There was so much riding on this. The fate of the Ultra Beasts, their Alien World, all of Ostelia, and combating the Corruption itself. Everything relied upon freeing the Ultra Beasts from Hearteater. The future of all of UNOVR hung in the balance, delicately like a sword dangling above them all hung by a thin string, waiting to just drop.
It didn't matter if we couldn't understand them, no beings should ever be forced to serve another. The Players of the NA server once stood up against a psychic threat that attempted to control their own minds, it was time to follow through and completely rid the world of such mind-controlling threats for all.
To that end, as soon as Laguna received the Voice Message from Ash, she knew what to do.
It was time to throw a party.
Not just any normal party, no. This was specifically to draw all the wayward players together not involved in Ash's secret scouting mission, and to get everyone involved to be working together as a team. Perhaps it was ill-taste to be throwing a party in the face of imminent danger, but sometimes you just gotta grease the wheels and get people to actually show up and discuss strategy somehow.
She had immediately gotten to work, spreading leaflets everywhere she could within the game, and then on the internet on every social media she could involving the game.
Finding Hotel Plasma wouldn't be hard, not with the many signs she scattered about the Nexus, like one trying to point drivers to your family's Garage Sale, at every intersection nearby. The loud music being played from a small bootleg MP3 player hooked up to several car speakers in a makeshift music system certainly helped too. Clearly an old run-down Hotel, that had been patched up a surprising amount. Broken floorboards ripped and replaced, ruined windows boarded up, but the hole in the ceiling right above the main lobby was still the fastest way to drop down from the 2nd floor.
Laguna had fully redecorated the Lobby, stealing every single rug she could find from every rundown apartment nearby in an attempt to make a proper Starlet dancefloor, and tables lined with snacks that she had politely asked Mom for, it didn't take her much convincing to provide for a party for her kids. That, and Laguna's own Pokémon were all over the place, none of them restrained by her Pokéball.
However, it wasn't just Laguna who had made changes to the place. orioncayge had converted the lobby fireplace into a makeshift forge for Ironsmiths, several anvils filling the immediate space and broken car parts decorated the area as scrap to be utilized. After all, this wasn't just a party. It was War Preparations.
She had no doubts that the lobby would be destroyed tonight by everyone's shenanigans, but that was the cost of attempting to host an entire server.
Once people started arriving, Laguna herself would stand atop the old, and albeit slightly dangerous, stairs to the second floor to call out across the lobby. "Welcome, everyone! It's time that we put our collective hearts forwards and show this world what we can do! Together!" She'd raise her wand, and her Pokemon from across the lobby cheered out.
"Hearteater, whatever it may be, is controlling the Ultra Beasts actions. We once stopped something from manipulating minds before, and we'll do it again! I encourage everyone to get prepared! Discuss strategy, find a raid buddy, get ready for everything ahead. CPR! Combat Prep Readiness! But after that!"
She'd make a big sweeping motion, pointing towards a hallway. "In the old drained pool, is a wooden test dummy! Once you feel ready, go ahead and give it all you got! Hit as hard as you can! Show us how powerful you and your Pokémon are, together!" Welcome to Heart Attack. This is a Mechanics-Light Scenario, to prepare for Part 2 of the World Event. As soon as Signups begin, this Scenario will end 24 hours afterwards.
Players will be collecting CPR Points, through their actions in the Scenario. You gain CPR Points by doing the following tasks. Each one gains you 1 CPR Point, and can be repeated. Multiple Tasks can be done in one post, just be reasonable!
Bring Snacks and Hydrate Discuss Combat Strategy Purchase Upgrades Listen to Another's Advice Bond with Your Pokemon Develop a New Technique Share Quest Knowledge With Others Theorize About Hearteater With Others Learn Another's Combat Capabilities Pick a Raid Buddy.
Once you collect 10 CPR Points, you may then head to the Wooden Test Dummy (constructed to resemble Necrozma) and do one Combat Post to practice Mechanical Combat.
This can happen at any time after 10 CPR points, and afterwards you can return to the Party for more socializing, if you wish. However, once you make your Mechanical Combat practice post, you will have completed the Scenario.

