"Right, let's go-!" The hybrid would begin before pausing as Josh seemed to sigh.
Oh - right... a Doubles match. She actually almost forgot as well, in the excitement of 'first actual battle with someone.' ."It's fine!" She'd exclaim, looking up at the shedding Tiny Bird flapping over her head. "Cool nickname though - good to meet you, Pazuzu!" She'd greet the bird while spinning ideas around in her head.
So long as Pazuzu was on the field, Spearmint would be a risk to send out - for now. Battles in the game were strategy based, so she could react on the fly...it's been a while since she felt like this, excitement racing through her veins.
However, the question still remained...who would be good to use for a starting duo?
Cypress's eyes lit up in a idea, taking out a Pokeball and also lobbing it into the air, sending out a Houndour who would stretch before taking his place beside the Mudkip, eyes moving to the bird flying above.
"And this here's Paprika." She'd introduce the canine, who would give a curt, polite nod in greeting and acknowledgement.

The sudden lack of natural light didn't appear to help matters, as Cypress began to move her way through the foyer into another room almost blindly - staying quiet all the while - until, she spotted something. A lone candle, flickering faint orange hues in the depths of the darkness, which seemed to brighten when Cypress grabbed a hold of the brass candleholder, moving it closer so she could move.
Now that she finally had a source of light, it was a bit easier to move around - the room she ended up in, a almost fanciful library - abandoned though it may be, it would have been a peaceful place to curl up with a book in better days Though the eyes didn't help with the gentle ambiance and the flickering orange light.
Some appeared carefully drawn, elegant lines and dots. Others, like the frantic scribblings of a madman. But all the same, everywhere the hybrid looked, there were eyes, seemingly following her every move. Another note was resting upon a coffee table, written almost frantically upon a piece of sheet music. ...she recognized this song. Westminster Quarters, or a familiar clock chime, scribed for playing on piano. A song she remembered playing with a old friend, laughing as they messed up simple notes and (ignore it, ignore it) - her eyes moved to the note, almost unreadable, though Cypress could pick out a few words.
{note 3: unknown.}
For a moment, Cypress remained quiet, staring at the note even as the everdutiful ui counter ticked up:

Rain leaps down to the ground as fog slithers into the area, and Cypress lets out a small yelp as a drop of rain hits her back - its cold, too cold, cold like freezerburn must feel like in the frozen aisle, and it takes all that she has to not abandon all hope and leave - she needs to know the truth. Right?
A crack of thunder, loud like a whip, snaps the hybrid out of her reverie, and she runs into the first place she sees (if any more rain falls on her, she may freeze herself - for this rain feels oh, so, unnatural) and Cypress can't help but wave frantically to the first player she sees - someone named Mimiqueue - holding the door open for them to rush into if desired. Afterwards, the wolf runs into the foyer - a home that still held a roof over its head, its entranceway cluttered with old pages of novels and books, and Cypress can't help but notice the seaweed. Curling upon some of the books themselves, some lodged in-between pages like makeshift bookmarks, staining some of the pages with deep, deep green.
A scrap of paper though, catches her attention - laid away from the rest with almost a sense of care, it appears torn from a journal as well, like the previous. The scrawl is a bit more messy, mistakes being made more frequently, as if one's hands had frozen to the pen, writing in the best scrawl they could manage.
{note 2: or, the rain, eyes, the first heirloom.}
For a moment, Cypress stared at the new page, only glancing up to the almost dutiful tracker (2/4 notes collected), mind rolling around with worry and terror and pity.
...Poor Philo. First leaving his home for his grandfather's home, and now headaches and...the weather? And then there's that note...being watched...eyes...needing to stay quiet... A crack of thunder seemed to knock something down unseen, and the woman bristles, suppressing the urge to yelp in fright.

Hey, no problem! Thanks for letting me participate! And a theme park? Sounds interesting, I'll be there in a bit.
Sand. It's rough, coarse, and while it didn't get everywhere, it sure was annoying to walk through - but she supposed it would all be worth it - for one thing. Looking through an abandoned amusement park. And while she was quite wary around going near anything relating to Corruption, Josh had asked her for help. It was the nice thing to do, despite her concerns.
Thus, she was making this trek, her trusty Houndour right beside her, looking around and padding through the sand, tail lashing back and forth. "Madame, how much longer is this going to be? The sand does not feel...right." "Patience, Paprika - I think we're almost...aha!"
As she got closer to the theme park, the hybrid would wave to Josh as she approached, the canine beside her carefully approaching before nodding his own greeting.

