Was visiting a Shrine so soon strictly necessary? Not really. But that Mew in the Tower of Cats had packed a punch, and Genesis had another battle waiting in the wings, and hey, better safe than sorry. Besides, they were chasing after different classes to unlock, and this particular shrine happened to be featured in one of them... for whatever reason...
"A little help?" Genesis' voice sounded quieter than they had intended, weak almost, as they spoke out loud with nobody but the shrine itself there to hear them.

The Giant Shrine is as tall and imposing as ever, and just like every time they have visited it, Balerion seems utterly awed by the sight of it. It's endearing, really. He can be pretty cute when he's not ranting about how amazing he is.
Domino smirks and gives the steel spire a hearty pat pat pat, speaking a prayer for her pokémon to be healed:
"How's it going? Been getting some good sacrifices lately? Hope our lord and savior, lover of steel and sparky sparks, grows big and strong, ya? Now... can you spare a heal or two?"
That should do the trick, no?

Sarah dismounted her Duraludon and stared up, trying to find the point where the spire ended and the sky began. It was an impossible task from this close to the base of the tower, and she was more likely to fall over backwards than find that invisible seam.
She lost the staring contest with the sky and looked away, eyes watering.
Lightning snapped through the sky like neon rubber, slapping against the tower and making Freedom groaned like a stressed girder.
Sarah laid a hand on him and he calmed, grinding his massive steel feet into the topsoil. He closed his eyes, settling down for a long wait. This wasn't the first time they'd come to the shrine to 'think'.
Sarah turned her gaze back to the sky. One day she would win the staring contest, and the heavens would buckle under the weight of her will. One day.

Valentine didn't feel too bad, really, but she knew better than to trust that. She'd been in a couple battles now without healing, and that was enough to whittle her Tall Grass HP down, even when her opponents weren't especially fierce. She didn't want to take her health for granted, didn't want to risk plunging into battle after battle until she found herself whiting out by accident.
No, better to solve the problem at its root.
Though Valentine never knew what exactly to do, or say, at shrines. Usually she filled the air with pointless blabber, trying to thank what probably couldn't hear her words anyway, but this time she wasn't feeling it. Instead, Valentine paused in front of the shrine, took a deep breath, and closed her eyes before letting that deep breath out slowly but surely. It felt like a pause, like letting something out, getting rid of any tension that she'd had building up inside of her. It felt right.

Jinx still felt a little odd, visiting the shrines, going to what was canonically some sort of spiritual center dedicated to legendary Pokemon just to get her health back. Why couldn't this be like the other games and have you just speak to a nurse at the, uh... what were they called... Pokemon Houses? At least then there would be a clear conversation partner, a goal that made sense in-game as well as out of it.
Or was the shrine being a place of healing meant to make sense in this game's lore as well? Was she actually getting healed by the legendary Pokemon themselves every time?
It was a big thought for a small girl to have, and so Jinx just stared up at the immense stature of the Giant Shrine and considered for a moment what, exactly, she would be drawing her newfound power from.

Genesis ran to the shrine without even a hint of hesitation. That Duraludon really could hit like a truck! Maybe he needed to get more Tall Grass HP to prevent this from being an issue in the future... but for now it was just him and the shrine, tall and gleaming like the Duraludon that had sent him here in the first place...

Even with that other player jumping in there to help her with the Duraludon, Jinx wasn't sure she'd survive its attack without a shrine visit in between, and when the other player had run to the shrine, well... Jinx had followed. The wild Duraludon would be there when she got back, that much she knew. Better to heal up now, somewhere with even more towering metal than she'd found in that wild encounter in the Steppes, and then come back recharged and raring to go.

Genesis was... tired.
They hadn't been through any big battles or anything like that. In fact, that was itself much of the problem. Just fighting wild Pokemon had been enough to drain their Tall Grass HP slowly but surely, and while they had snagged a couple new Pokemon in return, it still seemed like almost more trouble than it was worth...
Would they be able to fight, when a real battle came along? Would they be able to hold their own when a world event demanded it of them?
Genesis wasn't sure, really, not when a mere settlement battle sent them scurrying off to a Shrine for healing. And that was what scared them most of all.

