SHOW ME THE DOORTEAM PLASMA: STORY QUEST The disgraced Professor meets you just outside the speakeasy. If not for the layer of cat hair on her normally-immaculate lab coat, you might think she looked just like she did the first time you saw her. Keen. Focused. Ready for business. "Thank you for coming," she says, then pauses. "I trust you have a plan." At least one of you does - you would not be so foolish as to forget the other side of the Doortals is at the bottom of the Ostellia harbor, hundreds of feet below the surface. It may be no problem for a Swimmer, but Professor Ash, an NPC, will surely drown. And of course, you'll need to decide how best to get to the Junkyard undetected.
{SELECT ALL CHOICES NOW} CYCLE 1: What will you disguise Professor Ash as? A) A Pokemon (specify) B) A different Major NPC C) A specific player (tag them)
CYCLE 2: What route will you take to the Junkyard? A) Via the Mime Circus B) Via the Fungal Fields C) Via the Round 2 Base
CYCLE 3: What has been prepared to help Ash reach the surface? A) Scuba Gear B) One of your Pokemon (Specify) C) Ancient Submarine

"Well, as the resident member of the Bay watch, I would say I think I have a rough idea of what to do."
Orion had arrived first, one could say his zeal for this sort of thing was a little fanatical, that he'd perhaps drank a bit too much of the digital cool aid that had been passed around. The young man would disagree, this game had aced the fucking Turing Test with flying colors, so as far as he was aware this game was realer than real, and its people deserved to have their agency protected, mon and man alike. Any heroics in game were just as heroic out of the game, and for him any injuries sustained carried the very real threat of chasing him back into the real world.
All the more likely to treat this all seriously, and plan all the more accordingly.
He'd clothed himself in his standard apparel, black shirt and jeans with a bright yellow bandanna. In his lap Gilgamesh was chowing down on a small pack of Moreos fetched from a local vending machine. On the table two crumpled bags of Doritos and Fritos were sitting, previous victims of the brave bugs mid afternoon cravings. One foot sat crossed over his knee as he lounged in the booth, professor sitting across from in in desperate need of a lint brush and some personal space from all of these god damn cats.
"The Doortal from the junkyard leads right into the bottom of the Bay, and personally speaking I feel like this." He would plop down a bag filled with scuba gear, "Is our best bet getting you to the surface with minimal issue. I found a submersible down there, but it looks fucking SKETCHY and mad old, last thing I want us to do is pack you in there and have that thing suddenly and rather explosively decompress throwing you out into the deep with no protection and no air." A frown smeared itself across his face as he imagined the scene, his brow furrowing so deeply it obscured his eyes.
"While the suit leaves you out in the water with us as we swim, it also means we're right there with you and can play protect the president. The three of us and some water mon will make the perfect mobile caravan upwards, allowing us the ability to get real jazzy with our movement if we find ourselves being attacked, but also allowing us easy access to grab you and make a mad dash if we gotta. It seems like the best of both worlds really."
That was exfiltration sorted, but how to get her to the door? And what route where they taking? Well, luckily he had two very good partners in crime to answer that.

Verai listened as the other two spoke, eyes closed in thought. Kitten was half in his lap, forepaws up on the counter of the table, watching orioncayge and Laguna and System Admin:professorash brightly. She didn't really understand what they were saying, but it sounded like an adventure- and she was all for it!
Orion had explained thoroughly how they would make it to the Doortal itself- but the needed to reach the Junkyard to get there. "The easiest way to the Junkyard is going to be through the Fungal Fields," Verai said, petting Kitten's fur as he spoke. "While there are other means of getting there- The ziplines in the Round 2 base are out of the question." Far too many eyes. "And the only other nearby passageway is.. whatever the 'Mime Circus' is." His tone suggested that Verai... had absolutely no desire to figure out what, exactly, a Mime Circus was.
He looked towards Ash, expression serious, but not quite grim. "While we're all trying to figure out the best way to get you out of here... I fear that there is no truly 'safe' option. There are going to be risks, and it's incredibly likely you're going to get hurt. But know that we're all going to do everything we can to protect you."
<Yeah!!! We're gonna keep you safe, no matter what!!> Kitten yowled, now getting entirely on the table.
"... Kitten is going to help you, as well." Verai translated, gently pulling the litten back into his lap.

This was the real deal. There was no going back from this. If they failed, Ash would get hurt. She highly doubted they'd just go and sit in the Jail, and wait to be rescued. With what happened to Bunya... there was no telling what could happen at any moment.
Steeling her resolve, Laguna would carefully listen to everyone else's plans and ideas. Upon hearing orioncayge mention they'd be going through with Ash with scuba gear, Laguna instinctively summoned Marina the Brionne, her starter Pokémon. The seal swam around in the air, ready to act just in case. "Gonna need you later darling. Be ready to blow bubbles for the Professor, just in case."
"Can do!" A few bubbles already began to float around them as the giggled with excited nerves.
When Verai had finished speaking, discussing the Fungal Fields, she finally stepped forwards and swung a backpack around in front. "Not gonna lie Professor, this is probably gonna be awkward for a bit. But as long as we keep our heads down, move quickly, we'll get out of here just fine."
She'd carefully hand over the backpack, intending to give Professor Ash the courtesy of going back inside to change clothes. Inside, she'd find a fairly long blue and white dress, with a few frills at the top, paired with a back-length brown wig and a blue ribbon already tied into the hair. As well as a set of gloves, boots, and other minor accessories.
It was absolutely a costume of Bergamot Gristleborg .