Here she was, staring up, up, up at the diamond shaped pillar, the hybrid would stare at it, watching as blue veins crawled across the metal and the sweet smell of ozone filled her nose. The destruction around her, the abandoned cityscape may be intense, but this...this was like nothing she'd ever felt before.
The pressure resting beneath her skin, the buzz of rain deep within her bones - it was pressure, as she rested her palm against the metal. And yet, as soon as it began, it was over - the stress in her stomach was gone like the fleeing of a storm, and all that was left was a tingling sensation in her hand from when she removed it from the steel. Cypress let out a breath she didn't know she was holding onto, whispered a soft "Thanks,", and began her trek.
Now, what direction are the dunes in again...?

The hybrid noticed the electric zebra before noticing the rider atop it, giving both man and Pokemon a wave and a grin. "Hey, Josh! Nothing much, I've just been waiting around to do the package tutorial-" A notification update caught her eye.
TUTORIAL 2 -- DELIVERY, SIGN HERE! 2/2 All players found! "quest." Huh, convenient!
The objective for the quest then updates with a cheerful chirp.
Objective: Deliver mysterious package to the Briarbane Saloon. The location has been marked on your minimap!
Cypress would squint up at the mini-map, taking note of its location in town, before looking over to the road, then back to the rider. "It looks like the direction to go is, uh...that-a-way." She'd point in around the general direction - it was the polite thing to do, afterall - before grabbing hold of the package in her hands, preparing to walk her way there.
I was debating on the problems being relating to things in town? Like a runaway barrel one may need to jump over or something? Any potential suggestions?

It started out as a normal day.
Cypress had just obtained one of the more familiar tools in a Pokemon game - a Fishing Rod, and was asking around Briarbane if there were any good fishing spots nearby. Some spoke about some lakes near town, others about rivers in the Birchwood, or even small lakes unmagnetized in the Steppes.
Though one place that always seemed to be met with whispers was the Timberwood. Always met with a concerned look and a quick change of subject, it was when the hybrid opted to talk with a man, hair peppered with gray streaks and his eyes seeming far older than how he sounded, that she got answers.
"Aye, the Misty Timberlands...there's one place you could go to fish - has all the gear for it too, if yer looking to make a living, but...I wouldn't." Curiosity reared its cat-like head. "Where?" "...the Abandoned Village." And so, the wolf heard the tale of a small town, somewhere in the Misty Timberlands, who's residents just suddenly became Magikarp. A town, once full of life, suddenly became a shell of itself - pots on a stove, food left to spoil, belongings scattered about, rainwater left to stagnate...it was a mystery as much as any. So, when Cypress asked why, he shrugged. "Who knows. All I know is that the town must have been abandoned for a reason."
And so, here she is now, approaching with care and caution - a cloudy summer night made even more mysterious by her intended destination, no Pokemon following behind her like usual. 'A lone wolf by any other name,' her mind sighed, before she scrunched up her nose. Salt and seafood smells - a familiar feeling for one living in a coastal state - combined with the visuals, and the seemingly pungent smell of rotting wood, a question lingered within.
She had to figure out what happened. If not to put a rumor to rest...then to at least understand, to figure out the truth.
...?
A small note laid by her foot, almost stepped on - torn at the edges, it seemed to be from some sort of...book. Carefully, she picked it up, and began to read.
{Note 1; or, a aspirant, a librarian.} xxx xxx, xxx. Dear Journal, It's quite strange to be writing in you, after all this time, but I dare say I may need your company more than ever.
After my grandfather's untimely passing, may he rest with the Legends, I not only inherited his house, but also his fishing gear - so long as I move into his home, as the will decreed. The rest of the family refused to go with me despite his last wishes, so I decided to leave on my own, despite their firm requests to ignore the inheritance and stay. I do hope they can forgive me for leaving so suddenly, especially with no warning.
But I cannot stay home, not when my grandfather's last written words rings in my ears. For it is my right as a Sinclair to do the best I can for those I love...even if they're gone.
But, regardless of the...ascertaining circumstances, I have prepared to settle in my grandfather's home, carriage ride and all. With me, I have taken my collection of novels and books, as well as my family heirlooms - though, I suppose I'll get back to the latter when the time is right.
And thus, I write to you, as we make our way to the village of [the words appear waterlogged, worn by time and seasalt - impossible to read.]. - fishing industry.
I dare say that my journey is almost at an end - I smell the familiar scent of salted water, and the cool breeze of ocean air. I will write to you anon, when I have become settled in.
Sincerely, Philo Sinclair XIV
Reading through the entry, Cypress's ears pricked up at the sudden creaking of planks and wood. Despite everything, the note seemed...normal. A man, a librarian, moving into his grandfather's home here. Was that all there was...or was there something else? Looking up from the note, her eyes seemed to widen.
? ? ?. NOTES FOUND: 1/4
That...wasn't there before. Did it appear when she was reading, or when she had approached?
Either way, there must be more notes inside the town proper. So, with a inhale and exhale, Cypress entered the town - wooden planks creating familiar creaking sounds underfoot.

