Silvermoon sat near the tree, looking up. The sky was the same as it had been last time, despite the differing times. Maybe the sky was set to always be like this, softly golden where it filtered down. The grass was soft under their fingers, and being watched here no longer felt threatening- certainly not like the other shrine- but instead comforting, like a friend keeping watch while you napped.
"I hope you're okay," They said. There was a soft breeze, and Phoenix scampered around in the grass. "I... I hope people visit you, for more than just when they need something."

"We give our thanks, to nature." Tiernan explained, eyes closed as he took in a slow breath. Rae was nestled at the roots, Fa'linrush standing at the edge of the tree, looking straight up. "And to the gods that protect us." Fal'inrush warbled, voice rising up through the branches. Rae'shalare pawed at the dirt, nosing at the loam gently.

It was the first shrine he had gone to. It looked like nothing had changed- The sky was still edged in gold, the leaves still crisp and on the barest edge of clinging to the trees. The tree still rose, bathed in light. He had come not for any personal need- But for the little meowth at his side, looking fearfully at everything around him.
"It's alright, here." Verai said, voice soft and gentle. He simply sat in the grass, with his back to the tree. The sunlight fell over him, and he closed his eyes, taking a slow breath. There was the call of wind over grasses, leaves rustling against each other, the cry of birdsong and the chatter of creatures in the trees. More at peace, he opened his eyes again-
And Tama was where he had been put down, feet tucked close, tail thick as it could be, eyes wide. "Come here," Verai coaxed, reaching to draw the pokemon in, holding them in his lap. "Here, just sit in the sunlight. It'll help." He began slowly and gently petting Tama, not too hard or too long. Just enough to ensure the feline that he was no longer alone. Very, very slowly, Tama began to relax further, and eventually he let out a low and rattling purr.
"There you are," Verai soothed, still petting him, both awash in the evening sunlight. "It's alright. You're not going to be alone anymore." A leaf finally fell from the tree above them, drifting down on the breeze, and alighting gently on Tama's nose, life and energy infusing into him. And when the glimmering lights finally faded, he was tucked even closer to Verai's chest, eyes closed, at peace.
TAMA has been changed to Galarian Meowth.

So as it turned out, the nearest shrine to the Surge Steppes no longer existed. Which was odd, but she didn’t have time to get into questioning that. For now, Taylor had a little buddy to get patched up! Heading instead to the Shrine in Birchwild Grove, she slowly approached, eyeing the huge tree warily. It wasn’t the tree itself that had her on edge, but rather the huge fucking Moltres in the upper branches.
“Okaaaay...” she murmured to herself, watching how none of the other players around seemed in any way disconcerted by this. “Okay. I guess this is good and normal then...” Shrugging, she did her best to look casual and unconcerned as she approached the ancient shrine. One eye lingering on the other players nearby and how they approached and interacted with the area. Eventually, it would seem her hesitation became too much, and Mumble released himself from his pokeball in a flash of white light, before calmly and contentedly waddling his way over to the trunk.
After a moment, he seemed rejuvenated, and turned expectantly back to Taylor. “Oh! Oh, you’re good?” she asked with wide eyes, receiving all the sass of a duh eye-roll from the little water-type in response. “Well okay then!” The woman laughed. “Let’s get back to kicking some feathered butt, shall we?”

"Fern, wake up."
It's a long way from the Surging Steppes to the Birchwild, but as Muin sees it, the trip is worth it. It's peaceful beneath the ancient trees, bringing a thousand memories for Percy of days spent beneath ancient oak trees. Just like those, this tree is full of life despite its age, but unlike those, an incredible creature lives in this one's branches.
Perhaps its the slumbering Moltres that is to blame for what happened at the tree on this day.
Usually, in most Pokémon games, a Vulpix would need to be exposed to a Fire Stone to evolve. UNOVR handles evolution differently, and today, beneath the healing technicolour lights of Moltres' flames, it felt right to evolve Fern into a Ninetales. All it takes is one step.
One transaction, one click, and change.
Evolution. Growth. Flames.

Like many before him, he wasn't exactly close to running out of health. But he wasn't far off or anything, and he felt that it would be far better to go into the tall grass with full health. For taking hits and dishing them out. Hibiscus had tried saying that he didn't need it, that they should just look for more Pokemon, but Caspian knew better. That was just him trying to get into the thick of things sooner rather than later.
Moltres was apparently roosted up high, and there was a little brief note that said something about praying for war. But even with the potential buffs that could come with a blessing from the great legendary bird, Caspian decided to forego that. He just started this game, he wasn't exactly hoping that there would be some kind of great big war starting already. That could be a fun sort of event to do later, but... well he only had his Bulbasaur right now! Just reading that was enough to make Caspian decide he really needed to look for another Pokemon.
Sighing softly, Caspian reached out and placed a hand upon the trunk of the great tree. And just like that... he was full up and ready to go back out there.