"It's a disguise of... a friend, I think. Point is, I've seen her sneak around a bit, and also disguise up as people. Me included. So if anyone recognizes who the outfit is, they hopefully won't think twice on it either. Besides, most people who live in town don't seem to mind when Trainers act a bit weird."
"And, if they do?" She gives the professor a soft smile, a few snowflakes forming in her hand. "We can make a solid distraction, with hopefully as little violence as possible. Just, prepare yourself. You're probably going to see us do a dozen theoretically impossible things before the night is done. You have our support."

{RESULTS} CYCLE 1: What will you disguise Professor Ash as? A) A Pokemon (Specify) B) A different Major NPC C) A specific player (tag them)
CYCLE 2: What route will you take to the Junkyard? A) Via the Mime Circus B) Via the Fungal Fields C) Via the Round 2 Base The plan is made, step by step, choice by choice, and Professor Ash returns in her new splendor. While not the most convincing Bergamot Gristleborg up close, she bears a passable resemblance to the self-proclaimed villainess.
Ash shoulders the bag of scuba gear, looking serious and pensive in her gaudy disguise. "All right, everyone. It's time. If we should get separated, let's plan to meet back at the Junkyard, at the location orioncayge marked as the Ostellia portal."
Her words are meant for you, her trusted trainers, but they also reach someone else.
A spiral of sweet-smelling smoke rises from a nearby alley, and the watcher slips away.
The Fungal Fields are just outside the Briarbane City Limits, acres of carefully-cultivated farmland specializing in mushrooms. Stacks of felled cedars sprout button-shaped shiitake. Fields of sawdust blocks hold fruiting bouquets of puffballs. The forest from the nearby Birchwild Grove has long since been cleared, and from the top of the valley, one has a clear view of the path ahead.
A very, very clear view.
There is nothing that passes for cover in this place—no buildings to shirk behind, no canopy to duck below. You are as open as mice on the arctic tundra, and you are almost immediately hailed and approached by a sweaty man in a threadbare jacket, who jogs up with an expression of deepest dismay as you linger on the outskirts of his farm.
"It's you!" he pants—not to Orion, Laguna, or Verai, but strangely, to the apparent Bergamot Gristleborg. "Please, please don't turn our crops to stone again! The fields around Portobello Pond still haven't recovered. I'm begging you, I have a livelihood to protect."
"I… won't," Ash says guardedly. "I'll try to be more careful next time."
The farmer seems taken aback. "A-are you serious? Thank you!" He rummages in his rucksack. "Here, take this. It's from our recent harvest." The farmer leaves and you continue down the path. You feel wildly exposed to any watching eyes, but there is no reason anyone should suspect you. No reason they might expect you. Why today? Why here?
Thwump-thwump-thwump-thwump.
The sound of giant wings thrums through the air like helicopter blades.
"orioncayge. Verai. Laguna. You are known associates of a wanted person of interest," blares a voice—not through a megaphone, but in your minds, delivered via psychic Pokemon. "We have received an anonymous tip you would be traveling through this area, and you will be detained for questioning immediately. And Bergamot Gristleborg…"
"…no known association. You are free to go."
The moment the beam of the searchlight pins you, the world darkens. You see only a flash of a shocked Professor Ash, still clad in her bright blue dress, before you are lifted off your feet like a cow caught by a UFO.
"Stay calm!" the Professor shouts as whipping winds threaten to blow her brown wig off her head. She clutches it to her scalp, battling to be heard over the drone of psychic Pokemon. "Escape if you can! I'll meet you at the—"
LOADING: CYCLE 2SHOW ME THE DOORYour vision clears. You find yourself, and your two companions, seated at an interrogation table beneath the harsh glare of fluorescent lights. Your hands are cuffed behind you, secured behind the back of the metal chairs.
The detective in charge of asking questions is on the phone, pacing back and forth near the far end of the room. "They're not talking, Chief," he's saying, shooting you a frustrated glance. "This may be another dead end. I say we hold them for another 12 hours, wait for our Psychic Pokemon's power to—"
The door behind him slams open. The crack of a whip sizzles through the air and he falls with a strangled sound, crumpling to the cement floor.
A languid, liquid voice reaches you, slow and sweet and dark as molasses.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. I always get bored of this good cop, bad cop drivel," says System Admin:Claw, stepping over the body. Her stiletto heel crunches in the phone screen, crushing it like a can. "Pokemon. Power. In the end, it's all about information. Why, those with true power understand that."
The Creed floods in, leather-clad and edgy. Held in their hands are Pokemon capsules— defaced ones, their seals crudely scratched through. Plasma Pokeballs. Your Pokeballs, you realize, which must have been taken away when you were detained for questioning.
"Guess these are yours," says one goon nervously, placing them on the table in front of you. The others follow suit, setting them down gingerly. "Hey, be careful with these things, they're pretty busted. The Pokemon could come out at any second."
"Oh sugar, I don't think that's any accident," CLAW says smoothly. "…Isn't that right? Don't that sound pretty as a picture? Just imagine: a world where Pokemon are free."
"But it'd be chaos, mistress," the crony says uncertainly. CLAW tilts her head to one side.
Fox-colored eyes linger.
"Leave us."
Her honeyed voice turns whip-thin and the goons turn and file hurriedly out of the room.
"Sure would be, wouldn't it?" she says softly, once they're gone. "People, defenseless. Desperate. And of course, Pokemon tradin' wouldn't go away— it'd just go deeper. The black market would soar. And me? Why, I don't need Pokemon to do what I do best."
She circles behind you.
