CORRUPTION: 0/3 | THREAT: 2 | INSIGHT: 0 | GREENHOUSE As he spawns, all Derek can see at first is madness. Things are on fire, players are shouting, and the chaos immediately makes his adrenaline spike. Situations like this, he's never been in them. Each of his nerves are overstimulated all at once and he feels himself want to puke. He doesn't, swallowing all the fear and adrenaline down into the pit of his stomach for later, when he has a break. Instead focusing on the tasks at hand.
"Dryad, joint attack with Apollo. Phthisis, heal them, and keep yourselves sharp! This place is such a shit-show."
The dead eyes of Phthisis focus on Dryad and Apollo, beginning to shower them with a flurry of stun spores, healing them in the process at maximum strength. Dryad follows Apollo, who immediately sends a flurry of razor leaf darts toward the main threat nearby, where Derek can see Tuesday unleashing hell.
And it is in this moment that Derek realizes maybe he should seriously stay on her good side, and also wow, she's so fuckin' cool.
"Here's back up!" Derek shouts to the others, moving closer to the Beast and beside the others cautiously. interact with another player +10
He's not sure how to play this part of the game and he's entered the territory partially blind. Even as he sees Dryad charge with a branch poke towards their targets. Vines burst forth from the grown, berries with black ooze explodes and immediately Derek whines and recoils, moving away from them with furr bristled along his foxy accessories.
"YUCK! That's nasty! Gross! Oh, and boy do they stink!" The chaos was a bit much and Derek decided to follow the lead on asking for help, quickly bringing up his screen and selecting the only person in his friend's list who he had yet to see—since orioncayge and Furrlicity Purrfection were preoccupied ... and honestly really was kissing totally important right now?

There was an iciness to Fairytale's expression as they commanded their pokemon. "Aries. Moonblast and Hurricane," They ordered first to the anxious Whimiscott. Then they turned their regard to their vicious Sawsbuck. Then they smiled, but it was not even the mockery of friendliness they usually displayed. Just sheer danger. "Bacchus, Double Kick and Mega Horn." Both pokemon obeyed, as was the only acceptable response in this situation.
Fairy, Flying, Fighting, and Bug. Fairytale was looking for weaknesses to prey upon. There was no way they were defeating this Briar Beast if they couldn't find any weaknesses. As it was, they might not be able to defeat the Briar Beast regardless. They resisted the urge to growl at that thought. Even if they didn't win, they would go down fighting at the very least.
In the corner of their eye, they saw a familiar player spawn in, the surprisingly endearing Derk_TheJerk and Fairytale decided to be nice for a given value of nice. They had two knives at the moment, after all, and they likely only needed one. "You," They called out, direct and blunt in a way they never were as they talked to Derk_TheJerk at the moment. "Take this." And with that, they offered the other player one of their two knives stolen from the kitchen they had spawned it.

CORRUPTION: 0/3 | THREAT: 4 | INSIGHT: +10 | GREENHOUSE "This is all part of my master plan," Bergamot said as she swatted off the kegglings trying to climb up her dress like evil kittens. "Don't touch me, vermin!"
The Greenhouse was a mess. Its walls had crumpled, its beds were choked with black, decaying weeds, and there was a twisted and giant abomination squatting over it all. "What? I want to ride it," Bergamot said indignantly as Corruption King Furrlicity Purrfection abdicated his throne and went striding past them with his entourage of concerned Pokemon. "Give me a boost, Guillotine! Tonight we ascend to new heights of evil!"
<Can't do. Flying's illegal. Patch 1.1,> said the Piplup immediately. Bergamot stopped and frowned.
"...I've never heard you speak."
<You're very rude.>
<I speak too!> said Starface the Drippy Glaceon, shaking out his thin, bedraggled pelt. <I'm so happy! I've been meaning to lodge a complaint—>
"No time for that," Bergamot, who was no kinder to speaking Pokemon than she was to anyone else, declared. She twirled, dislodging sticky black kegglings in waves like raindrops from a spinning umbrella. The shard of glass flew out of her forehead too, tinkling to the ground.
<Oh my god, you're bleeding again. Here, let me just—>
"No time," Morgana reiterated. She clapped her hands together like Snow White ordering all the little animals to do household chores for her. "Battle formation, everyone. Guillotine and Starface, you're sweeping. Tear into that thing with everything you've got— we'll try and weather the damage next turn. Rainbow, buff yourself and keep them healed. Lights, places—"
Her eyes glittered. Faux-realistic blood trickled down her face, dripping off her chin, dividing her countenance like a broken mask.
"Action."
Savagery. A tornado of claws and teeth as her Pokemon threw themselves into the fray with little regard for their own safety, trusting Gyarados to keep them safe. Tides of bubbles burst like chain grenades as Morgana's starter circled the Briar Beast, peppering it with liquid artillery. But the kegglings hampered the Piplup's every step— the moment Guillotine started firing on their mother, they turned on her, driving her backwards into unforgiving briars.
Glaceon was less consistent— the damp Pokemon charged in a burst of Double-Edge, slamming into the Briar Beast like a car into a brick wall. He sank his teeth into one of the creeping tendrils, biting back a yelp of pain as thorns tore into his soft palate. Tears in his eyes, Starface clamped down harder, locking his jaw like a bulldog. Swift fired from his body in waves of white-hot shuriken, slicing into the monster's bramble-covered form.
Morgana was hardly paying attention. She was in her UI, scrolling through the NEARBY USERS list. "Who are these people?" she wondered arrogantly, stabbing her finger at random on the 'poke' button. Anne. ibis. Spirit. Buzzster Hooperham. Wait, wasn't that her uncle's name? He'd actually figured out how to turn the WorldScreen on?Water whipped around her feet, drenching her up to the knees, and Morgana turned to see her Gyarados whipping up a massive whirlpool around the Briar Beast, catching both Guillotine and Starface in the swirling deluge. In the corner of her eye, she saw their HP bars sliding back to full.
"OHOHOHOHO! Perish!" she laughed, throwing back her head. It was unclear whether she was talking to the boss, the players, or her own Pokemon.

Post by Laguna on Nov 17, 2022 11:19:20 GMT 9
CORRUPTION: 0/3 | THREAT: 3 | INSIGHT: +10 | GARDEN
Laguna was crashed into by Allotta Bambooga, and it was her first instinct to blush at the sight of the large-chested woman. She must look like a mess, red cheeks, her nose bruising, and blood still dripping from it. "H-hey!" She shouted in response, "Careful! You don't want blood on you too." She didn't even want to think about how virtual blood worked, really.
Shadows collided with Light Screens, and she couldn't help but feel at least a little proud of their work at setting up defenses. It wouldn't last forever, however. The Corrupted Pokemon would be here in no time at all, and she was anxiously anticipating the worst. They could use all the help they could get. Idly wondering where her French friend went, she sent h0lyn3v1l a quick message.
Cygnus revealed his G.A.Y Beam, and even she couldn't help but giggle at the sound of it. Oh, developers. They knew what they were doing and totally had fun with that. And sure enough as if on queue, the corrupted pokemon slam into the barrier and it's go time. Laguna grabbed the handles of the cannon and immediately fired the technicolor G.A.Y Beam at her Bergmite, a rainbow-like glow pulsing.
"Alright gang, let's squash some-" Her words instantly died in her throat as she saw the UI popup invade her vision.
Pray or Sacrifice.
Her whole body tensed, suddenly looking at the egg. The Moltres Core. It wasn't a shrine, but it was the very presence of a legendary Pokemon. And it was hurting. The corruption was leaking into it, trying to take over. It was in pain.
