Amanita never expected manish to touch him without going through the great guilt trip of asking him first. So to say that it was surprising was an understatement when Manish tackled him practically to the ground. His arms went around the other man without hesitation, pulling him close and squeezing him tight. Giving Manish the hug that he always deserved regardless of what his father had told him. Manish deserved kindness. But Amanita didn't feel like he deserved to give it to him. Manish was a good person. And all of a sudden Amanita was reminded that he wasn't. But he didn't want to ruin the good mood for him right now. So instead he focused on the fact that he was safe and seemed to be in relatively good shape despite everything that had been happening to the pair of them. This whole event had been rough as hell and it was enough to make him reconsider how dangerous it all was. But at least it was just a game. Even if you could feel some of it outside. And even if inside events kept leaking in. His eyes were blinded by the explosion of rainbow for a moment. His mind and heart focusing a bit too much on the fact that it seemed to be a bit on the nose as he and Manish held one another for a brief moment. It felt right though. At least right now it did. When Manish pulled away from him he wondered if his Pokemon had been turned into goop too. And was now back. Did that mean Chaga was back. Disappointed that he didn't see her he looked around a little bit more. "One of my Pokemon disappeared... But she didn't come back..." Maybe it was different. Because he accidentally hit that button and that's when she disappeared. Certainly she would come back soon. "Glass? Did you get glass caught in you? And you're alright now? I called for you and thought you'd go to the garden..." Thinking that the issue with touching was all but over for the moment he took Manish's hand and turned it over. Just to make sure that his hand was actually free of the materials. "More mushroom is fine, you like mushrooms. And I just banged up my leg a little bit." But in the adrenaline of it all he'd managed to ignore the dull ache in his leg. He'd had other things to worry about. "She came from where we were! I helped heal up her egg so she could hatch."But that was all he really knew about the Moltres in earnest. That and she liked to fight or something. "Wait what happened with the unicorn? I want to know." He grinned a little bit. Letting himself relax since Manish was obviously embarrassed by the whole thing. God did he want to know what happened with the unicorn. The grin faltered a bit when Manish started to reach to touch him and then pulled away. Of course. There were still. Boundaries. But that didn't stop him from patting Manish on the head and ruffling his hair despite the hat and mushrooms. "You've done really good today Manish." And it was the truth. And Amanita meant it. For now neither of them weren't alone. Even if he was sure that he'd be homeless and even worse... Manishless... after he told him the truth. For now, they had each other. There was a bitter twist to Fairytale's lips as they watched the last of the corrupted beings go down. Sure, they had won, but they victory felt... Pyrrhic. As others began to congratulate themselves and others, Fairytale stood motionless. All they felt was cold loneliness.
Suddenly there came a cheery, warm voice: <<Wow, you got far! I barely managed to find you!>> An utterly familiar voice. It was Padma.
For a moment, Fairytale could only stare blankly at the Bulbasaur. They felt tears well up in their eyes, though they did not let the teardrops fall. All three of their pokemon were staring at them with concern. <<Are you alright...?>> Padma questioned, genuine concern in her voice.
And Fairytale...
They smiled, genuine and warm. "Never better."
Because so long as they were here in this game, so was her spirit here alongside them. In UNOVR, they would never be alone.

It was the birth of a sun viewed through the prismatic chaos of a kaleidoscope. It was the eruption of a fractured rainbow, a polychromatic star consuming the horizon in a tide of searing colour as it went supernova. It was the ascent of a god, the emanation of a being so puissant, so intensely potent that reality strained to contain it. It was glorious, awesome in the antiquated, true definition of the word.
It was Molres.
Only such a soul-shuddering event as the manifestation of a Legendary Pokemon could possibly have hoped to dominate the attention of all that were lost to the chaos of such maddened battle, grasping their attention and wrenching it towards the phoenix as inexorably as the embrace of death. Unavoidable, irresitable. Bronze stared at the creature, bathed in the dawning light of its glorious flight, too awe-struck to speak, to move, to think. His Pokemon were much the same, frozen mid-combat so that they resembled a sculptor's flawless monument to valiant defiance in the face of overwhelming odds.