"I don't know what y'all are plannin', Duke Cayge," the widow queen whispers to orioncayge, breath close enough to tickle the back of his neck. There is a click as his handcuffs fall away, and she moves on to the next person. "But The Creed wants in. Think of how we could help each other." Click. Laguna's cuffs are free, and she continues, finally, to Verai. "Cygnus and Chadwick play their games, but I run this town. For every door law enforcement tries to close, The Creed is on the other side of the keyhole, keepin' an eye on what's ours."
Click.
"So then. What do you say?"
She stands before you again, stopping to light her cigarette holder. She snuffs out the match, and sweet smoke curls around scarlet lips.
"I'll only say this once, 'PLASMA.' I want you." "We take care of what's ours. We'll help you out of here—expedite the process, let's say. After all, you have a date with a little silver-haired someone, don't you? Be a shame if something happened."
CLAW knows far too much.
"Join The Creed. Be mine. And you'll have the network of CLAW behind you when the world rises up and demands her head. And, bless their simple hearts, Arceus knows they will."

We'll take the stun spores Trebek, it'll be a surprise tool to use right now Deep breath in, deep breath out.
It was all Orion could do to keep himself calm in this situation. He didn't like cops. He, did NOT, like cops. Not one fucking bit, specially ones that were obviously crooked and against a very noble cause. Something in his Cayge blood roiled against this incarceration, and whoever had coded this entire interaction had done so having truly suffered under some harsh mistreatment and had NO qualms letting that venom color this interaction. It was grittily real, and a subtle reminder that their plight was all too real as well. His teeth were practically fused together from how hard he was grinding them, and nary a word would escape his lips.
They were fighting the good fight.
Then she showed up, and his rage all but boiled more. She dared to use their position above him to try and get him to despoil his ideals? To betray the professor and use Plasma for Power? The idea made him rage, and then she made the stupid decision to uncuff him. Like she owned this situation and he was some sort of well trained pooch who would play nice and never dream of biting the hand that fed.
"FUCK YOU."
Orion slammed into C.L.A.W's nose with his forehead.
It had been instinct, he hadn't turned to see the other two's opinions or expressions, he'd just gone off of raw gut. He kicked at the desk with their balls, calling out loudly. "ACHILLES! LETS SLOW IT DOWN EH?"
In a flash of darkness, the Incineroar appeared behind him, eyes wide with rage. "IT'S TIME FOR A HEEL TURN!"
The room pulsed with the psycadelic waves of Trick Room, a unique trick forged through their bonds spent together in the Everword. Fast was slow and slow was fast, and if you weren't expecting it your gut instinct is to move as fast as possible, every instinct driving your forward into the fight. The untrained mind, the unexepected fighter could never break through all of their conditioning and millions of years of raw instinct. They would blindly charge forward, faster and faster, their speed instead shackling them further and further.
But Orion was ready, and had trained to do this. Self control and mastery of motion, slow movements slid through the air like a freshly greased ham through Chinatown. He was the tortoise, and slow and steady translated to fast as fuck, which would win this fight before they knew what was knocking their lights out. Slowly, he snapped the spore grenade from the contraband and tossed it into the air.
"THINK SLOW CHUCKLENUTS"
The gently tossed grenade pirouetted through the air into the cluster of CLAW agents, and with a crack left out a wave of stunning spores, leaving most of the unaware caught in its daze as he turned to the nearest combatant and went to work brawling his way for the door.
"LET'S MAKE LIKE A CHIP AND GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!"

When Laguna finally began to stir, hearing the voice of the detective in the room, a deep frown immediately spread across her face. What kind of monsters had become in power? Maybe there was no laws protecting the rights of people in Briarbane under police abuse, but attempting to psychically dig into her head to give up answers?
That went far too far. It was a breach on her human rights! They weren't even treating People like People anymore if they decided they were the enemy.
[Tangent="Holy Fuck!"]"Saint ciboire!"[/Tangent] She cried out in French with righteous fury in her voice. [Tangent="The noodles are not all in the soup! Are you not ashamed! Use a rake in the soup, I won't find one!"]"Les nouilles ne sont pas toutes dans la soupe. N’avez-vous pas honte! Utilisez un râteau dans la soupe, je n’en trouverai pas!"[/Tangent]
Before she could continue to berate the man or attempt to escape on her own, C.L.A.W. stepped into the room, and everything slowly began to make sense. They were set up. She wanted to get them into a situation where she was in control, make them feel forced to work with her. It was nothing more than just another power game, and it had her fuming in anger. Heat began to radiate off of her body, pouring off of her like one was looking at the sun.
She'd politely remain quiet herself, only finally speaking once her hand was on her Pokeball. Already her Brionne popped out, just in time for the Trick Room. A smirk immediately spread across her face, perfect. "Tell you what. When you break the seal on your own Pokeballs, find true power, then we'll have something to talk about. Until then?"
Laguna didn't wait to finish her sentence, the heat pouring off of her in waves as she began to slide across the room. Intending to move slowly as the Trick Room carried her further and faster. Within moments, her fist would slam straight into the nearest Guard's Pokemon as they attempted to summon it to combat the powerful Trainers. A Sunsteel Strike, a move typically only useable by a Legendary Pokémon, in her hands.
"Marina! Do your thing!" Laguna called out, as suddenly waves of freezing cold air would surround her instead.
"On it! They're being awfully rude! Everyone, take a break!" Suddenly, the Brionne would let out the most adorable sound, echoing down the halls as a Disarming Voice. Laguna would watch as a few of the guards would stumble, the emotional damage hurting far worse than anything physical. The will to fight was drained from them.
She'd attempt to kick past, attempting to dodge and weave through Pokémon blasts and strikes, powering through despite any pain out of sheer stubborn energy. If there was one thing she was good at, it was being stubborn. A claw slash down her leg, an acidic burn to her shoulder, but it was fine. She could take it. Even as the fight raged on, a chill went up her spine.
