You meet on THE DIVIDE, a dusty old road that marks the border between Asper's Surge Steppes and the sinister Area 2 - Mistra to the north. Broken tombstones litter the path on both sides. Some might already bear your name.
"Hello, everyone! Watch out for pestilent Zapdos," A smug-looking young woman in a blue dress greets participants, seeming in high spirits. She's surely thrilled to be getting so much attention. "He hates when people are snooping around so close to the border. It's like he has no respect for reality television!"
Once you're all assembled, Bergamot balances up on top of a tombstone and snaps her fingers for attention. "All right, so I assume you all know how this works! Two teams, you build a camp and forage for food, we come back to do a challenge together, and someone gets voted off the island. We'll do all that, but faster, because I don't want to be stuck here with all of you that long." It's nice to know Morgana is already anticipating becoming bored of her own reality show knockoff.
"So: teams!"
She scans the sea (more like small pond) of faces, assessing you carefully. "All right!" she announces, apparently having come to a decision, "Sarah Lee, Rose Garden, Alicia Westfield, you will be Team N00b! Here's your team flag." She hands you a flag with a Piplup. She looks at the other three players: Kyukon, Wolf, and Paw Wrangler. "The rest of you will be Team Guillotine Apex! I've also made you a flag." She gives you an almost-identical flag, also with a Piplup. "Team Guillotine Apex, you'll be building your camp here in the Surge Steppes, over by Tinymon Town. Team N00b, you'll be over on the Mistra side instead. I haven't spent much time there, but I'm sure there's roots and berries and things to eat if you look carefully. Oh, one more thing!" Morgana fishes in her inventory and pulls out a [tangent=Immunity Idol (item): a chibified plastic likeness of Morgana. It looks like one of those figurines from your animes. ]small plastic figurine.[/tangent] "I noticed there's a glitch if you click and drag your player icon into the overworld. It just makes these," said Morgana, chucking the doll into the bushes on the Mistra side. "Anyway, that's an immunity idol, so go get it! If you have one you won't die at the first checkpoint, so that should be your first priority! And making a camp, fire, shelter, and so on. You're going to need to survive at least one night out here. Anyway, meet me back here when you're done, and we'll do the first challenge."

"Survival is simple," Sarah said to Pupitar, as she gathered up corrupted sticks. "The first thing we need is a fire." The sticks had mostly blown over from Team Guillotine Apex's side, but they were fair game. With an armful of black, shadowy wood she set about building a fire nest.
Once the pit was dug and the bowl of kindling was complete, she got the largest piece of wood and set Pupitar's point into a tiny divot in the surface. "There. Now we just need friction."
Pupitar twisted back and forth, rubbing his rock-hard carapace against the stick as fast as possible. Within moments, the force of the twists was creating little wisps of smoke. The heat spread, catching on the kindling, and Sarah careful plucked her dizzy Pupitar out of the growing fire.
"Wonderful work," she said, setting him down to rest. Already a tiny sheen of darkness was growing along Pupitar's shell, the result of exposure to the corruption zone. "Do you see that Bergamot Gristleborg! We will not be defeated by your simple challenges!"
A great roar emanated from the fire, as a creature made from billowing black flame pulled itself out of the earth.
"Fight it back!" she yelled to her teammates.
Pupitar fired a salvo of rocks at the monstrosity. The stones exploded with rainbow light, blasting chunks out of the shadowy monster. As the battle raged on, she looked over at the far side of The Divide, which was noticeably free of shadow beasts.

Team N00b! It was a very silly name, but she loved the flag. It had a Piplup on it! Rose would happily carry the flag, grinning with absolute glee. Or rather, her Jeep did. She had tied the flag to the side of the Jeep as soon as she could, and watching it flutter in the wind as she drove it over to the Mistra side of the road was very satisfying.
"I'm gonna look around!" Rose called out, climbing out the driver's seat. "See if I can't find one of them idols! ... Wait." The young girl paused, remembering how Bergamot Gristleborg said she made the idols. A glitch about clicking and dragging the player icon into the world? She fumbled with her UI for a second, curiously attempting the very same.
Pop.
Suddenly, a little tiny [tangent=]figurine[/tangent] appeared before her, it was a spitting image of herself. "Woo! I found an immunity idol!" Rose shouted with excitement, not having any clue in the world how the immunity idols actually worked. Or even how Survivor worked, for that matter. She knew it was a TV show, about living in the wilderness! Sometimes the people in the wilderness shows were naked, but she didn't think this was one of them.
Suddenly, a battle commenced, some shadowy flames in the distance that had her stumbling backwards.
"Well, don't just stand there!" Cried out her Seedot, finally tumbling out of the footwell of the Jeep. "I hate this F____ng place, but if you're gonna make a winner out of us over all those Sh__heads, you gotta go find food."
"But the fight!" Rose frowned, still never understanding why her friend's voice cut out half the time.
"I got that. Get f___ing food, or you'll starve!" The Seedot suddenly rolled off towards the confrontation, attempting to Absorb the energy from the shadowy beast.
"... Okay!" Rose flopped down beside the Jeep, cradling her "Idol" in one hand as she thought. "Food, food... Where is food?" She mumbled to herself, slowly scanning her eyes around when an idea immediately struck her. "Ahh! Aha! I know where food is!"
