"...Is that COD13?"
Forget about Mew. Forget about the miniature Kyogre that accompanies Finnegan Fjord. Hilda had known of COD13's return — it was all everyone at the office would talk about for a few days — but while she had read the announcement and all of that, standing here and seeing it through Domino's is different.
"Such a helpful little bud." How could anyone possibly dislike dear Codie? "What do you say, Blobert, wanna try turning into UNOVR's adorable little helper and fight some Patrat?"
<'Goo?'>
The Ditto that clings to her shoulder clearly has no idea what's going on, but it does as Domino asks all the same. Twisting and turning, extending and bending; molding itself into a regular ol' Porygon's shape... except that with the characteristic absentminded Ditto face. No thoughts, head empty.
"Adorable. Way cuter than Mew. Now... Go get 'em!." Domino grins, throwing the poor attempt at a Porygon down a slide, straight towards a group of Patrat.
<'Gaa!'> Blobert exclaims happily.

Another floor was passed, and another trap was avoided. Lucky, for the life of him, could only bless his very name that he had yet to fall prey to the ridiculous Rube-Goldberg apocalypse that had encompassed the last two floors.
The only persisting constant besides these two facts was that it had been another two floors of the pink cat following him around as if he were the most interesting ever. This was both silly and dangerous-not five floors had passed since the curious and rogue Pokémon had set off a literal chain of landmines during the previous set of ten floors.
Yeah, Lucky had given Mew a scolding for that one. He was surprised that it was still intent on following him around after his foul display of language. And surely he would again, for the rattling and crashing of something falling onto the floor once more signaled disaster brought forth by Mew's paws.
Lucky turned his gaze to the source of the frantic squeaking and crashing. A giant cage trap had been triggered, crashing down onto two unsuspecting victims. For once, Lucky wasn't the target of the misfortune! The edge had landed upon a poor Patrat who was now halfway into becoming a new hole in the floor. It was merely fainted, his UI assured him. The pink cat had merely gotten away with a sore head, as it had apparently crashed onto one of the cage walls.
"HA! Serves you right, little brat! I'll see you later!" Lucky's proclamation was triumphant and punctuated his heel-turn well so that he could walk away.
"Mew?" He would've gone through with it, too, were it not for the sounding call of the little vermin. It was questioning, as if asking him when he was going to come back. The pink cat, apparently, didn't doubt for even a second that he would let her out of the cage It hadn't even assumed that he would leave it be.
How was he supposed to leave it be after that? He released his little unnamed Nidoran out of her ball. She was a lass fresh out of her egg, and Lucky thought this to be a time as good as any to get some attacking practice in for the girl. He even said as much out loud, too, as if this was the only reason he was helping out the pink cat.
It took a few minutes to wrench loose even one bar from the cage, and Lucky had a sneaking suspicion that the inhabitant within it did more to bend the bars than the Nidoran without so much as even lifting a paw. Surely it was capable of something, if C0D13's earlier appearance was any indication. Satisfied with his work, Lucky turned heel to leave again, assured that this pink cat would doubtlessly be levitating behind him as ever.
"Mew?" For the second time today, he stopped to look back. The Pokémon was waiting for him, arms outstretched in silent command. It did not leave the ground.
"No. No way. Go back to flying like you always do, you soggy tart."
"Mew?"
"I'm not picking you up! You can move well on your own. Don't look at me like that! You got into that trap on purpose to begin with!"
"Mew?"
"..."
For the rest of the floor's journey, Lucky Guy was traveling with a stupid pink cat in his arms. It was clearly pleased with this, and made no afforts to stop him. In fact, Lucky miraculously had failed to run into sign nor signal of an impending trap within sight for the rest of this floor. Wasn't that just miraculous?

