Blinding rains and deafening winds, howling gale and shattering thunder... All this and more had reached the aisle, and yet it could hardly even be said that the storm itself had yet to reach the land in full. It could be said that all of this was of direct concern to Lucky Guy, and yet it wasn't what took up his attention at the moment. Instead, he focused on the issue at hand. There was a great storm coming. Who needed the most help but the residents of the aisle itself? If Lucky knew anything about Pokémon, it was that they at least paused their incessant squabbles to cooperate when there was a disaster present. He knew it, he saw it in the anime so many times. That's why he thought to build a large, universal shelter from the storm in the largest hill he could find in the jungle. An upwards slanted hovel, he needed to do a lot of digging-and boy had he been. Pain settings or no, Lucky had more boundless energy than he ever had in real life. He'd minecrafted the hell out of a massive space for Pokémon to hide in. As of now, he was doing minor things for it. Wooden floor and support structures, small tunnels (dug by his Wurmple) that led to places just under trees so as to not be in the rain's flow, water gutters and rain shields to protect said air holes from stray water anyway... As well as a lot of wooden structuring just to advertise the place to any Pokémon passing by. All without being destructible, of course. All Lucky could hope for at this point was help. Help in the form of work, help in the form of God smiling upon him and not sending any aggressive Pokémon his way... help in general with his life as he'd been playing this game for way too long recently. inari orioncayge (as well as whoever else wants to hop on in for this project!)

"GET OFF OF MY FACE THAT IS QUITE ENOUGH!" Thinking he was alone in the moment Inari allowed himself a momentary outburst as wurmples clung to his face and shoulders, attempting to find relief from the water that was surging in the area he had found them in. The sensation of their tiny creepy feet crawling over his face caused him to shudder in real life. It was strange and irritating.
But nonetheless he couldn't exactly put them down anywhere either. Not right now. He hadn't found a safe place to put them yet. But he trudged further in, hearing the sounds of someone else existing in this place. Not that it was unlikely. After all this was some sort of game wide event. So he'd need to regain composure and ignore the feeling of bugs crawling literally on his face.
Clearing his throat he tried to get the other players attention. "Do you know where we are directing these bugs to?" His voice was calm but internally he just wanted to be free of them at last.

"Hm? What?" Wait, was God above actually responding to his prayers for once? A glance around confirmed that yes, there actually was a player running into him in this blasted beta! Perhaps the world was small after all. He could only wonder how he didn't notice the shelter entrance though. Perhaps it was because of the Wurmples on him...
Or perhaps it was because the entryway was blocked. Indeed, he'd cut down a few trees for wood yet it was still a dense place. Lucky gave a quick and sharp whistle as well as a tap to a large grouping of ferns that blocked the sight of the shelter in question. This whistle wasn't just for Inari's sake. Quick as a flash of lightning that struck the canopy's backdrop, the ferns were cut into ribbons by razor wings.
Behind Lucky stood a shadow that wasn't there before. It was the looming figure of Omen who stood above her master's own height. Her whispers were just as quiet as ever despite the raging storm drowning them out-or trying to, yet her sentiments that she would deal with the obstructions in the way of our new home were carried across to Lucky's ears regardless.
"Yeah, 'atta girl. Give those trees a boot out of our bar, yeah? And you there, the shelter's right over there! Take a floor up past the entrance, the bugs would like how warm it is up there!"

Finally. A way to get these creatures off of him. Them chattering away at him in various voices due to pokespeech being on was going to give him a migraine. He couldn't focus on anything until he saw the entryway finally cleared. Which meant that he was able to take them inside. One by one he began to peel the bugs off. Sticking them to the walls as he climbed up into the shelter until none of them were left on his own person.
The wurmples gathered together in the warm, dry room and began to wiggle their bodies in the air. As if they were having a little wurmple party to celebrate the safety. It was really, really weird. Lightning flashes lit the room like an awkward rave or maybe even wurmple cult as Inari backed out of the room a bit to find the person who had built the shelter.