Rose reached into the back of the Jeep, pulling out a large paint-stained canvas bag, her Art Supplies. After a few moments of tossing out brushes, spray paint, chalk, fabric dyes and even a few sponges, Rose finally found what she was looking for.
A huge box of Macaroni, specifically for Macaroni Art. It was probably a bit stale, technically it could be eaten! The others probably would know how to actually cook it. "I got 'roni!" Rose called out with a huge grin, waving the box above her head like it was a maraca, making music.
Find food, Fake finding an immunity idol.

âWhy are we jumping in on something named in this fashion again?ââItâs a big reality TV show a bunch of humans watch. Itâs actually kinda crazy the mind games that can go on. Some aspects actually look kind of fun too!ââFun⌠struggling to survive, literally in the name itself. Why do you people do this to yourselves?ââWell, the official series has a giant cash prize. And nobodyâs ever actually in danger of dying. Medical crews are on standby off screen for when emergencies occur. Itâs just a polite fiction that theyâre âall alone with only their fellow tribe membersâ.ââAnd you think this individual can afford the same safety nets?ââWell, no. But with such a smaller scale thing, what could possibly happen?âThat was the back and forth Tikani and Alicia had prior to actually arriving at the designated location. And the Gardener was wondering if she had to eat her words. They were⌠distressingly close to Mistraâs Corruption Zone. Never mind Zapdos himself flying around⌠And Morgana was not inspiring confidence with her commentary so far. Alicia wasnât expecting some grand set up. That was far too much to ask a single person to do on short notice. But at least some level of interest in the mini-event you were hosting beyond your own entertainment was a kind of required thing! âI resent that team name! Iâve actually followed the series!â Alicia yelled out upon being given the unceremonious name of âTeam Noobâ. Yes she could practically hear the zeroes in the leet-lingo version, but she was not mentally writing it that way. And then the other team was assigned such an elaborate name? She didnât think the Bias was be coming out this early! âWeâre going to have words when this is all said and done.â Tikani snipped evenly upon learning that they were to be shoved over into Mistra, dealing with the Corruption Zone again. At least it was only the fringes of it this time, rather than the fully empowered depths? Of course, Bergamot also admitted she hadnât even scoped out if the place was livable for the time period they were expecting to stay. âFirst person to suggest eating bits off of me gets a Reflect-enforced time out. The second person to do so is getting Solar Beamed.âAlicia winced at that. She⌠was still a bit sore over that Noibatâs innocent by thoughtless question so long ago, wasnât she? Either way, they needed to get started. The pinkette heaved a sigh. But before she could take the lead, the others went into motion, especially the⌠effeminate man? Masculine woman? Alicia couldnât tell for sure which Sarah Lee was, but leaned more towards woman given the screen name. Either way, the ambiguously sexed individual was quick, composed, and methodical. Fire was definitely a necessity. Shelter was another, but secondary compared to a way to cook what they get and purify (hopefully without needing Capital P Purification) water for drinking. âYouâre used to this kind of delegating and leading thing, arenât you?â she asked softly towards Sarah. She was worried about Rose though. A little girl undoubtedly had no idea what she was getting into. Except⌠apparently she was allowed to bring the Jeep Of Many Things⌠⌠Alicia wasnât going to question it, and just left Rose to do Rose things while she figured out how she could help out. Tikani could cut down some usable material from the surroundings, couldnât she? With that they could certainly- And then the call to battle erupted, drawing hero and Bayleefâs attentions. A flame beast had ambushed Sarah somehow! âTikani! Cover me! Iâve got this!ââOn it!â Tikani answered as Alicia raced in. Getting a running start, she took the moment to slot her newly improved Kindler class into place, feeling the rush of heat. Now she should be able to engage in direct combat without being too bothered by their foeâs elemental nature. Letting the heat of the moment fill her, she leaped into the fray and drop kicked the beast away from Sarah, Pupitar, and Seedot. Of course, she did land just as prone as the beast as a result, but was quick to start rolling back to her feet. Since the rock attack from Pupitar had obvious effect, the beast seemed to obey some kind law anchoring it to a physical form. It was the only reason sheâd tried such a direct approach at first. But the beast had risen first, belching a stream of corrupted flames at the recovering pinkette. Until a Light Screen shimmered into existence between them with interlocking panels, diverting the stream for the few seconds it was exhaled. Alicia smirked as she glanced back at Tikani, thundering up to stand shoulder to shoulder with her partner. âSolar Beam, aim it at me so I have something to really tear into this thing with.â Alicia commented, moving to engage. The flame beast bellowed and swung a fist at her. But the pinkette ducked to the outside, avoiding the otherwise devastating hammer blow. Grabbing the wicked limb, Alicia winced a bit at the soft sizzle she felt. But she wrenched the beast out of position with a twist of her own arms and body. Slamming it âheadâ down into the earth to deny it the gout of flame breath it could otherwise lash out with. The beast flailed in her grip, and Alicia let out a yelp as it managed to lift her up. Getting to its feet, it flung its otherwise trapped limb around to try and throw the hero wannabe off. Seeing an opening, Alicia suddenly used the extra momentum to drive another strong kick to the facsimile head of the creature, flipping away with the impact. âHere it comes!