Ice tilted under Sarah, and she dug her studded boots into the chunk beneath her. "Chell! Ron! Freedom!" she shouted, but the icy wind tearing down the river whipped away her words. Her team materialized on adjacent icy platforms, and burning claws and trotters scrabbled for purchase. Freedom's bulk weighed down its platform, which now rode low in the stream, icy water lapping across his steel, pillarous feet.
Suddenly the icy wind cut out, and Sarah caught a glimpse of their opponent: an oversized Glaceon. The creature was reared back, its lungs full of frost pulled from the fridig air, and Sarah realized that the wind had been its doing, not some part of the battle map. "Attack positions!" she called, voice clear and high, and her team launched into action.
Glaceon exhaled bitter breath, which roared across the river like the swatting hand of an icy giant. Sarah hunkered down as rime built a crackling skin across her thin, silken wrap. Her Kindler heat battled the frost, which melted, rebuilt, and melted again in a messy cycle that left her sizzling like water spilt on a stovetop. She brought up her UI and equipped her winter gear, pulling down her snow goggles.

Her team had been here before. Had fought this same battle, though now she was determined to do it solo. She was a winner. An elite. And an ace trainer needed to be able to stand proud, alone and unchallenged in their prowess.
Ron and Chell flared, their ragged, raging flames clearly visible through the icy wind. She'd lost sight of Freedom in the flurry though, and only caught sight of him as Glaceon inhaled again. "Destroy the ice!" Sarah shouted, and her paired fire types bathed Glaceon in a litany of flames. Frozen platforms cracked with boiling fury as ice turned to liquid, and then to steam. Glaceon leaped off its starting iceberg, and Duraludon slammed into it with a terrifying, rending screech. Whether the sound was a battle cry, a yelp of pain, or simple the sound of steel on ice was impossible to tell.
