Patch 0.1 is here, and with it, the opening of Beta Island! This glorious, sunlit isle is just a hop, skip and a shipwreck away from the Asper mainland, and is full of lush, untextured jungle, buggy beaches, and Pokemon that run according to their programming.

Before she could fully enjoy the game, she had to do the tutorial. Well...She didn't have to do the tutorial but being who she was she couldn't skip right over it either. So here she was, standing outside a house that was supposed to be hers but in fact belonged to millions, about to go see a " Mother " who had those same millions as her children, just so she could get a pair of running shoes as currently she wore none and apparently needed them. Ok Mother Dearest, let's get this over with. Those words fell from under her breathe where only she would hear them as she walked through the door and inside. She could hear the voice of her mother and she thought she heard another voice but wasn't sure. In past games it was single player experience but in this world that wasn't so. Honestly, she wouldn't be surprised if there was someone else here doing the same thing she was. Good Morning Mother. Lovely day we're having. I seem to have forgotten my running shoes. Also, Angel I would like to see you before we depart. The little Chespin who she let free from its pokeball as soon as she entered the kitchen, ran over to the woman and hugged at her legs. Her presence along with the pokemon caused the woman to turn and face her " child ", a smile on her face as she picked up the Chespin. Oh you've grown up so fast. It felt like only yesterday you were a little baby. Your father would have been proud to see how you've grown. It was always weird to her that none of the game's protagonists had a father. All except like one and he was too busy being a gym leader to be a proper father. Why they continued this trend in this new game was beyond her understanding, but she couldn't complain. I forget, what happened to father? Grabbing an apple from the bowl of fruit on the kitchen table, she took a bite of it, wondering if it tasted as good as the real thing.[/blockqoute]

The prospect of interaction remained terrifying, and running away from things wasn't a viable solution until he'd obtained the running shoes. Unfortunately, he'd never actually finished the tutorials. He skipped them and jumped right into the game itself, which, in hindsight, might not have been a good idea. Though Mom was only an NPC, he adjusted his waistcloth and headband before stepping through the door. Oh fuck there's someone there have they seen me yet I should leave oh god I think they're looking at me I'm gonna fucking die- It was Mom who interacted first. "Vanta," she frowned. "I didn't raise you to dress like that." "Yeah, you didn't raise me," he muttered beneath his breath, only to pale drastically as he realized she heard him. A hand wrenched its way around his ear and dragged him further into the room, directly in front of the stranger. Ow ow ow- "Why can't you be more like your other siblings?" Mom sighed, releasing him to stumble to the floor. "Your sister sets a good example," she added. His chest clenched further as he looked up. The encroaching white noise in his skull made it difficult to think, but he's pretty sure he managed to speak out a stuttering "h-hi there _{pleasedontlookatme}!" in between his hyperventilating.

With an apple this tasty she could only guess how good other foods were, including her favorites. Taking another bite, she was ready to be entertained by whatever story she was about to be told about her father. She found it weird that every pokemon game she played besides one of them lacked a father figure, and the one that did have one was too busy playing mediocre gym leader to truly be a father. The clicking of the front door opening caused the attention of both women in the kitchen turned their attention to who Mother would soon find out was her game sibling named Vanta. Now the look of Vanta was striking and overall interesting. She had to give him props on the look even if their mother didn't like it. In fact, the way she responded to him and the response he gave to her almost made her choke on her apple as she tried to hold back laughter on the retort. Oh dear are you ok? The woman who was just talking down to her son was now rushing to her daughter and making sure she wasn't dying. Mother put her hands up and gave a few more coughs before managing to compose herself and speak. I'm fine thank you mother. Don't be too hard on Vanta. He's just expressing himself. Come Vanta, lets enjoy some breakfast, our mother was just about bless us with a story about our very absent father. A sly smile crossed her face as she patted the seat next to her. Dressed down in a green summer dress with gold butterflies on the hem, her rather long emerald hair tied up in a neat bun with bangs framing her face, and a golden gaze staring deep at Vanta, she looked very much the total opposite of her in game sibling. Ignoring his pleads to be ignored, Mother was very pleased with having that power over him almost immediately.