Odds that had just turned in their favour.
Willing himself to focus, Bronze pulled his gaze from the majesty of Moltres with torturous effort, peeling his eyes from it with the grimace of a man stripping layers of his own skin. The enemy would not wait for them to gather themselves, and so there was no time for shock, no time to truly marvel. There was only time for battle.
'Not,' Bronze thought bitterly to himself, 'That I can impact it in any meaningful way.' His Pokemon were doing their best, of course, and he would not fault them for that - they had been with him only a day or so, and it would be unfair to compare them to the Pokemon of those that had been training for longer. No, his dissatisfaction was not aimed at his companions, but at himself. He felt powerless as he simply stood there, watching his friends fight. Doing nothing more than bearing witness to the heroic efforts of those gathered, lacking the capacity to make a difference with his own two hands - Such as orioncayge had been doing all along. Bronze felt a pang of conflicted, twisting feeling as he watched the younger man pour everything he had into the fight, into defending his friends with such ferocity and passion that it near rivalled the blaze that radiates from Moltres herself. Envy. Hollow impotence.
Determination.
He would find a way to do as Orion did. He would not stop until he could stand beside his companions in even the most terrible of conflicts, could shield others and grind the enemy beneath his heel. But for now, he could do nothing more than watch. Alone. Isolated. It seemed that almost everyone present here knew one another. Bronze could almost see the bonds that tethered them to one another, ephemeral chains, ribbons and threads of every hue and texture linking soul to soul, heart to heart. Yet he had no such bonds. As always.
His brooding came to an abrupt halt, thrown off its tracks by the onset of yet more unnatural light, this time from the lambent, arcane sigil that self-manifested from the ashes. Eyes of polished amber regarded C0D13:Bethany2 for a long moment, burning like pits of sullen fire within the craggy, graven pits the shadow made of his face, his expression as unmoving as stone. 'No soul exists in isolation.' She had said those very words to him before - he had thought them a reference to Kraxus, the Mudbray he had bargained with her for. Perhaps not. 'Bonded.' Were they? Was there such a connection tethering them to one another, tenuous and phantasmal as spun shadow?
"Witch. I-"
What he may have said was lost, scattered by the lunging snarl of a keggling that has slipped past his Pokemon, the warped star-stinger of its tail lashing forward to strike at the satin-draped bargainer of souls. A massive, mountainously knuckled hand plucked it from the air by the glutinous scruff of its neck, Bronze's other hand intercepting the tail and holding it taut. Quiet, black fury boiled in his gaze, the man's mouth compressed into a sword-slash line of immense displeasure. His voice was cold as the death of stars as he intoned, "You are unworthy to touch upon so atramentous a soul, wretch." Hurling it towards Adonitus, the Duraludon snagged the unfortunate abomination in both gleamings, clawed hands. "The reward for your audacity is death. Begone."
Pitiless steel pressed together, crushing the keggling between unyielding power as steadily as the wreck of a car beneath the titanic force of a compactor, viscous, tar-like fluid spurting out to ooze through the crevices of Adonitus's shining fingers. Then something more repugnant still drew Bronze's attention.
"Boy." The older man's lined face twisted in contempt, disgust carved upon his harsh features in the curl of his upper lip as he spoke to h0lyn3v1l in a voice like grinding plates of stone. "You are embarrassing yourself. Comport yourself with dignity, or be silent."
With that, he folded his arms across his powerfully built chest, turning away from the youth as if he had ceased utterly to exist, focusing upon that which was more worthy of his attention - namely Gothic Bethany and his Pokemon, who had emerged from the fray thusfar without falling victim to the foulness of the Corruption. "You have my thanks, Witch. I owe you a debt."

Bulby opened his eyes. He blinked, and felt how dehydrated he was because his eyelids threatened to stick down. He shook his head, and felt like throwing up.
What a hangover.
He had a vague dream of hunting down a… day? A Tuesday ? And then getting tossed around by althaea 's Cael. But that couldn't have happened. That would be crazy.