When the message first came out, Alicia had warred with herself. Her first instinct was to jump in. But multiple things held her back. The threat of capture, of being reduced to a mere damsel in distress, made her chafe. The need for subtlety too, made her wince. She was a fighter, up front and in one’s face at this point. While she personally could sneak about, she couldn’t say the same for most of her Pokemon. She hated the thought of waiting for a better time, but that task was just… not suited to her abilities. So when another message for a raid prep party went out, she jumped at the thought. Until she saw who it was from. She only knew Laguna briefly from Midas Corp… and she feared that she didn’t give the best first impression. What should she do? Appear and pretend nothing weird happened? That she hadn’t succumbed to a moment of insanity? But at the same time… if she was going to shine, she had to appear and figure out how to coordinate with others. Even if the thought of being around a bunch of people made her freeze in fright… ”Where is it?” Tikani asked suddenly. Alicia let out a small noise of surprise as she looked up. ”You’ve been muttering to yourself this whole time.””H-Have I?” Alicia asked, grimacing. Then she let out a quick shriek as she was lifted by Tikani’s vines and onto the Bayleef’s back. ”Oh- A-Alright, it’s in the Nexus! Some place called Hotel Plasma? I hope it’s not refer-IIIIIING!”Tikani had turned into a bolt of purple electricity without further preamble, tearing across the lands of Ostellia at mind numbing speeds. Thanks to the absurd boost in velocity the signature move of the Iron Serpent granted, Alicia and Tikani arrive before anyone else, the pinkette atop smoking a bit. She really needed to invest in Bolter ranks… With a pinch of her fingers, she put out an ember that got stuck to her hair and smoothed her locks back out. Then she waved awkwardly once Tikani unwrapped her vines and let her dismount. ”Um… hi!”——————————————————————— {Party}Tikani (Bayleef) [3/3/4] Giyun (Duraludon) [3/3/4] Venex (Naganadel) [3/3/4] Sylvene (Pidgeot) [4/4/4] Rath (Growlithe) [4/4/4] Yuyan (Celesteela) [3/3/3]

CRACK
Orion's hammer fell upon the anvil like lightning upon the windswept steppes of the region he'd come to call home.
CRASH.
One again his hammer fell, keeping a steady tempo.
CLANG.
Only on the third hit did he stop and go over his work, pausing to dab at the sweat beading at his forehead with his flaming bandanna. Hotel Plasma had become a home away from home in this digital world, second only to crashing on MOM's couch and snacking on her moreos and telling her tales from his travels. His heart pulsed almost in sync with the music Laguna had put on, he had a sneaking suspicion that tonight would be filled with heart puns. That was just the type of woman she was, and frankly he wasn't even bothered. She was a woman of culture, with refined taste, after all. He admired her taste in music, her sense of humor, the way she dressed herself...and she obviously had excellent taste in men.
Or maybe he was just biased.
He paused his work for her speech, but when it was done and everything was ready to go he resumed his work. CRACK, CLANG, CRASH. He'd spent the majority of the day helping her get ready for the whole thing, this was after all, their shared base. She'd gotten sweets from MOM, he'd rearranged every table he could get his hands on in the metroplex. The end result was a snack line that reminded him of the mishmash of tables from his uncles pizzeria, his own contribution was several aluminum trays filled with cooked burger patties and hotdogs. He's put a few ears out to see if Big Bee or Kaylee would bring a large jug of the legendary blue smoothie, but if they'd gotten back to him he hadn't noticed the alert, he was mildly preoccupied by other things in his UI.
Like the sick crafting minigames.
Once the party was ready, he'd let his partner worry about the social side of things for the moment, his honey do list was starting to look like a rather Herculean list of labors and he was burning daylight. Pulling his current project off the table he would motion from Loki the Hisuian sneasel to step forward as he handed him a short asian style blade. For a normal person it would probably be considered a wakizashi, but for the small weasel mon it was more akin to Katana length for him.
"Give this a couple swings buddy." Orion murmured, half present in the interaction as he side eyed the upgrade screen in the corner of his vision where five ranks of the COUPLE subclass were waiting in his basket. That was a conversation he needed to have. No, Need was the wrong word. He WANTED to have that conversation with her, they'd sorta just happened, not a lot of talk, just a lot of...doing what came naturally. Like, sure they were dating, that was obvious enough but like...it wasn't like in highschool where things popped off when you were myspace or facebook official. Maybe he was thinking about it too much, or maybe he wasn't thinking about it enough. He wasn't usually this nervous about things like this, or shit in general recently, but perhaps all of the recent upheaval in his life had left him craving a certain level of certainty that came with dumb pageantry like this.
Loki gave the blade a few swings, rattling of a few token memes about GLORIOUS NIPPON STEEL (despite that blade being built Ford tough) and showing him how to samurai this bitch, he simply patted the weasel on the head and smiled.
"Glad you like it bud." H "It's SICK dude, I'm gonna name it Frostmourn." "That's taken bud." "WHAT? BY WHO?" "The Lichking I think." "MORE LIKE BITCH KING!" Loki declared striking a pose. "ME AND MY FROSTMOURNE WILL CUT HIM DOWN!" "One raid at a time buddy."
This elicited a guffaw from the fighter before he turned his attention to the first of the new arrivals, a woman he'd seen once or twice before. "Yo!" He called out with a wave. "Welcome to the party! Drinks are over there! Foods over there! Lemme know if you need any help with prep, I'm juuuuust about wrapped up with all of the stuff I've got on my checklist."
CPR score: 2 1 from bringing snacks 1 from bonding with a mon.

Zac could smell free food like a shark could smell blood in the water. He loitered by the table, palming full hot dogs into his pocket as he chatting with an increasingly-frustrated high ranking player called Slycer1.
"So do you use Sweepers?" asked Slycer1, trying to make polite small-talk.
"Nah. Between you and me I usually leave before anyone busts out cleaning equipment."
"That's funny," Slycer1 said, not laughing, "what about Tank then?"
"I didn't get dishonorably discharged just to willingly hop back in a military vehicle!" Zac joked, as he picked up a paper plate and started to load it with biscuits and burgers.
