The vine tapping at her shoulder had her caught off guard, but turning around to see the Bayleef immediately had her attention. Their words, however, seemed to imply some kind of tension. Relative privacy? Confused, and yet intrigued, she'd swiftly give eddiecayge a polite smile.
"I'll be seeing you around man, gotta mingle. Give this to Orion for me." Of course, she didn't actually have anything to give him. She'd just swiftly reach up and give him a solid thump on the shoulder, a powerful punch stronger than she looks, before just laughing immediately.
Mr. Business politely bowed, excusing himself to slip away for the time being, to offer a few other individuals drinks.
"Come on, over here." She'd finally respond to the Bayleef, giving them that same gentle smile. She'd lead them over behind the car stereo speakers blasting music, hoping that it made it harder for them to be overheard.
Once settled, Laguna would casually sit back onto a few milk crates. It only felt right to be at the same eye-level as the Pokemon, when they were having a conversation. No reason to force them to look up, and for her to look down at them.
No, they were equals here.
"So, is everything okay? I presume not, since you're coming to talk to me in private. But, what can I do for you? I'm sorry, I don't remember your name. The pinkette was huffing softly to herself, until she noticed another person approaching her. âOh geezeâŚâ she muttered to herself, flicking through menus. She needed to push her damage as high as she could⌠While she couldnât decide which class she wanted to focus on, she did want to tier up her Sweeper Tree. So she flicked through the windows necessary to acquire the final rank in attack power. Now if she could just max the other two⌠And then Alkaid asked about Venex. âYes, Venex is with me. Will that be a problem?â Alicia asked. After his declaration⌠how could she deny him a spot in her squad? He has as much a stake in this as she did, it seemed. So despite her concerns⌠she would bring the dragon-bee. Alkaid mentioned offering Tank support âIâll take you up on that if you donât mind.â the aspiring hero chimed. âMy own tanks are decently invested as well, so I have some ability to protect myself. Same with my Supports. But theyâve fallen behind my Sweeper tree, and Iâm planning on getting right into the thick of it. The more people keeping my back covered, the harder I can afford to focus on hitting the enemy.âMeanwhile, Tikani smiled softly to Laguna as the sailor-fuku-clad girl agreed to secret away for a bit. Once they were off to the side, and Laguna got herself sat down, the Bayleef would follow suit in laying down to settle in for the moment. âIâm not surprised. I donât think weâve been properly introduced. My nameâs Tikani and, yes, Aliciaâs my partner.âPerhaps Tikaniâs choice of terminology would intrigue Laguna, given she was one of the founding members of the new Plasma. The Bayleef didnât let it get to her though. Alicia always called her a partner and friend. Called everyone she brought with her friends, team mates. Seeing them equally. Even though Tikani was beginning to suspect that wasnât really the case⌠Because⌠âI⌠needed someone I didnât know very well to talk to. Someone who wouldnât have any reason to sugar coat something. And that would be in a position to maybe get what Iâm saying. Iâm⌠hoping youâre one of those people.â the Bayleef began. âI think⌠I learned something I wasnât supposed to. I was⌠dead⌠for a time. I didnât realize it right away though. Barely aware, floating somewhere⌠wondering where everyone else was. Why I wasnât there with them anymore. Until I heard Aliciaâs voice⌠faintly⌠but then more and more. And she was arguing with herself? I canât remember a lot of what happened.âThe Bayleef grimaced, casting her gaze over to where Alicia was talking to Alkaid . âI heard her call herself by another name too. And after a bit longer, I was⌠back I guess. But ever since then, I started hearing odd things. Little⌠âdingsâ and other alarms. Starting to see Alicia interacting with⌠something I couldnât see, as if pushing things in the air. And then I saw her-â the leaf dinosaur paused to indicate Shalin Nariya , â⌠basically disintegrate into white particles. And Alicia almost brushed it off after pushing her fingers on the air again. But now sheâs around again like nothing happenedâŚâTikani looked down to the floor at that, obviously troubled. âA-Am I making any sense? I feel like Iâm going insane. Like⌠Iâm seeing something about this world that⌠nobody else is acknowledging. Aware of maybe, but not calling any attention to. And just⌠brushing such a blatant death off. Acting like the miraculous revival is just a footnote. âOops, she died, well better luck next timeââŚâThe more the Bayleef spoke, the more distant her expression became. A bona-fide thousand yard stare at nothingness. It was beyond apparent that sheâd been bottling this up for some time. And doing it well it seemed, as Alicia hadnât even so much as casted a glance to find her. The pinkette was clearly confident that Tikani was okay. Unaware of just how much mental turmoil her first friend was enduring⌠âââââââââââââââââââââââ Tikani (Bayleef) [3/3/4] Giyun (Duraludon) [3/3/4] Venex (Naganadel) [3/3/4] Sylvene (Pidgeot) [4/5/4] Rath (Growlithe) [4/5/4] Yuyan (Celesteela) [3/3/3] CPR Total: 5 Purchase an Upgrade: +1 (Sweeper Attack Tier 5) Learn Anotherâs Combat Capabilities + 1

Laguna had waved to him initially, and Nero had smiled briefly, calmed momentarily by the thought of having company in this strange environment. It didn't last long though as she was soon distracted by someone else approaching her, and Nero was left to slump back against the wall he was currently hiding beside, sipping his drink and trying to ignore the familiar awkwardness of standing alone at an old high school party...