â Tikani called out in alert, firing her Solar Beam. The searing beam of light screamed through the air, forcing the beast to back off for the moment. A moment Alicia used, calling on her maxed rank Gardener Class. She Never had to be Normal after all, and clawed her hand through the beam, âcatchingâ the energy. Something sheâd done in the Maze with Torino not too long ago. But where she made a sword there, she changed her mind, moving it towards something more to her style in another series. With a crackle and a snap, she made an energized glaive, longer than she was tall and thicker than her arm. The beast came again, seeking to end her. She met it with a wide smile, her blade gleaming in the daylight hours. A flash of weaponized light liberated the beastâs arm-like limb from its body, making it release a pained cry. The hero-to-be kept the pressure going, becoming a metaphorical hurricane of circular, sweeping strikes. The pinkette twirled with her rapid strikes as if she were performing a deadly dance with the beast, until she reduced it to chunks loosely spread out. Yet it still didnât extinguish. Heaving for breath, Alicia motioned towards Tikani. Stepping back, she voiced her idea to end it for good. âSmother it with⌠a Reflect barrier. Deny it airâŚâWordlessly, the Bayleef nodded, forming the psychic barrier over the beastâs parts even as they tried to come together again. Pressing down more and more. Applying more pressure, choking it out. Until at last the flames burned no more, leaving only black marks of Corruption in its wake. Strapping her new weapon across her back, Alicia took a deep breath. Turning and walking back to the group, she nodded to her parter. âCan you use some Magical Leaves to cut down thick branches and foliage we can use to try and build shelter in a bitâŚ?ââIâll do what I can. You take a break. Especially your armsâŚâ Tikani replied. Alicia looked at the limbs in question at that, wincing a bit at the marks of Corruption damage that sheâd incurred getting into contact with the beast. âYeah⌠you uh⌠have a pointâŚâ she agreed. âââââââââââââââââââââââ Prompts: Encounter (and kill!) a Corrupted Threat and (attempt to) Make a Shelter. 9hILF3Mp1-6 1-6

Holy shit what was he doing here.
Truth be told, he knew next to nothing about Survivor, he never watched it. All he could assume was that it sounded like one of those reality TV shows where people are out in the wilderness or something. Kind of like those random documentaries on cable? He was sure that there was fictional stuff involved, where people weren't completely left to their own devices (though them getting hurt was still in the cards; they must've signed some kind of agreement for that), but there no kind of contract for this. If something was going to happen to them, they were really going to get eaten up by the wild.
Great! (He glanced at one of the tombstones and did indeed see his name. Double great!)
Also, did she say Zapdos? Like, the legendary electric bird Zapdos?
(And what did Team Guillotine Apex mean? It didn't sound cool, it sounded foreboding. And they were going to tempt death by large bird beak? He had no idea what his teammates were like, but then again the other team had a literal child in there. Then again, a child could own powerful Pokemon, so he wouldn't really know if he was fucked or not).
Anyway, what did the forehead girl say? Something about making camp and finding a doll. He glanced at the mini map. âClick and drag? With what, hands?â he mumbled in bewilderment as he tried to hover his hand over where his player icon was. He was swiping nothing at air and looked pretty silly for a while, but after some more swinging, he did feel his bag getting heavier all of a sudden, and he pulled [tangent=]a doll[/tangent]. It didn't look like him, so he chucked it. He tried it again and managed to get [tangent=]another doll[/tangent], but it still didn't look like him, so he was like fuck it and decided it was not worth his time. For all he knew, he needed to find one of her dolls instead of his own.
âOkay, so,â he faced his team members after they get dropped off in electric boogaloo territory. âDo any of you know how this works? 'Cuz I don't. I do have fire types though, the fire shouldn't be too difficult.â thunder roared above them as streaks of lightning zipped through the clouds. The skies were gloomy, filled with gray clouds, and anywhere in them could be hiding a spiky bird. The lands were not much better - these were plains, and so there were very few trees. They would likely have to burn dried up shrubbery or something instead of wood.
But where would a good place to be to start a fire while hiding themselves from Zapdos? They needed a place that wasn't near the natural lightning rods while still big enough to hide behind. It would be nice if he had a Pokemon that could scout ahead, but Mugan was the only Pokemon in his team that could learn fly, and he wasn't confident yet in sending that dragon out on his own (he might not come back).
So he was about to let out the fire types he spoke of, only to realize that he (oh fuck) signed up with just one Pokemon, and he didn't pick Gou. (Insert a number of curse words here).
He let out Koro and crouched down in defeat.
<I take it you did not think things through?>
âYou're a mindreader.â he replied, dripping with sarcasm. He then turned to the other two players, âI'll still try to find things for the fire, I think I can light it up on my own. I hope. If I find any food though I'll bring it along. Gotta find a decent place to bunker down too.â it felt like they were not going to accomplish much if they were huddled together, especially since their area was of plains - it wouldn't be too difficult to spot one another if they made some kind of signal. So Arthur got to work, telling Koro to watch his eyes for anything that looked easily flammable. The Kricketot seemed to have a better eye for this, at least. He, on the other hand, would keep his eyes to the horizon, which eventually allowed him to spot a [tangent=]rock formation[/tangent] that looked suitable for a camp. While walking there, he was trying to recall how these fires usually looked like in games. While he had never been to real life camp, he had played survival games, so a fire often had...