"So you're Support then," Slycer1 stated. Over the past few minutes his body language had shifted from polite to clearly annoyed. His arms were crossed, his foot was tapping, and he was about ten seconds from drawing his weapons and sending Zac a PvP request.
"Listen. If you wanna put a label on it then sure!" Zac said, giving Slycer1 a big smile. "I'm a support! But really the only one who does any supporting around here is my Chikorita Petal."
Slycer1 visible relaxed, finally sensing an opening to discuss the game. The tension in the air dropped palpably. "What were your max heals in Thunderfall?" he asked, as if this were a normal question. "I respecced all my trees before the raid and switched out of tank so that I could max out Sweeper and Support. With some lucky Catty heals I was doing like 450. It was pretty good," he bragged.
"Oh I wasn't in Thunderfall," Zac replied.
Slycer1 nodded. This made sense. Buzzster had the aura of a n00b. Someone who didn't have much game experience. Hell, he'd probably just picked up the game recently and-
Slycer1's eyes flicked to Zac's title. Quizmaster. That was a legacy title from the Back To School event. An event that Slycer1 had missed because he hadn't been playing the game yet.
Frantic, he opened his UI and inspected the player. He'd registered in June...2022. A full year and change before Thunderfall. Before Precipice Crown. Before even Noonlight! Hell, he'd almost signed up in time to be in the Beta Raid!
Anger suffused Slycer1. "What the hell! You're a veteran!"
"Again, dishonorably discharged."
"Why weren't you in Thunderfall?"
"I was looking for my niece."
Slycer1 closed his mouth. Opened it. Closed it again. Growled. And punched the table. "You've been playing for years!"
"Yeah! Almost got the hang of things too! I did my first upgrade last week! Crazy stuff." Buzzster took a sip of orange soda.
Slycer1 inspected Zac again. He wasn't lying. He had T5 in Gardener and, inexplicably, T3 in level moves for each tree and nothing else. "What the hell kind of build..." and then he saw it. The straw that broke the camels back.
Zac had a single Pokemon equipped in a tree. It was his Chikorita. And she was equipped in Tank.
"You know what? Fuck you. Stop wasting my time," Slycer1 snarled, and he stalked off into the party. {CPR} Learn Another's Combat Capabilities Listen to Another's Advice

Glancing around as everything started coming together, Alicia hummed to herself. Orion was nice enough to direct her to where food and drinks could be found. But rather than take from what was available at the moment, Alicia had actually pulled out a large heated tray of her own and slide it into an empty spot on the food table. Orion might recognize it if he had paid attention to the pinkette in Steel Chef’s first round. It was, after all, a recreation of her first dish there. A nice fettuccini alfredo whose sauce sparkled like stars, and plenty of egg with bacon mixed in. Scrambled this time as making a proper omelette was a no go for what was assumed to be a large gathering. Smiling, she quickly slinked away in the hopes of not being noticed by- ”Oh for- what’s a noob like you doing here?” Well, it wasn’t Laguna who noticed her outright yet. But it looked like someone else had noticed her. And Slycer1 was in a foul mood from dealing with Zac earlier. And with her not having any titles at all, she must have looked like prime bullying material. ”Girl, did you catch that this was a WORLD event coming up? Shoo along back to Briarbane, and let-“The tryhard player was interrupted as one of Alicia’s pokeballs opened on its own, and a Duraludon manifested from the light with his arms folded. ”How’s about youse pay the Boss some respect? Between the two of you, I’d much rather march on her orders over yours.””The hell!?” Slycer exclaimed, ”Control your Pokemon!””Why should I?” Alicia asked, stepping forward. ”Giyun has a point, you’re being a bit of a jerk. And it’s not like he’s attacking you unprovoked. And for your information, I’m either a bit of extra prep or a respec away from fifth tier Sweeper. I’m just trying to avoid doing a respec because I want my other trees to be remotely useful too.””Bull-“ Slycer started, moving to check her as well the way he looked at Zac. He then froze as he saw what she had to offer. As well as her start date. ”Wh-what!? But you just started this year!?”Everything was at least Tier 3 for Alicia at the moment. Tank Level was Tier 4, and Sweeper was full Tier 4. ”I rushed hard and fast to be ready for this. So back off. And even if I wasn’t ready, I have a stake in this fight regardless.” Alicia growled out. Thoroughly chastised, the tryhard had little choice but to step away. Lest they end up causing a serious problem and turning this attempted party into a fight. Alicia sighed and stalked her way into a far corner, soon accompanied by her Bayleef and Duraludon. ”I can see why you sometimes hesitate when presented the chance to go to one of these meetings.” Tikani mused. ”Does his kind always appear at these things?””Not always…” Alicia mutter, climbing up onto Tikani’s back to snuggle into the Bayleef’s body. ”But often times, yes. People who are too big for their own heads. People who don’t understand the value of the journey. People who just want to put everyone else down. Because that’s how they feel good about themselves. Thanks, by the way, Giyun.””Any time, Boss. You’ve busted your tail to get this far. Ain’t no one going to put you down while I’m on lookout.” Giyun replied. ”… Not sure I fully understand what you two were talking about though.””Don’t worry about it.” Alicia assured, reaching out and patting the Duraludon on the shoulder. Tikani, meanwhile, hummed softly, looking over at Laguna specifically. A thought came to mind. Something that made her wonder. Maybe the Freezer girl would feel the Bayleef’s intense gaze… ——————————————————————— {Party}Tikani (Bayleef) [3/3/4] Giyun (Duraludon) [3/3/4] Venex (Naganadel) [3/3/4] Sylvene (Pidgeot) [4/4/4] Rath (Growlithe) [4/4/4] Yuyan (Celesteela) [3/3/3] CPR: 2 Brought Food of her own. With Shalin not being selected to scout Heartbreak, she had to throw down the gauntlet with her team in order to prepare. And what better way to do that than joining Laguna at Hotel Plasma in the Forgotten Nexus? It would be a good way to bond with Olivia, feeling the Buzzwole would be essential to defeating Necrozma.