Her Pokemon were valiantly defending their charges, Onix had its frozen frame wrapped around Cygnus to protect, and ended up becoming part of the barrier. Cryogonal's Light Screens prove instrumental in defending against the incoming threat.
But her Bergmite stood staring at the Moltres Core. Its tv-static ice spines flicker with soft light in the glow of the core and the G.A.Y. energy.
"... No." It was the only thing Laguna could croak out at first. She knew exactly what was going on inside Glacia's head. That Pokemon had already sacrificed herself once to save them all during the High Tide Raid, and she had fought tooth and nail to bring her back. She had never been in so much pain before in her life, and she swore she'd never let Glacia come into harm's way again.
And yet the Bergmite continued to stare, regardless of their trainer's command. "Berg-"
"I s-said no! No, you're not doing this! I don't care, forget what I said. I said to protect it with your life, but I didn't mean-"
"Berg! Bergmite!" Glacia retorted, now staring down their trainer. Their stubborn expression refused to budge.
Laguna clenched her fist as she spoke, trying to get it through to them. They were stubborn, rash, and above all, weren't even a year old. They deserved better. But Bergmite kept shouting, kept raising its voice, over and over. And she didn't understand them. Growing frustrated beyond all belief, Laguna finally opened up her UI and slammed her first down on one specific setting.
Poke-Speech: Enabled.
"I'm telling you! You're not-"
"I'll be okay Momma, I know you'll come for me."
Laguna's heart instantly broke. It shattered into a million pieces that she could never recover from. Tears instantly began spilling down her bruised and bloody face. "I, wha-"
"I can do this! I've done it before! It's not as scary the second time. I want to help!" Her voice was so sweet, the voice of a loving child, so full of love and endlessly optimistic hope.
Laguna couldn't find it in her to say no, not anymore. She just stood there, broken. The tears continued to pour down her cheeks, heartbroken.
"Madame, I hate to intrude, but the forces of darkness are ever approaching. If we seek to combat this threat, we must strike now before this blight chokes out all life.." A gentlemanly voice suddenly spoke from behind her, startling her as she turned around.
Sir Hail floated behind, its presence now seemingly much more refined with an actual voice to pair with its nature. She wanted to just sob, to scream at Glacia to tell her to not even think about it. But Sir Hail was right, there wasn't any time for this. "I- we, but- Okay."
"But we're going out in style," Laguna spoke up trying to be as confident as possible, and all three of her Pokemon nodded. "Sir Hail, Protect inari 's Chikorita, and lay down an Ice Beam barrage of epic proportions."
"Yes, Ma'am. One frozen laser show, as commanded." He spun off in a flash, beams of ice firing off into the crowd of Corrupted Pokemon as it attempted to draw the heat away from the Chikorita healing the core.
"Roxanne!" Laguna called out, and the massive Onix tilted her head down to look at their trainer.
"Yes, Auntie?" She spoke with an almost sultry tone, smooth and seductive naturally. It was such a strange fit for the Onix.
What happened to her Pokemon, that they all treated her like some extended family? She'd have to ask them questions about it later when their life wasn't in danger. "Protect althaea 's Gothita and Dragon Breath the enemy! Show them we mean business."
The Onix roared in response, body coiling and uncoiling as it stretched, a terrifying gust attempted to shred into the corrupted Pokemon.
"And Glacia-" She paused, tearful eyes glancing down at the Bergmite. Standing tall and proud, practically beaming. "Go and fight while I pray. Ice Ball. I'll call for you." The Bergmite nodded their head, quickly sliding between their legs, and began flinging balls of ice into the crowd.
For her sake, Laguna shuddered as she stared at the core. It took every ounce of her willpower to actually do this. She didn't want to. But what choice did she have? Glacia was willing, she wanted to. She didn't bother hiding the tears that spilled down her broken face as she began.
"Moltres, Hallowed be thy Flame.
May thine own Roaring Judgment purge the world of this Corruption.
Let your Phoenix Wings spread and become Anew, let not our Sacrifices be in vain."
"Glacia!" Laguna suddenly called out, the Bergmite quickly slipping and sliding back through the crowd to clamber up to her side. She immediately picked up the Bergmite, arms shaking from pure fear at what she was about to do.
"Let this Heroic Soul empower you, and join you in Spirit to protect the land. May it burn just as bright."
Her hand shook as she reached out for the Sacrifice button, eventually freezing. She just, couldn't do it. Glacia just nuzzled against the arm that was carrying her, understanding and as sweet as ever, a soft voice coming from her. "It's okay Momma. I'll be waiting for you. I love you."
Her eyes squeezed shut, unable to even look at herself do it as she slammed the Sacrifice Button and felt the glowing presence in her arm fade.
"... Please, we need you."

CORRUPTION: 0/3 | THREAT: 4 | INSIGHT: 10 | MANSION > GARDEN Big Bee wheezed down the hallway, his lungs crunching with every breath as the shards of his ribs ground against each other. He moved slowly, body hunched around his excruciating injury, steps getting fewer and further between.
In real life, the blow from the dumbbell would have killed him. But the reduced pain settings combined with digital wizardry had softened the fatal blow to something merely horrendous. "Oh," he whispered, pulling in as little air as possible. "Oh shit".
"This is bad."
He stopped in the middle of the hall and slumped gently back against the wall, closing his eyes.
I'm fucked. I'll never see the end of raid, and if Olga BanHammer or Lucky Guy show up I'll never hear the end of this at the office party.
He tried to sink into a meditative mindset, but the flashing crimson warnings in his UI were disrupting his feng shui. We implemented passive player healing, right? he wondered, hoping against hope that the devs were on the ball. He prayed that Graham the intern programmer had been able to figure out variables and that as soon as he was away from battle his ribs would un-powder, re-knit, and that he'd be right as rain.
How long should this take? Ten seconds? Fifteen?
He tried again to meditate. He imagined his breathing like the gentle push and pull of the ocean.
In.
Out.
In. A gentle wave rushing over a thousand mile shore of fine, silvery sand.
Out. Swells forming out beyond the break.
In. Bloodied bones and thick shards of bottle-glass poking up like garden eels.
Out. A tide stained red from blood. His blood. Draining out and leaving him as dry and withered as driftwood.
Big Bee's eyes snapped open and he took a deep, terrified breath. "Ah! Fuck!" he swore, only making things worse. "AHHH!"
"Do you need help?" sneered Morgana the Gyarados. She wasn't being rude, her expression just seemed perpetually set in a facsimile of her namesake's signature superiority.
Big Bee nodded gently, and then gasped as the healing hit him. It was like time rewound, and the truck-like impact of the 3.5 ton collision pulled out of his sternum, popping his internals back into their regular spots.
GYARADOS HEALS BIG BEE FOR (182)
"Oh yeah," Big Bee said, taking deep breaths through his nose and feeling his lungs properly inflate for the first time in minutes. There was no screeching, no slashing pain like his kidneys were knife-fighting his large intestine. Everything was right with the world.
"Time to go save some people!" Grabbing TKO under one arm and Snubbull under the other, he raced for down the hallway, stopping quickly to peek into the Training Room. Jam was fast asleep (unconscious?) on one of the training mats. Corruption still oozed from the gaps between his crimson plates, and a cruel fire burned restlessly in his open mouth, but he was down for the count. "Little guy is all tuckered out," Big Bee said, and he dragged another training mat over to cover up Jam like a blanket.
