Okay, so, unlike the three crazies who decided to do an entire one hundred challenge tower by them-individual-selves and seeing who could scale the peak the fastest, he… he came by this place for an entirely different reason.
Truth be told, he had quite a number of Pokémon to use, but had only really, honestly interacted with… with a few of them, so he was here to change all that. How far could he go while doing this alone, he wondered?
“Well, I might be just as crazy as them, but at the very least I’m not racing anyone for this!” he muttered with a sigh as he pinched the bridge of his nose. He had… a specific target in mind for the first, but after that it was going to be a test of how well he knew the ins and outs of the entire franchise.
Let’s see how this goes.
no, not that insane to do 100 floors alone (or am I?!). this is for pkmn dev! Prompt #1: [Tower] QiObdNzo1-501-50

Right then and there, the very first prompt almost threatened to derail him from the entire thing—it was a good thing he’d gone through every single one of his current companion roster’s moves, and so he could hit this one easy.
But he wondered—was Wukong going to be just as snarky as Muninn? Or was it just really something about him that seemed to make a majority of the Pokémon companions that came along with him, tend to lean towards the sarcastic side of things?
“Okay, you’re up,” he would hum as the simian Pokémon popped out of the red beam of light… and then promptly yawned! Like, literally yawned right where he could see!
‘Oh…? Is it that time already? I never thought you were going to summon me!’ the Fire-type drawled, looking at the human with this completely unimpressed look on his face.
“I’m trying to change that, okay?” he would apologize, holding out his hands before tilting his head at the flashing prompt. “Plus, you’re the only one I know, who can do that.”
‘What, heal up?’
“Exactly! So can you… please… you know, heal yourself?” he would beg. No, plead would be the correct word for this.
‘We haven’t even started yet!’
“I know. Strange place, stranger rules. We have to work together for this, okay?”
‘Alright, alright.’
Breathing out an exasperated sigh, the Chimchar would them heal up using Slack Off, right off the bat.
At least that was easily done.

As the first move registered and the second ticker flashed on his screen—he almost… he almost had a breakdown. Holy shit, while he did have enough coverage across the generations, what even was… no, no, wait, he could clear this!
“I’ll be calling on your service again soon, okay?”
‘Alright, alright. Just. Give me a little warning?’ the Chimchar would yawn before being recalled in a flash of red light—only for him to swap out at once and drop down the strange, funny-looking Meowth this time around.
Wait, was there a ruling that—no, no, it only applied to the currently-running tower, right? Not a legacy challenge like this one?
‘Oh, good morning,’ the funny-looking Meowth would greet him. ‘What are we doing today?’
“Well… you remember how people and Pokémon become closer by… well, you know, interacting over time?”
‘Oh, we’re doing that today?’ the bristly voice perked up, strange ears twitching.
He nodded.
‘Don’t mind me then!’ the snickering cheered in glee, before chasing after one of the Patrat that had come too close for comfort.

Again with the location prompt?
Seriously, what was happening? Had he drawn the short straw for today’s video? He would then pinch the bridge of his nose, before releasing a long-held in sigh.
Okay, tower, if that’s how you want to play, then so be it, he thought. I at least have decent coverage across the generations, so I hope.
After the funny-looking Meowth had come prancing back while tapping their claws in satisfaction, he would nod in acknowledgement their way, before recalling them back in a flash of red light.
So he had one of two choices—he knew that the Lillipup was being non-verbal right now, but how else would he get to know—
The shaking of a Pokéball would catch his attention as a beam of red light shot out of his pocket and would summon aforementioned Lillipup, barking like a mad dog deranged and he would sigh.
(Seriously, how many sighs was he going to be making today?)
“Still no voice, huh,” he would muse quietly as the canid Pokémon would then start yapping at the closest Patrat, nipping at their heels before chasing them away.
“Maybe there’s a trick to all this.”

Oh, hey, a new prompt! And one he could hit with…
“Hey, Wukong, I need your help again,” he would warn as he pulled out the simian’s Pokéball once more and popped it open. “This time, you know, I gave you a heads-up!”
‘Much appreciated, thank you,’ the Fire-type monkey would yawn as they reappeared on the field once—
‘Huh, first it was a healing move, now you want me to do what exactly?’
“I… I know you can!”
‘Wait, I can?’
“Yes!”
This… was going to be an interesting partnership, all things considered. Right then and there the realization dawned on the simian as he realized just what the human had meant, and then proceeded to give one of the approaching Patrat a really nasty look in the eye.
Making a Nasty Plot, and all that.
“There we go,” he would encourage the simian once the Patrat had literally screamed for their lives and ran off. “That’s a good start.”
‘I scared ‘em down bad. That worked, right?’
“Yes. Yes, it did.”