Watching as some players spawned in to revive fossils and others spawned in to check their loot, Cypress would slowly approach the machine, both fossils in hand.
It was honestly a scary moment when the noises grew louder and louder in Mistra, the sudden ringing in her ears as suddenly, everything seemed to cut out with a error and connection lost pop-up. But then, just as things seemed to go still, there was a sudden rush of colour - she had appeared in Briarbane, small cuts quickly healing all over her person (so much like the small cuts she'd get on her hands when she was picking up pine branches during the gentle heat of summer, laughing with-) and cold snow atop her head and shoulders to snap her out of a fleeting memory. It was at this moment she remembered to take a breath, shaky as it may be, and send out Spearmint. Just to check if something had happened (she didn't want anything to have happened, please no, please don't let her be-)
The good news out of all of this was that the Fomantis was not only with her, but also was none the worse for wear - just shaken up a bit (and really, the wolf hybrid couldn't blame her - in an environment like that, and dealing with the slow encroachment of Corruption, anyone would have been shaken up.) But still, the chance that something could have happened, that Spearmint or her could have been hurt by whatever the Corruption was or worse...it frightened her. Deeply. In a way she had felt only once before-
...No. No.
Somehow, someway, Cypress wanted to protect those close to her. There could be - no, there had to be a way for her to protect those she held dear; both her team, and her potential allies. But how? For now, the answer would lay a mystery.
A mystery even more so than Professor Bunya's appearance now - having shed her 'corpornyal form', she still seemed the same, cheerful and willing to do science. But still, the creation of that lawnmower-based fossil machine, the lights darkening for only a moment, the screaming of a scared man as he ran for the hills - this didn't feel safe.
But if this is the only way to revive the fossils, what does she have to lose?
So, with a shaky heart, and shaking hands, Cypress would move the fossils to be carefully held in an arm, open the lid, and with a shaky inhale and exhale, place the Claw Fossil first,
Lights darkened, lightning flashed, and with a 'ding', it was done, the lid opening almost in perfect sync. REVIVAL SUCCESS!
And from it, stepped out a pokemon. Or, more specifically, scuttled out. A strange looking crab (for that was the only way to really describe it) with white and red feathers on its sides, looked around the lab for a moment, as if it wasn't believing it was real, before their eyes focused on her. For a moment, neither being said anything. Until finally, the Old Shrimp spoke. "Who are ya, lass?"
"Ah - um," Cypress began, ears unknowingly flattening to the sides of her head - she wasn't expecting a sudden barrage of questions. "Well - currently, we're in the Professor's lab...and my name's Cypress." "Cypress..." The Anorith began, seemingly turning the word around in their mind. "Cypress. A strong name. Wonderful - a pleasure to meet ya'." "Likewise." Seeing the success of the Claw Fossil, the Anorith opting to skitter about around the hybrid, Cypress's eyes moved to the other fossil in her hand - a simple little sail, encased in blue. With a inhale and exhale, it too was placed into the machine, and with a ding, another Pokemon stepped out. A small cyan dinosaur with rounded sapphire eyes, sails glowing a curious yellow as it too, glanced around the area almost timidly, before hiding behind the Anorith, who blinked in surprise. "W-Where am I?" "Yer in a...Professor Lab, from what I've learned," The shrimp began, motioning with a pincer. "That strong lady over there's named Cypress, she's the one who helped you out."
The Amaura peeks from around the Old Shrimp, looking up into odd eyes with a cheerful green-yellow glow to the sails ("Nice to meet you, um...miss Cypress!") before returning to their hiding place.
Silence encroaches once again, and this time it is broken ever so quickly, the two fossil 'mon approaching seemingly as one (the anorith first and the amaura following behind them, the moon reflecting the sun, so much like how you were on your first day, nervously shadowing the other new hire-) "Where 'ya going after this?" A blink and a seemingly automatic response. "Anywhere." "Anywhere?" A realization, and yet despite it, a little smile. "Yeah! There's so much outside the lab to see and do! Would you...do you want to come with me?"
The Anorith appeared to think about it for a few moments, before nodding. "Anythin' beats laying in a ocean forever. What about you?" They turned to the Amaura. "What are you gonna do now?" "I...I'm not sure. The Tundra Pokemon began, looking down to the floor as their sails turned blue. "I don't know. I'm not even sure what I'm going to do, and..."
Cypress crouched down to the dino's level, a idea on what to say lighting up within her. "Well, why don't you come with me and Anorith here? There's lots to see and do on the open road, maybe we'll find what you want to do there!"
The fossil pokemon seemed to ponder it, before coming out from behind the Anorith completely. "Y-Yeah!" The dinosaur chirped, sails returning to a cream and pink hue, before turning emerald green. in happiness "Let's go on the open road together!"
The bug type chuckled at seeing their new allies socialize together. "Couldn't have said it any better myself. 'Right then, let's walk this road."
And with that, two Pokemon were caught.
Amaura and Anorith have been revived!