Stones. And wood. Or grass. So he made sure to gather medium-sized stones that fit in his hand. He would also get whatever flammable stuff Koro was able to find and put it in his inventory. Eventually, they made it to the spot and tried to clear some of the grass for a fire. He was plucking it out with his hands at first, but Koro offered to use Struggle Bug to make the job faster. As it turned out, the attack had a bit of an explosive property, so that gave them a patch of dirt to place the rocks in a circle. They were uneven and bumpy and dusty, but they were rocks (they should do). And then after that he dumped some of the grass they got in the middle. Without any of his fire types on hand, he had to use a branch that fell from the nearby tree and hope that doing that rubbing thing he saw on TV will do the trick.
It would take a few agonizing minutes before he saw a spark of something. And then the spark grew into a tiny flame, much more fragile and vulnerable than the one they made in the Canopy. Arthur again remembered that they needed to be careful not to snuff the flame out, but it soon began to eat away the grass and grow in size, and eventually, there was something of a fire going. Much smaller than how it usually looked in games, but it was something.
The Kricketot watched with fascination as his trainer looked rather proud of himself and asked, <I was surprised you didn't use your own flames to light it.>
Arthur blinked, realizing that he still had the Kindler class equipped. He cursed again, but at least they had a back up plan.

Wolf wasnât sure what to think when she got the random notification to join an active scenario party. To be honest, the player wasnât very social in or out of the game. She really didnât have any friends in game, nor out of game. So really, an invite to join was strange to her. Yet, she understood why she got the invite as well. Unovr has dropped in player activity recently, though she appears online every day. If you wanted a party, why not invite someone who was always online?
In silence, the hybrid listen to what the hosting player had to say. Her expression emotionless, arms folded over her chest while her wolf tail flickered every now and again. Personally, she had watched the game show âSurvivalâ a few times in her lifetime. Though, not in recent years. However, she never thought in a million years she would actually play it whether it was a knock off or not. And honestly, she feared for her virtual life now.
âTeam Guillontine Apex,â the player mumbled to herself, though loud enough for anyone who wanted to hear her could hear, âWhat are we? High schoolers?â She didnât mean for it to sound nasty, though it probably came out like that. Regardless, her gaze shifted to her suppose team mates. If she remembered correctly, they should work as a team until it comes down to the individual challenges. Then, take each other out. Yes, she was going to be the first one kicked. She knew it.
Once they were dropped off at their location, Wolf turned to her partners. âIâve seen it a few times,â the player mumbled, pale golden orbs flickered over the vast plains before lifting to note the ominous storm clouds above, âCanât say I know much though.â AS the topic of what they needed to do came up, her mouth parted already attempting to snag the easies of the task. However, she wasnât quick enough. Kyukon volunteered to start the fire while Paw Wrangler mentioned something about food. âNormally, they give you enough food to last the competition. We just need to be smart enough to make it last.â At least, thatâs what she last remembered from the show.
Honestly, Wolf felt luckily that Kyukon spotted a shelter even if it wasnât the best. Again, she had no idea how to do that either. You know, built a shelter. And really, thankful that they managed to start a fire even if thatâs the task she was hoping to do. And on that note, something occurred to her and she couldnât help but make a comment on it. âCan I be real for a second? Do we even need food? Like- I donât think we have a food stat.â At least, Wolf never noticed it.
Reaching into her pockets, the player summoned her creature of choice. The type null materialized within seconds, a low growl rattled in his helmet. "Keep your wits about you, Zapdos could be lurking." Ziryan emitted another grumble, dark gaze shifted to the rumbling skies and flashes of lightning. VWtTC|4Y1-6 1-6

The sound of distant bongo drums summons you back. A small Gyarados is playing them, bouncing up and down. Bergamot Riddle is recording a [tangent="Yes, the network asked me to be the host of Season 47 instead of Phil. Something to do with being an 'inspiration for young women everywhere'? Apparently they originally were going to offer the position to Sarah Lee, but ended up turning her down. She can't even be on camera without breaking out in hives. Of course I've seen them, they're all red and awful. Right, I know. I think it's all psychosomatic, but she refuses to see a specialist. I felt bad for her, of course, but this was my big break. Some people are just born winners, I always say!"]POV[/tangent] while she waits for both teams to show up.
As everyone arrives she stands up, abandoning the pretense of imaginary cameras. "It's time for our first challenge!" Bergamot announces. She's found a tiki torch somewhere, which is an improvement on the previous lack of atmosphere, but is still worrying considering the fire hazard and very dry, grassy plains. "Welcome, Team N00b." The Gyarados beats the drums. "Welcome, Team Guillotine Apex." More drums are beaten. "I hope you've finished scrounging and making fires or whatever, ohohoho!" Morgana hides her loud, obvious laugh behind her hand. "I've set up a fun obstacle course for all of you in the meanwhile."
The 'obstacle course' is what you might imagine one person and their Pokemon could make on a low budget: two long balance beams stretch above a shallow mud puddle with another Gyarados rolling in it like the world's laziest alligator. After the balance beams is a series of slippery stepping stones (repurposed from the tombstones) and a spike pit you apparently have to jump over.