"...What the hell is a Sinnoh Pokémon?" Tuesday, much alike Finnegan Fjord, isn't particularly versed in every pokémon species out there, much less which ones belong to which generation or region (hell, she doesn't even know what 'Sinnoh' means, honestly). Such being the case, as she steps into Floor 8 and a new notification pops up in the UI, she can do no more than frown slightly while staring at it, crossing her arms. "Pixel."
The Rotom in Meowth disguise always seems to have the answers she needs. When he appears, darting out of the golden pokéball, it's as if he's had the response ready all along:
<'There are two hundred and ten Pokémon in the most expansive version of the Sinnoh Regional Pokédex, with one hundred and seven being endemic to the Sinnoh region itself.'>
"Okay. Cool, cool..." Not really. She doesn't think it's cool at all. In fact, Tuesday couldn't care less for what Pokémon comes from where. All that matters is their typing, their moveset, and of course, their aesthetic. "And are any of those Sinnoh pokémon in my inventory, by any chance?"
<'Number four hundred and thirty one, Glameow. Number four hundred and seventy nine, Rotom.'>
"What? You could've just told me that y–" There's a heavy sigh, for it's at that moment that she notices the approaching Patrat. Hell no. They won't get her again. Not this time. "Ugh, whatever. Just go activate that trap to catch the Patrat. Go, go."
It's an unenthusiastic as can be, yet the Rotom does as it is told, darting through a nearby trap and charging it with electricity. Soon enough, it falls, capturing some of the ugly little belligerent prairie dogs.
Now, where the hell is Mew?

Furrlicity barrels up the stairs riding on the back of his Solrock.
The rock type is perfectly genderless. It also is perfectly capable of beating ass. Zipping by Tuesday, Furrlicity hops off just before the Solrock slams into a wall. It bursts right through to the outside- taking a Patrat that had been hiding inside a bright yellow cage.

Orion isn't sure what's quite going on, something about stomping rats? Now there's a legendary? Either way, he would unleash the mighty wrath of Incineroar, barreling out of his ball with all the might one could expect from a literal big cat hunting down rats? Big rat? Either way, with a grunt and a "Sikko mode" he would smash a rat with great ease, flexing afterwards to his very proud master.
"Good shit Achilles!" "Too easy!"

A Pokemon cuter than Mew, huh? Valentine frowned a little (more of a pout, really) as she considered that prompt and its implications. Valentine was a fan of Mew, really, loved how a little pink puffball like it was one of the strongest and most versatile Pokemon out there, and she did think it was pretty cute on top of all that, too... and that prompt was so subjective! Usually these prompts were a bit more straightforward, either you qualified or you didn't, but how was she supposed to come up with an objective decision here?
Nova was pretty cute, too, but was the Rowlet really cuter than Mew, with those big eyes and pink cat face? Valentine wasn't sure, and the part of her that wanted to say Rowlet was cuter might have just been a combination of self-interest and personal bias towards her starter Pokemon. Puff, Kitkat, Rory, they were all fairly cute Pokemon too, but cuter than Mew? Who was to say? Not Valentine, that was for sure...
Then Valentine thought of the latest addition to her team, a Mystery Gift from the faraway continent of Paldea, and that frown on her face quickly turned into a wicked grin as she loosed her Paldean Wooper from his Poke Ball.
"Doctor Bones! Hit it with everything you've got!"
The Wooper followed through with an energetic Poison Tail, and Valentine's smile broke out into outright giggling at the sight of such a cute Pokemon attacking so fiercely.