"Hi, everyone!" Shalin waved, sitting on Olivia's still wing as the Buzzwole flexed to greet them. Beta Testers truly were something else, weren't they? In particular, she faced Alicia Westfield with a mischievous grin the Gardener hadn't seen since they had met in the Whimsical Woods. She had yet to formally train the muscular mosquito to ferry her in combat. Now was the ideal time. "Thanks for the drinks, Cayge!" she greeted the high-ranking Round 2 member. "I'll take you up on that once I'm done practicing this sick new technique with Olivia here. But before I can develop it, some upgrades are in order."
Pulling up the shop menu, the girl picked up a few important upgrades, including the final level of Beta Tester. Not only would this let her perform some of the most outlandish riding stunts imaginable, but it would let her equip a second class. She was now a Gardener again. That crown icon in the subclass menu felt great to see.
Information> Beta Tester MASTERED - +1 Class slot and +1 to Luck upon level up!
Furthermore, she took some advice from Josh Devlin and invested in more damage: both a Sweeper upgrade and the Recoil core ability. "Sorry to keep you waiting on the Colossal Buizel, Alicia - I think with these upgrades, I'm just about ready. Just need to do a little more maintenance, and we should be able to take that thing down."
With her new skills, Shalin reined the Buzzwole just outside the hotel entrance to a piece of fallen rubble. "Olivia, let's go! DYNAMIC PUNCH!" The fighting-type raised one of his enormous fists and slammed it into the rock, leaving a large crack in it. Then came the fruits of her new upgrades. The Buzzwole began fiercely shaking her wings, rocking Shalin with a frequency that could have given the others present a massive headache. Her weight on the wing made it shudder with extra power, the girl squealing like she was having the time of her life. As for the piece of rock?
It was a pile of dust by the time Shalin was visible again. What may have been most mindblowing to those present was the feat didn't seem to affect her one bit. If anything, she seemed ready for more!

Though Nero would never admit it out loud, he had been a little intimidated by the news of the World Event. He had gotten into the habit of treating UNOVR like a cosy game, a casual little unserious game with no stakes and no pressure, and yes he had had to avoid and ignore a lot of content to achieve that - not least the corrupted and quite frankly cursed Electrike currently clogging up one of his team spots. The idea of some huge life-changing, game-changing event shaking up the place where he went for calming walks to feel free from the difficulties of the real world was... not appealing to him.
So he'd ignored it, as he did with most uncomfortable things in his life. He'd only skim-read the details, closed the pop-ups, turned off the notifications, and tried to move on as though the event wasn't happening. He still heard about it everywhere of course, still saw references to it, but once he'd told himself that he wasn't going to get involved with it, its mere existence didn't bother him. That just wasn't what he was here for after all.
But... a party? That was much more his style.
Or at least, he'd thought it was as he'd been approaching the place, accompanied by a handful of berries that he'd picked from Birchwild Grove (and possibly stolen from the Ribombee) as well as some apples that had been in his inventory for ages but that he couldn't actually remember picking up. The leaflet had said that snacks would be provided, but in the real world at least, it was polite to bring some of your own too, wasn't it? And he was imagining that this would be just like any other real world party.
It wasn't though. He only needed to step inside to see that. Besides the Pokemon everywhere (he'd expected that at least), there was a forge and a training dummy and people were practicing fighting moves and murmuring about weird strategies. Sure, the leaflet had said this was about the World Event too, but he'd thought that was like, the theme, you know? Like 'everyone come dressed as something from the 90s' sort of theme, not an actual battle prep party. He hadn't even realised those existed.
Placing the berries and apples down on a table at the side of the room (yes fruit was a dumb party snack in the real world but it had felt fitting for a Pokemon one), he lingered against the wall, picking up a drink for himself and wondering if he should just... leave. He did recognise a few people though, Laguna whose name had been on the initial leaflet, and orioncayge who seemed to be manning the forge. He hadn't seen either of them since the Silent Night quest, and both of them seemed very... invested in the party and its requirements already. He tried to catch their gaze, to nod in greeting to them both without drawing too much attention to himself in the process but urgh, maybe that was a bad idea if they were just going to drag him in deeper too.