Out in the garden, things were going...surprisingly well!
The barricade of chairs, Onix, and blazing light held firm, keeping the Corrupted Pokemon at bay!
The only problem was that Big Bee was on the wrong side.
The creature that used to be Rian turned to him, twin sticks held like sabers and teeth bared in a face-biting snarl. "Fang! Go! Bite!" Big Bee said and he held out his newly equipped Snubbull. The trained guard dog chomped down with oversized Ice Fangs, smashing a maw full of icicles and frosty canines in the face of the attacking Thwackey.
FANG ATTACKS CORRUPTED THWACKEY FOR (78)
The monkey advanced. "TKO!" Big Bee shouted, but the little Clobbopus was already on it. He's snapped off the legs of the Pokepong table and was swinging them in a hellicopter motion, forcing Thwackey backwards. "You are grass...but afraid of wood...curious..."
TKO ATTACKS CORRUPTED THWACKEY FOR (207)
With Fang under one arm, Big Bee jumped onto Morgana's back, and the trio swam up and over the barrier, landing in the cluster of healers around the Moltres Core. Big Bee had missed the speech about the G.A.Y. beam, but as he saw other take their shot he got the general idea. His Gyarados was almost out of heals, so the buff would be better used elsewhere. "Healer, healer, healer," he said, scanning the garden. "Oh! butterfly! Think fast!" he said, launching a technicolored ray at the trainer's support Timburr.

CORRUPTION: 2/3 | THREAT: 6 | INSIGHT: 0 | GREENHOUSE Look, Manish yelling that he was going to help was all well and good, but he didn’t actually know what was going on. There was a…thing that looked like it was kicking up a storm in the greenhouse and a bunch of keg? Things? Around? He really didn’t know what was going on with all of this. Before he could fully charge in, Sarah Lee and Morgana greeted him.
“Oh! Hello! It’s good to uh, I mean, nice to see you both. Again. Yes. That. Hi.” He gave Sarah Lee an awkward wave before Bergamot Gristleborg ’s words registered. “Wait, Larvitar? Like my Larvitar? I don’t uh, no I’m pretty sure Larvitar isn’t there. I mean, uh, see here’s the thing I…” he took a moment to dig through his pockets and found the pokeball with Larvitar hastily scribbled on it, “...no see, yeah Larvitar’s right um, here. But thank you! For uh, for thinking about her! That’s really really nice of um, of you. It means a lot that you care about my pokemon.”
Before he could continue going on about how much Morgana caring about his pokemon meant to him, someone new spoke to him and Manish stumbled even more over his words. “Fight…fighting? Oh I don’t really, I mean, I guess I do fight. Um. But I mean, I don’t really uh. Know? It’s, uh, I think it’s that,” Manish pointed at the Briar Beast behind him, “...thing? But I don’t know what it um, I’m not really a fighter. I mean, I can! I will. It’s just um. Hi. I’m Manish.” Manish stuck out his hand for Bronze to shake, but it faltered when he saw a chunk of glass sticking out of the back of his hand.
It was then he realized that he definitely still had shards of glass covering him, a couple stuck into his coat and in his hands. His eyes widened in fear and there was a lurch in his stomach. He should feel those, right? Or should feel them less than he did? He didn’t have realistic pain on, but actually seeing the shards that littered his body sent his brain in a spiral. That wasn’t right. There was something in his skin that wasn’t supposed to be there. Everything in his body screamed at him to start ripping out the glass. But that was bad, right? He shouldn’t do that? That would be weird, and there were still people standing near him. He needed to go away and get the glass out of his body before he cried. Or threw up all over his shoes.
“Oh jeez. I’m going to uh, go. Now. Fight. Yes. That. Oh heck, yep. Haha yep, I know what’s going on and this is totally normal. Yep. I’m not freaking out at all.” Manish really hoped they couldn't pick up on his mounting panic.
Before he could fully freak out, another awful noise came from the Greenhouse and he remembered what was happening. There was a monster and it was hurting people. Maybe other pokemon, maybe Amanita! His hands were shaking and he still felt light on his feet, but he shoved that all into the back of his mind; the part of his mind that held all the bad memories of getting hurt and other things. Things like all the nights spent alone in his giant, empty house, watching his parents leave and leave and leave, the sounds of gunshots, and falling down stairs. It would be selfish to focus on his own hurts when others could have it worse. He knew better, he knew that they came first. He took a shaky breath and faced the Greenhouse.
Whatever the thing was everyone was fighting, it was gross. Like the unicorn and that sick Bulbasaur. There were already quite a few people fighting it, but the Briar Beast looked like it was really holding its own against them.
Manish looked at Ryan and Lucy, who both nodded at him. He glanced down at his hand again, vision going dark around the edges as he stared at the glass. He was fine. He was totally fine. This wasn’t anything to worry about. There were bigger issues to deal with and the faster he dealt with them, the faster he could let himself completely freak out.
Manish quickly made a few taps on his UI, “Ready, Ryan?”
<Born ready!>
“Lucy?”
<Just waiting on you, bossman.>
“Let’s do this.”
The change was instant. A flash of light, Ryan disappeared into a pokeball that then started to grow and grow. Distantly Manish was glad that he had already done this before and knew what to expect. As soon as he threw the pokeball towards the greenhouse, Ryan appeared again, larger than normal and still growing.
In a feat of physical prowess Manish wasn’t sure he actually possessed, he ran and jumped on Ryan’s shoulders before he got too big and Lucy scrambled after him. The two rode on Ryan as he transformed, towering over those around him. Mushrooms sprouted all over his body and the bloom on his back fully opened, fungal petals reaching their full potential.
Manish placed his injured hand on Ryan’s back and felt his skin move. Against his better judgment he glanced down and watched in horror and fascination as the glass shard started to wiggle before it began to move out of his skin. It was being pushed out. Manish stopped breathing as a mushroom grew out of his skin, pushing the glass shard out. Going by the weird feelings all over his arms and back, he was fairly certain it was happening in all the spots where he was hurt. Whatever weird Gardner thing he had going on was replacing the glass with mushrooms; it was the first time they grew somewhere other than in his hair. A distant, quiet part of him wondered if amanita would think it was gross. But at least the glass was gone and he could deal with mushrooms, he liked mushrooms. It was time to focus up.
Ryan had achieved his full, Gigantamaxed size and Manish really hoped no one was emotionally attached to the Greenhouse. “Ryan! G-Max Vine Lash! Lucy, Leaf Blade!”
His pokemon wasted no time. Ryan raised up his giant vines and began to slam them into the Briar Beast over and over and over. There was the distant sound of glass shattering, but Manish did his best to block that out and focus on the mushrooms sprouting out of his and his pokemon’s skin. A glance at Lucy confirmed that she was also sporting a few more mushrooms than normal. “Oh jeez I hope that greenhouse isn't a world heritage site, I don't need to break another one of those” Manish muttered as another window was broken by Ryan’s attack.
As the lashing vines began to slow, Lucy took her turn. She dashed off of Ryan’s head, leaped into the air, did a very sick flip before landing on a vine and using that as her path to the Briar beast. She summoned her strongest leaves and produced a blade to attack with. She let out a scream as she got closer to the Briar Beast and let out a barrage of attacks. Her leaf blade cut into the beast, but each attack was harder to pull back. She realized too late that the black goo was sticking to her, pulling her in. But Manish didn’t raise no quitter. <You want me? Then you get me.> She hissed as she took one final stab into the Briar Beast, sinking in deep enough into the black goo to let herself be taken.