"Chop chop, make two lines!" Your hostess shoos you over to the starting line, gesturing with the torch. "We'll go one at a time from each team, both you and your Pokemon. When one person on your team finishes, the next person can start, and so on. Best time wins!"
The course looks a bit precarious, but certainly not impossible.
"Also, you have to tape this optical illusion over your HUD while you're doing the course," Bergamot adds, producing a laminated sheet of paper with a horrible optical illusion on it. "I've heard you can see the Forbidden Colors if you focus on it long enough."
{EXAMPLE POST} "Ohoho, I'll go first!" Bergamot in this imaginary scenario where she was a contestant stepped up to the starting line, affixing the cool laminated image to her big forehead. She stared at the little X, willing the forbidden colors into her mind.
CHALLENGE START! Then she stepped off the line onto the balance beam. It wasn't too hard to keep her balance. She tiptoed along easily and then jumped off the end. Next waws the stepping stones made of tombstones. She jumped on ten of them or so and then continued on. There was a spike pit after that, which didn't scare her because it was a game and she wasn't going to die, though she woud certainly suffer some pain if she was impaled on spikes. ANyway, she put === her jogj=jee;ed sjoes off to the side and took a running leap over the pit. Then she finished with a flourish, completely un0muddified and uninjured.
END CHALLENGE! She had a wonderful time throughout and everyone clapped and cheered, then booed her afterwards out of sheer jealousy. Her Pokemon also followed her, because I forgot that part. She also saw 3 whole forbidden colors, which is more than most people see in a lifetime. You're welcome!

Sarah eagerly stepped up to the challenge course. "Follow my lead," she told her team. She focused in on the course itself and gave her Pupitar herself a pep-talk. "Remember, it's 70% basic gymnastics and 30% overconfidence. We're leaders! What could be simpler than a game show obstacle course."
"Do you think a simple plank of wood, some Home Depot spikes, and a clean Gyarados scare me?" she called to Morgana, hoping to taunt the woman into revealing the location of more precious idols, "Watch this."
Sarah looked down at the balande beam, the fst if the three ibsracles. Would she be able to cross it. she hoisted Pupirar up onto her shoulder and took a steo. then another. the board shuddered underneath her. shr gracefullu dis, ounted and landed on a tombstone. no time to see whose name was on it, she moves swiftley down the line, keeping high on her toes. lastly was the pit of spikes. she would up to throw pipitar but held on to holes in his shell, using the momentum to carry her over the pit.
She put Pupitar down and rubbed his shell in celebration. "We did it!" She turned to the non-existent camera. "I hope you got all that!"
She picked up Pupitar and strode over to Morgana. "I completed your obstacle course, and I didn't even see ONE of your forbidden colors," Sarah bragged, before the adrenaline wore off. "Because to me they're not forbidden. They're just normal colors. Maybe the color authority just doesn't want you seeing them."

âThe Catalyst class, huhâŚ?â Alicia couldnât help but muse about the thing Sarah Lee mentioned. Hadnât she seen someone get a few pieces of material that contributed towards that after the fact? What were they againâŚ? The Gardener sighed to herself at that. She had been too distraught over what had happened to really remember. And given what sheâd done⌠âIâm not⌠sure thatâs an option for me anymoreâŚâ
Leaving that possibly foreboding comment there, she joined the rest of Team Noob (she still resented the name) in arriving at the challenge. And she quirked an eyebrow at their obstacle course that was set up. While on theme, it did have that âamateurâ look to it. At least the tiki torch was reminiscent of the actual show and the drumming Gyarados was a nice touch.
âIâve got this. Tikani? Howâre you feeling?â Alicia asked, turning towards her Bayleef.
âI mean, thereâs no âopt outâ option, is there?â Tikani asked back sarcastically.
âGood point.â Alicia noted with a grimace.
âââââââââNO LOOKING âââââââââ
Sighing to herself, Alicia stepped up once the path was clear. Fortunately, there was one thing she was absolutely confident in. And that thing was her sense of balance. She was a gamer after all, and the types of games she played meant that she was quite good at hand-eye coordination. Even with the forced addition of an actually rather interesting color display, didnât seem to phase her too much. She hardly even needed to put her hands out to steady herself as she walked. The Gyarados below barely bothered her. Neither did the fluctuations of the beam trip her up. All in all, a good performance if she was the type to pat herself on the back.
Tikani, meanwhile, was immediately facing some issues. Her increased size from Aliciaâs Gardener Class, so often a boon to give her more mass and physical strength, was finally becoming a hinderance. The Bayleef was much slower when taking her turn to cross. She had to carefully pick her steps. The boards flexed much more severely under her weight than it did Aliciaâs. And footing was oh so sparse for her. She wobbled, grunting and yelping as her foot slipped more times than she cared to admit. Silently, she swore revenge on Morgana for setting up such a giant un-friendly challenge. Perhaps a Magical Leaf at an inopportune time in order to leave the wannabe villain in a⌠compromising situation? She was sure there was some kind of prop she could sabotage later without their hostess noticing.
âââââââââALL CLEAR âââââââââ
âNot that bad⌠you okay, Tikani?â Alicia asked, giving her partner a reassuring pat on the head.