His gaze swept the floor for a moment, landing back on orioncayge who was now approaching him, causing Nero to stand up a little straighter again in anticipation. The smile he returned was not half as wide as the other man's but it was still genuine as he felt his body being shaken in what he assumed was a friendly greeting. "Yeah," he replied, not really sure how to acknowledge the whole 'Silent Night' situation. Orion seemed like a seasoned pro at this game so maybe he'd had experiences like that before, too many to count even, so it hadn't left much of an impact on him. For Nero it had been very confusing, and possibly part of the reason why he was so hesitant to join in with this new quest as well.
But hey, he'd gotten some good loot out of it at least. Speaking of which, everyone else seemed to have their Pokemon out, and yet Nero's all remained in their Pokeballs. Maybe that was why he was feeling awkward when no-one else was. Considering how large and feisty some of his were, getting them all out at once didn't seem like a good idea, but as he answered Orion's introductory question, he at least let his Quilava out to stand beside him. His starter was trustworthy enough, even in an environment like this one. "Yeah, fine, just... chilling." He lifted the cup in his hand to show that he had his drink already, and tucked the Pokeball away as Quill stood up on his hind legs to survey the room.
"You ready for this?"
Well this was awkward. He hadn't decided yet if he was going to lie about joining in or if he was going to admit he was just here for the party... Thankfully, Orion followed that question up with enough others that Nero could at least ignore that choice for now. "Yeah, a couple. The Door one, yeah. And the sundial. There was a weird parade with that one, right? Some of those were Ultra Beasts but I think there were some other things in there too. Dunno what, but the Doors led to some weird places too so maybe it was like, a crossover with another game or something?" The only reason he knew much about the Ultra Beasts was from the parade that had led to that one after all. He hadn't interacted with any more directly than that, nor had he attempted to catch one either, but he had observed them a lot. He was sure there had been a lot more to learn about them than he and Josh Devlin had discovered during the quest, but Nero himself had not had the time to spare to dive in any deeper. His demands in the real world had been higher recently thanks to him finally agreeing to take physical therapy seriosuly, and his doctors were hardly going to let him skip appointments so that he could learn more about a video game.
"You don't think its going to be something heart-related then?" he asked as he dwelt on the idea of this big bad being a Necrozma. It would certainly make sense with the Ultra Beasts around. "Hearteater sounds like a nickname for a ghost type to me." So what would that be then, Giratina? Hoopa maybe? Necrozma still seemed like it fit better than that though, so he shrugged and added, "But I dunno, there's so much going on, it's a lot to follow." He was never going to admit how overwhelmed he was actually feeling, but hopefully this was at least a hint towards it. Would Orion judge him for struggling to keep up though? After all, why was he here if he didn't even fully understand the basics of what was going on?

Oh here we go again.
He supposed it was inevitable, after all he'd chosen a sleek and handsome man to be his stand in for this psuedo reality. Or course they'd look at him, then Orion, and draw the conclusion that the ancient art of fisticuffs was a family vocation. Okay, it sorta was, but not at the level that Orion took it to. They'd all learned how to fight at the behest of Uncle Troy and Tio Gio, something that had been incredibly useful for buying enough time in an asskicking for backup to show up but...well, Eddie was not a fighter.
"Ah..." one hand shot to the back of his head and scratched it idly. "Not like Rion, no." A soft blush tinged his cheeks. "But to be fair I don't think I've ever met anyone who could fight quite like that man. It's like he's possessed by an ancient wuxia warlord or something. Cultivating his Ki so he can avenge his fallen shifu or some shit." More like avenging dead family members, but Eddie wasn't sure exactly what Blue knew, and he wasn't about to drop the mom bomb on her unprompted, and certainly not at a party.
"But..." He'd turn to the Galarian mon and raise a brow. "If you wanted I bet we could ask him to share his wisdom with us together and we can form the Cayge Clan of Kicking Keister, sound like a plan?" Then the other leafy mon poked in and swiped his dance partner, leaving him with a sore shoulder and his metaphorical dick in his hands.
FUCK.
He'd swoop through the snack table and grab a hotdog, dress it up, and quietly chow down as his gaze flit around. This was difficult, his whole life had been spent socializing with his family and the people of Southside. He'd figured them all out years ago, but here? He was the new kid on the anime colored hair block, and things were twice as daunting considering everyone was unnaturally attractive. IF only there was like a cool animal he could interact with instead of peopl-
Oh, duh.
With a flash of Red he'd summon Darby the Growlithe and Carver the Sprigatito. "Hey guys, welcome to the party."
"Oh boy! Party time!" Daby barked excitedly. "Don't tell me you struck out with the ladies so now you've brought out the cute cannons." Carver purred, stretching his front paws.
"Hey now!" Eddie complained, raising his hands defensively. "I'll have you know this is a party to get ready for some sort of raid, so of course I gotta whip you two out so we can work out like...a gameplan or something."
"Uh huh..." Carver quipped looking up at Eddie. "Sure thing boss, sounds like a rip roarin plan." "That does sound like a great plan!" Darby panted, tail wagging a thousand miles a minute. "That looks like one of Orion's mon over there!" He pointed his snout over yonder prompting Eddies gaze to follow instinctually.
"Oh yeah, that's Achilles and uh...I think Loki and Arachnae?" He furrowed his brow, Orion had a weird naming scheme.
