Okay, and now the final Patrat that looked like it was lugging along… okay, the tool box was ridiculous. Why was this one lugging along an entire collection of chisels?!
“This place is strange.”
‘I agree,’ the Water-type nodded, returning back beside him as this time—oh, perfect!
‘Go on,’ the Water-type would nod in the Fire-type’s direction, ‘…this should be easy for you.’
From the looks of things, Alkaid may have gotten a shy Charmander; because it took a few minutes of embarrassed noises before the Fire-type finally waddled out from behind his legs, and then saw the alarming size of the chisel collection that the Patrat was bringing along.
A burst of Embers would then fly towards this last Patrat, and the prompt would change—along with the design of the next floors that lay ahead of them!

The next ten floors had changed—from the Patrat that were lugging tools around, the entire place now looked like…
“Oh, come on. You can’t be serious?” he would exhale, taking a few moments to pinch the bridge of his nose out of sheer—incredulity. That was the closest he could describe this entire thing without going into too much detail.
The first obstacle of the new floor was an obviously-gaping hole that spanned halfway, and looked like a nasty fall back down thirty or so floors… what the hell.
The new prompt also flashed above him, and while the Charmander sought safety behind his legs, the Quaxwell would also let out an equally-exasperated noise of disgust.
Thankfully, he had just the Pokémon for this.
The Rockruff would make another appearance; and this time…
“Can you hit them from across here?” he would ask the canid Pokémon who was also alarmed at the sight of the hole in the floor.
A singular yipping noise of approval would ring out; before a series of boulders in the form of a Rock Slide would be thrown across the yawning chasm; striking one of the Patrat that was taunting them from across the area.

“Thanks,” he would breathe in the Rockruff’s direction once they’d managed to smack the Patrat (and had found a way across the gaping hole in the floor) before the next obstacle lay ahead of them…
Why couldn’t have it been ‘use a Water move’ to hose down the stairs that had been obviously tarred up?!
“Geez, what a nightmare…” he would huff once his companions had gotten across; before recalling the Rockruff and popping out his ye olde trusty companion—
‘You wake me up for… what the hell?’ he would hear Muninn’s familiar guttural squawk change to one of shock.
“I know, right?” he would sigh. And right atop the stairs was another Patrat taunting them to come after them if they dared!
‘Alright, alright, I got this one,’ the corvid Pokémon would sigh, before flying upwards and smacking the smug little Patrat with a Sucker Punch attack.
Another obstacle to clear…

The next prompt would come right after they’d somehow managed to scale the tarred stairs with some difficulty—and then they were in a wide-open space. But wait. With the insanity of the previous floors, surely there was a—
And then the trap itself would come swinging down in the form of a can of paint hoisted up on something he could barely see!
‘Whoa!’ the Murkrow would yell, giving him barely enough time to dodge out of the incoming can’s range! ‘What the hell?!’
“Seriously?!” he would grumble; quickly recalling the Charmander for their safety while leaving the Quaxwell to travel alongside him and the Murkrow… decreased priority?
It would take a few minutes before he would eventually hit on who could get this prompt; thankfully he had someone that could in the form of Max, the golden retriever of a Growlithe that he owned.
After the Fire-type had gotten their zoomies out by running around their feet in tireless circles, a singular Roaring noise would frighten off the Patrat before the second can of paint would come swinging down on them.
“Yikes. Thanks, Max,” he would breathe out as he picked up the Growlithe afterward and crossing the room to the next obstacle that lay ahead of them.

The shuffling prompt would then change back to—
It was another patch of stairs now? But… these looked maybe a little to… one ginger step would almost cause him to lose grip on the Growlithe had the Murkrow not pulled him back with a sharp ear nip!
“Whoa! These stairs were iced?!”
And atop them was another smug-ass looking Patrat; daring them to follow the damned rodent.
He would recall Max back into the Pokéball after this; swapping out for the Rockruff once more who would growl and start barking like a deranged canine at the Patrat that was making all sorts of indecent—wow, rude!
“Get ‘em!” he would call over the barking; and another Rock Slide from the bottom of the stairs would come flying up at the Patrat and knocking them away.
Now, how were they going to scale these steps?!