The memory of rescuing Marina from the depths of the Everworld, nearly drowning and freezing to death washed over her. Breaking her nose and scratching her arms and legs to hell and back to rescue Glacia the first time. The memory of how her legs burned on the desert sands as she chased down the sun. She could take the virtual pain, it wasn't real. But these Pokemon, these people, were. Even through it all, attempting to abduct them, she couldn't bring herself to hate them.
They didn't know the truth.
Joining orioncayge down the hall after sliding beneath the legs of an unsuspecting guard. "Hope you got a plan to get us out of here! Or are we gonna start punching the walls?" She'd then glance back, hoping to see Verai close behind. Rolled a 4.Total Points: 20

The warmth of fluorescent lights, the soft hum they made. The ache of his shoulders, the clinking of handcuffs against his gauntlets. They're restrained, being questioned, but presumably not yet tortured. All in all, they were being treated well- Verai was surprised they were given chairs.
There was a snap and a sizzle, and the sound of someone choking. And then a voice, smooth like smoke. The game whispered that it was C.L.A.W. He didn't have many interactions with her, before, to which now he saw this was a good thing.
Their pokemon returned, a bit of the ruse falling away. Think of how we could help each other. Their handcuffs were slowly removed, Verai letting his arms move back to his side gently. He wasn't in any rush.
"I'll only say this once, 'PLASMA.' I want you."
At that, Verai sighed gently. He didn't know much about Laguna - he'd never really interacted with the woman before. But he knew orioncayge . And, clearly, C.L.A.W. didn't.
Proven instantly with the sound of bone against cartilage. Verai moved, not grabbing at the pokeballs, but instead simply sliding them off the table, clattering to the ground. The seals were broken; that was enough.
Light flared as the pokemon began spilling forth, warm against his face. Verai was not a veteran of pokemon games. He did not understand, internally, the restriction of pokemon battlefields. He was never used to fighting fair.
The world warped and slowed, the familiar adrenaline of battle, and Verai was in his element.
He didn't speak to his pokemon- they all simply moved. Kitten howled terribly, lunging at the nearest opponent, fur pitch as she sank teeth into their leg, biting savagely. Ta'si Vir was entrancing a group of cops, lights flickering around her in an intricate confuse ray.
Ya'ath had moved into his hands, and Verai lunged, blades gleaming as a sacred sword slammed into one of the cops, Verai wasting no time before following the others into the hall.
"There's always an exit," Verai said, grimly. "If not over- then through." They'd carve their own doors if they needed to- What they were doing was more important than one building in Briarbane.
He turned, hearing the clamor of more forces behind them. And by presence alone, he knew C.L.A.W. was with them, watching. "You want us? You don't even know what we are." He snarled, spreading a hand- an ancient tome appearing in it, pages flicking by some unfelt wind.
Lightning crackled around him, forming the barely-perceptible form of some great bird, with sharp feathers and a thin beak, the creature shrieking as it slammed into the group.
His pokemon kept close behind, still causing problems- Kitty wailing and crying, Disarming Voice keeping those still standing off-guard, and Tama had hooked his claws into a guard, vital throwing him into the wall, concrete shattering into dust.

"I don't have a plan per se." Orion called over to Laguna, hopping over a ledge and socking a cop with a solid right hook. The commotion had alerted them that something was coming, and well, nothing ever really prepares you for Orion coming at you with a right hook. Stumbling forward his gaze would shoot to the rear, where now Loki the Sneasel was sprinting out of the room with several balls in hand.
"Got everyone?" He'd ask,
"Yeah man! We're fuckin ballin!" The sneasel would quip back.
"Sick! ASTERION!" Orion barked. "COULD USE A LITTLE HELP GOIN APESHIT!" Several poke police were beginning to form a barricade down this comically long hall, like seriously was this entire police station one long hallway? Or was this some sort of cloaked dramatic chase scene? A strange instanced infinite hallways like the Gwendolyn fight is the cult classic videogame Dark Souls? A flash of red interupted that train of thought, and the noble black bull that his was his Paldean Flame Breed Tauros charged further forward, ramming into the barricade and blasting through it cleanly and quickly.
"STAND ASIDE!" The bull snorted with a thunderous cry as he continued his rampage forward. Another flash of red announced Zeus the zapping zebra, who pranced up next to Orion and scooped its neck down allowing him to climb on. He would then usher himself over to Laguna and offer her a hand to scoop her onto the getaway mon.
"Hit the gas Zeus!" The fighter roared, "Let Asterion smash our way forward and lets get gone! We have places to be, things to do, human rights to not be trampled"
He had no idea what was transpiring in his rearview, and it would be too late to stop it by the time he had.

"What do you mean you got no plan! Think on the fly, Cayge!" Laguna would bob and weave through the crowd, attempting to dodge attacks left, right and center. A powerful Bolt Beak from a spellbook slamming into a group, and a Taurus slammed through a group of foes. When a hand was offered to pull her up, Laguna denied it for now. She had her own idea that would resolve in less people being hurt.
"This is getting nowhere, fast! Sir Hail!" She called out, and suddenly the Cryogonal appeared at her side, her loyal knight as always. "I need you to cut through the wall! Rapin Spin!"
"There is no glory to be found in this combat." The Cryogonal replied, already beginning to spin up. "We shall escape, post-haste!" Suddenly like a buzzsaw, the snowflake began carving straight through the stone wall of the prison building, but it was going to take a few seconds.