"We should go train with them!" Darby yapped. "We should toooootally go train with them." Carver droned, rolling his eyes.
"Sounds like a plan to me, no?" Eddie downed his dog and washed it away with another beer. "Common, gotta get ready for this hearteater noise." CPR: 5 "Hydrating" Bonding with his Mon.

He would the flick his menu open with a very typical gesture (for someone of his heritage, obviously it was way too easy to catch onto it) and then began picking through the options he could see.
âOh, you went focus Sweeper?â he would blink in the pinketteâs direction. âNot only almost full-invested Sweeper, you also have levels in both Tank and Support, thoughâŚâ he would trail off, lost in thought for a few moments.
(Oh, the curse of being a former guild leader in the European servers was coming back to hauntâor maybe guideâhim out here, too?)
âI know itâs rich of me to offer advice regarding your skill trees, butâhave you thought of fully maxing out Sweeper? Like, temporarily take back some of the other stuff you invested in, putting it all in Sweeper, and then reverting it back once whateverâs on the horizonâs one and done with? Well, just like a temporary power boost or something.â
He knew he was some distance away from getting max tiers unlocked in Tank, but at least it was a goal he had in mind. Albeit, he knew he was falling back into the former habit of unlocking a favored skill tree even though this was a completely different server, stillâhe couldnât help himself.
The Murkrow had inevitably settled on his head and made themselves comfortable, before gently pulling at some of his hair.
âOw, heyâMuninn, what do you want?â
âJust making myself comfortable, is all.â
âBy pulling my hair?â
âIdiot. Let me tell you something about my speciesâwhen we like something, we tend to nest. And since I am nesting in your hair now, what do you thinkââ
The belated realization then hit him.
âOh, alright. Just⌠donât, you know, fuck my hair up or something.â
âFine.â
The guttural squawking would quiet down as the corvid PokĂŠmon would settle for a nap in his newfound ânestâ, never mind if he had to be a lot more careful now when it came to moving around and such.
(He still had to get rid of the revolting canned coffee though.)
âWell,â he would continue as he returned his attention to the pinkette, ââŚraid buddy then?â he would all but confirm at that point.

Alicia nodded to that. âIâm⌠considering it. I donât think I have the luxury of having multiple classes developed. At the same time⌠I donât want to refund Tank since that would likely require me benching some of my longest running companions. Along with my Ultra Beasts. Shalin has a point in that we should try to use our Ultra Beasts in this. They have a stake in all of this too from the sound of Professor Ashâs message. If I canât get what I absolutely need in time, though, Iâm going to seriously consider respecing.âShaking her head a bit though, she glanced over to where the training dummy depicting Necrozma. âI was looking up some lore elsewhere for post-Unova Legendaries⌠and I remember from Sector Jarzick a mention of Darkness. Which⌠makes me wonder if the Necrozma dummy set up here is someone chasing a red herring. Everything about Necrozma focuses on it attaining and becoming Light, but it only seems to directly prey upon two Pokemon in particular. Solgaleo and Lunala. The mention of Darkness⌠and the fact that Ultra Beasts likely under Hearteaterâs control are taking every Pokemon they can. And those Nihilego me and Josh saw looking bloated on energy in general rather than specifically light⌠I wonder if weâre looking at an emergence by Eternatus from Galar instead. The event associated with Eternatus is âThe Darkest DayââŚâThat all said, it wouldnât change her thought regarding partnering up. The Murkrowâs nonsense made her smile though. She patiently waited for Alkaid and Muninn to finish their little debacle. âRaid Buddies.â she would confirm once Alkaid asked. âBut we should definitely find a third whoâs Support oriented. I feel like we should move in trios if we can. That way we can have little independent cells that can each cover each other. Then those cells can support each other in need. Shalin overheard orioncayge mention the Doortals, speaking up to the Plasma member. "I wish I could have gone, but I couldn't fit Swimmer into my build. I only just got the cash to master Beta Tester so I can concurrently equip a class," she explained. "I heard from Josh Devlin that you can get to any map in UNOVR through the Doortals. There was even a whole dungeon down there, from what he told me!"
The conversation drifted to the identity of the raid boss. "He and I both think it's Necrozma, too," she added. "It makes too much sense, given what we've already all dealt with over there. All these Ultra Beasts that we lose control of outside a post-apocalyptic Ostellia. And I swear, if the raid drops Necrozma DNA, that speed demon is going to have a field day. Sometimes, he scares me."
Perhaps Alicia Westfield was listening, too, and would listen to her now that she wasn't sitting on Olivia's wing any longer. "I know it's a pain in the butt, but on the topic of the Ultra Beasts, spend some time with them in Refresh. There's all kinds of mini-games you can play with them. I'm going to be taking Olivia back there and working on being able to withstand her wings at higher frequencies. Maybe see if I can get Catcher unlocked and raised, too. I've got a lot of bug PokĂŠmon, which would be very good to use against Necrozma."
Shalin grimaced at the mention of the Darkest Day. "Don't say that... Necrozma is bad enough..." She looked frightened at the skeletal dragon's very name, a PokĂŠmon too big for even her to want to mount. "Anyway, the last time I saw Josh was at the Midas Corp building. Have any of you seen him since then? I've tried messaging him and can't get ahold of him, even though it says he's online and not idle."
