GIANT SHRINEThe Giant Shrine rises like a steel skyscraper, indifferent to your presence. This shrine is massive. Imposing. It's a tremendous, diamond-shaped piece of metal as large as a skyscraper, with the bottom third dug deep into the ground as if it were a spear hurled from the heavens.
The air is sweet with ozone, and veins of blue static creep across the metal like veins.
NEW! The Giant Shrine wakes, tearing itself free of its bindings in a shower of black earth. It rises into the air. And not just the shrine– all around the Steppes, steel spires free themselves from their tethers. They hang in the sky above the Steppes like an invasion fleet of raw, iron spaceships.
NEW! The Giant Shrine is gone! See this post for details..
Approach the Shrine...
When you reach 0 HP, you can bring your fainted Pokemon to the shrine. Make a post in this thread and the mysterious energy within the monument will restore them to full health. POKEMON CAN BE CHANGED TO GALARIAN FORM AT THIS LOCATION.

Orion felt like he was gonna puke most of the way, each step of his horse sent jolts of pain trailing up his ribs. His vision was blury, his face slick with sweat and dirt. This was not what he'd expected whilst daydreaming during work. He'd dreamed of Yees and Haws, blasting away pokemon and banditos whilst blasting cheese off greasy plates. Not getting his ribs cracked by an annoying fucking fly. As the approached, he could feel the ozone crackling around his skin, and strangely his soreness was beginning to abate. By the time they'd arrived at the base of the tower, he could only marvel at the sheer size of it. Then what exactly he was looking at struck him.
"Do you think the devs over at Hydance have a sick sense of humor?" Orion asked his companion as he stared at the tower, his pain slowly fading away. "Cause boy howdy this looks like that fucking bedrock shrine all the fuck over again." He furrowed his brow. "Who could this be you think? Registeel maybe? Uh...Ozone and sky tower could be like..Rayquizzle. We did just deal with Kyogre and Groudon, he'd make sense to be next. Maybe like...a Deoxys if they're feeling spicy. Ooh!" He snapped his fingers. "Both. Both is good, one of them is gonna show up and we're gonna have to get the others help to beat their ass!"
Well, at least he was feeling better. It was hard to hurt when you're feeling dread.

Big Bee rode in with Orion, keeping the horses as calm and steady as he could. The shrine crackled above them, and he could only marvel at the sheer scale. "Was the Bedrock Shrine this big?" he asked, gazing up at the steel that disappeared into the sky.
He felt himself healing. The cuts and scrapes from the carriage crash and Yanma clash healing over as they approached the base. "You feeling any better man? How are those ribs holding up?" he asked. "We've gotta get you some more Tall Grass HP. You went down in two hits! And either that Yanma is some ex-UFC champion of you haven't decked yourself out stat-wise yet."
At the mention of Groudon, Big Bee reaches for his bag. "Oh yeah! That reminds me! Check this out, man!"
Big Bee brought out his Groudon egg. It steamed, sometimes quivering under his touch, as if the Pokemon inside was almost ready to hatch. "How sick is this?" he asked, grinning as he held out the large egg. "Professor Ash said it needed danger and fire to hatch, so maybe I should start riding with it."
Oricorio climbed onto his shoulder, looking down at the egg. She hopped onto it and sat down, curling her sizzling wings around it. "See? I knew bringing it out was a good idea. That's gotta help."

Orion found himself staggering here, collapsing on one knee as he clutched his Dewpider to his chest. He looked up to the shrine, fear and hope in his eyes. "Please." He pleaded. "Give my team enough strength to win the day, let them be safe..." The spider looked up to him worried, but too scared to utter a word. Once the shrine had done its magic, he stood up and began to run back the way he came, hoping for a miracle.

Lucky found himself staggering towards the shrine, as all others had before him. This place was brutal. To think that even a single Drillbur could give him such trouble... It was incredible. This whole route was incredible. Lucky knew it well and made a promise to himself-He needed to get stronger if he wanted to keep up with this game. The difficulty spike was vertical, and Lucky would fancy himself to be a rock climber.
"Yeah, I know... I'm making you stronger with this. Just you wait, you broken generator-I'm gonna make you regret coming out of your floating brick there if you try to strike out at me for it! Remember that!"

Lucky returned back to the shrine a second time. This time he was drenched in water, furious as he had been before when he'd been dragged into the waves of the Steppes' many rivers that dotted the landscape.
"Alright, so maybe I'd gotten ahead of myself. I was a wee bit rude to ya. I'm sorry, alright? I'm sorry for showin' off in front of ya. I'll do better this time, so please lower the difficulty or... or lift whatever the heck kind of curse you put on me. Seriously. These wild Pokemon have been wild, shrine man..."
This simple apology was coupled with a regretful bow towards the shrine as he repented for his sin of arrogance.

And then Lucky returned again. This... He didn't actually even have a good excuse to explain what had happened-He had been up and struck by lightning on his way out of the shrine.
"What the hell do you want, Zeus?! I'm just trying to enjoy your steppes out here and you want to rain on my day? I'll fight you right now, you bastard! Come down here! I'm doing this raid boss a month early-fight me!" The shrine did not come down to fight Lucky as he wished. Static filled his body, and lightning raced through his blood. It reminded him of what had just happened to him. That didn't help his mood one bit.
A roar to the heavens was all he had left. Lucky threw the soggy hat he had in his hand on the ground and left the shrine. This just wasn't his day today...