Huh. Why was this place giving off, what was that again, ‘Mr. Worldwide’ vibes?
Again with the location prompt? he thought, this extremely unimpressed look on his face. Luckily, he had exactly one Pokémon who could hit this prompt without too much trouble.
“Okay, I’ll call on you again when I need your help,” he would advise the Chimchar, who nodded before being summoned back into the red beam of light, only to be replaced this time by—
‘You wake me up for this?’
“Hello, Muninn,” he would deadpan with just as enough snark and sass as the corvid Pokémon.
‘What are we doing here?’
“This is more of… a ‘getting to know everyone’ exercise. So far, I’ve gotten to talk a little more with Wukong.”
‘Oh, the Chimchar?’ the Murkrow would confirm, flying forward and cawing as loudly as they could manage in an approaching Patrat’s face.
“Yep. The same one.”
He wondered what prompt would flash next…

At least the next prompt was something he could easily hit—and with one of his favorite Fire-types from Generation One, to boot!
Although—one had to wonder, how in the ever-loving fuck could Growlithe pick up a move that was absolutely not within its (to his knowledge) very-obviously canid moveset?
Muninn would settle in his hair (again) to watch the insanity before he pulled out another Pokéball and summoned Max, the overly-affectionate Growlithe who would literally hit the floor running, yipping and yapping and running circles all around him like it was the end of the world—
“Max! Focus!” he would warn the Growlithe once the other had gotten the apparent case of the ‘zoomies’ out. “Let’s get to the task at hand, please?”
The canid would sit down and then bark, exactly once.
Huh—was Max non-verbal as well? That was two canines that didn’t speak! Or maybe, just maybe… there really was a trick to all this.
Maybe he had to do something alongside Max so the other could find his voice.
“Alright, good boy,” he would continue as he gave the Fire-type an affectionate head scratch. “Now, can you—” he trailed off before said Growlithe shot off like a rocket, yapping madly all the while before engaging in very Rough shenanigans, Playing with the nearest Patrat like their life depended on it.
“…huh. I hadn’t even said anything yet!” he mused, observing the strange phenomenon as the Growlithe then proceeded to pick up the Patrat and shake it like a squeaky toy, before literally yeeting it across the room.
“…not to mention pretty violent, but it gets the job done!”

There was this bemused look on his face as the Growlithe came trotting back, wanting pets and affection for a job well done—he would give Max exactly that, before recalling the canid back in the red beam of light before realizing that…
“Heads up,” he would warn the Chimchar as they were summoned from the depths once more.
‘Huh. That again?’
“I know. You’re pretty much the only one I have who can hit this without going into too much detail,” he would sigh, resisting the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose—but hilariously, the Chimchar would nod.
‘Sometimes I wonder, what can you do if I wasn’t around here.’
“Let’s not get that far, shall we?”
And again, the Chimchar would seemingly yawn in front of the approaching Patrat, never mind if it was seemingly ‘ignored’ because the simian was Slacking Off once more!
This prompt was weird, honestly. But as long as it got the job done, then it would count.
‘What next?’

The next prompt made him frown—for a few moments.
Right as the Chimchar finished being absolutely lazy in front of the Patrat that had run away, he realized—he would have to temporarily switch languages in order for the next part of the plan to work.
“I’ll… let you know, okay?”
‘Will do.’
As the Chimchar disappeared into the beam of red light, he had to brace himself and step back because the next prompt would definitely require a lot of room—
The Celesteela, easily his single biggest Pokémon companion at the moment, would appear from the flash of red light. Biting his tongue, he knew he had to refrain from either English or Italian for a few moments.
[tangent=“Good morning,”]“Bonjour,”[/tangent] he would greet them—her? Maybe a her, because of how they looked. [tangent=“Can you use Mega Drain, please?”]“Pouvez-vous utiliser Mega Drain, s'il vous plaît?”[/tangent]
Mentally crossing his fingers, he would watch in quiet awe as one of the extra-long rocket arms would stretch out, before the strange energy associated with the Grass-type move would suck the energy out of the Patrat that dared come too close to the sun.

Thankfully, he had just the one Pokémon who could hit this—and the bonus part about all this was that he was currently perched in his hair!
(Like any bird would.)
Recalling the Celesteela with a softly-muttered, [tangent=“Thank you,”]“Merci,”[/tangent] in their direction, he would then reach up towards the corvid who had nested in his hair once more, poking them gently awake.
“Muninn. I need your help,” he continued as the prompt blinked in front of his eyes. And then—and then the sheer hilarity of what would happen next would…
Okay, how the hell would a Ghost-type move hit a Normal-type Pokémon? Sometimes, the tower made no sense at all!
‘What is it now?’
“Can you… I know this is going to sound really stupid, but can you try to startle the Patrat? There’s one looking at me right now and looks like it has absolutely evil things in mind.”
‘Weird, but alright.’
He would feel claws temporarily sinking into his scalp before the Murkrow took off with a flutter of feathers; before using Astonish on aforementioned Patrat—despite the moving having absolutely no effect whatsoever!
Some of these prompts were ridiculous, after all.
‘I tried…’
“Thanks, Muninn.”