âIâll manageâŚâ Tikani replied, still feeling shaky in her legs from such delicate balancing. âBut if an opportunity presents itself then⌠someone else might be in for an unfortunate time.â

Drums called her back, and Rose had to admit she was very intrigued. A little game! Like a game within a game! She loved obstacle courses! Sometimes her school set up a few outside for some big outdoors events, and they were always the best experiences. They couldn't ever go wrong! When she saw the "low-budget" obstacle course, Rose didn't see a barely put together challenge.
She saw a death-defying bridge, looming over a large moat filled with a deadly monster. Dangerous rock platforms and the most intimidating pit she had ever seen.
It had her eyes practically sparkling with stars, excited beyond belief.
It looked like she was the last one in her team to be able to go across, and already she had wrapped the piece of paper over head properly so she could look at the silly circles and colors. She had been staring for a good few moments before it was suddenly, her turn!
"Come on, we're up!" Cried the Seedot, being carried in Rose's arms.
"Oh, going!"
CHALLENGE START! Rose didn't really know what to do first, but there was no time to spend debating on it! She quickly jumped up onto the balance beams, her Catcher wings fluttering out from the small little beetle shell, revealing themselves properly. They immediately fluttered like crazy, helping her keep balance on the beam as she walked across the beam. At one second she nearly leaned far too over to the right, having to swiftly swing her arms around carrying the Seedot, and her wings buzzed furiously to correct herself.
"Watch where you are going!" Said the Seedot, but Rose couldn't! She had paper in her face!
"Sorry!" Rose responded, finally moving to walk overtop the Gyarados that rolled underneath as she finally made her way to the slippery stepping stones. This was fortunately much easier! She'd jump, and her wings helped her hover across the ground to matke each landing properly. Maybe it was defying the intent of the rules a little bit, but she had wings! What was she supposed to do? Pretend they didn't exist? Her little bug wings were far too cute to do that to!
"Focus!" Said her Seedot, watching Rose's feet starting to slip on the stone.
"I am!" she replied, totally not focusing. She catches herself, having to jump up in place a few times to adjust her positon as her feet slipped, using her wings to find the perfect position as she hovered over it for a few seconds.
Steeling her resolve, gazing into the pit that seemed to end in cereatin death and doom, Rose took a a second to calm her nerves. "I can do this!" She shouted, moving to jump with as much force as her little legs could carry.
Of course, she didn't need to worry too much. The Catcher Wings really helped make the distance across, slowly falling and hovering to the very end before landing atop safe gorund.
END CHALLENGE!
At the very end, Rose was feeling dizzy. Her eyes were slightly crosseyed, staring at the circles, dots, and colors like she was trying to make sense of them. "Did, did we do it? Did we win?" She spun around, slowly flopping down onto the ground.

If Arthur was asked about his balance, he wouldn't bet on it. There have been a number of times when he had stumbled out of a bar, almost falling onto his face if it weren't for someone or something catching him, whether that be his arm (or a stranger's, or an acquaintance's), a couch, a table...basically, he wasn't confident, even if the poor sight of an obstacle course looked like a five year old could clear it in record time.
It probably wasn't a coincidence that the game mechanics were reminiscent of a children's party either. He wanted to refuse putting on whatever that was on his eyes, but their hostess was too busy ohoho-ing her ass to care, and everyone else went with it. In fact Team N00b seemed to get through it pretty quick. He continued to grimace.
âLet's just get this over with.â he called Koro-sensei over on his shoulder, much like how he had gotten used to Gou resting on him, and instructed him to help with his balance when he could (mostly it meant shifting from one side to another if that seemed suitable). The Kricketot was much lighter than the Chimchar, however. Nonetheless, once positioned, it seemed like they were ready to go.
How bad could it be?
Falling might be a blessing
Arthur was never one for gymnastics - many of his peers had taken it as one of those exploratory hobbies as children, but he had landed into something more musical. Nonetheless, the beams looked vaguely familiar, having seen something similar in his gym for Physical Education. Gilping, he took careful steps towards the means before climbing on it and trying to get his balance. Right, okay, now there was the matter of walking. He took a step forward, already with hisarms outstretched, and he was trying to focus more on his surroundings (or whatever he could see) instead of the "forbidden colors" that forehead girl mentioned. He had almost tipped over somewhere in the middle, but was thankfully able to recover thanks to some quick thinking from Koro-sensei (do not ask how this was done, because for a moment his eyes were closed in fright).
After that was the "slippery" stepping stones. This one was a bit easier, as Arthur had practice being light on his feet, to an extent. There was no point in rushing anyway when the other team was already much more ahead of them; what mattered more was that he shouldn't fall and hit his head, because that would really suck. Koro-sensei, at some point, wondered why the colors that came from his mouth seem more muted at the moment, but Arthur was concentrating too much on getting past the obstacles to care. Really, was that what he should be concerned with? Who cared if their words weren't reddish?
Anyway, the last obstacle was the pit, which didn't seem all too deep, if he didn't stare down for too long. How did she make this in such a short time? Did one of her Pokemon blast the ground or something? In any case, without any protective gear nor anything to push him across, he took some steps back before doing a running leap - for a moment, the Kindler aesthetic activated and a fiery trail sparked behind him. Sensing the worst, Koro-sensei activated a Struggle Bug to propel them a little further, which made Arthur lose his footing and not stick the landing, but hey! They got to the other side of the pit. Nice!