On top of Ryan’s back Manish was unable to help and could only watch as Lucy sunk into the Briar Beast’s side, ichor coating her completely, before she was nothing but a ball of slime dripping off of the Briar Beast.

CORRUPTION: 0/3 | THREAT: 3 | INSIGHT: 0 | GARDEN "Oor 'osh!" Poor Laguna, bleeding all over the place. It makes Allotta wish she had better Pokemon for stuff like this. She had only brought pokemon that were good at punching. But, she could still do something! Kekoa was a fireman in his day job. He knew a lot of both basic and advanced first aid since he was a first responder; sometimes him or his squad were the only things keeping people alive before the EMTs could get them!
Tongue still numb and stomach still twisting, she gave Laguna a little pat and pointed at her face. "'Ey og ish!"
Then she just fucking grabbed the other's face and snapped the broken area back into place. It was quick, efficient, well practiced, but would hurt like hell. She just gave a huge smile to the other before nodding and moving closer to the barrier. A whistle as she departed, having her Pokemon flank around her.
Those fucked up pokemon from the Mansion were still harassing them... they needed to do something about that.
Speaking of, where was Finnegan Fjord?
Allotta hadn't been here for the whole party and was ignorant to the other Team of Trainers in the Greenhouse and their battle. So, she pulled up her UI and typed up a quick message. Poor Finn. Already dealing with a metric fuckton of UI prompts from his Beta Tester class, then dealing with a message on top of it.
Where are you at? As my RIVAL you need to come help me ASAP!!!!
Having written the magic codeword, everyone in the Garden would hear a sick guitar riff start up from behind. Acting as frantic battle music for this whole ordeal as it rung across the area.
Allotta had summoned RIVAL FATGUT to the field.
As per usual, she had no idea he was there. It was just a cool battle theme to her. She hummed along before sticking her fingers in her mouth to let out a loud whistle.
"Ayya!!"
Her three pokemon looked between each other and shrugged. Then, they all jumped into the fray.
Meowth flung flaming, Galaxy themed coins at the Corrupted pokemon crowding the barrier. Blue was right behind her, flames dancing on scalding ropes. Allotta's Kindler class was coming in clutch for them. Then, a blast right before the Bind could be released. The G.A.Y. beam powering up Blue with rainbow energy.
Nidoran M did not get a flame boost as he flung thick, barbed spikes over the barrier. But he did get a poison boost, thanks to the Alchemist side of things.
Allotta cackled madly. Or at least tried to. Tongue still numb and all that.
Yet something called to her.
Pray or Sacrifice?
Allotta wasn't there for the Groudon Shrine in the last raid. She also doesn't hang around the Shrines as much as everyone else. She wrinkles her brow, confused, but in the end claps her hands together and closes her eyes.

CORRUPTION: 0/3 | THREAT: 1 | INSIGHT: 0 | MANSION > GARDEN
Ezra had tears pooling in his eyes as he gazed at the Zubat. How had they ended up here? What had gone wrong? Ezra had just wanted to help. Instead, someone else was getting hurt.
It had started out fine, if fine was a fiery apocalypse full of corruption. Ezra had spawned into an empty mansion and managed to get out to the garden. Virgil had attacked the Corrupted Pokemon there. His Zubat had healed the Moltres Core a bit. <<This isn't enough,>> The Zubat had spoken, solemn as he gazed at the Moltres Core.
And Ezra had frozen. Why had he frozen? If he had just stayed calm this wouldn't be happened. But Zubat could tell Ezra knew something. Had demanded the knowledge that would heal the Moltres Core. Why did he confess? If he had stayed quiet-
PRAY OR SACRIFICE
But prayer had never been enough, not for anything, and it wouldn't be enough here. Zubat had seemed to know it too. <<Let it take me,>> The Zubat had declared. <<I won't last long here anyway, not like this.>> And then the Zubat had paused, sensing Ezra's trembling and hearing his denials. <<You are kind. But I will heal the Core. Cease your weeping, I have not even a name to grieve over.>>
So here Ezra was, tears welling up in his eyes. "Just because you don't have a name yet, doesn't mean you don't matter! Please-"
But the Zubat cut him off. <<Healing is my job. And I will do my job. Let me be the sacrifice. Respect my choice.>>
And what else could he do when faced with those words? So Ezra began to speak stumbling words pulled out of him. "Please- Please accept this willing sacrifice. He is brave, the bravest, and- and he wishes to see you healed. Please-" He choked on saying more than that, but that alone was enough, it seemed. The Core swallowed the Zubat in glow.
A glow and then nothing. No sign that Zubat had ever been here. He ducked his head to hide his quiet tears. This was a game, he reminded himself. But, it didn't feel like a game. This hurt, of someone else hurting for the sake of another, it was all too familiar.

CORRUPTION: 0/3 | THREAT: 3 | INSIGHT: +10 | GARDEN Alice laughed with Moon Bunny, relieved for a brief moment of lightness amidst the chaos unfolding around them. "We should!" she chirped. Maybe when all this was over, she and the other temporary Knights could all hang out. She sent a quick friend request to Bunny before refocusing on the matter at hand - namely Cygnus and his finished device.
A G.A.Y. Beam? She chuckled at that, her eyes lighting up as the rainbow-colored beam was aimed and fired at Sol. He began to glow like he'd just swallowed a Mario Kart power-up, ready to resume healing the Heart. "You know what to do!" she called out to him. "Let's switch out Charge Beam for Power Gem, actually."
Sol bobbed his head and fired at the Heart - Alice watched long enough to make sure the dark veins were receding a little more before whirling around at the sound of the battle unfolding in the Garden. A safe haven only a few minutes ago, it was crawling with corrupted Pokemon now - but thankfully, several more players arrived to their aide.
inari's entrance was accompanied by a rampaging Gyarados, which was making quick work of taking out a few of the corrupted Pokemon, but also weakening their defenses. "Can you set up another Light Screen, Sol?" she called out to him. His power-up from the G.A.Y. Beam had faded, but he was still looking lively and ready for more action. In response, a wall of bright pink light appeared before her.
Well, not all of them were on their side apparently.
Something wasn't quite right with Furrlicity Purrfection when he arrived. Maybe it was the way he moved, like he was pulled by some strange force, or the hints of dark corruption wicking off him like flames.
They were seriously in over their heads here. Alice swiped down her UI and fired off several messages to friends, including Derk_TheJerk and Maxine Mayfield, and after some thought invited her rival, Tristan. It wasn't like he could make things much worse. The sound of a distant guitar riff seemed to indicate the invitation had worked.
"Coraline, start charging an Ancient Power," she ordered her Corsola, before turning to her Impidimp next. "Kirby, I want you to fire two Dark Pulses at Incineroar." It was instinct for her to go after the bigger fish, even if that wasn't how things really worked in this game. "Coraline, when you're ready, turn that Ancient Power on Incineroar as well." Her eyes narrowed. Furrlicity and his corruption were getting too close for comfort. What would happen if he reached the Heart? She'd sworn to protect it. And he'd kissed inari, certainly with the intent to spread his corruption. Don't get her wrong, she was an ally through and through, but she had to stop that from happening too.
Alice whirled around, scrambling on the floor for several seconds to find something suitable. She bounced to her feet again after finding the remains of a chair leg. "Hey, Furrlicity Purrfection!" She didn't know him well, but by the look of his concerned Pokemon around him, she knew he was corrupted and not like this normally. She flung the chair leg at him as hard as she could, hoping it might distract him more than anything else.
