Patch 0.1 is here, and with it, the opening of Beta Island! This glorious, sunlit isle is just a hop, skip and a shipwreck away from the Asper mainland, and is full of lush, untextured jungle, buggy beaches, and Pokemon that run according to their programming.

What better opportunity to encourage there to be such a district than now? Taking inspiration from successful bar-cades in the real world, the camera following Josh zoomed out and to a top-down view over a wide and long, single-story building that looked like it used to be a nightclub. Without a mass delete command, it was equally tedious for Josh to remove unwanted items as it was for his large Pokémon, who appeared on rotation from strongest to weakest to move the old décor out. Granmarg, Nitro, and Braver did much of the early work, the hulking and steadfast Mudsdale, Gogoat, and Arcanine. After what seemed like hours, the three exhausted Pokémon had finished vacating the room. Josh went back into first-person mode to withdraw the three, replacing them with a Rapidash, Boltund, and Alolan Ninetales, making sore the latter two had their Huge Seals on their Poké Balls first. The first step was designing the outer entrance and the bright, neon sign. Its bulbs and tubes deep greens, blues, and purples, it would read WYLDSIDE, prominently in the Ultra Beast language but with a translation below. Both the outer entrance and the breezeway would look disorienting, modeled like a tunnel often used to represent time travel in modern science fiction media. Development of Wyldside, post 1

Remembering the layout well, much of his inspiration came from what he remembered of the happy place filled with good food, drinks, and Dance Dance Revolution. Dividing his space into two sections, the blonde and his Pokémon got to work on the more mundane one. Resuming a top-down view, Josh set up the basics of a bar and restaurant. Circular television screens were scattered on the walls, playing sports-related broadcasts and reruns, including the very ASPER CUP he participated in months ago. Perhaps, one day, there would be an Ostellia Cup? Even the bar stools, tables, and chairs would look out of the ordinary; the backs of the booths and chairs looked like green, blue, or purple pea pods, the chair and table legs themselves were stylized with intricate curvatures that somehow supported weight just as well as solid, straight metal, and the chairs themselves were cross-shaped rather than round. Small domes in the center of each table eliminated the need for servers, the cooks in the lower-level kitchen able to send patrons their orders through tubes connected to each table. Recalling them, he replaced them with a Galarian Rapidash, Manectric, and Zebstrika, putting them to work in getting the main attraction together: the arcade itself. The blonde organized it into sections, keeping the louder rhythm games in a cordoned-off large room to keep them from being disruptive for patrons who wanted to play older, more traditional arcade games. Just about anything imaginable was present: redemption games, air hockey, video games far older than even the real-world Josh was, and of course, the child's dream of having almost every major rhythm game under the sun under one roof. Having worn out a third set of Pokémon, Josh decided to put the finishing touches on development himself: the signage. While it looked alien, the place lacked a sense of edginess to it. Rather than opting for traditional neon signs, he instead went with graffiti-style signs that were more immersive, but a bit harder to read.