He should have just left when he'd had the chance.

Eddie was running slightly behind. A certain bandanna cladded bro had bailed on work and he'd been left short handed. Well, bail was the wrong word, Orion was a bit of a stray who just showed up at the Pizzaria when his pockets were light or when he was asked, and for the first time in a hot minute he'd declined to help a cousin out.
Bastard.
As he approached the hotel he could see why though, eyes furrowing as he eyed the sign. Wasn't Plasma one of the bad teams from Black and White? But...Orion had said something about helping found it so maybe... he shook his head and let out a disgruntled sigh. Just when he thought he understood what was going on he got thrown curveballs left right and center. Leave it to this game to be anything but simple.
Entering he would take in the sights, a number of people had already arrived, most of which were all new faces to him save for some redheaded dude who both looked dashingly handsome and also reminded him of a vagrant he and Orion had tossed out of Gramp's Casino. There looked like a fight was brewing over by the refeshments, so giving that group a wide berth he dropped a couple boxed of freshly made Za off at the table and made his first stop.
"Ey cousin." Eddie offered a hand and he was greeted with the classic dap and shoulder clap as Orion pulled him into a slightly sweaty hug. "Some place you got here. Who's this Laguna broad?" He would waggle the leaflet. "You said you and Blue were hosting this party."
"Blue and Laguna are the same person." Orion replied with a snicker, stealing a slice of Za and eyeing the party to make sure that Slycer didn't start anything. The guy was a punk Creed Min Maxer who basically stood for everything he hated about how people treated UNOVR. "How was work?"
"Oh you know, just down Bret Farve during the super bowl." Eddie replied with a smirk.
"Why the fuck am I Bret Farve? I'm clearly Tom Brady, dawg." Orion replied slugging him on the shoulder. "And today was not the fucking Super bowl."
"Fine... we just got bumrushed by a bunch of orders right before close..." Eddie growled. "It's whatever, I could use a smoke but Im pretty sure you can't get those in a kids game so-" He grabbed a bottle that looked vaguely like beer, eyed it for a moment, then cracked it and popped a squat on the Anvil Orion had been working on moments ago. "Gimme the lowdown," he nodded vaguely to all of the people in the party.
"That's Blue," Orion would motion to the Sailor-Skirted hostess flitting from person to person. Eddie let out a shrill whistle and nodded with approval.
"Babe status dude." "That's my girlfriend dude." "Shit sorry, you right. Go on,"
Orion cracked open a cold one and joined Eddie on their iron perch, clinking drinks before they both took a sip in sync.
"That's Zac, bit of a goober, hard to get a read on him sometimes." "Does he look familiar to you?" "I feel like I've socked someone with his likeness once or twice in my lifetime..." "K, I was gettin some Deja Vu too."
Eddie noticed some of Orion's mon were out and decked out like they were about to go on a different type of raid. "Wassat about?" He asked, raising an eye as the Sneasel let out a cry and chopped a two liter filled with 7 Up in Half.
"Loki is just stoked for the raid." Orion replied nonchalantly. "No, I mean the fucking sick drip they've got." Eddie asked, leaning forward and looking his cousin over appraisingly. "Oh, that's a perk of the Ironsmith class." The fighter smirked. "Lets you forge gear for your guys, helps em take more hits and deal more damage." "Ayo, adding that on the to do list. Do you get to do the crafting minigames?" "Sure as shit, your score helps determing the quality of the gear too." "FUCK YEAH!"
Eddie pumped a fist, he fucking LOVED the crafting minigames.
"Did you equip your mon into trees yet?" Orion asked between sips. "Did I what now?" Eddie turned back and looked over his cousin. "Open your UI to your character sheet, you see those trees? Mon can be slapped down in three different classes. You've played enough WoW with me to know the gist of how it works, Sweepers bring the heat, Tanks kill the heat, Support heals the heat." "Oh shit, I should get on that..." Eddie murmured glancing over everything. "And this gardener class..." "Your base class, most of the base classes are all keyed to a type, give you cool drip, and sick buffs to mon with that type or moves of that type." "Got it..." Eddie frowned. "Probably gonna need to grind some bytes..."
"If you need help we can go train later." Orion offered, "But for now I'm gonna go pester a homie I haven't seen in a while and make sure he gets off the wall." With a clap of the shoulder, Orion rose to his feet and vanished into the growing crowd, heading over to the other side of the lobby.
"Aight, I'm gonna go pay my respects to your lady friend." Eddie nodded, finishing his beer and hooping it into a nearby trashcan with practiced ease. With his UI still opened he went ahead and maxed out his Gardener class and dropped a level in Kindler, seeing as he had only two mon at the moment it made sense to max those classes first, right?
With that taken care of, he made his way to the other host and offered a dramatic bow. "Lady Laguna," One hand would find itself behind his back, resting his knuckles right above his hips while the other swept across his chest. "I have heard many a tale of you and your brilliance and beauty from my boneheaded cousin, but never have I had the pleasure of meeting you." Righting himself he would shoot her a snarky smirk and offer a hand to shake. "Eddison Cayge, a pleasure to finally meet you Blue, have you been keeping that loveable moron out of trouble when I'm not around?"