A UI pop-up distracted her.
Pray or Sacrifice?
For the first time, she considered the latter option. She swung to look at the Heart again, where its dark veins of corruption still inched all over it - albeit, far more slowly now. It was looking better - but not good enough. Not healed. Alice knew if a Legendary Pokemon hatched here and it was corrupted... well, there might not be a settlement left to save. She wondered if the devs would be brave enough to send Unovr into an apocalypse.
Her eyes flicked to Kirby, her Impidimp, knowing what she had to do. It's just a game. You can bring him back later. It doesn't matter.
Alice turned and tapped Sacrifice, her back to the flash of light as Impidimp disappeared. She watched the Heart instead, watching how it glowed ever brighter.

... .- ...- . / -- --- .-.. - .-. . ... The Magnemite hovering right by her side keeps light zapping her with electricity. It’s harmless, sure, a mild annoyance more than anything else, but considering that she’s already aching and covered in scratches from her fall, Domino would really like it to stop.
“Okay, seriously… What the hell?”
.-- . / -. . . -.. / - --- / ... .- ...- . / -- --- .-.. - .-. . … Wait, is that like… Morse code?
Good god, is this another ancient, forgotten, remnant from Clanwar: Worldstorm?
Domino may be smart, but she sure as hell isn’t smart enough to just decipher morse code on the spot. As such, she’s left with only one choice:
POKÉ-SPEECH: ON <'I am dread and I am terror! Fear me, for I am the sco–'>
“Balerion, not now. I’m trying to talk to Magnemite. You’re a SUPPORT, go support someone.” Domino’s multicoloured eyes roll at the Charmander’s antics, her attention then turning to the Magnemite in question as if she weren’t fully aware that Balerion is throwing a tantrum only a metre away. “Alright, sup?”
<'Miss Domino, we need to save Moltres!'>
“Well yeah, but I think people here kinda already got that covered, little bud.”
<'No, Miss Domino! Keep healing the core! I’ll help deal with the corrupt pokémon!'>
“Wow, you’re real demanding, huh? Fine, fine, let’s have it your way… Alright, dread and terror, you heard Fodder Two.”
<'I will burn all our enemies to ashes!'>
“No, Balerion. Go heal the core.”
<'Ugh. You’re no fun. I am dread and I am terror. I am destruction and immolation. Fear my flame, for it shall scorch everything!'>
Warm, gentle, healing flames are shot at the core, Domino can’t help but chuckle lightly, especially as she adds the colourful light of the G.A.Y Beam to the mix. Balerion still takes it all very seriously.
But, it’s then that her attention turns to those around her. She notices Alice! in particular, witnessing her sacrifice. In respect, there’s a nod; as much as she may name some pokémon fodder, that’s a strategy to distance herself from them more than anything else. Sacrificing her own pokémon had never even crossed her mind. Much less praying. Religion has never suited her, honestly.
“You go too, Fodder One.”
<'Yes, Miss Domino. Whatever you wish!'>
See? Now she feels bad. With a sigh, Domino watches as Magnemite’s THUNDER WAVES attempt to fend off corrupt pokémon after corrupt pokémon, and also as Gothita and Balerion do their best to help heal the core. She opens her UI, considering for a moment, and then, a message is sent in UNOVR world chat, likely to be lost among a plethora of trade spam:

"Okay, yay!"
Alice! 's friend request is accepted almost instantly, and Bunny grins as everything continues to fall apart around her. It's her first request from someone she doesn't know IRL! This is so exciting!
But unfortunately this isn't the time for casual chit-chat, and Bunny has to force herself to pay attention to Cygnus' explanation of the G.A.Y. beam and it's abilities. Though she can't help but giggle at the name, she does understand the gist of the device, and everything else they have to do. Thankfully, it's all rather straightforward— at least, until the sickly forms of more corruption victims start to ooze back into the garden.
Bunny glances around as other players make dramatic speeches and sacrifices. People get really into this kind of thing, huh? It's a little intense for her. She's not about to start giving an anime-protagonist level of speech in the middle of a battle like this.
Maybe in time she'll become a better LARP-er, but for now she's still a filthy casual.
Speaking of which...she barely manages to recognize the corrupted Pokemon that attempt to break through their defenses and sabotage all their efforts. And knowing their types? Absolutely not. In times like these, Bunny chooses to use one of her lifelines: phone a friend.
"Hey Sebby! Venir une seconde!"
She'd forgotten to mute herself. Unfortunately, that means everyone in the vicinity can hear Bunny's one-sided conversation with her roommate. At least the entire chat might not be able to understand her rapid French (which fish is not translating because it's 3am) and can hopefully tune her out.
"Yeah yeah, just for a minute! Can you look something up for me?"
"The UI says this is a umm...Gothita? Mhm...no, like...hang on...mhm! Can you look up like, weaknesses and stuff?"
"Ohhhhh, that makes sense. Okay! Thaaaank you! Oh, oh! Do you still have your old account? You should totally log in and play! This raid thingy is like, suuuper cool."
There's a bit more shuffling before Bunny joins the game again properly, just as chipper and clueless as ever. As soon as she's able, she uses the G.A.Y. beam to power up her Ducklett, who's chest glows warmly with the influx of power.
"Okie dokie!" Bunny chirps, "Sunkist, use erm...Flame Charge! And Sprinkles, use Bite! Choux...just keep doing what you're doing!"
Despite their player's general incompetence the Pokemon all perform in spectacular fashion. Sunkist the Torchic aims his fiery attacks at the corrupted Grookey, while Sprinkles the Snubbull lashes out and bites at the Gothita with fangs plated in ichor. Still on healing duty, Choux the Ducklett continues to mist a healing rain over the egg.
This is going...well, right? It's hard for Bunny to tell, but optimism starts to break over her mind's horizon as she idles in the background. Chipper as she is while other players and Pokemon ooze corruption onto the field, it's clear that she has no idea of what the dark phenomenon truly is. But really, it shouldn't matter that much, right? After all, this is all just a game!
The thought she'd had in the previous dungeon echoes: if you die in the game, do you die in real life? With a scoff, Bunny shakes head. And at that moment, the UI prompt that she'd disregarded before flashes again.
Pray or Sacrifice?
Pray, huh? While others come up with eloquent speeches dedicated to shrines, Bunny's mind is a blank as a peeled potato. But praying sounds kind of cute...like wishing on a star! Only...what kind of prayer are you supposed to say to an egg, of all things?
After a moment's thought she clasps her hands, squeezes her eyes shut, and utters a little prayer to the molten egg in front of them.
"Itadakimasu!"

CORRUPTION: 0/3 | THREAT: 2 | INSIGHT: 0 | GREENHOUSE Treecko entered into a world of chaos.
The terrifying BRIAR BEAST was unleashing itself upon the world, and pokemon trainers from all over UNOVR were doing everything in their power to stop it.
She looked around, trying to get some kind of read on the situation. The first thing she did was assess her companions.
The Drilbur she'd summoned was stretching his drills.
"Always gotta limber up before the grind," he said when he saw her looking.
"Very good," Treecko said. She glanced at Kath and Psyduck.
The two of them looked like twins, both cradling their heads and occaisionally glancing up at the world with an anxious paranoia.
"Ah fuck," said Kath.
"Psyduck," said Psyduck.
"Get it together," Treecko said. "We have to take action, NOW."
Next, she assessed the battlefield. It wasn't… TOO bad.
For one, a group of pokemon trainers had already successfully healed the molten core.
