Heather knew what the stakes were.
She'd seen this before.
Seattle. The day the bombs fell, heroes fell with them. The blood in the street flowed freely like rainwater, draining into the sewers and feeding the flora that sprouted red leaves.
To survive, sacrifices weren't optional.
She couldn't save everyone.
"Sometimes you have to fight for what's right," Heather finished. She initiated COMBAT!

"Alright, Glaceon," Kath commanded. "You go right ahead and ice over this whole area!"
Her Glaceon, a quiet pokemon who had spent most of her time as of late inside a pokeball, was less interested in following commands and more interested in just sniffing.
"Come on," Kath said desperately. If Grookey came back with better results, she'd never live it down. "Just, make things icy. Like your colossal counterpart did in the arena!"
The Glaceon tilted her head.
"Please?!"
Bothered by the noise, a larvesta started chirping nearby.
"Shut- don't worry, be quiet," Kath waved it away. "You'll still be able to live here, it's just going to be a little busier with all of the refugees."
Glaceon straightened her head. She had a look on her face that said 'well, if it's to help refugees...' as she reared back and cast a wave of ICE over the closest steaming geyser.
"Yes!" Kath pumped her fists. "Now all we need is-"
Suddenly a Salazzle appeared, razzle-dazzling its way over to Kath's Glaceon!
Glaceon looked a bit offended at first, but then, suddenly, curious. The Salazzle was waggling its finger in front of Glaceon's face, as if to say 'no, no, we aren't taking any visitors at this time.'
"Glaceon," Kath started...