Cypress was never really a fan of sci-fi games. Even after life and constant recommendations by her fellow workers, she never really could get into the games like Stellaris, or Milky Way Effect.
But that never really stopped her from finding an interest in glowing objects and fancy spaceships - the blue acid dripping down from the batteries giving her a sense of...well, uneasiness. So, when Josh said he didn't pick the battle arena, the hybrid wasn't going to judge him - instead, she'd smile and say "That's all right - and woah, a Mudsdale! Been a while since I've seen one of those!" Her eyes almost lighting up as the translucent glass didn't even break underneath the mighty weight of the draft horse. And the hiss of something on the roof didn't feel...well, trustworthy. But still. Sci-Fi. Gotta love it...kinda. At the start of the fight, Cypress would crack her knuckles, taking out a Pokeball and throwing it underhand. "Huck, you're on shift!" The Mudkip would leap out and land almost squarely as he could, making sure to land on the glass as he glanced around the environment, before focusing on the Mudsdale with a deep breath.

When Cypress saw that one of the tutorials that she hadn't completed yet was a delivery of some sort, of course she jumped at the chance to take it. Helping is its own reward after all, and even if it was a tutorial that needed to be completed still, it was nice to be appreciated.
Though, needless to say, Dr. Bunya's dialogue was hard to understand - so many cat puns - and the package was a bit too simple - a brown package tied together with twine with a few odd stains on its corners.
But the starting town was the starting town - especially in a tutorial zone. So, as the hybrid adjusted her grip on her new cargo, surely this would be-
A sudden popup in front of her face stopped her in her thoughts.

The prompt chimed with 'Use a Grass Type Move', and Cypress was all the happy to provide it - the scattering Patrat being chased by a Fomantis with a expression of determination. "Nice to meet you both - I'm Cypress," the wolf woman introduced herself as Spearmint continued to chase around the mice pokemon. "And Pokemon racing sounds interesting! Same with collecting grass and bug types!" She sheepishly moved a hand behind her neck. "I'm not too sure about a goal either...but I think it'll come to me when it happens."
Fomantis used Razor Leaf!
One of the Patrat were knocked down to the ground by minty green leaves, prompting a chime of <"Got you!"> from Spearmint, and a chuckle from Cypress at her Pokemon's antics.

As the present was gifted away, and the pop-up finally appeared to disappear from Cypress's vision, she would exhale in what seemed like relief before giving a nod of thanks, adjusting the pickaxe in her hand as she glanced down at it.
She should...probably get back to mining, shouldn't she? Best not to shirk work!
Glancing over to where her Fomantis was digging, she would motion for the grass type to bound over - which she did...albeit a bit slower, little sickles covered in loamy dirt as she raised them to Cypress in cheer.
Cypress would lightly pat the little mantis on the head.
"Thanks so much for digging, Mint, I'm really grateful! How about you take a break? I can do some digging for the both of us."
The Fomantis would give an excited nod, though not saying anything as the wolf woman began to swing her pickaxe to the beat, the rhythm, the (still a bit nerve-wracking) bells - all while the Fomantis opted to watch in awe, slightly bouncing with each swing and each hit - getting herself back into the (literal) swing of of the beat and rhythm.