Just as the Beta Tester turned around to converse with Alkaid , she was greeted with a fanfare that anyone on her friends list may have been able to hear, as well. It came with a UI message that turned her frown upside down.

"I don't know any legendary heart pokemon," Orion shrugged, parrying Nero 's question with a light amount of ignorance and indifference. "Hell, I kinda only tangentially know the story of like, Black and White, never played em. Gave X and Y a shake, hopped back on for Sun and Moon but didn't finish a playthrough..." he drawled. "So I'm like, fifty fifty on whether I know anything about any weird legendaries or their variants therof. To be fair I was kinda caught off guard when we opened Asper with the birds, and I haven't really SEEN a shrine other than what I think is the sundial..."
He'd sip his drink and then cock his head to the side when Shalin Nariya interjected, motioning for Nero to follow him as he joined the small group that was forming. Crossing his arms over his chest he'd ponder.
"I happen to know that this hearteater is for sure controlling the UB's though, I did a special event quest with professor Ashe and a Nihelago spoke to us through her, explained that some sort of voice was controlling them. Whatever the hearteater is, I think it has some sort of hold on the Ultra Boys, it might even cause some problems if we take any to the raid, but that's all strictly conjecture."
He'd pause for a moment and then tap his chin. "By the way, Nero this is Shalin, Shalin this is Nero. I met Shalin painting one day, and Nero and I first met during a pretty cool little encounter with a wish eating whale." His gaze shot across the room to where Eddie and his mon seemed to be doing some sort of drill, and a quick glance assured him that Laguna was off in a corner talking to a...bayleef.
Totally normal stuff, honestly.
"In case yall we're wondering, I'm probably going to go full send as the CEO of big Tanking, call my John Panzer cause I'm gonna be going Abrams on whatever this motherfucker is." He took a sip of his drink and snickered slightly. "For anyone who might not actually know me, I'm Orion and I've been doing this for a while so whatever comes our way I'm gonna stand in the front and eat most of the L's so you guys can take care of business." He'd clap both Nero and Shalin on the shoulder before letting out a light sigh.
"However, if you need me I must excuse myself so I can go pester by battle buddy and..." a light tinge of red spread across his cheeks. "Get raid ready and all of that good stuff." He half mumbled as he quickly excused himself. Opening his UI he would shoot Laguna a quick message.
Fuckin smooth.

When Shalin Nariya included herself in his conversation with orioncayge , Nero's lips pressed shut again, his shoulders gradually dropping back against the wall once more. It was a party, it was perfectly normal to butt in to the conversations around you if you had something to add. That was how you met people at this sort of event so Nero didn't begrudge her for that. At the same time though, she seemed to know so much, and Nero was finding himself feeling more and more out of place here with every word she spoke. He really shouldn't have come. He was just embarrassing himself. This was stupid.
Perhaps the game somehow new how to read his actions (or perhaps his gaze had jumped to the 'log off' button one too many times), because a moment later there was a noise like a crackling fire beside him, and his Quilava was on its back feet again, leaning against his leg and nuzzling him for comofrt. Nero's hand dropped down to pet Quill's head, pleased to have his companion here who seemed to understand his discomfort. Alright, yeah, he could stay. No big deal. It was just one new person, and he even had an in to the conversation with her too. "Yeah, I was there with Josh," he replied, the words feeling awkward and stilted on his tongue like he'd suddenly forgotten how to speak. "The err, dungeon was in like... an underwater city? He said something about the doors connecting different patches of water around the map but then some of them seemed like places not on the map, so..." Urgh, what was he even talking about? Was that supposed to be helfpul?
At least his conversation with Orion felt natural, it was so much easier talking to people he already knew. Hell, it shouldn't have been a surprise how much his social skills were declining with his new life being bed bound, but at least it only seemed to be affecting him with new people... for now anyway. He had only barely followed Orion, hoping the man would see his hesitance as a sign that he really didn't want to join this forming group, but Orion didn't seem to notice, leaving Nero stood a few paces away from the rest of them and craving the comfort of the wall he had left behind.
Orion had gone to the effort of introducing him though, so he nodded a greeting at Shalin and tried his best to engage. As long as he had an ally by his side, this was fine, right? He sucked in as subtle of a deep breath as he could manage and mumbled, "Necrozma then," in agreement with the others' theories. It made the most sense, their arguments held up. Not much of a contribution from his side, but just trying to engage was a big deal for him right now.
He honestly had no idea what Orion was saying when he started talking about... maybe battle strategy? His combat capabilities? Half the words went over his head, but he got the gist of it - Orion would be on the front line taking blows. He was a tank, someone who could soak up hits to protect others like a shield. Good for him, but if that was the part of the conversation they were on then maybe Nero's time was nearly up here. After all, that was the exact conversation he had been trying to avoid so far.
But then Orion said he was leaving and Nero's eyes widened in something akin to fright. Fuck, fuck! "Orion, don-" But it was too late, the other player had already marched off, leaving Nero surrounded by strangers talking about an event he knew nothing about.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!
He almost just logged off. He hovered over the button for far too long, the idea of just blipping out of existence and all too tempting one right now. He glanced around desperately for Laguna in case perhaps he could run to chat with her now instead but no, she looked busy too. FuckfuckfuckFUCK! This was why he HATED multiplayer games!