Manish had never been so glad to get out a level of the dumb cat tower he was still wandering through. As he and Ryan reached the end of the ‘sand’ and he jumped over to the stairs, he saw the notification of another cat added to his box. Great. He had no idea what he was going to do with all the cats he had collected. The only one he even liked was Cereal, but that’s because he was special. He was pulled from his pouting when he reached the new floor. There were…things everywhere. He wasn’t even sure what he was looking at. Machines? Maybe? Seeing as how Manish was distracted, his two Foongus poked their heads out of his shirt and shot each other a look. This was a veritable playground and they were not about to miss their chance. They jumped out of his shirt and bounced over to the nearest device and started poking at it. With a snap, they were both scooped up in a basket and carried off. The sound pulled Manish back to his ponderings and he let out a horrified gasp at seeing the Foongus being carried away. “Eggs! Wait, come back!” but he could only watch as their basket drifted down a string till it bumped into the edge of a shelf and tilted down, dumping the two into a spoon. The basket, now two Foongus lighter, bounced back up the string, bumping into a marble. The marble then rolled down a railing, bumping into several others and setting off a cascading stream of marbles. Ping, ping, ping, they trickled down and eventually landed in a cup that was balanced on the spoon Egg and Egg 2 were in. With the final marble reaching its destination, it was finally heavy enough to launch the Foongus through the air. Manish finally kicked back into gear and he scrambled off of Ryan’s back and ran over to the Foongus, “I got it, I got you, hang on, oh no. Be careful!” He cried as he lined himself up to catch them. Manish was too distracted trying to predict their trajectory he didn’t pay attention to where he was stepping. <Manish!> Ryan tried to stop him, but Manish was a man on a mission; he had a couple of Foongus to save. Right as he stretched out his arms and snagged both flying Foongus, his foot landed on a pressure plate and he stared back at Ryan with wide eyes. There was a moment of silence before a very large cage dropped from the ceiling and landed over Manish. <Daddy!><Daddy!> Both Foongus cheered in his arms before crawling back in his shirt. Well. At least they were happy. But now to get out of the trap. “Ryan, uh, do you think you could uh, get me out of here?” <Hmm. Probably? What do you have in mind?>Manish pulled gently on one of the bars holding him. It really didn’t feel that strong, and Ryan was looking pretty huge these days. “How about a Vine Whip? A careful one?”<I like your thinking.> Ryan unwound his vines from his large fungal bloom on his back, <You should probably duck.>“Duck?” Manish’s eyes widened at two vines now shooting towards him. “Oh jeez!” he dropped to his knees just in time to barely miss the flailing vines. When the dust settled he looked up from his crouched position and looked around “Any accidental casualties?” Ryan grimaced, he might have hit that Mew, maybe a Watchog or two, he really wasn’t paying attention. <None that we actively care about!> Manish sighed and gave a shrug. That was good enough for him. Tower #89 [Tower]uhsTRiKg1d100 1d100

"When the world needed her most..."
Morgana pulled out a set of keys on a keyring.
"...She vanished."
Morgana did not vanish, but she did unlock the giant plastic cage that had come falling down on top of her when she'd been spinning and laughing in the center of the floor. Admittedly, she'd been a strikingly obvious target. Fortunately, she'd prepared for this exact situation.
"You're here too, Wolverine?" she queried, separating a single Klefki from the ring of keys. "Be a dear and key that Mew's car."
She hiked up her skirts and stepped daintily out of the plastic cage, accidentally crushing a Patrat behind the door as it swung open.

Tower of Cats Floor 9: ROOFTOP The final set of stairs leads straight to the rooftop, an open-air balcony with no ceiling, no walls, and a thousand-foot drop to the gravel courtyard below. Thick, pink bubbles fall from the sky like helium-filled yoga balls, popping as they land and covering the rooftop in sticky bubblegum goop.
Mew floats between the bubbles, hiding behind and inside them, giggling all the while.
The last 10 Patrat are huddled up here as well to make their last stand, armed with all the plastic weaponry, litter box mysteries, and rec room supplies that they could salvage from the previous floors.
You have defeated 90 Patrat and unlocked ALOLAN MEOWTH (C)! The final reward (Espeon) will be unlocked at 100 Patrat.

"Ugh. No, I'm not here for you. Get out of my way." Tuesday tells the Patrat that runs screaming towards her the moment she steps into the 9th floor. She gives the little rodent a kick for good measure, and for the most part, it looks confused.
Its confusion lasts all but five seconds. After those five seconds past, it raises the metallic litter scoop it holds and lets out a mighty mighty warcry. Tuesday rolls her mismatched eyes.
"Pixel." The golden pokéball at her belt begins to glow, and from it darts out her ever-so-helpful Rotom. You’d think the Meowth headband it wears might be for the sake of fitting in with the tower’s feline theme, but in reality it had just been born wearing that simple yet adorable outfit (thank you, Halloween egg hunt).
"Zap this little brat and then go after the pink cat. NOW."
As Tuesday says, her pokémon does, and like if some ancient godly being had decided the Patrat no longer deserved to live, a THUNDER WAVE falls upon it, dealing with it permanently. Then, without a second to waste, the Rotom darts away, pursuing Mew through the air and attempting to give it a shock… literally.

"Sinnoh Pokemon. This prompt was made for you, Emperor."
In spite of Finn's enthusiastic utterance, Emperor the PIPLUP seems no less disgruntled about being called out for such menial grunt work as fending off Patrat. Not even the giggling Mew and its bubblegum antics seem to cheer the sourpuss penguin.
He's bitter about Kyogre being Finn's favourite, of course. He was Finn's starter. He was supposed to be the favourite. Even before the dumb whale came along, it was evident that Finn preferred Monarch. And the reward for this tower of shit?
More cats. More chances to be replaced.
Emperor folds his fins, refusing to participate in any of this nonsense. That would show Finn.
(Except it doesn't. At all.)
"Whatever," the RIVAL shrugs. "Monarch's from Sinnoh, too."
The LUXIO emerges from her pokeball in a flurry of soot-covered leaves, shaking out autumn-dark fur and leveling her briar antlers toward the offending Patrat without a moment's hesitation.
Yet again, Finn's poor Piplup goes ignored.