Lucky once again sat at the base of the shrine. His limbs were limp, his body lying on the cold stone in the rain. He didn't know what he had done to get beat up so badly. All he knew was that this shrine and he... they were having some sort of moment. He certainly hadn't wound up at any other shrine so damn often, nor did they seem to change as he came and went.
The Giant Shrine was different. The rain could be thicker or thinner, or sometimes it wouldn't be there at all. Sometimes the grey clouds sat solemnly, as if to judge Lucky under their shade. It was almost like a personality, though Lucky was probably just projecting onto the shrine as usual. He needed to stop that. The game wasn't out to get him or anything. Lucky was just letting himself fall out of tempo at the notion that it could.
"Hey, Shrine. We meet again. I guess I'm your number one at this point, huh? You and I're sitting here like an afterglow from a good slug-out after a few drinks. If there's somebody in there, I just wanted to say... It's personal. I don't know if I like you or if I hate you. I don't know if you think about me at all. But for me... you mean something."
His time at the shrine had become something like a routine each night. The vicious strength of Asper knocked Lucky on his ass, and so he would come here once again. It was like he was drawn to the place. He felt most relaxed at this shrine, that much was certain. Lucky has always loved the rain.

Manish’s first stop in the new area was the shrine. His pokemon weren’t hurting too badly, but with Egg and Egg 2 still snoozing away in his sleeves it was clear that they weren’t totally back in fighting shape.
As he approached the shrine, Manish took one look up and immediately had to drop his eyes down from the vertigo that hit him hard. There was a bad feeling growing in the pit of his stomach. And not bad like he got at the other Shrines due to them probably containing giant monsters that were going to kill him, no, this was something he had felt a few times before. Just a wrongness of something that large.
He kept his eyes on the ground as he got closer but could still feel his mouth fill up with spit while the nausea grew stronger. Okay, nope, not sticking around here any longer than he needed to. He quickly touched the weird metal thing sticking out of the ground before turning around and bolting in the other direction.

Manish walked next to Ryan, one hand on his side and his eyes closed. He really didn’t want to deal with vertigo so soon after recovering from it. Thankfully Ryan made a pretty good seeing eye dog. Or, well, seeing eye toad.
<Alright bud, keep your eyes down. I'm touching the thing now to get all healed up.>
Manish covered his already closed eyes with his free hand, just to really make sure he didn’t look.

The Klink he had been fighting had really taken something out of him. That something being his health. He wasn't really sure why it was so strong but it probably had something to do with the fact that he was still a beginner. Maybe some upgrades would help... But for now he was going to go get healed up and then beat up that Klink. Yeah.
Approaching the shrine he gently touched it with one of his hands, getting Applesauce healed up was the main priority right now. Plus his own tall grass HP stat was super low now too... Only a three... That was terrifying really.

Olga pulled up to the Giant Shrine and ran a hand down the smooth surface. “Olga heal,” she told the Shrine. She didn’t bother to actually take out any of her pokemon to heal. She figured that whatever magic coding went into the shrine didn’t really care if the pokemon were out or not. Besides, she did the majority of the fighting. Maybe not the taking damage part, but she did the fighting and that had to count for something.

Olga pulled up at the Giant Shrine again, bouncing her Mudbray’s pokeball up and down. Just this once she released it from her pokeball and in a flash of light the mule appeared.
“Run normal?” She asked Mudbray. The pokemon took a few hesitant steps forward and upon realizing that she was, in fact, no longer zooming abnormally fast, she kicked her legs in joy and pranced over to the Shrine to heal.

Eyes welled up as he felt himself get brought back to the Shrine. This time not by choice but because he had messed up badly enough that he'd been forced to white out. It sucked and it felt bad. He really wasn't cut out for this sort of thing he guessed. But he couldn't stop now. Wiping his face he leaned against the shrine a little for support. Trying to get some of his energy back. Eventually he wouldn't have to come back to the shrines like this. Eventually he would be strong enough to take out any Pokemon. At least he hoped he would.

Sarah strode forward, stopping just short of the pillar's shadow. "So this is the giant shrine," she said, gaze moving up the massive metal piece until her neck cricked and she had to squint against the sunlight.
How did it get here?
How did any of the metal pillars that skewered the steppes get here?
Sarah knew it was a game, but geography was never without reason.
Had something placed them here? Had erosion cut away the fetile land from some steel-veined valley, leaving only these lightningrods? It was a mystery with no clear answer.
She stepped into the shadow of the shrine and felt her skin tingle. Statis jumped between the aglets on her shoes and the buttons on her dress. Her hair ornament hummed just below middle C.
"There's so much power here," she whispered, creeping closer to the dormant shrine. "Just like the high tide shrine."
She hadn't been at the bedrock shrine with the others during the great sacrifice, but the retellings were fresh in her mind as she stepped closer, coming right up to the metal surface of the pillar.
It was like a building. A skyscraper. A mega-construct. No. It seemed almost alive. A gundam? An Eva? She couldn't fit the pieces in her mind. It was insanely huge, yet the waves of lightning felt like an irregular heartbeat.
It wasn't all coming from the sky.
Some of the energy came from deep within. An ion heart pulsing with scattering electrons. It was enough to make her wonder.
She took out Klink'd Pokeball. She'd caught many new Pokemon recently, but there were some less promising than others.