sounds cool, omw! just lemme figure out how to get to the harbor first! It was a quiet day in Felicity's apartment - a lack of shifts (most likely to train any new hires) left her entire week free to do whatever she wished. She could go on a walk, she could go to one of the cafes - she could do anything she wanted.
And yet, here she was, staring at the beige ceiling, feeling almost bored. She could do so many things, and yet all she wanted to do was get back to work.
But then, a message arrived - prompting a tilt of the head. Big Bee...? Oh! Big Bee! From that event! She read it over.
A boat race...? At a...Drowned Harbour? Now that sounded cool!
Typing up a response, Felicity would smile to herself, before exhaling. Now how to get to this...Drowned Harbour?
An hour later, Cypress would be walking over to the pier, taking note of the once proud vessels now shells of their former glory. If she spotted Big Bee, she would give a cheerful wave, smiling. "Sorry for the wait! Had to figure out where I was going..."
Would she most likely need to figure out a means of transportation? Probably. But right now, it's Boat Time.
Preparing to clamber into one of the many Pokemon-themed boats, a pop-up would catch her attention.
Please select Three (3) Pokemon, or yourself, to participate in this event!
Three Pokemon hmm...? Well, luckily for this event!
Soon, after the Pokemon were sent out (and explanations were had), Cypress had selected her roster - with input, of course.
Huck requested that he be on the Rower position and Spearmint all but cheered when the Figurehead position was mentioned. Paprika, on the other hand...
Paprika was staring into the ocean, before shuddering slightly. A beat passed before the reason hit her as to the reaction.
Houndour is part Fire-type. Fire and something like a boat race over an ocean...That wouldn't mix well.
So, with a sigh, Cypress would approach the Dark Pokemon, before lightly patting him on the head. Silence passed.
<"Madame, are you sure this race is...safe?"> "I'm sure it will be fine...but you don't have to participate if you don't want to - I can take the final position, if you need." A moment of silence before a nod from the canine,. <"...if you could do so? I give my thanks.">, he would bark, as Cypress returned him to the Pokeball, before clambering into the boat with the rest of the team.
Spearmint would Ingrain herself to keep herself steady in the slightly damp seat, while Huck would appear quite comfortable in the rowers section, front paws around the rowers and preparing to push with all he had.
Cypress meanwhile, had positioned herself at the helm, testing the rudder and taking in the salty sea air.

<"There are many Patrats, madame.">
The Houndour would chime, as Cypress tried to step around the scattering and quickly moving rat-like Pokemon. "I-I see that, Paprika," She'd begin, trying to keep an eye on the cats, rats, and her partner.
After pleasantry's were exchanged and the tower was entered, here she was, carefully tip-toeing around the third floor and trying to remember what move could cause flinching.
A Patrat stepped on Paprika's paw, prompting a yelp and a angry snap of jaws, dark energy surrounding them.
Houndour used Bite!
The Patrat quickly scurried away, as the objective chimed in completion, prompting Cypress to look over to Paprika with a smile.
The Houndour, despite the slight ache in his paw, smiled back - or at least tried to, in the way a dog can.

Slightly thumbing over the fire-hearted stone and feeling the smooth texture, Cypress has no time to get her bearings when the world crumbles underneath her feet. She lets out a unceremonious yelp of surprise as she falls to the next layer, hugging Spearmint for dear life with both hands.
With a 'oof', the wolf-woman would pick herself up from the ground, glancing to the paler mantis in her arms, slightly squirming.
"Oh - sorry, Mint! Are you OK?" <"Mmhmm! Just peachy!"> A part of her doubted that - when she set her down, she was slightly shaking like a leaf. "Are you sure...? Because we could take a break for a moment-" <"No, it's OK! I can keep digging all day!"> "...If you're sure-"
Cypress would begin tentatively, the sudden pop-up appearing in front of her face cutting off whatever she had to say, prompting a noise of confusion at the sudden present in her arms.
...well, she really didn't want to be on Santa's Naughty List. Naughty children get coal and (blood and ink on silver) ...she really didn't want to get coal.
"Mint?" The Fomantis looked up at her, expression curious. "I'm going to go give this to someone, do you think you can do some digging? As much as you can handle, though."
With a cheerful <"Okay!">, Mint would go and start digging in a separate area, using their sickles to dig into the loamy soil, while Cypress walked away, glancing back to Mint first, but then glancing around to see if anyone would like a gift.
Hmm. Hmm...she's just going to go up to the first person she sees and offer the present. Or at least the first pair of shoes she sees. Darn pop-up...
Eventually, with some careful manuvering, the wolf woman would stop infron of orioncayge , hold out the present as politely as she could, and say "Merry Christmas!"