He knew how much of a raid prepper Josh Devlin was, so he was rather surprised to notice that while (at the moment) his friend was online, the location was… nowhere hear where most everyone else who’d gotten those fliers was headed.
Sure, the fact that the meeting spot was at a place called ‘Hotel Plasma’ was more than enough to set off the alarm bells in his head, however he was accompanied by Hanzo the Greninja who was there to make sure nothing too stupid started happening because of the location of the meeting place where everyone was headed.
(Or, well, anyone reckless enough to go out near a place that was near a location where those strange ‘invasive species’ tended to fly over every so often.)
‘You’re tense,’ the Greninja would hum from nearby. ‘Something on your mind?’
“You… you could say that, yes,” he breathed out as he squared his shoulders. Sure, while he’d ran on home to ask Mom for some food that he could bring along to the little gathering, he knew that what he was carrying with him wasn’t going to be enough.
‘Is it about what’s looming on the horizon?’ the ninja Pokémon would probe further; hoping the other would give him an answer.
Instead, he would get a noncommittal grunt as the two approached the ‘rendezvous point’, the white-haired elfin’s arms loaded down with two boxes of snacks while the Greninja helped him cross the threshold. All too soon he would find himself in the gathering of—other players; most he didn’t recognize, but there were a few that particularly stood out—s
A certain greenette and a pinkette!
Who would he approach first, though? The first thing he would do though, was to drop off his two boxes of snacks at the food table and grab himself something to drink before wandering his way through the crowd. There were other players who were making some purchases; he was then reminded with a cringe of how… how ‘too well-rounded’ his build was.
Whose bright and stupid idea was it to spread all that money across all three skill trees? You should’ve picked just one to start with, and stuck with it! he thought to himself; a bout of indecision racking him. However, he knew that there was even less time to prepare for ‘manifest destiny’ that was apparently looming over the horizon, so once he’d found a quiet-enough corner, he would flick his own in-game menu open and pull up the Shop.
What to pick, what to pick—
He would hiss quietly because he knew he needed to get a certain skill at least two more times before he could consider himself fully-prepared.
At least he was content with his purchase for now.

Laguna would politely wave seeing familiar and friendly faces all the same, it was nice to see people getting together. Even if the topic of the future was a bit intense, the only path towards the future was the one where everyone worked together.
Getting people to befriend one another before it all, could only possibly have positive impacts.
She'd immediately wave seeing Nero arrive, happy to see the man here. She would have immediately gone over to approach him, or perhaps the Bayleef of Alicia Westfield's that was seeming to stare at her, if not for a strange man suddenly approaching her. She'd raise her eyebrows as soon as he called her "Lady Laguna," but hearing that it was Orion's Cousin immediately had her relaxing after a moment.
She was unaware that he played UNOVR! Must be a fairly new player, she imagined. What a weird time to suddenly be meeting the family. When it seemed like nobody except Orion used their real faces.
"Ahh, Well first off," She'd smirk right back, seeing his hand to shake. Instead, she casually slapped it with a laugh. "I get him into just as much trouble as he gets me into. Dancing all night across the dunes, chasing down Ultra Beasts and finding a massive broken sundial out there after they vanished? Felt trippy, that night. Diving deep into the depths of the harbor and chasing the professor into doors between dimensions? There's so many down there. We're both veterans here, back from the very start. So we've kind of been around a while, been on some wild quests. There's been a lot going on lately too, and-"
"Punch? Miss Laguna? Sir?" Suddenly, a Galarian Mr. Mime wearing a full suit, and an elegant bowler hat atop his head approached, gliding across the floor like one of those roller-skating waiters. He was carrying a small silver platter, with plastic cups of punch to those who looked like they needed it.
He was supposed to be relaxing, but it seemed he was quite content with this role. As if he always needed to have some job to do, although she supposed she couldn't blame him. He's been pretty nervous about being on the front lines for true combat, even if he didn't show it.
Laguna rolled her eyes, giving him a gentle smile as she reached over to take her cup and drink. "Thank you Mr. Business. This here is Eddie, Orion's cousin."
"Ahh, and do you also engage in the talented art of fisticuffs?" He'd make a dramatic motion, carefully balancing the platter on one of his hands as his other curled up in a fist, imitating a boxer for a second. "One of these days, I've been debating on asking him how to throw a solid knock out punch."