Even better, it looked like the corrupted pokemon were being kept at bay by UNOVR's combat specialists.
She cringed as she watched Grookey was BURNT TO A CRISP by Moon Bunny 's pokemon, Sunkist. He rolled on the ground. "Ow ow ow, baby! Yowsers!"
Meanwhile, Bulby had been neutralised althaea 's pokemon, Cael. He was silent as he flew through the air, blasted by a thunder attack.
Treecko nodded. As much as it hurt her to see her friends get hurt, this was good. She held out her webbed hands. Was it time to heal the folks in need?
Suddenly a message popped up on Kath's screen. Treecko ran over and read it.
NOONLIGHT RAID. WE NEED BACK UP. COME RN.
It was from Tuesday , the original target of the corrupted pokemon's ire. If anyone knew what to do, it was her. Treecko looked over at the Greenhouse where Tuesday was now GOADIN THE BRIAR BEAST. It seemed in line with her other actions thus far.
”EVERYONE! LISTEN! THAT THING’S AFTER ME. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT BEING DISTRACTED TO HIT IT AS HARD AS YOU CAN.”
That was it then. Treecko had her objective.
"Psyduck," She said.
"Psyduck?"
"Try to get inside that thing's mind. Give it a beastly headache."
"Psyduck," Psyduck replied with a HINT of confidence. He put his hands over his temples and narrowed his eyes, focusing all of his problematic brain power into causing mental harm to the rampaging monster.
"Drilbur," Treecko said.
"Call me Drill," he said, staring at the Briar Beast with determination.
"Drill," Treecko identified him and commanded him at the same time.
"You got it," Drill grinned.
He drilled into the GROUND. It took Treecko a second to realise what was happening. Then it clicked for her:
He was going to attack it from beneath.
She frowned. A Briar Beast? What was that weak to? Didn't it start out as a Shinx? Would a ground attack…
Treecko clasped her hands together.
Long, spindly vines stretched out from her feet. They charged down Drill's underground path, walling the sides so it wouldn't collapse, and strengthening the power of his attack!
Treecko buffed Drilbur's attacks!
"This is way messed up," said Kath. She got to her feet, and fumbled through her bag for pokeballs. "Come on Treecko, we gotta get the hell out of here."
"Hell will only follow us," Treecko replied without even looking at her. She glanced over at Tuesday , who was causing a ruckus.
"HEY, FUCKER! COME AND GET ME, YOU PIECE OF SHIT! I SWEAR I’LL BURN ALL YOUR CREEPY LITTLE BABIES."
"Tuesday!" Treecko called. "Let me know if you need a heal!"
"Let me know," Kath yelled as well, suddenly feeling her ego as threatened by Treecko as her physical body was by the violence around her. "I'll get my pokemon, Treecko, to heal you!"
"You just let me know," Treecko said, ignoring Kath.
ROLLING THREAD unovr.boards.net/post/6795Psyduck tried so damn hard to mess up with Briar Beast's mind. He projected a mind prison for the Briar Beast, one where each time the Briar Beast tried to leave a public bathroom another person would come in, and the Briar Beast would have to step aside. Psyduck HATED when that happened.
Psyduck deals 75 Psychic Damage!
Drill BURST from beneath the ground, limbs whirring with dangerous efficiency. Treecko's thorny vines wrapped around his weapons as he struck at the underbelly of the Briar Beast!
"I got a liscence to DRILL!" He quipped as he landed his hits!
Drillbur deals 116 Ground Damage!
"Great!" Treecko said, proud of her team. "Good work, Psyduck - Psyduck?"
She looked in horror as Psyduck's eyes grew completely black. Deep in his irises, Treecko could see that the taps inside the mind-palace-bathroom were so close to the sink that you had to touch the ceramic bowl in order to get the water on your hands. Turns out the psychic attack had gone both ways, and now Psyduck's anxiety had enabled the corruption to take hold.
"Dammit," she said. "It's you and me, Drill!" She yelled to her remaining pokemon.
"And me," said Kath, but Treecko ignored her again.

Post by Bronze on Nov 17, 2022 21:37:21 GMT 9
CORRUPTION: 0/3 | THREAT: 3 | INSIGHT: 0 | GREENHOUSE
The mustachioed gentleman before Bronze began to babble like a wellspring of burbling anxiety, words tripping and hitching over themselves in their haste, such that it was a struggle for Bronze to parse what was being said, overlaid as it was upon the din of battle. He got the essence, however, and when the other man introduced himself as manish , Bronze reflexively extended his own hand to grasp the one proffered to him - only to pause as the glint of crimson-smeared glass jutting out of Manish's flesh caught his eye. The sight of it made his own wound throb in searing sympathy, the wood impaling his left bicep forcibly reminding him of its presence, which he did his best to shove down and away. The blood that trickled from the injury in time with the hammerblow cadence of his heart made that more difficult still, slicking his sleeve and congealing it to his skin in a viscerally displeasing sensation of wrongness.
Painful as Manish's hurts looked, Bronze was more immediately concerned about the man's apparent impending panic attack, but just as he was searching for the right words to strive to steady him, Manish seemed to draw upon some inner core of resolve, visibly steeling himself. Adversity could reveal the true nature of a soul, duress scraping layers of fear and abrading the paralysis of indecision such that one would either break, or rise to the occasion. Once the grizzled man witnessed Manish leap atop his Gigantamaxed Venasaur, he judged that there was steel enough in his soul that the fellow was probably fine.
The smell was a potent, distracting force, the charred, earthy bitterness of a rotted vineyard scorched in a raging wildfire, flavoured with the cleansing scent of petrichor, having been doused by hammering rainfall. Ash, slick and granular, crunched as he moved forward, squelching beneath the heavy tread of his boot as his gaze snapped about, dragged from a disconcerting overabundance of sighs that demanded his attention. Pokemon locked in desperate combat with others that had been dipped in the dissolution of madness, scuttling tides of crawling aberration swarming person and Pokemon alike as all sought to bring the anarchy of the situation under control, even as it spiralled further into pandaemonium. It was like stumbling into a fermented fever dream, an autumnal festival slathered in drooling, drug-laced nightmare, all frenetic, fractured motion and glimpses of all that was natural wracked with the mutating wrongness of Corruption.
None of it could hold a candle to the cavorting bonfire of briar-born blasphemy that was the Beast. The creature radiated a sense of disquieting otherness that made him feel soiled by mere exposure, slime-slick tendrils of oily rot trailing across the fabric of his soul and leaving in their wake a patina of shuddering malignancy. Bronze had no idea what it was, but he knew one thing; It needed to die.
The gleam of purest gold stole his focus, an aureate shimmer that seemed as out of place in this demonic hellscape as a ray of sunlight in the dead of night. It was held in hands that belonged to, of all things, a girl with animal ears. The sheer incongruity of it threatened to draw a helpless laugh from somewhere low in Bronze's chest, but...Why not? Why should there not be some fuzzy-eared Joan of Arc in the midst of all this insanity, hands pressed together as if in prayer, the very epitome of a holy warrior turning to the armour of faith in their hour of need. As Tuesday boldly taunted the rampaging monstrosity and turned to lead it away, Bronze raised a calloused, scarred hand and called, "Die well!"
Addressing his companions in terse, commanding tones, he bid, "Varivus, Ice Fang. Adonitus, Metal Claw where the frost hits. Kraxus, Bulldoze and Double-kick, try to knock it off balance. Keep the pressure on." They obeyed without hesitation - indeed, in the Duraludon's case, he went to it with a will, booming out a joyous, fiercely zealous hymn of war and purity as he waded into the fray, his resonant voice at once low and clarion sweet. Bronze did not stop to watch, for he trusted them to do what was needed.