The next ‘booby-trapped’ room looked like a wire obstacle—but closer observation revealed that the wire was actually… rigged up with something sticky he did not want to find out the name of.
“These obstacles are just getting stranger and stranger,” he sighed as the Murkrow settled themselves in his hair; while the Quaxwell followed behind them. He’d already recalled the Rockruff once they’d managed to clear the iced stairs (with a lot of difficulty) and now…
He was sorely tempted to throw out his Kartana, but he knew that he hadn’t cracked the code yet on how to communicate with them, so—
Celesteela it is.
[tangent=“Can you blast this away for us?”]“Peux-tu nous faire exploser ça?”[/tangent] he would address the comically-large Ultra Beast once she’d emerged out of the red beam of light. [tangent=“Be careful about it.”]“Faites attention à cela.”[/tangent]
The Murkrow and the Quaxwell would give him this strange look while the Celesteela set to work; firing off a gigantic boulder in the form of a Smack Down attack that would eventually cause the wires to snap and break, clearing the way for the Celesteela to smack the smug Patrat waiting for them out of the way afterward.
[tangent=“Thank you. I appreciate it.”]“Merci. J'apprécie.”[/tangent]

After recalling the Celesteela and helping his companions across—the next obstacle was…
“You have got to be kidding me.”
Across them lay nothing but a path of crushed-up glass. Who would try to cross this barefoot?! The Quaxwell recoiled; while the Murkrow let out a disappointed squawk. Muninn could fly across; but…
“Wait. I have exactly one Pokémon who can clear this.”
He would then summon out his ‘favorite’ bowling ball; the Chespin.
“Sorry,” he apologized as he whistled. “Can you clear a path for us?”
And right across them, was—yes, another Patrat that was mooning them and taunting them in the worst way possible.
Just… just how many non-verbal Pokémon did he have, anyway? The Chespin wasn’t speaking to him, either!
Either way—the Grass-type would roll themselves up into a ball; before clearing the way with Rollout. Maybe it was a good thing he left this for the Chespin; because those glass shards looked absolutely painful when stepped on! At least the good thing here was that it… the shards didn’t seem to bother the Chespin at all?
They would follow the Chespin’s wake; and then sound of a visceral ‘STRIKE!’ noise would knock the Patrat away not too long afterward.

The lucky thing here was that he didn’t need to swap out Pokémon because the next prompt was something the Chespin could hit—
However this time there was a trap that involved what looked like an electric fan set up in front of a bucket of feathers that had also been coated in sticky…
Wow, had these Patrat gone on a movie spree of some kind? Why were all the ‘traps’ haphazardly designed?
Another sharp whistle would redirect the all-too-happy Chespin to continue using Rollout to knock the electric fan off to one side—not in a head-long attack, but one from the side.
The visceral, yet absolutely satisfying sound of the ‘STRIKE!’ noise would echo throughout the room; which would also send the Patrat that came in to check on the trap running back out in the same direction they’d come from!
“These traps are nuts.”

The next room…
Had yet another set of stairs; but this time these stairs were iced; there was a telltale sheen of them all over the solid ‘stone’.
Much as he wanted to bust out Max for this one, he had other ideas. While the Quaxwell would wait for the stairs to be cleared, he would summon… his Vulpix, Leanne.
‘What—?’ the Fire-type would blink in confusion, before looking up and seeing that the Murkrow was sleeping in his hair and there was a Patrat at the top of the stairs, yet again, leering at them in the worst way possible.
“Strange place, strange rules,” he would sigh. “Can you get that Patrat for me?”
‘I can, but… what’s going on?’
“I’ll explain later.”
The Vulpix would then raise her tails, before exhaling a superheated blast of Flamethrower up the stairs; melting the ice that had solidified on the stone surface—and clearing the Patrat as well.
“Thank you,” he would add a few moments later as the odd traveling party then leapt up the stairs and headed towards the next floor.

