OUT OF THE GAME Micheal Elouan Tengrove has always known exactly who he is. The eldest son of the Tengrove house, to take rank and title once his Father cedes. That is who he is- all he has ever been allowed to be. In school, in sport, during the hours other children would get for free time- he had to carry himself a noble, and work to learn all that entailed. And it all had to be done under constant scrutiny, under watch and surveillance and under the noses of those who wanted nothing more than for him to fail. Micheal always had to be the best- not his best, but the best. It was too much pressure to put on a child. This perfection became all he was- all he could be. So when he was given a modicum of responsibility- attending an official dinner, with other members of nobility. He was given a question- one he answered, managing to keep his compuse through. And then he was leveled all of the questions. And when the other nobles saw a flicker of weakness, they swarmed like hornets, lashing out with all their strength. Question after question, snide comments and strawmen, and all the while his parents... sat. And watched. And waited. His chest grew tight, heart fluttering against his ribs. He asked to be dismissed, and was ignored. Finally, in a fit of desperation, he stood- A fainting disorder. High stress and blood pressure and anxiety. That was what the doctors told Micheal when he woke, in hospital. Treatments, but no cure. A death sentence, in his eyes. He was quickly folded away from public view. Given medications that, he was told, would start working any day now. The doctors said to keep away from exercise, and stressors. Like his entire life wasn't a stressor. Micheal was then confined to the house, or the doctor's. Not the grounds, not where someone could see him and ask questions. Online, but only where attendants and parents could be sure he revealed nothing of himself. When it became truly clear any attention he'd gotten earlier was due to what he could do for his parents, Micheal lashed out- he had outfits and plushes commissioned, the clothing lush and fantastical, the animals somthing merely to hold, and be held by. And it was an ad, that came up, on a forum he often glanced at but never was brave enough to join. A person, a VR device, and someone new. Who can you become? He demanded one be picked up, almost feverishly. If he wasn't heir apparant- if he wasn't Micheal- Who was he?

Mimikyu, the pokemon who, frightened and lonesome, tries desperately to masquerade as something well known and beloved. Trying to ride the coattails of that love, so that they, too, can be loved. Queue, an ordered group of data, kept in a precise set. Mimiqueue, data arranged to make the shape of someone, perhaps, more lovable. Mimiqueue- or Mimi, perhaps- is a doll. Fine hair, smooth skin, articulated joints. It's a little off putting, a little too strange, a little too perfect- She still tries, as she does in real life, to be perfect, presentable, what others around her would like. But... even this avatar, even Mimiqueue, is a defiance. Perhaps, over time, Mimiqueue can loosen up, can realize there are no expectations leveled upon her here.