Sinnoh Pokemon, huh? Good thing Valentine had evolved Grim on a whim (heh, that rhymed!) not long ago...
And hey, he even had a type advantage against Mew! Though that probably didn't make much of a difference, really, especially as Grim would be directly attacking a Patrat and only doing damage to Mew by proxy...
"Grim, use Assurance!"
The actual effect of the move didn't fit that well, but the name sounded right, at least. She liked the sound of being assured to hit here. And Grim looked happy to try out a new move, too, the Weavile smiling broadly... or maybe he was just baring his teeth at his opponent? That would explain why the Patrat looked so scared...

It wasn’t totally ideal to bring a brand new pokemon into a weird tower full of maybe god-like pokemon, rodents, and cats, but Manish was getting desperate. Okay, well, desperate might not be the right term. More like he really didn’t want to risk Ryan putting more holes into a world heritage site and he really really didn’t feel like dealing with Narrator. So options were limited. Which meant busting out someone new. Like, really really new.
With a wave of mushroom sprouting around his feet, Manish threw the ball containing his brand new Bramblin, only very recently named.
“Hey, uh, hi Kassir. Uh, so, uh, quick overview. We’re in a World Heritage Site, maybe? And also we’re fighting what I can only describe as a rodent infestation, oh and there’s a weird pink cat thing around that’s uh, well, maybe a god? I don’t know, it really hasn’t been explained to me. But that’s kinda it. Um. Anyway. Hi."
Kassir took a moment to roll around the floor and take in all that Manish said. <Yeah, aight, sure, I’m down to clown or whatever.>
“That’s uh, that’s cool.” Manish let out a sigh of relief. It was any of his other pokemon there would be a worry of weird probably fake prophecies or serious infrastructure damage. Manish was so glad that he got his haunted tumbleweed, even if he really did have a lot of issues with the design of a haunted tumbleweed.
“Right, yeah, okay, so uh, let’s uh, let’s do um. Infestation? Oh jeez, this is going to be one of those that makes me really uncomfortable, isn’t it?”
Kassir rolled around. <Don’t know you well enough to say one way or the other. But also don’t care.> Kassir rolled closer to the last holdouts of the Watchog army and where Mew was floating around. <There is no escape> He said in a way that made Manish’s skin crawl. A swarm of smaller bugs erupted from his brambles and went for the targets to do a little damage, but mainly hold them in place for future attacks.

Genesis... had been avoiding the Tower, for some reason. Silly in hindsight, given that it was one of the easier-seeming ways of getting one step closer to their first Trainer star, but something about it always struck them as intimidating, offputting even.
But this prompt was enough to get them to overcome that initial hesitation and plunge right in, because they had a Kanto Pokemon and they weren't afraid to use it.
"Potoooooooo!"
The Ponyta tilted his head as he looked back at his Trainer.
"This one's all you. Give 'em a taste of your Flame Charge!"
The Ponyta nodded and started charging at the nearest Patrat, which looked downright petrified. Genesis grinned. They weren't the one feeling intimidated now...

One last stand for these rats? Oh, they were getting their asses kicked. Furrlicity tosses out his Skitty, a previous companion unlocked from this very tower, and he stares down one of the Watchog who cowers as it stares up at him. A litter box mystery is held up between them; not that it will matter. The whole scene is very epic and also scary. Like a horror manga. Yeah, imagine that type of cool and intense lighting happening.
Then a giant bubble suddenly drops down, popping all over Furrlicity. It covers him in sticky pink goop.
"Oh, ew! What the fuck?!"
He tries to wiggle away but is stuck tight to the floor. It's stringy and sticky like chewed bubble gum, which makes him make a face as he tries to pull his fingers apart.
"Ugh... just... just kill it, okay?"
The Skitty gives a little meow before lunging forward. The Watchog raises it's weapon, but the Skitty darts to the side, Faking Out the other pokemon to strike!