"Well?" She'd turn to look at Eddie. "Do you?" {CPR Points} Total: 3 BRING SNACKS AND HYDRATE BOND WITH YOUR POKEMON SHARE QUEST KNOWLEDGE WITH OTHERS

Alicia couldn’t help but sigh as she recognized a few others joining the Raid Prep party. Especially Shalin Nariya and… a new Ultra Beast to temporarily take the place of her missing Pheramosa. She was insane, Alicia decided. Completely and utterly insane to think riding a wing like that is anything other than terrifying. Hopping back off of Tikani, Alicia walked over, sighing softly. ”It’s all good.” She replied in short order. And then she displayed a… concerning technique. It was certainly effective, and it even reminded her of a creature from another game who could pulverize entire mountain ranges using a more sophisticated version. The unfortunate rock target was dusted in short order. ”Impressive… I can only hope our Hearteater is going to be Rock, Steel, Ice, or Normal type. And is not Ghost type.”Alicia then hummed softly, biting her lip. ”As much as I want to bring my own Ultra Beasts in, I’m not sure if I should. The message from Ash implied Hearteater has psychic control over the Ultra Beasts. I’m worried that they’ll be subverted out from under our control if we bring them too close…”Meanwhile, with Alicia off her back now, Tikani got back up. Looking over to Giyun, she smiled softly. ”Stay with Alicia, will you?””Uh… of course?” Giyun muttered under his breath. ”Of course I’d want to take care of the Boss. But where are you going?””I’m… hoping to satisfy a nagging question I have. I don’t really know how to explain it more. Just… that I think I learned something I wasn’t supposed to, way back when after Jarzick.” Tikani mused. ”… And you’re not asking the Boss because…?” Giyun led on in questioning. ”I… don’t know how I’m going to take what I hear. I don’t want to risk what I have with Alicia currently.” Tikani answered, walking away before Giyun could get another word in. The Duraludon just looked at the departing Bayleef in askance before heaving a sigh and lumbering over to join Alicia, Shalin, and Olivia. The Bayleef, meanwhile, had been forced to acknowledge that if she wanted to get her thoughts across, she couldn’t just stand by. Clearly Laguna noticed her. But her attention was quickly taken up by others who addressed her directly. Reaching a vine out, she tapped the blue-haired girl on the shoulder gently. If she remembered the rest of what Alicia told her correctly... ”Excuse me? Miss Laguna? Could I bother you for a moment in…” she paused and glanced around, smiling wryly. ”… well, not complete privacy, but relative at least?”There was a chance she couldn’t understand her. Tikani couldn’t recall if she’d met anyone who couldn’t or wouldn’t acknowledge her words, admittedly. But there was a chance. If that was in fact the case then… well she wouldn’t have any other choice but to retreat and continue mulling over the strange sounds she could hear around her trainer from time to time… ——————————————————————— {Party}Tikani (Bayleef) [3/3/4] Giyun (Duraludon) [3/3/4] Venex (Naganadel) [3/3/4] Sylvene (Pidgeot) [4/4/4] Rath (Growlithe) [4/4/4] Yuyan (Celesteela) [3/3/3] CPR Total: 3 Theorize about Hearteater +1

Olivia slowly calmed her squeaking wings once she had finished pulverizing the piece of stone before her, Shalin looking woozy from being shaken absurdly fast. "Oh... hey Alicia... at least I think that's you?" she waved, her cognizance certainly less than perfect. "But why else would the story put so much... emphasis on them? I think we should all... bring at least one," she huffed, Olivia gently turning toward Alicia and giving her a gentle pat on the shoulder with her proboscis if she allowed it. "I think they're going to be the key to the battle."
The more she thought about it, the more Shalin wanted to voice some of her own ideas. Eventually, once she had recovered enough of her senses, she slid off Olivia's wing and embraced the skittering bug before walking alongside Tikani. "You gonna say hello to any of the others, Alicia?" she tried to invite the shy Gardener toward the drink line. All that buzzing around made her thirsty!

”Hmm…” Alicia mused. Shalin did have a point. ”Let’s hold off on deploying our Ultra Beasts at the start then. Or at least keeping them at a distance at the start. If we’re being nudged insistently on their importance, I want to believe that there will be a chance to break that control.”Unprompted, another Pokeball burst open. Venex appeared as the light dimmed, and the Naganadel fluttered softly there. ”We will… stand… as one. For all… have reason… to be here!” Alicia’s dragon-bee rasped out, working what knowledge of English Alicia had imparted to him to the best of his ability. ”True that…” Alicia replied, raising a hand up to pet the Naganadel. But when Shalin mentioned greeting others, she cringed. ”I… don’t do well in larger groups. Especially with the likes of that Slycer1 fellow around. I don’t see him at the moment, but he’s this real tryhard privileged numbskull…”The pinkette sighed deeply at that, shaking her head. ——————————————————————— {Party}Tikani (Bayleef) [3/3/4] Giyun (Duraludon) [3/3/4] Venex (Naganadel) [3/3/4] Sylvene (Pidgeot) [4/4/4] Rath (Growlithe) [4/4/4] Yuyan (Celesteela) [3/3/3] CPR Total: 3

Huh. That was odd.
He’d sent Josh Devlin a message about there being some kind of ‘raid prep’ gathering somewhere in Ostellia but for some strange, unknown reason he wasn’t… getting an answer.
Despite the kid being online? Huh. That was… absolutely strange. (Not to mention rather out of character for the literal kid, at that.)
He’d also gone back home, and was now carrying several boxes full of… yeah, due to certain things happening in his Mom encounter he now had a hilariously French maman who literally piled him with all kinds of pastries as well as vegetarian food options to bring to this group gathering ([tangent=because we have to be inclusive!]‘parce que nous devons être inclusifs!’[/tangent] he remembered her saying).