"Split up!" Laguna called out to her fellow Plasma members. "They can't chase us all if we're not toget-"
Suddenly, a massive poison needle fired by a guard's bug Pokemon began flying straight towards her face, and everything seemed to happen in slow motion for just a second. The needle so laced with poison it was obviously dripping even as it flew through the air. Laguna's immediate instincts were to swiftly duck, but the Trick Room had her almost frozen in place.
"Laguna!" Her Brionne immediately cried, directly putting herself in between Laguna and the needle as she swam through the air and intercepted the attack. The powerful needle immediately digging into them.
"Marina!" Laguna immediately called out, fear in her voice. "Are you okay?"
"I'm- I'm okay." The Brionne replied through a strangled breath. Suddenly, all the concrete dust in the air from the Vital Throw earlier and the wall being carved away was swiftly sucked up and absorbed by the Pokemon. Their obvious wounds healed as they Shore'd Up their health, taking in the sand into their body. "N-never better, hah. Let's get out of here."
She had never been more thankful for nearly drowning in a river than she was right now.
Finally, the Cryogonal had carved a large enough hole in the wall that concrete fell in a massive chunk, giving her a way out with her fairly small Pokemon. Laguna swiftly crawled through the hole as she continued to shout. "I'll meet you all at the meeting place! Let's get going!"
Slipping outside, her Crygonal and Brionne flew and swam right by her side before she turned around. With a furious exhale, Laguna would swiftly cover her exit hole in ice to prevent her from being followed.
It felt terrible leaving Verai and orioncayge insde. But they were capable, they could make it. They had to. What... other choice did they have, if they wanted to evade capture and prevent being followed to the Junkyard, other than splitting up?
"Might I suggest-"
"Running? Yes, absolutely."
Her Pokemon suddenly vanished into her Pokeball as Laguna began to run as fast as she could. Pulling up her UI, she swiftly replaced Swimmer with Bolter temporarily, only to be immediately carried forwards almost as if she was running on a bolt of lightning, sprintng incredibly fast. Paired with her Trailblazer Kicks, fire, snowflakes, and electric sparks were all left in her wake as she sprinted, slid, and zoomed as fast as she possibly could to a safe zone. The wind was even on her side, as her magic Wand of the Winds and a powerful ice-cold Tailwind carried her through.
In the end, Laguna would find her way to the Junkyard after weaving and ice-skating through alley after alley to get anyone who was following her to lose her trail. No doubt confusing many NPCs and Players alike. But here she sat atop an old washing machine trying to catch her breath, shaking and shuddering.
At least Professor Ash escaped unharmed. She had to remind herself to thank Bergamot Gristleborg for being just a bad enough villain that people thanked her for not being evil, but not so evil that the cops even remotely cared about her.
"Ash..." Laguna would start to speak, only to need to take another deep breath. "They knew where we were heading. Someone set us up. C.L.A.W. was there, she knew the Code Word. She wanted power, she claimed to want in, but-" She sighed heavily, attempting to calm her nerves. They still had the most dangerous part ahead.
"If they knew what route we were taking, someone probably knows where we are going. We shouldn't linger too long. The others should be here soon... I hope."

The slim hallway was filled with commotion. More cops, more pokemon, more attacks. orioncayge was carving through the enemies in the front, while Laguna was clawing through the wall itself to get through. That left only one thing he needed to do- Keep anything from getting past.
"Miyū-" He breathed, and the absol moved silently to his side, garnet eyes watching the swarm. With a low cry, her horn glowed, plunging the room into darkest night as she lashed out, the cry of several injured guards the only indication she'd struck true.
Verai heard the galloping of Orion's pokemon, Laguna's muffled shout. They had distance between them and the ever-growing battlefield. But-
Verai took a slow, deep breath, and prayed. There was the sharp snarl of thunder, the flicker of lightning across his armor as he turned, slamming Ya'ath into the support beam nearest him. The stone shattered, building giving an ugly groan- before utterly collapsing, stemming the flow of those who would chase after Laguna or Orion.
Verai coughed against the dust in the air, trying to suck in a full breath before he was grabbed, quickly overpowered as he'd stopped fighting. His pokemon were wrested from his hands, face slamming into the ground as he was pinned.
He heard the soft click of high heels, smelled the sweet curl of smoke. "You want information?" He rasped. "All you had to do was ask." Leave a Player Behind +10 Join THE CREED +5 Total: 52

"BLUE!"
Panic filled Orion's heart as Laguna denied the offered hand and went on her own way. She had a point, if they split up the forces chasing them would also need to divide. What might be an overwhelming force to overcome for all three of them could be divided in such a way that perhaps one of them could escape and get back to the professor, to warn her of the coming danger. It was all they could hope for, and despite the knot in his stomach telling him to go back and get the others, he soldiered on.
"Don't stop runnin primo."
A phantom voice whispered in his ears, sending a chill down his back.
"One foot in front of the other, fast as you can. Go get pops, he'll know what to do."
Tears welled in Orion's eyes as he continued forward through the wreckage wrought by Asterion. All around him the rest of his team was running rampage, a veritable parade of bulls screaming fuck the police as they tore through the hallway. But Orion wasn't there in that moment, he was standing on seering hot blacktop smeared with streaks of crimson. His white trainers stained at the bottom with blood as he kneeled over his cousin, desperately applying pressure to wounds that would not yield.
"Alexander!" "Don't you ever stop running Primo." "I wanna fight!" "That's what... got us... into this mess." "I want revenge!" "And eye...for an eye... leaves us all blind," "I don't care! You're gonna get better! We're gonna get them back." "No,"
Orion stared down at his dying cousin, no older than fifteen yet wiser than his years as his lifeblood drained out onto the searing blacktop, his olive skin growing pale. Watching his future fade away, his potential flicker to nothing. Tears streaming down his face.