Lucky himself could be found just outside, relaxing on a tree stump that had been cut down by the aforementioned Decidueye that had cleared the path for Inari earlier. He thought it prudent to take a little bit of a breather after shoveling for hours. The rain did wonders for helping him feel refreshed when he didn't have to worry about things like whether the wrinkling of fingers would be simulated (they weren't) or whether he would catch a cold (he didn't).
"Aye, you there! God shine on you, friend. Are you just passing through, or would you like to stay a while and help? This isn't a contract job or anythin', we're just here to have something to kill the time with, Omen and I. My other Pokémon Will'o'd be here to help, too, but they're a bit tuckered out you see. They don't do very well in the rain. Just me and the lass for now 'cause of that.
We're doing renovations to the ol' hovel we've dug out now. Quite a lot of space in there, if you haven't explored it yourself yet. Bet you haven't. Ha! You came out too quick for that. If you wanna help out, what's say you..." His voice paused as something caught the corner of his eye. The stroke of lightning that had passed by had illuminated something other than the forest this time. Lucky swore that he'd seen eyes in the distance.
"Did you catch that, too?" He asked. Omen hooted a quiet confirmation that yes, they had.

He wasn't particularly religious. Not after all of the shit his family had given him in the name of it. But each to their own because he wasn't going down that rabbit hole at the moment. "It was all I could do to get those... grateful... bugs to leave me be so they could remain in safety." Not to mention they creeped him out. But he could live with that.
He was mildly confused when the other party said that there was something afoot. Especially since the weather was nasty and he hadn't been paying attention. "Is something there?" He turned to look, his hand on the pokeball that hung from his sleeve. Just in case. His pokemon wouldn't be very good in the rain. But it would be something.

Lucky felt it prudent to reveal that which lie in the dark. Those eyes he'd seen had not looked friendly, and Lucky would be darned if he took an insult to his hard work like this lying down. This shelter wasn't a place for Pokémon looking to pick a fight to hang out. He'd be teaching the forest this lesson very clearly as of now.
Letting Will'o loose from their ball, he answered the questioning stare of his Delphox with a finger the way they came from and a command, "Light up the forest, would ya? I want a better look at what's in there."
A few small faerie fires were tossed astray from Will's wand into the forest, and who lie behind the gleaming eyes was revealed...
It indeed seemed to be angry. "Alright, first job, then. Help me calm this guy down!"

The creature in question to be calmed was nothing more than one of those little grass turtles that he had seen waddling around. Not exactly the most dangerous thing and probably more than anything it was stressed about not being able to get to safety very quickly. After all, those legs were short and it was a lot of work getting through some of that underbrush when you were in a hurry and the ground was wet. Why was he so frightened of a turtle anyways. With a hmmph sound he flicked his wrist away from his Pokeball and instead leaned down as gracefully as he could to confront the small turtle.
"See? It's just a small guy. It's probably agitated looking for shelter is all." If they just directed it towards the shelter then maybe it would be easy enough to convince it that it was a safe place to hide. "Brashness doesn't win favor." Instead it got you people like Furrlicity Purrfection who annoyed him to no end. "Here now, see? There is a warm and dry place to keep you safe over there. Would you care for assistance?" Holding his hand out for the Pokemon he wondered if he was about to get bitten.

It appeared that what sentiment Inari was shared by the other man in the clearing. What was once a distinct caution broke away as soon as he saw the Turtwig as a whole. Sure, it was a big Turtwig, but he was still a little guy altogether.
"Ah... Sorry. I get spooked when I see something I don't expect. It's a reflex, I'm sure you can get it." Lucky took a kneel by Inari's side just as the Turtwig in question clamped his huge and angry jaws right onto his fingers. Wow. That must suck on realistic pain settings. He decided to help out by prying the little bugger off for him.
The turtle itself seemed relatively friendly after that-just had a habit of biting things in front of its' mouth, it did. Lucky thought that it was acting quite realistic in that manner. He assisted Inari in escorting the little guy to the shelter, but the Turtwig insisted on following the two around even when they left the shelter to work again.
That's why the Turtwig was out with them in the rain. "Alright, so I've got these trees cut down right now. I've turned them into material just before ya got here, so all I need help with is stringing them up to make the whole place sturdier. Sound good?"