Miraculously...
He groaned, picking himself up from the ground and attempted to pat the dust off of him, but his arms hurt. He used whatever energy he had left to rip out the weird colorful thing from his face. He desperately wanted to rub his eyes. âYeah, I don't have high hopes for this one.â he muttered.

Wolf was one of the last players to attempt the 'challenge' set before them. And seeing well everyone else had did, she had a little more hope she wasn't about this fail this too bad. However, there was still at least a little doubt in the back of her mind knowing how bad she would be at this if this was real life. Hopefully, her calibration was correct!
CHALLENGE START! The half wolf half human player put the optical illusion tape over her vision, taking a deep breath to claim her nerves before taking her first step onto the balance beam. Blurred vision flickered down at the beam, noting that this might be more difficult than she thought. However, she wasn't about to give up yet. Pressing forward, the player moved across the beam. Her arms would flail a few times, attempting to catch her balance when it was off. Ziryan seemed unfazed by it all, almost pushing her to move faster.
Once she was off the balance bean, the woman finally exhaled. A bead of sweat rolled down the side of her face, though the challenge wasn't over yet. Her pale golden gaze fell upon the stones, noting against how bad she couldnt see. Grunting to herself, Wolf moved across the stones nearly slipping several times if it wasn't for her type null helping her catch herself and mumble a 'thanks' in a low tone to him. Taking more time then the other, she finally made it to the end and let out a loud sigh of relief. If was actually kinda, though Wolf wasn't going to admit it.
Last but not least, the spike pit. The trick here was to figure out how far she needed to jump. And after taking several minnutes to silently debate, it was 'f*** it time'. Moving back a few paces just to be safe, the wolf hybrid sprinted forward. The 'end' of the ground came up quicker than she thought, quiet literally jump flailing over the spikes and praying she made it. Her landing wasn't so graceful. Yes, she landed on her feet but had too much momentum and ended up falling forward. Hands out, she landed on all fours though seemingly unharmed. She fought a smile, getting to her feet and seeing who was up next. Ziryan seemingly having no issues once so ever.END CHALLENGE!

The forbidden colors made unpleasant after-images in her retinas. Bergamot blinked rapidly to try and erase them, enjoying their annoying effect on her vision. "There! See, wasn't that fun? Now, for the timesâŚ" She checked the stopwatch on her UI.
"Tut, tut. As expected, Team N00b are the l00sers," said Morgana, sighing dramatically. "By three-tenths of a second. Goodness, that sucks to be you. Here's your victory feast, winners! Catch!" Bergamot threw the winning team (Kyukon and Wolf) some PBJ's. "Those are $4 each, by the way. After the show is fine."
Sarah Lee had been oafishly clumsy as expected, but Alicia and Rose had been surprisingly deft at maneuvering the cheap Home Depot setup. The boy with the dolls, Kyukon, had also done well, and the humanoid Wolf had moved through the course with canine agility. Bergamot felt strangely proud of them for a moment.
She clapped her hands together. "Elimination time for N00bs! Where's my tiki torchâŚ"
Morgana insisted on waiting until dark to do the elimination, so everyone had to go back to their camps (in the Corruption Zone and the Surge Steppes, respectively) to wait the 30+ minutes til sunset. In that time, Paw Wrangler went offline and never came back, so Morgana decided to just eliminate him instead of someone from Team N00b (making the entire previous challenge pointless).
"We gather here to mourn the passing of one of our own," Bergamot said back at The Divide, face lit by torchlight. Surrounded by the shapes of tombstones, it felt deliberately, deliberately like a funeral. Boom-boom. Gyarados played the bongos somberly.
"Paw Wrangler," she said solemnly, taking a (clearly) pre-prepared and pre-written piece of paper out of her pocket. She pretended to be addressing the clearly still AFK player. "You have been voted off the island. Take your belongings and go."
PAW HAS BEEN ELIMINATED! "Anyway, it's time for a team merger!" says Morgana. Survivor is progressing fast! "You are now united as one tribe. Team Apex N00b, return to your camp in Mistra. I think Zapdos found the other one. Did you try to disguise it at all?" Angry bird noises were coming from out in the Steppes.
The villainess twirled around, threatening to light things on fire with the torch she was still holding. "Have fun bonding! I'll message everyone when the next challenge is ready."