"This city will kill you Primo, you keep livin by the sword you're gonna die by that same fuckin sword." "This city is our home!" "This city is your cage. Run Primo, don't ever look back." "No!" "Don't stop running." "No!" "Live Orion, Live a fucking great life. Do great things." "We'll do them together! Get up Alexander!" "Tell me all bout it when we see eachother again." "ALEXANDER!" "Adios Primo, I'll see you in the sands."
An enraged howl escaped Orion's lips as they smashed through the front door, Asterion a bullish battering ram and the rest of the brigade blitzing through broken barricades from behind. Bulls had bested the pigs, their pen penetrated by plenty of punches. And yet as his cavalcade of comrades continued to cruise, his eyes failed to find any of his friends. Panic continued to settle in his stomach, but he pushed forward.
The professor was potentially in peril, and needed protecting. The others would be fine, they could log out and get out of danger if needed. They'd all chosen their paths, and they'd all chosen to walk by the sword.
They would face the repercussions later.
"Come on Zeus! Lets keep running! Everyone else scatter and lose em!"
And so Orion made his mad dash out of the city, sneaking and slinking along side streets and shadows. Some sort of bomb or something went off in the police station, so pursuit was paused possibly, but proper procedure needed to be practiced pending being proved otherwise. Yet, when he arrived he was able to find both Laguna and the professor both seemingly unharmed.
"Thank fuck!" He barked hopping off the Zap Zebra and giving him a few appreciative pats as he joined the two. "Where's Verai! We need to get the fuck out of here like four hours ago!" Instinctively he would begin to look over both Laguna and Ashe looking for any injuries or wounds despite the numerous scrapes and scraps that lined his body.
He had no clue what had happened.

A single response, something imperceptible to Ash or C.L.A.W. or any other. Another power only the Players held.

"You don't have to tell me nothin', hon," Stiletto heels click into view before Verai, half-buried in rubble. Slow, measured steps. Final heartbeats. System Admin:Claw has no need to rush—she knows she's won. "I'll just know. Don't worry your pretty head about those friends of yours: a lady keeps her promises. Even if some of y'alls mommas didn't teach you any manners."
A gaze upwards would reveal a swollen face streaked with blood, yet flushed with victory. Twizzler lips curve blissfully upwards in a smile like a fresh slice of apple.
"Welcome to The Creed."
In your PARTY MEMBERS screen, Verai's name flips to venom-red.
Nothing hampers Laguna and Orion's dash to the rendezvous point. The way is strangely clear— no more searchlights, pursuers, or anonymous tips. The sounds of distant scuffles might reach you, but they are none of your concern. You have one priority: Reach the Junkyard. Meet Professor Ash.
Go through the door. Please check your comments for extra interaction.LOADING: CYCLE 3SHOW ME THE DOOR: PLASMA STORY QUESTBZZZZSHHHHHH!
At the bottom of the sea, in the Ostellia harbor, a flash of light sputters in the depths. A Doortal, activating at long last.
The party emerges: two Swimmers, freely breathing in ocean like oxygen, one professor in scuba gear, and a number of previously-promised "water mon." These Pokemon are here for protection, not mobility—the three of you are limited to your own muscle power to carry you upwards. Stroke by stroke. Silent, arm over arm. Feet, kicking rhythmically. Peaceful, even, despite your aching muscles.
Safe, but slow.
You realize the darkness has become dimness— not from the light above, but from ones below. Professor Ash turns to look, brows furrowing beneath her scuba mask, and you see her eyes widen in amazement.
Beautiful, translucent shapes rise alongside you, spiraling from deeper in the trench. They are vaguely familiar: [tangent=]Nihilego[/tangent], soaring like moon-jellies through the sea. They have just come back from a catch— some hold small, fish-like Pokemon. Others hold small balls of pure light, taken from who-knows-where. Still more cling to small relics which crawl with latent Corruption, shimmering in dark contrast to their luminous bodies. A trio even soar past with a particularly bulky prize: a white marble casket.
Some, unfortunately, are empty-handed. But that can be changed.
The unburdened Nihilego change direction, fanning out and surrounding your water Pokemon with clear interest, anemone-like tentacles fanning. They make no move to attack. Instead, a numbing toxin spreads from them in waves, washing over your Pokemon before they can even realize the nature of the threat.
Slowly, slowly, the beasts drift forward. Slowly, slowly, they reach out, spooling in your stunned Pokemon in like thread, binding them in a nest of luminous polyps.
"No!" Ash cries, words lost in a stream of thin bubbles from the scuba mask, as the Nihilego begin to drift away.
If you allow this to happen, you will not get these back until after the World Event. Kicking out powerfully, Ash swims towards the Nihilego, releasing her Runerigus. Her command is indecipherable underwater, but the ghost-type seems to understand. Shadowy arms slither and extend like spools of caution tape, attempting to cut the invasive species off before they can leave the harbor. Its stony head grinds against its body, draconic runes changing to a fierce snarl.
The Professor points after the cloud of jellyfish, beckoning to Laguna and Orion. Hurry! she seems to say, her hair a teardrop-shaped cloud of silver. Before they—
Your expressions change before hers does. You see it first.
One last Nihilego drifts up from the depths and settles its arms, like an old friend, around Ash's neck.
<PROFESSOR!> Runerigus roars in your minds, the first time you've ever heard it talk. The woman is stiff, shocked, limbs jerking spastically as the neurotoxin settles into her system. The Nihilego nestles closer, drawing her in, fitting its glass-like bell over her head.
She jerks as if stung.
Then her face floods with sudden emotion. Fear. Wonder. Joy. Confusion. But fighting for the top, and winning in the end, is what can only be described as...