Mismatched eyes gaze up towards the highest point of the enormous monument, quite the difference from the dark precipice into which they stare so often. A shrine to the sky and a shrine to the deep. The choice between them is obvious to her.
Still, dragon hunting is not an easy profession to take, and its toll makes itself clear on both Tuesday and her companions. It's time to rest and heal, and for that, a stop by the giant shrine is necessary.
Does she pray? No.
She does offer gratitude, though.
"Thank you." The words are whispered when a gloved hand touches still, feeling the charge of electricity.

Crap, crap, crap, crap!
That was all Aero was thinking right now as she was rushing to the Shrine with her unconscious Fuecoco in her arms. After that wild Rufflet knocked him out, she was trying to do everything to get to her destination without any second thoughts. From the tutorial, she learned she could revive her Pokemon in a Shrine nearby if she could hurry. Besides, the wild Rufflet was still out there and she was not giving up, especially now that she wanted revenge for hurting her Fuecoco.
Eventually, she could feel the static around her body and her only Pokemon was now recovered. With that taken care of, she has one thing left in her mind.
"Alright, you little birdie! It's payback time!"

It had been quite a long time since Lucky had first come to this place. Perhaps such distance, in the end, was a good thing both for he and the shrine itself. The passive aggression between the two had been unhealthy at best, the time spent together having brought out the worst in both. Even still, Lucky couldn't help but feel that he missed the poor floating rock for all the time he'd been gone from it.
"Oi, did you miss me?" Lucky asked. As he was talking to a large, floating rock, there was naturally no response that could be given to the man. He'd both expected this from the beginning yet found it disappointing all the same. The static which flew in the air and prickled his hairs when he got heated underneath the sacred monument had yet to even appear. Nature surely forgets and smooths over every bad time beneath the earth, and it occurred to Lucky that perhaps he had been expecting too much for a response from a mere simulation of it.
Would it only be that Lucky were a rational man. Instead, he took his healing before storming away, unhappy for reasons that he could hardly explain.

Morgana flashed past the Giant Shrine, arms and legs pumping, a small herd of Blitzle hot on her tail. It was a beautiful and natural scene straight out of something from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Almost. It was probably more like something out of the 3D Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron Netflix remake, i.e goofy and sorely lacking Hans Zimmer.
"Oh hold on, I've been meaning to sacrifice something here," she said, making a hard left with the little zebras still whinnying and galloping after her. She attempted to access her inventory while running around the giant steel skyscraper. "Curses, what was it..." It couldn't be any of her precious Magikarps, and her screen was shaking too much for her to see anything else.
She gave up and minimized the UI after doing a couple laps and took off again, tendrils of lightning sparking at her heels.

Unfortunately for Duraludon, the battle took place at the Giant Shrine.
"Don't worry, Crony," Bergamot said calmly, standing on the crest of the hill. Her hair whipped behind her as the storm crackled overhead. There was a flash, and a single fork of lightning stabbed down, drawn immediately to the Giant Shrine's imposing spire. Static crackled in the air, sweet as ozone.
"We're invincible."
Duraludon's beam attack hit at the same time the Giant Shrine 's power activated. Bergamot's Salandit was engulfed by two sources of light and power- one healing, one destructive. Two poles, positive and negative. But which would win out?
The Giant Shrine, of course.
It was immense. It was incomparable. To Duraludon, the Giant Shrine was a skyscraper, and the dragon-type Pokemon was just a tin can tossed in the dirt.

Oops.
Yggy guessed the Duraludon had hit Randy, at least a little, because the nearby Shrine started fizzing and crackling like pop rocks on ice cream. "Woo! Here it comes!" Yggy yelled, frizzy hair on end due to the static, bunching her fists. "Three! Two! One!"
Lightning seemed to fill her blood, her vision tunneling for a moment. Health flowed back into her party like electricity through a conduit. Her Sandile might have been a ground-type, but this power saturated everything. The earth, the grass, the players battling. Its scope was huge.
Giant, even.
"So cool!"

"Oh for fuck's sake," Bergamot said, sitting up as lightning lanced through her blood, summoning her back from the brink of the Everworld.
Who would have thought Crony 2012, her carefully selected poison-type for this steel-type Duraludon battle, could have fainted so easily? The Duraludon must have packed quite a punch to actually knock them out, especially with the Giant Shrine so close.
Morgana took stock of herself. She was flat on her back in the dirt. Nearby, the male Salandit was also stirring, looking dazed from whatever enormous attack had pulverized it to begin with.
And the Duraludon?
She was almost afraid to look.