It would not, he knew, be enough. They needed reinforcements. With a wince that he could not quite suppress, as the oversized splinter in his arm was agitated, he lefted his left forearm horizontally before him, so that his bracer was held aloft. The blunt, hardened pads of his fingers tapped and swiped with deft, sure movements as he brought up a list of players in the local area, players he had seen in passing, added names of players that he could remember from social media, ones he had heard of - anyone he could think of that could possibly help, he added to a mass message list - Natsuki , Beau Briggs , Rex Hazard , Anne , ibis . Depending on their individual privacy settings, they received the broadcast in one of three ways; video, audio, or simple text.
Backlit by the fitful flames that cavorted and hissed in the showering Rain Dance, the grave, starkly carved features of the older figure were licked in turn by slithering shadow and sullen emberlight. The battlefield roar of sound and thrashing chaos of combat was the backdrop his missive was set to, the bedrock-deep rumble of his voice interweaving and harmonising with the bellowing Pokemon, clashing with the dissonant screams of kegglings and the Beast alike. He spoke with the unnerving calm of one accustomed to crisis, cool and measured, each word clearly enunciated and unhurried. "Critical alert. We require reinforcements at my location, at the mansion near the border of the Birchwild. The situation is dire. Muster your forces if you have the will to fight, and join us - if you do not, evacuate the settlement and the surrounding area, and make your way to safety. We may not bring the Beast down, alone. Head to the shrines. Pray for deliverance."
Once that was done, he sent a single, separate message in plain text to C0D13:Bethany2 - 'Witch. Fell spirits are at work here. We may not be able to hold. Bring your powers to bear in whatever manner you see fit. I will pay the price.'
Then he turned back to the fight, jaw set.

CORRUPTION: 1/3 | THREAT: 7 | INSIGHT: 0 | GREENHOUSE
Sarah raced after Bergamot Gristleborg and manish, having flashbacks to the Battle of Beta Beach. From what she could see on her minimap almost all of the original crew were there too. They were just missing Lucky Guy.
Her arm was scratched to hell, covered in blood and chunks of glass, and a surprising amount of dirt. It looked suspiciously like she’d been through some middle-eastern war zone. What was going to happen next? Were the edges of her vision going to blur red, reducing her sight to a pinprick? Was her hearing going to go, drowned out by artillery tinnitus. She’d played a bit of Clanwar: Worldstorm in preparation for UNOVR, and it was honestly quite impressive just how well the mechanics translated. Grenade tossing animations were repurposed for throwing Pokeballs, ambient gunfire had been replaced by trainer shouts, and the unmanned combat drone model and AI had probably been used for C0D13.
Greenhouse was a terrible name for the bullshit that Sarah walked into.
There was little to no ‘green’, and only the crushed remnants of a ‘house’ remained, and what little was left standing was a creaking frame to a noxious mass that now engulfed the veggie patch. Where once there had been prize-winning Chrysanthemums, now there were spurs of thick, chitinous xylem that pulsed ominously, pumping slime across the battlefield.
And it was a battlefield. The location pin that Tuesday had dropped was smack-dab in the middle of a pit of sizzling embers and venomous brambles. And right on the other side of the pit was Tuesday herself.
The roaring flames from the battle should have reduced the garden nuisance to ashes by now. But instead, it had done nothing. The fire licked away pitifully at the tangled hide of the beast, not even blackening its thorny exoskeleton, and as it did a thousand tiny damage pings popped up above the creature. Immune! Immune! Immune! Immune!
Sarah slumped. “Sometimes, firepower just isn’t the answer,” she said, shaking her head. “Just like in Iraq.”
So it couldn’t be obliterated with fire. What were the other options?
Sarah dug deep in her mind and went down the Presidential checklist for interacting with hostile foreign powers.
It didn’t have any nukes (that she could see), but then again all her bombs were fire, and that was about as useful as the ‘bulletproof’ glass on her motorcade had been.
Could they set up a trade embargo? Starve it of resources?
What about a show of force? Rattle some sabers?
What did it want? To turn the Birchwild into its nest? Could they just give it the Birchwild Grove? Or maybe they could pull a scorched-earth and burn the forest down to prevent it from being taken over? Wait, shit. That was a war crime, wasn’t it.
It couldn’t be reasoned with. The thing didn’t have eyes, let alone a head to focus on.
It had no tail to chop off, or glowing weak point….yet.
In video games each boss is REQUIRED to have something that is strong against it. Some combination of attacks, or an element, or a strategy that takes advantage of some innate weakness. “Okay. Well we know fire doesn’t work, so let’s just throw everything in the cabinet at it and see what sticks! Hell, throw the whole lower house at it too! Chell!”
The boar was by her side, ready to raise hell. “Give it a bit of everything. But no fire. It’s ‘immune’ to it.” Sarah rolled her eyes.
Chell charged at the Briar Beast, slamming into it with every technique, every type, every option it had available.
Hammer Arm , Take Down , Head Smash , Smog , Assurance
“Ron. You too. But first,” she opened her UI, tapping through her party menu and selecting the Charmeleon. “It’s time for an upgrade.”
Nubs formed on Ron’s shoulders, sprouting swiftly into wings. His head elongated, and he arched his long, magnificent neck to let out a challenging roar to the Briar Beast. No fire? No fucking fire? Well that’s just fine. She had a thousand other options and one of them was going to work.
Sarah handed Charizard the Gilded Lily, which opened up to play a haunting melody, the little gilded Lilligant twirling gracefully in place and spraying out a Petal Blizzard . “Everything.” Sarah repeated. She looked over at the remnants of the flames, now just ashes on the ground. Sure, they're tried fire before, but it hadn't been her fire. "Give it a little Fire too, just in case," she whispered, and Charizard took to the skies.
Dragon Rage , Shadow Claw , Air Slash , Slash , Inferno (because you can never be too sure)
11 types. Everything Sarah had on hand. She found herself really missing Bernie, but it would have to be enough.

Twin prayers are uttered, opposite and inverse, on either side of the manor.
In the GARDEN, rising over the numb-tongue ramblings and the itadakimasu, a young woman falls to her knees and composes a serenade. A summoning. A call to arms for a creature with none, but a call nevertheless.
"Moltres, Hallowed be thy Flame..."
In the GREENHOUSE, as Tuesday clasps her hands and prays—not to the unborn Moltres, but to the Timberland void— she feels the stolen circlet across her brow grow cold.
A feeling like icy water breaks over her head, showering her in goosebumps. Her mind seems to squeeze within her skull as something takes it in its talons. Tuesday hears a voice, clear and cold and unmistakably feminine. It sounds... bored.
I’m quite tired of fish. Perhaps some lamb, instead? Somewhere far away, the Precipice Shrine activates.
Then Tuesday gets her wish—but the wrong one. THE BRIAR BEAST turns on her, focusing all its destructive power in crushing the persistent threat. The kegglings are not so easily distracted. They swarm across the other players in the Greenhouse, attacking with a mix of claw, fang, and stinger. They spread Corruption in their wake, uncontested, and pounce on the players with kittenlike enthusiasm.Meanwhile, the players who called NPCs to their aid are answered.
orioncayge and Furrlicity Purrfection receive a simple message back from System Admin:ProfessorAsh. “I’m sending Dr. Bunya. Stand by.”