The next trap was… sparkling?
As it turned out the next trap was a literal hail of glitter… but it was the kind of glitter that had been soaked in glue, so it was the disgustingly sticky kind of goo…
“Gross,” he would grumble as he’d picked up the Vulpix and was holding her in one of his arms; before poking at the Murkrow—he did not want to resort to using his Alolan Sandshrew just yet.
(He wasn’t exactly done juggling an entire team composition so there was that.)
‘What, is it my turn again?’
“Yes, Muninn. I need your help. Can you use your Haze move for me?”
‘What? Such a strange request.’
“The current obstacle needs an Ice-type move and by strange technicalities, that’s an Ice move.”
‘Alright, alright.’
The Murkrow would temporarily depart from his ‘nest’, sinking claws into his scalp while doing so before using the Haze move to clear out whatever this… sticky gunk was.

As the prompt changed—he hoped that this was the last of the strange obstacles that the tower would throw at him—he chuckled.
“Well, guess you’ll be a little busier than normal,” he cackled as the Murkrow caught sight of the prompt—and then sighed.
‘Alright, alright. Last Patrat of this floor, right?’
He would nod; flying ahead and over yet a wider hole in the floor; using Sucker Punch on the Patrat that was waiting across the yawning chasm. If any of them would look down, it was… it was a pretty nasty drop, all things considered. There was no way they were going to fall down there. Nope.
At least the last obstacle for this set of floors had been cleared, though!

Now that they’d cleared out the previous batch of obstacles, there was a new series of obstacles waiting… wait, what?
Since when had there been an entire section of rest and relaxation rooms in this tower? So strange. He was about to breathe out a sigh of relief when he saw the signs of destruction here and there—the beds had been slept in; there were unwashed dishes in the sink; hell the vending machines had squabbling Patrat arguing and causing a hold up!
‘What… the hell?’ the Quaxwell blinked.
“No idea. Let’s clear the place out while we’re at it,” he shrugged. He then realized that… it was Wukong’s time to shine once again!
“Leanne, talk to you later, okay,” he would breathe in the Vulpix’s direction, who then disappeared in a flash of red light before the next one hit the ground.
“I need your help again, Wukong,” he began as the Chimchar emerged from the burst of red light.
‘What is it this time?’ the simian would ask before looking up at the prompt on the screen. ‘Oh! Beds! Can we sleep in them?’
“After we’ve driven the Patrat away.”
‘Oh, alright…’ the Chimchar grumbled; before running over to swat a Patrat out of the way; and then suddenly jumping to one of the beds and then settling down before using Slack Off.
In typical lazy monkey fashion!

While the Chimchar would take a short nap, there were more beds to be fixed—and several more Patrat to shoo away. Had they walked into some kind of a frat house or something?
“Alright, alright. I’ll let you know when I need your help,” he would say in the Chimchar’s direction, recalling them back before setting upon the world—an overly eager Growlithe who was more than happy to chase away the malingering Patrat that was sleeping in one of the beds!
“Max! Get ‘em out of here,” he would continue, as the Fire-type then proceeded to Play Roughly with the slumbering Patrat; picking them up and shaking them around like a squeaky toy before yeeting them across the room proper!
“And that’s that,” he would chuckle as he gave the Growlithe a chin scratch once they’d scampered back to where they were putting fresh sheets down on one of the beds.

The next thing they needed to clear out were the… oh, eww, spilled popcorn all over the beanbags area? This was… this was going to take a while.
But then again, the prompt was—okay, he knew he’d seen this in another Tower he’d been part of, so there was that. And he had just the one who could help him with this.
“Max!” he would sharply whistle in the Growlithe’s direction.
“Help me out here, will you?” he added; and the canine would bark exactly once; before using the surprising Helping Hand move—huh, who knew that Growlithe knew that?!
“Hey, I didn’t know you could do that,” he hummed as the Fire-type helped him move the beanbags around to clear out the spilled snacks on the floor.

While the Growlithe was helping by moving the spilled beanbags around so the Quaxwell could help with clearing out the spilled snacks, the next prompt appeared—wait, maybe…
Could they eat the strange snacks spilled on the floor? He wondered.
A mischievous glint lit up his eyes as he then waited for the Growlithe to finish clearing out the beanbags before recalling them, swapping them out for the Chespin once more.
(He’d realized how the Rollout move could be used like some kind of vacuum replacement.)
“Can you help?” he would ask the Grass-type; who didn’t even need any prompting as they curled up into a ball and then began rolling around; cackling all the while as their spiky shell swept up whatever solid debris there was so they could get to cleaning the floor out!
