OUT OF THE GAME Have you considered working in radio? Even as a child, Remmiel was told that he had potential to be in a career that involved speaking. As the eldest, he would often read storybooks to his younger siblings (for the ones that occur at night with their parents weren't enough), and when speech competitions became relevant to his age, he would almost always place, if not win first. He was both a crafter of words and a speaker of it, finding fun in embellishing his conversations with vocabulary he had picked up from books, online, or from games. His childhood days were carefree, but he never quite figured out what he wanted to do, exactly, when confronted with the question of an eventual career. In the end, he chose interest over stability and went into a degree in literature, which was an interesting change of pace compared to his previous education. Thankfully, his parents were supportive, but they couldn't help but share their worries about him being able to earn enough money on his own. Not to worry, Rems would tell them, his younger brother and sister seemed very eager to earn more than enough money for the whole family. Of course, he said that in jest; the anxiety would eat into him slowly but surely, and even if he completed the degree, he had no clue where he wanted to work (or if anyone would take him in, for that matter). For a while he tried freelance, but in the end he had to rely on his first talents instead, as much as he didn't like the idea of speaking constantly for work. Such was how it was, though, and he supposed he should consider himself lucky that radio was no longer the only speaking-related job there was on the market. Streaming had already become relevant even before he graduated university, and eventually, it seemed that he caught the attention of a bigger fish. Hydance Interactive was not a company he was all too familiar with, but an email arrived one day with an opportunity he hadn't expected. Even if he didn't have an expert background on game testing, he had also been doing reviews in his spare time. Still, he didn't think it was enough to qualify for him to be a play tester, yet here it was, written in a nice font. Only if he was interested in playing, the email wrote, and it was free of course! All he had to do was to try and test all of the mechanics within the game, even the ones that seemed kind of, well, buggy (they were features, not actual bugs, supposedly). Also, no streaming was allowed, which was understandable. He had seen and heard of these before. Why not? It seemed like a pretty huge game, the next big thing, and when it did release, he could easily make content that could curry to his favor. It was funny, though, because he hadn't picked up a Pokemon game since, what was that, the one where there was lots of water? The game left an impression on him, but his classmates and friends were quick to move on to other things, and so he had followed suit. The games he played now were mostly on his phone (and unfortunately, mostly gacha. He was a self-proclaimed dolphin). Yet here he was, about to play test what seemed like the next big Pokemon game. What could go wrong? edit: Aug 22 2023 A few things did go wrong, actually. He's still a play tester, but a streamer? Err, he chalked that up to the result of an occupational hazard. Tldr; he's freelancing at the moment and taking on odd jobs to make ends meet. UNOVR has become both an escape and a mission that he wants to see through.

He doesn't want to be seen as anyone else, does not want to act like he is someone else. He had enough of that people-pleasing shit back in high school. But a part of him still wonders if he ever really managed to form something that he actually wanted to do or wanted to be. He hopes that maybe here he could find something for himself, something he chooses to do.