Not wanting to draw too much attention to himself by logging off too suddenly, he instead tried to slowly slink backwards, away towards his wall and then maybe a corner, and perhaps he could just disappear without anyone noticing him then...

Alicia nodded, hugging Venex. âYeah⌠Iâve spent so much time working with this big lug. After whatâs been going on with what he said⌠how could I leave him out of things now?â she mentioned to Shalin Nariya . Who appeared to not notice that the Naganadel had spoken in English, unlike all the other Ultra Beasts. Broken and accented English, certainly, but still English. She still worried that Necrozma was a bit of a red herring. When it came to Legendary Pokemon, psionic ability did not necessitate the Psychic Typing. While requiring TMs, Eternatus could learn a number of Psychic moves as well. And then there was an outlier that recently came to mind when it came to harvesting energy from other Pokemon. Yveltal, the Bird of Death and Decay. While a bit out of place, as its major âconsume energy from lifeâ lore required its own death, it did have the distinction of having a Flying type move that drained the targetâs HP. That was trait that was most commonly found in Grass type attacks, with Bug and Psychic being. Digging deeper into the Dark/Flying typeâs inspirations showed that one of its sources was the Norse corpse-eating bird HrĂŚsvelgr⌠If anything could be a literal âHearteaterâ, that would be it. All three potential legendaries she could think of were cataclysmic in their own ways. But Yveltal would be the most troublesome to deal with, so Alicia feverishly hoped that her outlier thought was wrong. So much so she dared not voice the thought for fear of giving it more strength. Necrozma and Eternatus you could just whale on over and over until they finally buckled under your tenacity. Yveltal could kill you in return in a âtaking you all with meâ move. The Bird of Death would require alternative means to subdue. That was when orioncayge arrived with Nero in tow. The former was certainly boisterous and definitely confident. She initially had some concerns about the boasting, discreetly flicking through options to basically scan the Bandana Guy. Her concerns were immediately dispelled. Fully maxed out Tank and Sweeper trees, nearly maxed Support tree, and three maxed out classes. Which were probably equipped simultaneously because of tha- COUPLE!?Aliciaâs brain just⌠screeched to a halt there. Someone actually⌠with another⌠in the game!? Why!? She had written the class off herself because she didnât think it realistic but⌠apparently not!? By the time her brain rebooted, Orion was taking his leave. Dang it, she wanted to ask- well she had enough info to send him a DM. More importantly, Nero was⌠sinking back. Fellow loner? ⌠In a moment of uncharacteristic initiative, the pinkette locked on and strode forward, grasping the fancily dressed young man by the arm gently. âHey now. Donât go slinking into the shadows on us, alright? I get it. Itâs scary being stuck with so many people you donât knowâŚâGently, she would tug on his arm, trying to encourage him to return to the group. But she made sure her grip was light enough that he could pull away if he really wanted to. Meanwhile, she also had a DM to compose. DIRECT MESSAGE> Hello Orion! Itâs Alicia, you were just chattering at the group I was in a few seconds ago. Sorry for the cold feet stopping me from asking before you left but⌠would you mind if I borrowed your forge later in the party? I have some material I might be able to make use of, and am planning on respecing into either Freezer or Ironsmith for the raid. If I do the latter, Iâll need to do some forging last second. With that done, she fired the message off. And once the deal with Nero was resolved, she would clear her throat. âWell, I donât know about the rest of you guys, but I want to get an idea of how hard my friends can hit, since weâve got quite the capable tanks around so far. Rath? Want to show off a bit?âHer question was directed to the Growlithe she had just sent out, recalling Venex in order to make room for the pup. âYeah! Letâs turn up the heat!âAlicia nodded, directing the pup to the training dummy Laguna had set up at the start. âRight. Give us a Flamethrower!â she ordered. Turning to the others, she hummed. âThis will be a Recoiled attack, but otherwise this is all on Rathâs stats with no bonus from myself or via Z-Power.âRath howled loudly to garner more attention before lining up his shot. Taking a breath, the pup unleashed a torrent of flame to envelop the training dummy. Which put up a decent amount of damage for having no bonuses beyond his Rarity and Aliciaâs use of Recoil. The pinkette did still cringe at the double damage taken. That was going to wipe her out quickly. âAnd this is why we need Supports as well as Tanks keeping us Sweepers healthy.â Alicia mused. âNot too shabby, yeah?ââââââââââââââââââââââââ Rath (Growlithe) - SWEEPER - 180/300 Link to Roll: Here Core Ability: Recoil Action: Attack With Flamethrower Battle Log: - Took 120 DMG from Strain/Damage - Inflicted 260 DMG ([70 Roll + 10 x 6 Rarity] x 2) Tikani (Bayleef) [3/3/4] Giyun (Duraludon) [3/3/4] Venex (Naganadel) [3/3/4] Sylvene (Pidgeot) [4/4/4] Rath (Growlithe) [4/4/4] Yuyan (Celesteela) [3/3/3] CPR Total: 10 Learn Anotherâs Combat Ability +1

Laguna was quiet as she listened to the PokĂŠmon, her expression softening almost immediately as soon as she realized what the conversation was about.
They were noticing things not make sense.
She figured that some PokĂŠmon would recognize some of the strange circumstances, but that didn't mean they'd ever find any answers they could understand. Their... programming, would never allow them to understand that they were within a virtual world, a "game" for all that meant.
If only she had something she could say to put these fears at ease.