He'd not really cared much about doing the hard labor part of all of this. Especially when he had already been working so hard to get the Pokemon taken care of. And he definitely wasn't looking forward to putting up walls or anything. Which meant he needed to find another job to do before this guy roped him into working his muscles more.
"Shouldn't one of us focus on gathering food for the Pokemon inside? Since you've already got the materials it makes sense that I should gather some of the food." That way he wouldn't have to trade off the items and Inari wouldn't have to worry about breaking his back over pixels. Other people could worry about that. Like this other guy.

Lucky could feel it-an inkling of the short few days that they'd worked retail as a teenager came nagging at the back of his mind. This guy wanted something easier than what he was offering... Thankfully, Lucky had a few ideas to begin with. It had been why he'd offered the hard work first thing-Sure, it would have been nice if they'd accepted, but it was really to make the other jobs seem nice in comparison.
"Yeah, sure, if you think so. Don't think that the Pokémon themselves have much care for food at a time like this, though-they're a bit stuck in danger programming right now, if you catch my drift. Ah, but I do have another offer-Could you help me out by checking around the hillside here? Just stick a marker point down whenever you find a place on the hill you think has a good slope on it--I'll come by later to build some drain channels around it. You might even find some lost Pokémon along the way!" It was a big damn hill, sure-but walking surely wasn't that unappealing of an offer. Hell, if this guy was new it'd even help him with the initial travel distance quest that Lucky himself had knocked out of the park on his nightly walks around the islands. He hoped the offer didn't sound too bad, as someone still needed to figure out how the hill was shaped.

Inari wrinkled his nose just a little bit. Especially since this guy seemed to be trying to boss him around, something he absolutely wasn't going to tolerate at the best of times. And this most definitely wasn't the best of times. "So what are they supposed to do then? After the storm is done and they can't find any food?" You have to think ahead for these things and that seemed to be the sort of thought that this guy lacked. "You can't just think about the now. You have to think about the after."
Big words coming from a guy who left his home to be with a scammer and then got dumped but what could he say? You live and you learn. He didn't care about trudging up hills and making ridges or whatever. A Pokemon could do that just fine. He would do what he wanted to. And to prove his point plucked a large fruit from one of the trees and shoved it in his inventory. There.

Lucky couldn't tell exactly what this guy was thinking, but it was clearly against what he himself had hoped for. Was it just that Lucky himself was being brash for asking for help? Was it that this was just a guy really obsessed with Pokémon? Maybe he thought that if he kept acting like they weren't code, they'd start displaying more heart to him or something. Surely some magical event like that couldn't happen... Right?
Omen thought she would be a hoot by informing him that Inari did not see him as his master. Lucky is0 a poor trainer today.
"Yes, lass, I can see that, thank you."
He couldn't understand what the guy was trying to do anymore. Perhaps in the rain, things were just too chaotic to call for cooperation right now. That was alright. Lucky left the man to his devices, hoping whatever Inari did would make the island's HP would go up as he himself went back to taking wood to shelter.
He was not just isolating himself because he was grumpy. He was not! Things were just too hectic for him right now, that was all. The turtwig nibbling on his boots didn't do wonders for his focus, either.

Bossing people around in a video game without even asking their name was kind of a pathetic move in Inari's mind. If you wanted to get people to do your work for you or to do the work you wanted them to, you had to get to know them first. Friendship was the first form of manipulation. After all he knew that personally. Next was romance. Both things he was avoiding at the moment. Batting his eyelashes at someone wouldn't be the worst thing to get what he wanted but he was drawing the line at that.
This guy was also just not paying attention to the objectives in game. As food was gathered the points went up. If you focused too much on one objective in the game even if you managed to technically get the right amount of points there were consequences to that. Sure you built a shelter in your survival game but now all of your villagers starved to death because no one thought to bring any food.
"He doesn't deserve that turtle thing..."
Inari muttered to himself as he cut down some more of the fruit. Wistfully thinking about the fact that he should have stolen the turtle while he had it's attention.