Well all of that ended up being a load of hogwash, what with Paw Wrangler from the winning team being evicted for lack of presence. It reminded her of a cooking based reality show. It was rare, but the man running that did sometimes choose to eliminate a member of the winning team. But it usually took something absurdly atrocious to gain his ire to that degree. Oh well, it meant she got to hold on to the doll of Morgana that Tikani had found while going out for building materials. Roseâs Jeep was useful as a starting point too. And of course, she did make sure to ask if she could incorporate the vehicle into the shelter they had made. It wouldâve been terribly rude to ignore if Rose was okay with it! Fortunately, building was as much Math as it was suitable material. And Alicia, in her real world identity as Helen, was Good At Math. Even with very little actual building experience, it hadnât taken her long to put something together via trial and error. But that was when it was just the three of them. With Wolf and Kyukon suddenly being shoved into their group (thanks to a certain two-bit bird), the once snug but serviceable shelter was now just the slightest bit inadequate. âWith me, Tikani! We need more materials! Letâs get a whole tree this time!ââA tree!?â Tikani asked in shock. âWeâll cut it into planks before we bring it back! Itâll take a couple of trips though. Also, you really need to use Synthesis when dawn comes. This is eating into you pretty badly again.â Alicia replied, adding her concerns. âIâll be fine. Donât worry too much.â the Bayleef retorted with a chuckle. â⌠I canât help it, ever since Jarzick. I donât want to see you go to the Everworld againâŚâ the pinkette muttered. The pair fell silent at that, and the rest would hear the boom of a decently sized tree being felled. It didnât help matters for Alicia that she was getting a sense of distant, impending doom while she was in Mistra⌠Still, hero aspirant and Bayleef would return shortly dragging numerous planks of blackened wood. Tikani had ended up yoked via some kind of vine cluster, letting Alicia tie a number of planks for her to drag. Not to say that the Bayleef was doing all the work. Alicia was using a similar vine cluster of her own to drag an almost equal number of planks towards the base camp. âYou did not have to push yourself like thatâŚâ Tikani could be heard griping in concern as Alicia heaved for breath. The pinkette raised a hand, requesting a moment to catch a second wind. âNo. I fully⌠understand that⌠I overdid it. But I when I loaded you up like that, It left me feeling horrible, so I had to pull my own weight too. It was only fair.â Alicia explained. âAnyways, quick gorilla math⌠I need cuts here⌠here⌠and here.âThe pinkette had carefully used the massive solar glaive she had made and held on to this whole time to carefully make several notches in one of the planks, before going to the effort to stack them all together. Tikani heaved a sigh and obeyed with precision controlled Magical Leaves. Nodding, Alicia then took each section of plank one by one. Carefully using that same glaive to cut notches into each plank by hand and with only the naked eye and mental calculations. âThose cuts seem too deliberate to be random. What are you doing?â Tikani asked in wonder. âWell, normally, you need hardware like nails or screws to drive into the wood to hold the pieces together. As you can see, however, we lack such hardware.â Alicia began. At Tikaniâs confirming hum, the pinkette continued. âHowever, I remember seeing these short videos a number of times of how you can cut notches out of the wood at precise angles. As long as there was enough material on either side of the notch, and the appropriate mirrored cuts were made on the other piece, you could bind wood together with just the friction of the two pieces gripping each other. Seamless, when done with a machine at least, and effective when low on metal resources.ââAnd youâre doing this by hand. From memory.â Tikani noted incredulously. âWhen what you just described sounds like it needs to be done with specially tuned machinery.ââIâm good at math.â Alicia excused audaciously. Hammering two prepared pieces together with her fists, she tested the joint she made and nodded in approval. Thus did Tikani watch in wonder as Alicia built a framework for them to mount fronds, any blankets that might be present in the Jeep of Many Things, and other such coverings. With the additions secured to the Jeep, their little base had been expanded just sufficiently enough that the five of them and their Pokemon could rest within. There was still a decent enough amount of material left over that they could effect repairs if Something Unfortunate, like a rampaging Gyarados, occurred. âAlright, Iâm gonna go take a walk. Someone holler if you need or want me.âOf course, the pinkette was definitely not going to go far. The flame beast from earlier was reason enough to not stray too far away from support. But she needed to get her space too. After all⌠this was a mock up of Survivor! It had those clips where the player got to tell some of their feelings and experiences in the game so far! And she was pretty sure she saw Morgana pulling nonsense of a similar type. So she found herself a little nook in some tree roots and sat herself down. Imagining where the camera might be if this were the real deal, she hummed to herself. âIf thereâs one thing that can be said about this season⌠itâs certainly one of the most overtly dangerous ones. It makes me miss the old host if Iâm being honest. I swear that this new one has a screw loose somewhere. The landscape is actively hostile, the local fauna are legitimately a threat to life and limb. Itâs not like weâre just going to pop back up fine and well if we get mauled!âShe had to stop and suppress a snicker at her poke towards the game mechanic of respawning. âBut I canât deny that for the martially inclined of us, thereâs opportunity to put our names out there as amazing people. You wouldnât catch the likes of Boston Rob wrestling one of those freak shows down after all! ⌠Who do I think is the favorite? Heh⌠would it be too presumptuous to say I am? I mean, Iâm showing my strengths here already. And Iâve got a surprise in store if they get the idea of trying to gang up on me. Okay okay. Real answer, Sarah. Something about her just screams âin controlâ. If I have to worry about anyone at this stage, itâs probably her. Rose⌠letâs be real, kidâs probably not got a single deliberately deceptive bone in her body. I donât know Kyukon well, but he seems like a walking disaster. And Wolf⌠Wolfâs the wildcard here.âAlicia felt like sheâd probably gone over her allotted time there. She never actually timed the POV segments so she had no real frame of reference. But that was her take on the thought. With that all said and done, she got back up and returned to the camp. But not before a brief little scavenger hunt for another âidolâ. You could never be too safe. âââââââââââââââââââââââ Prompt: Expand the Base, Record a Fake POV. 7luEGb5m1-6 1-6