She'd purse her lips, only to slowly let out a long sigh and finally speak up. "I'm sorry, Tikani. I understand that this all must be so confusing. These things that Trainers can do, they defy logic. There is no rhyme nor reason to what we can do. We can teleport places, a "fast travel" you'll hear it called. We can increase our strength, and your own, with a flick of our wrist by spending money. We can message people without a phone, or anything. You're not insane."
She'd slowly flick her own wrist, small snowflakes forming in her palm, twisting and twirling until they melted into the warm air.
"Tikani, this world is full of so many unknown things, that we as Trainers, tend to take for granted. They are normal to us, for reasons that I can never put into words. We are victims of a cruel fate, in where the truth is even more bizarre than how it sounds. We got magical powers, we can swim beneath waves without ever drowning, and we can share our blessings with our Pokemon."
Her eyes would glance across the room to Mr. Business, the gentlemanly Mr. Mime skating across the room with ease, as he picked up another tray of drinks.
"You're not insane, in fact, dare I say, I think you're saner than most. But sanity, comes understanding. And that's hard. Because even should I tell you the truth, you won't understand. Just as Professor Ash could not. But, despite all that, I don't tell you any of this to worry you."
"I want to encourage you." Laguna was gentle, slowly standing up to her feet and reaching a hand out to gently rest her palm against their head, should they allow it. "We can do seemingly impossible things, but we also carry our friends with us on our impossible journeys. You know your trainer better than I do, you know how they are. I've only ever interacted with Alicia for such a short time. The truth is, all that truly matters in this world, the only reality that matters, is your bond. Love. I-"
Her expression slowly twisted into a sad expression, memories of her own popping into her head.
She really wished Glacia had been here for this conversation.
Wiping her eyes for a second, she'd speak again. "Sorry. I can't answer your questions, but I can tell you what is real. Your emotions, your heart, your soul. Never allow anyone to ever tell you otherwise. Just, talk to her. Even if you don't understand, even if they say and do things you can't fathom, just... Do whatever you think is right, and everything else will always fall into pieces."
Ding.
"... And if you would believe it, I just received a message myself." She'd chuckle ever so quietly, wiping her eyes again before stepping back to check it. Once again doing that familiar motion to open her messages, interacting with her UI.
"My boyfriend is trying to summon me, it seems." She'd give them a sympathetic smile, stretching for a moment. "I need to go, we're preparing for the fight ahead. But, please don't ever hesitate to come to me to talk, alright? If you need someone else to talk to, don't hesitate to talk to my Pokemon. They're all around the room. I am sure they've noticed many of the same things as you, and they all have their own thoughts."
With a polite smile, she'd have to get up and slip away.
She could only hope Tikani would find an answer that they could live with.
Laguna would make her way over towards the pool, only to stop along the way. She realized she never told Orion she was finally heading that way. She swiftly made a pitstop next to one of the newest additions to her party, a small robotic-like Pokemon, currently in the middle of staring at itself in a broken mirror.
"Yo! 05W4lD!" She called out the PokĂŠmon's name, and suddenly the Iron Bundle twisted its head 180 degrees to look at her. It's eyes blinked, the lights fading and returning to mimic the action. "Can you get Orion's attention for me?"
"Affirmative." They didn't hesitate even for a second, suddenly twisting around and grabbing the metallic bag, or perhaps more accurately their weapon. A bright light suddenly charged, glowing, when all of a sudden nearly a dozen snowballs would launch from them, like a rapid fire machinegun of snowball destruction. Harmless, but no doubt perfect to get his attention as it would hopefully slam straight into him.
"Hell yeah." She'd hold out a first, and the Iron Bundle didn't seem to really know what to do. Instead of bumping their flipper back, they suddenly stretched their head out on a cable to slam into Laguna's own fist. "Hah! Perfect."
She'd then finally glance over at Orion, once his attention was suitably got, giving him a teasingly 'innocent' smile before sliding away towards the pool. Curious, 05W4lD followed suit. Just in case more weaponized snow was required. {CPR Points}Total: 4 BRING SNACKS AND HYDRATE BOND WITH YOUR POKEMON x2 SHARE QUEST KNOWLEDGE WITH OTHERS

Orion sat leaning onto a rusted wrought iron table that once upon a time would have been a nice piece of patio furniture. One foot idly tapped an anxious rhythm-less beat as he thumbs twiddled idly. He was normally a confidant man, he'd spent his whole life wading through this sort of thing with ease, a cocky smile, a clever quip, and sheer earnestness had always carried the day. So the fear that lingered in his chest at this moment was maddening to him, how unsure he felt, the nerves standing on edge.
Tap tap taptap ta tap.
His leg continued to bounce, and he cracked open a can of cola he'd swapped to to keep himself from getting too psuedo drunk. Taking a sip he'd ponder his apprehension, forcing himself to remember to breath, to use all of the stuff that his psych had told him when he was young and...going through it. There's no shame in how you feel, they'd say, there's shame in letting those feelings lash out.
Alright, so why was he afraid? Because he loved Abbigail.
His heart thumped in his chest, his leg keeping time with his pulse. Okay, he was in love, why did that make him scared? Was it because she was off talking to Eddie? You know, the guy who inadvertently (or perhaps advertently) ruined his last relationship by telling her about his choice in profession? Was it because they kept throwing themselves headlong into danger and maybe one day she would have more bad memories with him than good ones?