She— Nihilego— spins in the water, an undersea pirouette.
...ᖇᘿᒪᓰᘿᖴ.
Then her eyes open, and Nihilego swims down.
Down, down, down to the Doortals; woman and alien in perfect sync, perfect harmony. A tentacle wraps around a human arm like a brace, guides it eagerly to the handle. The Doortal activates. Light and water bend to fit the shape of a new world, taking Professor Ash with it.

No.
Nonono.
Nonononononononononononononononononononono.
Panic didn't swell in Orion's chest, it writhed and expanded throughout his entire body, a proverbial manifest destiny of dread that coursed through every fiber of his being. Each panicked beat of his heart spread adrenaline and fear though his veins like a paralyzing venom more potent than any neurotoxin the Nihelago could produce. The professor sank deeper, his coffin floated further, Laguna and her mon were in danger. Somewhere, elsewhere, Verai was possibly locked up and being interrogated. His mind froze, like a deer caught in the headlights of a semi truck, moments away from being pasted into bloody chunks.
This was his fault.
He'd been the one to suggest the scuba suit, it'd be safe he'd said. He swore he'd protect the professor. He swore he'd protect everyone. Now what had he done? He'd lead them face first into another fucking trap, not only that, but he'd been the one to route their doom out. He'd been the one to set them up to fail almost every step of the fucking way, right into this mess. He'd failed them.
Just like he always did.
He'd failed to make anything out of himself, despite his families best wishes and support. He'd failed to make things work with Rin, because his own stubborn pride refused to let go of the one thing he felt good at. He'd failed to support his father through the loss of his mother, drowned in his own sorrow induced delusions. He'd failed to save Alexander, let alone he was the reason he'd been shot. He'd gotten his mother killed.
Useless, he was fucking useless.
Time and time again he'd fucked things up royally, he was the fucking Duke of House Fuck-up, long may he shit the bed. And even now, in this pivotal moment, he was frozen in fear. What could he do? How could he save them? Laguna, no, Abigaelle was going to suffer because of his mistake. She might not feel the pain as succinctly as he did, nor would her injuries chase her to the real world, but it would sting plenty enough. And her broken heart would transcend this game, despoiling a source of joy in her otherwise difficult life. The professor wasn't going to be able to log out and walk this off. At best she was going to suffer immensely for his mistake, at worst...
Orion's eyes clenched shut. It was hopeless, and for once his fight or flight reflex locked his body into inaction.
It was over, he had failed.
I'm sorry...I'm so fucking sorry. Please, forgive me. Mom, Alex, Professor...I'm not strong enough. I can't do it.
...
Outside the roiling whirlwind inside Orion's head was chaos. He'd only three water mon to his name, Arachnae the Dewpider, Gilgamesh the Whimpod, and Posidon the Carvanah. They'd been brought out strategically, two healers to flit about and do any supporting that might need doing, and one to play guard dog. Unfortunately that plan went bellyup from the word Holy Fuck, and things quickly turned into a shitshow.
"Boss!"
The trio called out to their trainer, but one look at his shellshook face was enough to break their morale almost immediately. Orion never froze, no matter how dangerous the fight, no matter how hopeless it seemed, he always was ready to take an ass kicking on the chin and get right the fuck back up to dish it back.
But not today.
"RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!" Gilgamesh screeched. "CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGE!" Poseidon howled, diving downward. "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADY!" Arachnae sobbed, slamming her bubble head into Orion's gut to try and snap him out of it.
Poseidon's deftly navigated the minefield of tentacles and poison at a breakneck speed as he gunned it downwards, chasing after the trail of the professor's captor. A small swarm had begun to swirl and writhe about, forming a wall of tentacles and Neurotoxin for the mon to manage. Deftly he swam and spun about the various obstacles before letting loose an indignant, gurgling howl and slamming into a Nihelago at maximum velocity. The force of the blow caused the gelatin like head of the creature to wriggle and distort like a trampoline before bouncing the brave sea god into a writhing mass of neurotoxic tendrils. His body wriggled and writhed, and then grew still, a howl frozen in it's open jaw, trapped eternally in it's throat. Several tentacles wrapped around his body, dragging him deeper into the depths beneath the bay.
"DADDY!" Arachnae wailed. "WAKE UP DADDY! WE NEED YOU! POSEIDON NEEDS YOU! MS BLUE NEEDS YOU! THE PROFESSOR NEEDS YOU. I NEED YOU. PLEASE." The baby mon bawled, "WAKE UP! YOU HAVE TO SAVE THE DAY! JUST LIKE YOU ALWAYS DO! DAAAAAAADDY!" Yet no matter how frantically the spider pawed at her master, his eyes were glued to something far away, the lights were on but nobody was home.
"PLEASE! SOMEBODY! ANYBODY!"
...
Gilgamesh was hauling ass to the surface like a bat out of hell. This was a nightmare, truly the worst of worst case scenarios. The whole thing had smelled of bullshit, and he'd known it! He wanted to stay home with MOM, munch on Doritos and Fritos, and listen to conspiracy theories about rigged elections and the abuse of federal power to keep the little man down. Maybe he was better off as one of MOM's mons, clearly he wasn't cut out for this line of work.
After all, it wasn't like he was strong and beefy like Achilles. He wasn't quick and cunning like Loki. He didn't have charm and magic like Pythia. He wasn't built like a fucking bulldozer like Asterion.
He wasn't brave like Orion.
And where had all of that bravery gotten his master, huh? They'd bit off more than they could chew and now he was stuck, frozen down there with the others. Abandoned with baby Arachnae, having marched Poseidon straight to his doom, having marched all of them straight to their doom. How could he have possibly thought this was a good idea? This was clearly a suicide mission, and he'd leapt right into the maw of the beast. How the fuck could he have thought this would work?