It seemed like not too long ago that he had been here, yet here he was again. Already he was starting to see that there would be a huge benefit in raising his HP so that he wouldn't have to come here so much. But this wasn't meant to happen. The first round of the battle had seriously been going so well that it was absolutely shocking to see it all come crashing down so quickly after.
Caspian held the Pokeball containing his Bulbasaur tightly in his hand, looking up at Moltres. Was this his punishment for not praying for the blessing from the large bird of fire? To have his hopes completely crushed as Hibiscus was defeated by a small bat right in Briarbane? It didn't seem fair.
"Please. I just want to catch another Pokemon. That might sound stupid... lord knows there are plenty. And I could easily make it so that I wouldn't have this problem going after a wild Pokemon. But I'm just trying to do things in a way that makes sense."
Sighing, he reached out, placing a hand on the trunk of the tree, head bowed. He really needed to increase his maximum HP.

<Why is it called Noonlight Shrine?>
Silvermoon paused, looking back at Kintsugi. They.... "I, um, I don't know." They answered, squintin at the tree as if it could give them answers. It didn't do much, branches waving softly in the breeze. "Um, well, there's a Moltres up there, and noon is the brightest part of the day... so that's peobably why?" It felt like a fair guess.
Kintsugi only nodded, moving to sniff at the exposed roots. Hopefully the big pokemon wouldn't mind that Silvermoon had brought a friend...

"Damn, look at that. Neat." The Captain whistles in approval, looking up at the shrine before him. Big tree, big bird, what more could a fella ask for? Sure, technically the big bird is probably a phoenix or something, but that's still a bird, okay?!
"So, uh... How does this work? Do I just clap my hands together and thank you for healing me? If I have to say some prayer forget it, 'cause I don't know it." Nonchalant as ever, he shrugs, chuckling as if all of this were meaningless to him. He does, however, really need those heal points back, so better think of something fast...
He claps.
"Alright, alright! Let's get healed up!"

The shrine never got any less breathtaking, each time Verai traveled to it. The sunlight never lost its wonder, the tree never any of its grace or elegance. Even when the massive bird could not be sighed in the boughs, the tree- the area was still filled with wonder.
But it still seemed less, somehow. Verai looked up, at the clear sky, and found himself wanting. For a rush of wind, the growl of thunder, the strike and flash of lightning.
But nothing came, and eventually, Verai quietly left.

"Hmm. This one's different." Yuze muses, watching the enormous tree that seems to almost radiate life. A huge bird of technicolour flames sleeps on the branches, never burning them — Moltres, yet different from what she looks like in most Pokémon games.
Yuze doesn't pray, nor does he give thanks, but this time he does approach the shrine, a hand carefully tracing the pattern of the bark. By his side, his Cyndaquil looks up at him, looking much more energetic now.
"Hm... Let's increase that HP before we head back."
Better safe than sorry, right?

That Shroomish did some major damage. Artemis was in Athysh's arms as she walked to the Noonlight Shrine. This was supposed to be the place where she could heal up before going back into any other possible wild pokemon battles. The question remained, on if this was actually going to work, though. "I don't even know what I'm supposed to do. Do I touch the shrine?" Athysh stared at the giant tree, life seeming to radiate off of it.
She put Artemis down, the Rowlet moving sluggishly to keep up with her. This made Athysh keep her pace slow as they made their way up to the base of the tree. Curious, she held a hand out to the tree, wondering if it felt physically how it seemed to feel from the radiating life. As she touched the tree, she felt something, and looked down at Artemis who seemed to be energetic, and was flying once more.
"Let's do this, Artemis. Let's show that Shroomish who is boss."

Verai sat near the base of the tree. The leaves fell, and he watched the swirl through the air.
Something about the shrine felt... off, though, like it was someplace he was trespassing upon. Like he wasn't meant to be there. But nothing shooed him away, and the bird in the tree stayed quiet, and out of sight.
So he simply sat, watching Kitten play further, and enjoyed the solace.

Verai returned once more to the shrine. He had seen the option come up, before, hesitating at the edges of his vision. He had simply ignroed it until now.
The foognus had wanted to go with him- But he was quiet, and disliked fighting, and Kitten was loud, and very much liked fighting. It was clear the two couldn't hope to be on a team together- and Verai would not force that. He had asked the foongus what they wanted, and quietly the foongus had spoken. Of the trees and grass, of helping grow and become strong, so that even more could be helped. It was a noble calling- and a far cry from whatever Verai was doing in this game.
So, he had returned to the shrine. He'd translated the words at the edge of the screen, and found they held a solution. "This place is a legendary's domain," He explained, voice quiet, respectful. He approached the tree, setting the foongus down amidst the roots. "They need pokemon to serve them- to help keep the area safe for visitors. Does that... sound like something you'd like?"
The foongus thought, quiet, and nodded.
Verai took a step back. "Vibrant Moltres, as I have aided your sibling, so too do I aid you- I offer you this pokemon, that you might exalt them as your servant."
The tree shifted, and with a burst of flame- and the faintest smell of lightning- the foongus was gone.
Verai has exalted the foongus

She was back again, only this time, Artemis was able to fly behind her, albeit slowly. Athysh decided that coming to the shrine to heal, was better than waiting until Artemis was on her last feather again, or down for the count completely. Athysh reached the base of the shrine before Artemis did, and she paused, waiting for her partner to catch up.
Once Artemis was by her side, Athysh looked at the three, "Please, grant Artemis and I the strength to do what we need to do." After she said her silent prayer, and wish, she lightly touched the shrine, instantly feeling the warmth of it's power. The reaction was instantaneous, and Athysh and Artemis thanked the shrine, before going back out once more.
