.

Silvermoon stopped, just looking up at the tree. It was not the tallest here, but light fell on it from the broken canopy of the trees above it. Despite its place, the tree's branches were thick and wide. Something shimmered, high in the tree, flashes of rainbow colors that vanished nearly as soon as Silvermoon could see them.
Phoenix peeped softly, and Silvermoon came back to reality. "Oh, um, right." They said, picking up the little pokemon and approaching the tree proper. There was a strange, fog like sense of foreboding. Of being watched, or perceived, or known. Silvermoon quietly tried to ignore it.
"I... I don't know what I'm supposed to do," They whispered, looking at Phoenix, and then the tree, glancing only once up into the high branches