Most players are too occupied to see the dark, winged shape that appears over the treeline from the nearby Settlement, but those paying attention may see the dark-haired catgirl drop from her Aerodactyl, landing on all fours. “Meowza!” System Admin:Bunyaa exclaims, Aerodactyl swooping down to land next to her. “One genius, here to lend nyassistance! Nyeh-heh-heh!”
System Admin:Claw and System Admin:Chadwick arrive next, Chadwick puffing as he jogs all the way from the Asper County Jail. An thin sheen of post-workout sweat glitters on his pecs. "Hey bros! Sorry to party foul and dip from my own do early, but since we figured out who killed Mom and Dad I was down at the Sheriff's office reporting the murder." He looks around at the ruins of the Greenhouse, and the ongoing clash between the Briar Beast and Moltres. "My Chrysanthemums!" he shouts, sagging visibly. "They were in full bloom too. Man, this just hasn't been my week."
CLAW seems entirely unruffled, lounging sidesaddle on her Rapidash as she pulls up to the boss battle. “Y’all don’t need to worry about a thing,” she drawls, eyes half-lidded. With Tuesday on the run drawing aggro, she addresses the Greenhouse at large. Her lips curl in a languid, confident smile. “I left the bad boys at home, so y’all have me all to yourself. Where’s the pretty one? Thought I got a… beauty call, we’ll say.”
Speaking of beauties, the witchy stylings of C0D13:Bethany2 rise from a magic circle that draws itself among the ashes. She steps out of the glowing pentagram. “No soul exists in isolation,” she whispers throatily to Bronze. “It appears that we are bonded.”
Electric guitar sounds echo around the Garden as two System Admin:Rival join the game, apparently able to perceive one another. “Battle me!” yells FATGUT, Allotta Bambooga’s rival. “Are you riffing off my look?!” demands Tristan, Alice!’s. They send out their Chimchar and Blitzle, ready for battle. Alice! knocks out the last of the Corrupted Pokemon, and yet the players in the Garden fight on, overhealing the Molten Core and double-tapping the fallen enemies, just to make sure they’re truly down.
Maybe it’s just the heat of battle, lingering in their veins, or maybe it’s the feeling that things are far from over.
The Light Screens fizzle and fade, and a burst of heat pulses from the Molten Core, forcing any nearby players to take a step back.
Deep, resonant beats punch outwards, coming in pairs. Ba-bum, ba-bum. A heartbeat from inside the egg. What was struggling to survive in the keg has now been infused with life, and the creature inside is ready to emerge.
The actors are in place. Now comes the star. NOONLIGHT RAID: CYCLE 3Let your Phoenix Wings spread and become Anew, let not our Sacrifices be in vain“Back!” Cygnus yells, pulling on a thick set of gloves and a pair of goggles as he strides forward. “Get back! And shield your eyes if you value your retinas.” He grabs the Molten Core and hurls it into the sky just as it shatters in a burst of glowing, razor-edged shards. Chunks of technicolored shrapnel spray across the garden, and the creature that was gestating inside the basketball-sized core unfolds.
Fractal wings of flame unfold a dozen times, doubling in size again and again like burning origami, played in reverse.
Cygnus watches the creature emerge through his thick, tinted goggles. “She was smaller before, but not nearly as colorful.”
And he’s right. The living flames that shift and glow along Moltres’ wings burn with an ever-shifting hue, as if the fire was stoked with reactive metals. “It must be trace elements from the beam,” Cygnus hypothesizes.
"Your friends gave their lives," says Moltres, in a voice of brass and crackling birdsong, “but to me that means so little. Life. Death. Rebirth. Redeath. There is little for me to take away from such things. You may find that your first death is as much like your second as it is your hundredth.”
She breathes, arching her swanlike neck.
“But conflict.”
Moltres cries out, and four slivers of fire shear from her wings, taking shape in the sky as a burning bat, a crackling devil, a pyramid of pale fire, and a flaming, foxlike creature. The air around Moltres quakes with her fierce joy. “Conflict is a thousand times better than birth.”
It raises its voice.
“Now come. Let us bring War.”
The light of Moltres’ resurrected form becomes blinding as the creature dives, passing low over the barricade and incinerating the underside of the overturned Poke-Pong table. The quartet of flaming spirits soar after the legendary Pokemon, following in her wake as she leaves a BURNING TRAIL through the garden and around the side of the manor, heading for the Greenhouse.
She roars up the garden path, the bricks cracking under its oppressive heat and foliage bursting into flame. Her path is marked with roaring flames, a road to battle. Players who step onto the road will find their steps accelerated, activated; an onrushing of energy that propels them to the final showdown.
Not wanting to torch the players currently gathered in the Greenhouse, Ascended Moltres swoops at the Briar Beast, passing close enough to ignite the monster from mere contact—but her flames find no purchase on its thorny outer layer. The four reborn spirits grab and tear at the tangle of thorns, but like Moltres it is only their claws and teeth that deal any damage, not their flaming bodies.
She lands, clawed feet digging deep furrows into the ruined soil, and her prismatic light fills the bowl of the battlefield, refracting in rainbows from fallen shards of glass. As the Briar Beast turns away from Tuesday, sensing a far greater threat, Ascended Moltres scythes forward, its wings slashing up and then down in a cruel X that shears matted chunks of foliage from the chest of the Briar Beast.
She prunes it down, and while her fire never catches, her deep cuts reveal something odd.
A beating heart, deep within the tangled heap of the beast.
A kitten, curled in a tight, blackened ball.
The risen phoenix trumpets in triumph. A battlecry that sounds like a burning orchestra.
But battles are rarely one-sided, and the Kegglings scuttle to defend their broodmother. The clawing insectoids leap onto Moltres, stinging and piercing, and weighing her down. She shrieks in rage at the insult and beats her wings, taking to the skies in an attempt to fling the swarming felines from her feathers. They cling and claw, vanishing like lice beneath her plumage to savagely tear at the fresh skin beneath.
Storm clouds gather while Moltres herself glows like the sun. The black mass grinds overhead, called by Finnegan Fjord’s Rain Dance. The rain has ceased, but now there is thunder in the belly of the heavens, and it booms with hateful light, gathering.System Admin:Cygnus arrives at the edge of the Greenhouse, his shoes still smoking from his run along the Burning Trail. He heaves the G.A.Y. Cannon from his shoulder and plants it in the soft soil, angling it to have full range across the battlefield. “I’ve refueled the weapon, but it’s acting strangely. Perhaps the heat is warping the metal? There no time to troubleshoot through. We need all hands on deck if we want to avoid y̵͖̩͐m̴̤̘̓̎w̶͉͈͒͐x̸̭͈͛̓z̴̧͔͌̎n̴̩͈̓̽ẏ̷̲͎ ̷͖̉̽ḣ̶͖g̵̨̔͛ẹ̷̓̀v̷̖̠̾e̴̟̅ǐ̸̭ ̷͍͔̐̍m̷̦̟͑ė̷͍k̷̲̣̚w̸͇̒͠ ̴̠̯̈́ủ̷͜͜w̶̠̏p̷̹͑t̷͕͘ḟ̷̹s̴̝̒l̸͕̲͋.” An age-old conflict plays out before your eyes as Moltres shudders beneath the gathering storm, wracked by creatures of corruption.
When the darkness came, Birchwild Grove was the first to fall. When the curse was lifted, it was the last to return.
Now, it threatens to fall again.
Death and rebirth and death once more. A spark to a storm. Natural enemies. A single being vs a corrupted horde.
But she's not alone anymore.