Unsurprisingly, Muninn the Murkrow was flying not too far behind him.
‘Funny you’re headed to this. Aren’t you like, you know… ready for what’s coming?’
“Not ready enough,” he would reply back in that same unnerving, quiet tone he adopted when he was being unnaturally serious.
‘Considering what you told me? I thought you were!’
“Not enough time to prepare,” was all he would reply to the corvid Pokémon, who would squawk and point in the direction of—
He’d arrived right at the end of—holy shit who owned that purple thing with the stinger right in its ass—before dropping off the boxes of pastries and alternative healthy food options before swiping himself a… wait, they had canned coffee here?
He felt his blood recoil at the thought. It was always freshly-pressed espresso from the nearest café or whatever coffee shop he ended up in (which was unsurprisingly Starbucks for the past ten or so years he’d been here in the States) and not the canned option…
[tangent=“Spare me,”]“Risparmiami,”[/tangent] he mumbled in Italian as he pulled the ring of the canned coffee open with a single finger and then took a sip—
And immediately recoiled.
What the fuck was this?! A blasphemy to all freshly-brewed, roasted coffee everywhere!
Resisting the urge to spit out what he just drank, he would walk over to where the pinkette was, before catching her attention with a tilt of his head.
“Is that… please don’t tell me they’re yours,” he would begin, hand still holding the can of absolutely… revolting coffee.
Since he was pretty confident he had a reasonable investment in the Tank class, he would then lay the offer to anyone on the table.
“If there’s like, anyone looking for a Tank to buddy up with. Well, I’m available.”
He would then preoccupy himself by flicking the ‘Shop’ menu open and making a purchase to further bolster his survivability on the field. Honestly, it felt like slipping on a favorite pair of gloves once again, the way his preferred playstyle from the EU side was emerging over here.

Orion watched Eddie from the corner of one eye, and the rest of the party out of his other corner, head on a swivel. He really wanted this to go well, both for the sake of the raid, and also for Laguna as well. She'd been super excited when pitching him the idea, and honestly he was stoked as fuck, but as of late he KNEW she'd been going through it with the loss of her mon. He'd felt the same way, and the fact that he wasn't suiting up Gil with armor right now made his heart ache, whatever this hearteater was, it was certainly effective at it.
Breaking hearts and all that.
But he had to banish that ache, that sadness, there was no time for that right now. It was a party, and he was fighting for their right to enjoy it. His gaze settled upon Nero , locking eyes with him declaring his intent to talk long before he weaved he way through the crowd. When he arrived he clapped the man on the shoulder, a beaming smile on his face.
"Yo!" He exclaimed, giving the man a light shake. "Good to see you again bud. Last time we were chillin kinda went sideways, how've you been man? You get anything to eat or drink yet?" He'd motion to the table with one hand, the other fetching another plundered beer from his UI, he'd figured he's stock up on three "alcoholic" drinks to get a light buzz, but not enough to fuck him up, cracking it open he'd join his friend in leaning on the wall.
"You ready for this? What do you think the boss is gonna be? Blue's pretty sure it's a Necrozma, which kinda makes sense given like the sundial being like maybe Solgaleos dead shrine, but I don't think I saw anything moon based running around unless it's IN the ocean, ya know? Did you do any of the quests by the way? Cause they're super interesting, totally worth the time investment. The Doortals one was a trip that Bee and I did and I got to see all sorts of neat stuff, but I think that's where all of the Ultra beasts are coming from, those things go EVERYWHERE my man."
Whilst Orion was chewing the wallflowers ear off, his mon were plotting their plan of attack.
"Alright listen up," Achilles growled, arms crossed over his chest while Arachnae and Loki looked up at him from their seated positions. "So far as I know, we're the only ones the Boss has hard locked in on the roster."
"SCORE!" Loki cheered "Horaaay!" Arachnae exlaimed, her limbs covered in small metal plating to protect her joints.
"That being said, I will be doing my best to reduce any damage that comes your way, so will the master as far as I am aware." The large cat boomed, tail swishing lightly as he spoke. "So given all of that information, I would like to practice with you two on getting the fuck out of the way of danger."
"Like how?" Arachnae asked, squinting slightly as Achilles swore. "And papa said we shouldn't use those nono words, do as he says not how he does." "You are such a goody two shoes." Loki quipped. "But I am curious how you expect us to handle that..."
"Allow me to demonstrate. If somehow you end up between the Danger and I, I will do something like this." Without warning he scooped both of them up and rolled them over his shoulder, turning his back into some sort of flintstonian slide as they tumbled to the ground roughly.
"HOLY FUCK DUDE A LITTLE WARNING" Loki hissed. "WEEEEE" Arachnae giggled as she righter herself. "AGAIN AGAIN!" "We will practice this until the two of you can land gracefully on your feet and run." The cat hissed. "Be ready, this is going to be a long training session if you don't get your shit together." CPR:6 Theorized about the raid Shared quest info Developed a new technique "Hydrated" in the Eddie post.