Or was he worried that her associating with him would bring her to a similar fate to his mom? Or his Cousin? Was he afraid that he'd pull her into a life she wasn't ready for, wasn't capable of existing in, and that all of this would end in heartbreak? His leg picked up in temp, his heart raced, and he had half a mind to open his UI and waver he off with something nonchalant, perhaps a JK or something of the like. His fingers hovered over the box, ready to type something, anything, and then-
BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM
A barrage of icy projectiles ripped him from his own head, his own internal spiral of fear and uncertainty. His gaze shot upwards to spy his attacker, a mix of adrenaline and annoyance quickly filling his veins as he rose to his feet. His eyes set upon Oswald and Laguna, exchanging their revelry and once again his emotions kickflipped over a myriad of mental sharks in a radical emotional heelturn.
Badump Badump
How could he be scared when she shot him looks like that? Whatever look had been on his face was quickly replaced with a grin that spread from ear to ear as she effortless slid over to him. [tangent="be careful my dear"]"Fais attention ma chĂŠrie"[/tangent] He chided, "I don't know if you happened to catch a glimpse of him, but there's a serial snowballer out on the lamb right now, just got me real good." He'd make a show of brushing the snow off himself before continuing, his heart still thumping in his chest.
"Anyways, sorry to pull you away from the party I just..." his voice trailed off, his gaze holding hers for a moment before darting to his feet, thumbs twiddling nervously. "I wanted to talk to you about something that isn't quite like...uh..."
Oh god damnit Rion, quit being such a fucking pussy and get it out already.
"Look." He took a deep breath and returned his gaze to hers. "When we first met I had no clue how much things would change, and how much we'd end up going through together. How much fun we'd have pushing each others buttons, pushing each others limits, and well...before I knew it I was fucking head over heels for you and then we just kinda..." he motioned between her. "Happened, ya know? And I fucking LOVE it, every moment we spend on the game together, or on our little video dates, I treasure every second of them I just." He paused, faltering but for a moment before he dropped down onto one knee and pulled from his inventory a ring that he'd been working on for well...ever. Made from shards of iron plucked from the aftermath of Zapdos' battle, forged in fire kindled from birch from the noonlight shrine, and tempered in only the sweetest of dreams he could find in the dream realm. Combo'd with a perfect SSS full clear perfect hits only on the crafting minigame, it was probably the most perfect thing he could make within the rules of the game for her, and it had taken several months to get JUST right.
"I have so much I need to talk to you about, so many things in my life that I...need to tell you about but I can't ever find the right time, but the first and foremost is that I love you." He let that hand in the air, the weight of the words being given the requisite weight and time to sink in. Three simple words that weighed more on his heart than heaven and earth combined. "Would you would make me the happiest powergamer on both earth and UNOVR and make us couple class official? I want to journey both worlds hand and hand with you, you supporting me and I returning the favor to you. I don't know what anything the future holds, both with the raid and with life in general, but I can't imagine doing it without you..."
At the end of his words he watched her face carefully, gauging her expression as his heart beat so hard in his chest he swore he was having a heart attack, his breath hanging in his lungs as time seemed to stand still.

The Bayleef heaved a sigh as she listened. But if Alicia could do this âfast travelâ thing⌠âThen why would she ride with me during Electro DriftâŚ? With how much it seemed to hurt her ever since Asper CupâŚâ Tikani thought to herself. Coming to this party itself was an example. Her hair had briefly caught fire for Arceusâ sake! Not that anyone would realize it at this point⌠was fast healing one of those abilities? And had it really been so easy to grow in power? From her memory Alicia had treated those things as having to be earned the hard way. Through experience and proper growth. Though perhaps she disguised the thing Laguna was speaking of in order for the strength to feel⌠more âearnedâ almost? But what really struck her was Laguna claiming that she and Alicia, along with the others, were âvictims of fateâ⌠The magical powers made sense. Alicia never hid what she wanted to be, so Tikani had taken the presence of unnatural powers as the pinkette having been given a chance to strive for that ideal. And if one could be chosen for potential greatness, what stopped others from receiving the same chances? If fortune smiled, then one got the chance to be great. But one of these chosen referring to herself and others like her as victimsâŚ? That didnât make sense, it clashed with what sheâd thought was the case for Alicia in a way she wasnât sure she was ready for. She didnât want to claim Laguna was wrong about that. She didnât have all the context. She wasnât in their shoes, metaphorically. She didnât truly know, even as she sought to learn and make sense of what she was noticing. But it did help a bit to be told âyouâre not insaneâ. That validation was⌠valuable in a way that couldnât be easily described. Everything that was being spoken of⌠it did feel like it was leading up to that already. But actually hearing the words was a necessary balm⌠And then Laguna suddenly went quiet. And Tikani could see the anguish blossoming on the Freezerâs expression. Without a second thought, she extended a vine and wrapped it around Lagunaâs wrist, squeezing gently. âIâd heard about Midas CorpâŚâ The Bayleef noted gently in slight interruption. âIt took a lot of prodding to get Alicia to open up to me about it. But she did, eventually. About how badly things had gone wrong for everyone involved thereâŚâIt was a small thing⌠but the Bayleef hoped it had offered some comfort in return via the commiseration. And then Laguna went on to affirm how real Tikani was. Which⌠resonated in a way that Laguna might not have been expecting. âOnes and zeroesâŚâ Tikani muttered a bit to herself, grimacing. That had been one of the few things that stuck while she was⌠deceased. And she hadnât really understood why. So for such a long time sheâd just shoved it to the side as unimportant. But now it felt so much more relevant... The moment the âdingâ for Laguna went off, the Bayleefâs head leaf flicked up straight to display the dinosaurâs surprise. Listening to Lagunaâs explanation, she nodded softly and let go with her vine to let the girl leave. âI⌠am going to need a lot of time to process this, I thinkâŚâ Tikani murmured to herself, getting up in short order and returning over to Aliciaâs side. âHaving fun?