But...
How many times had he pulled a rabbit out of an impossible hat? How many gigantic goliath's had his master felled with his fists and the power of friendship? How many impossible odds had been surmounted before? No matter what had happened, his master had fought tooth and nail, kicked and screamed, lie cheated and stole his way to victory that shouldn't have been possible. What was different about this?
Why was he scared now?
Being brave isn't about not being scared lil man. It's about not letting it stop you.
Gil stopped in his tracks, the momentum of his skittering pulling him forward as he soared toward the surface.
He'd always been scared.
All of those fights, all of those impossible odds, he'd faced them all while terrified without letting any of his team know. He'd shouldered the burden of terror on his shoulders like Atlas, and trudged through hell and high water to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat time and time again. He'd been brave, despite not having a full retinue of moves, or sick stats, or chitinous armor to protect him.
He'd fought, he'd bled, he'd screamed.
He'd won.
And here Gil was, halfway to the surface leaving him behind, in his darkest hour, alone.
How could he ever forgive him?
His buggy eyes clenched shut as he fought back tears. Time and time again, Orion had worked with him, trained with him to be brave. To show him what he was truly capable of. That you didn't need to be big and brawny to brave, you just had to do the right thing at the right time. He was a coward, a cravenous chitin clad child who could only dream of chasing the deeds of his master one day.
No.
The word roared through his head.
NO MORE.
The bug's eyes opened, as a rage began to swell within his tiny heart. How could he possibly abandon the boss in his hour of need. After all he'd done for him, after all they'd been through. All of the good times, the fun times, the sad time, he couldn't turn his back on any of it. Something seethed under his chitin, a roiling anger that pulsed through every vein of his body as he began to glow white.
HE WAS DONE RUNNING.
...
"PLEASE! SOMEBODY! ANYBODY!"
Cried Arachnae. Her plea was met with a harrowing roar, high in pitch, but carrying a booming presence. Her eyes darted upwards, past her trainer and watched in amazement and horror as the marble casket came rocketing past them, propelled by a sterling silver giant.
"GILLY!"
Orion's eyes snapped back into focus, his gaze darting to the Golisopod. "Gil?" The word left his lips like a whisper.
"MY NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME!" The goliath howled, charging forward, using the marble casket as a battering ram to shove past the minefield of neurotoxin and tentacles. "IS GIIIIIIIIIIIIILGAMESH THE MOTHER FUCKING BRAVEBUG." The casket plowed through several of their gelatinous foes like bugs on a windshield, yet still he struggled to make headway towards the professor who had long vanished into the crowd. "AND I'M DONE LETTING BEING SCARED STOP ME!" The coffin continued to plummet into the depths, but its force had slowed to the point where it was no longer an effective deterrent to any toxic tentacles. Cloaked in the IRON DEFENSE of his shell, Gilgamesh let loose a furious bout of slashes with RAZOR SHELL hacking and slashing at the rubbery bodies of his foes with incredible effectiveness. Of course, the size of the army was much too large for one bug alone, but he'd known that coming down here. He could feel the Neurotoxin in the water eating away at his defenses, slowly seeping into his system. This had been a one way trip to the depths, and all he could hope for was this act of defiance to buy enough time, for the shock of this assault to wake up his sleeping master.
To uncayge his master's frozen heart.
"BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSS!" The bug howled, laying down shell after shell of slash, each more sluggish than the last. "IF I CAN BE BRAVE!" The bug panted, running out of steam. "THEN YOU CAN FIGHT! WE HAVEN'T LOST A FIGHT YET! DO YOU PLAN ON LETTING SOME PUSSY ASS JELLYFISH BEAT US?!? GET THE FUCK UP AND FIGHT!"
Orion's eyes widened at the display before him. The mighty bravebug had megamorphed into a true hero, slashing and clashing with the best of them as he fought to snatch victory out of the jaws of defeat. No matter what it took, no matter what the cost, Gilgamesh had chosen to live by the sword.
And he would fall by the sword.
Countless tentacles swarmed the sluggish slugger as the neurotoxin did its work. His defenses slowed, the force behind each hit lessened significantly as each sequential strike suffered the loss of steam. Orion's pulse quickened.
Not Gil.
A spark of rage ignited in his heart, setting fire to the despair that had seeped into him like gasoline, and Orion was ALIGHT with FURY. "GIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL!" He howled, anger burning brightly like a beacon in his heart, ready to burst forth. "DON'T STOP FIGHTING!"
"HOW BOUT YOU START FIGHTING!" The bug managed to howl back before a writhing mass of tentacles overwhelmed the battle beetle and began to drag him deeper into the depths alongside the casket.
"GIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL"
Orion let out a mighty howl, fueled by rage and despair, enhanced by his bonds with everyone around him as a brilliant cerulean blue beam burst from his lips. A scream that could be heard from miles, a scream that had lashed out at demons and gods alike with impunity, born of a frustration fueled by loss and grief, emboldened by a desire to detect those he loved. Orion opened his heart to the world, and it gave him the means to fight back with a mighty MOONGEIST BEAM.
He let it all out, his rage, his despair, his grief, his love, his everything. Every fiber of his being roiled and rebelled against the odds placed before him. He was done running, he was done hiding. He was going to save the professor, he was going to save Gilgamesh, he was going to protect Laguna, he was going to save the day, no matter what the cost was to him at the end. He was done losing the people he cared about, and while he wasn't sure what was going to happen, he knew one thing for certain.
Even if they lost the battle, he would end the fucking war by any means.