There was a second prompt that almost threatened to derail him from progressing, and hilariously it was from one of the four specializations he aimed to unlock! However… searching through his current party provided the one solution—
Once Muninn had settled back in his hair, this wicked grin flashed across his face for the briefest of moments as Max the Growlithe appeared once more, circling around him several times before a singular whistle made the canid Pokémon come to a skidding stop and a dead sit in front of him.
Huh, okay. What if I approach Max like… like an actual dog? he thought as he pointed to one of the lingering Patrat that was running at them.
“I know you want to use one of your ‘tricks’, so I’ll let you go! Can you use your Reversal attack on tha—”
Before he could even finish his sentence, the Fire-type got back up, barked like mad, before charging head-on towards the Patrat and smacking it with aforementioned Reversal technique!
He watched in silent wonder as the little rat Pokémon was literally sent flying across the area.
“Wow. Pretty violent, but… good boy, Max.”
He would get an affirmative bark in answer.
Maybe there were really some Pokémon that didn’t like talking, after all…

He was fully expecting the floor motif to change—much like how it did at the Tower of Dogs, but—instead, there was no input.
Instead, another wave of Patrat came swinging out of the groves as he mentally cursed at the sight of so many swarming rats all coming together like—like—
“That’s fucking disgusting,” he would grumble. As an Italian—and as an eventual New Yorker—nothing disgusted him more than a fucking swarm of rats!
(Which was what the Patrat were doing right now.)
The next prompt flashed on his screen, and he realized that he had exactly one Pokémon that fit the prompt—instead of recalling Max, he would whistle and have the canid hang around near his legs while he summoned out the Gothita.
(He had not yet made too many changes to his current load out, so he would have to be careful about all of this.)
As the tiny little humanoid would land on the floor, the Psychic-type’s eyes would flash with the brilliance of the night sky, before a Psybeam cut a swathe through the swarming pack of rats!
“Nicely done,” he would complement the Gothita, who would then turn to face him with that stare—
And he internally recoiled.
Just what had the Psychic-type seen for her eyes to go like that?!

Hiding the shudder that threatened too flash across his face, he would immediately recall the Gothita, and take a look at the next prompt.
Okay, if he hadn’t picked up the Quaxly from back then, he would’ve been regally fucking screwed!
(For at that moment he had conveniently forgotten that he had a Murkrow who was now napping in his hair that could easily hit this prompt.)
The all-too-eager-to-please Water-type would hit the ground next in a beam of red light, a surprised ‘QUACK!’ escaping their beak before…
“Sorry if that was sudden!” he would apologize to the Quaxly. “But uh, I need your help. Can you use any of your Flying-type moves on the—”
Before he could even finish the sentence, the Quaxly had gotten off their ass, skidding forward and spreading their tiny little wings wide in a Wing Attack motion!
As long as they hit the Patrat, the place would recognize and register the prompt as having been done!
What lay in wait next?
The Quaxly would come skidding back toward him, a job well done.

Oh, wasn’t that nice? He didn’t need to swap out his Pokémon on the field for that matter!
While the Growlithe would curl up for a nap similar to how Muninn the Murkrow was napping in his hair, the Quaxly would spread their wings wide again; seeing as this was something they could also get done in the blink of an eye.
“It… it’s okay to talk,” he would quietly encourage the Water-type, who already had this steely look in their eye; before suddenly firing off an Aqua Cutter at the next incoming Patrat that looked ready to take a bite out of the Water-type had it gotten close enough.
“I know you want to please, but… try not to overdo it? Sometimes, you know, being too overeager can get you in trouble,” he advised the Water-type. Maybe he had to employ the ‘diplomacy’ card with some of the other Pokémon that travelled with him.
Truly, today was a day for learning about his companions in depth, was it not?
‘QUACK!’ came the enthusiastic reply.
Unless this one was also non-verbal?!

He wondered how many Pokémon he could have out maximum at a time, because the next prompt then flashed across his screen, and he had to reach up into his hair to poke the Murkrow awake once more.
‘…you wake me up for—’ the guttural squawking would greet him, before the corvid’s beady eyes caught sight of the prompt and he cawed derisively.
‘Truly, La—Alkaid, what would you do without me,’ the dual-type cawed; changing midway because there were Pokémon companions out that could not comprehend the spoken word just yet.
The Quaxly would then take up a stance alongside him while the Murkrow flew forward, cackling all the while and dropping a Mean Look on the closest Patrat that wanted to take a bite out of the sleeping Growlithe that was napping behind them.
“Hah. You can try,” he said in the direction of the Patrat horde, before the next prompt flashed across the screen—