â Alicia asked as her starter returned to her, smiling. Still blissfully unaware because the Bayleef was going to such efforts to keep things seeming normal enough. âYou could say that.â Tikani lied easily. There would be time after the battle to come. She wasnât going to burden Alicia with her fears and confusions right before the pivotal moment. She needed her full and complete focus on the task ahead. Was she real? Alicia treated her like she was. Laguna said as much in a more direct fashion. No one else sheâd met seemed inclined to imply otherwise. What meaning did the phrase âOnes and Zeroesâ have, that it would stick in her mind so deeply? Why those two numbers specifically? Did they mean anything on their own or was it code for something else, ? She had no way of knowing⌠Are the trainers truly victims of fate? She didnât want to believe so. Because if that was true then she was afraid she was on the verge of losing her first major friend. Just like she herself was lost to Alicia for a time⌠Some answers were acquired. But so many more questions were spawned in the process. âââââââââââââââââââââââ {Party}Tikani (Bayleef) [3/3/4] Giyun (Duraludon) [3/3/4] Venex (Naganadel) [3/3/4] Sylvene (Pidgeot) [4/4/4] Rath (Growlithe) [4/4/4] Yuyan (Celesteela) [3/3/3] CPR Total: 10

Shalin listened to orioncayge 's recollection of the Professor Ash quest. "So you're saying that Ultra Beasts are likely to be a detriment in the raid? That's unfortunate. I've been really working hard with Olivia here. What I was working on with her outside was a way to make her attacks stronger. If that's the case, I might have to take her out of my Refresh and work on other PokĂŠmon before it's our turn to take Hearteater down. I've already got a Beedrill ready, though I'm not sure how effective she'll be. Why do so many bugs also have to be poison-types?" she huffed.
With that load off her chest, the green-ette introduced herself to Nero directly. "Great to meet you, Nero! Shalin, glitch hunter extraordinaire." She listened to what she had to say about the Doortals. "That sounds incredible! Once Alicia Westfield and I get out of the Arena, I'll have a Floatzel I can take down there and go exploring myself. That dungeon in particular sounds interesting!" Little did she realize she would need to equip the Swimmer class to get down there until she looked into it more.
"Exactly," she turned back to Alicia. "I've been working with Olivia quite a bit since catching her after the Midas run. I don't think I'll bring my own Naganadel with me. Toxrill's just too new to the team to trust in such an operation." She was convinced that Necrozma would be the raid boss, and needed to bring as many bug PokĂŠmon as she could. "On top of that, he's a poison-type."
After giving her two BYTES, she waved for Alicia Westfield to join her at one of the training dummies. "We should use our biggest attacks on these. See how much damage we can inflict on one. What say you?"

The crackling growl that came from beside him this time was one of concern as Quill reared up again to look up at Nero's face. The reaction to Orion's departure had been noticed by the Quilava too then, and not just the other players around, though the fire type wasn't quite sure what he could do to help out this time. His head swiveled left and right, before focusing on the corner that Nero had just been dragged away from. The snack table was over there too, so maybe that's why his trainer was sad now?
Dropping down on to all four paws again, Quill darted back over to the table, standing up beside it and snatching the nearest can and bag of crisps that he could reach into his mouth, before rushing back to Nero once more. Nero barely avoided tripping over him, the fire type having effectively stopped his retreat unintentionally as well, but he couldn't help but smile at the gifts now being held up to him. "Thanks," he murmured at Quill as he took the items from him, petting his starter's head and earning a happy purr in response.
The distraction had given one of the new people the opportunity to intercept Nero's retreat as well - an escape clearly wouldn't be as easy as he'd hoped for. "I'm not scared," he muttered quickly, eager to clear up that misconception before it could spread. It wasn't fear, it was... caution... or something.
He couldn't really avoid being dragged back into the circle though - not without looking far too obviously antisocial and he had been aiming for subtle until now. Thankfully nobody asked him any tough questions (maybe they'd realised that they'd need to ease him in gently here), though he appreciated Shalin Nariya making an effort to actually engage him in conversation... He wasn't quite sure how to admit that aloud, but between her and Alicia Westfield , this world-ending moment of embarrassing solitude suddenly felt so much more manageable again.
It also made this whole quest feel... more feasible. These were just other people playing a game too, and no-one else was taking it too seriously. They were just enjoying the content, not acting all competitive, and actually being excited about this nerdy stuff... So maybe it was alright if Nero did the same actually.
Well, no promises. A quest like this was a big commitment so he wasn't signing any contracts or anything. But as he glanced down at Quill while Alicia's Growlithe attacked the nearby training dummy, he couldn't help but wonder what his own team might contribute if he let himself get a little bit more involved for once...