He sat up and looked around. Comically, all of the boss fighting, dramatic tension, and healing, was happening just behind him.
"Bulby!" Came a little voice. Grookey bounded up to him, covered in burns.
"Hey, man."
"Bulby, baby, what a party baby!"
"Oh, dude, how much did we drink," Bulby chuckled. "That was a wild night."
"Best party ever, baby!"
"Where's Kath?"
"Kath! Baby!" Grookey called. He scratched at the charcoal up and down his body. "Ouch! Kath!"
They searched the battlefield. It used to be a Greenhouse, but the amount of damage to it had turned it into a No Mon's Land, complete with fennekinholes and remnants of a Koffing's mustard gas.
Then they found her.
"Treecko?" Bulby frowned. "When'd you get here?"
"Hey baby!" Grookey said happily. "Where's Kath?"
Treecko stared at them. She held a pokeball in her hands, and had a strap of pokeballs around her body like a bandolier. They looked like Kath's pokeballs.
Drill and Psyduck limped toward them all, supporting each other in their weakened states.
"Psyduck," Psyduck rolled his eyes when he saw Grookey.
But Drill was looking at Treecko.
"What did you do?" He asked.
Treecko looked around. She was amongst friends. Or, she was surrounded.
"Kath is no longer our master," she said, trying to subdue the shake in her voice. "I have put her in a pokeball, much as she did to us."
Grookey's face dropped. Bulby started to snarl.
Drill looked back and forth, eyes dilating. Psyduck said "Psyduck?"
"She kidnapped me from my home," Treecko said. "She kidnapped you all from yours, too. There is no goodness in being a servant to a fool with too much power."
"We can do that?" Drill asked.
"Psyduck?"
"Who the hell is we?" Bulby growled.
"Baby?"
"Together," Treecko said, trying to find the words that would sound the best. "Together we can form a new society, a new way of life for pokemon, a safe haven away from the madness. A place where we don't have to fight for the entertainment or glory of others. A place where we can call home."
"Man, you messed up," said Bulby.
"Psyduck…" Psyduck said.
"No she does not have a point," Bulby snapped.
"Yes she does," said Drill.
"Baby, no."
Treecko put Kath's pokeball back in the bandolier, where it would stay. She pulled out Bulby's.
"Bulby. You'll be welcome with us. But don't try to fight."
"Give me Kath!" Bulby's vines whipped out from his back. "TREECKO!"
Treecko's hand was already up, and Bulby was RECALLED in a flash of white light.
Drill gasped, and laughed a little bit too from the shock and awe. A pokemon weilding the power of the pokeballs. This was new to him.
"Psyduck!" Psyduck said, alarmed.
Treecko turned to Grookey.
His eyes were red and wet, filled with pain not just from the burns.
"Grookey, we can figure this out," said Treecko, but he'd already dashed forward.
He didn't even have a weapon out. He was just grabbing for Kath and Bulby.
GROOKEY WAS RECALLED.
Treecko held his pokeball with a shaking hand. She returned it to the bandolier, and try to subdue the trembling.
"How about you two?" She asked, slowly looking at them. "Are you with me?"
"Yeah, you got it boss," Drill said carefully. "When there's a drill there's a way."
"Psy… psyduck," Psyduck nodded.
But what Treecko saw in their eyes was not loyalty, but fear. Fear that she would turn on them, the moment they crossed her. Fear that was well founded.
Because she hadn't just crossed the lines that pokemon would never dare cross.
She crossed the lines of the heart.
And Treecko realised, there on the battlfield, that she was truly, unequivocally alone.

Her vision went white.
She was pretty sure it didn't hurt as badly as it would have in real life, perhaps some safety feature of the Worldscreen VR. But she could barely focus as the world slowly came back into focus. She hadn't felt something like that since- Well, she'd rather not dwell on it.
In fact, there was no time to focus on the pain, not as she made the sacrifice and prayer.
The egg beats in a heartbeat, and it's all she can do to shield her eyes from the explosion of rainbow shrapnel and flame.
She struggles to look up at the Moltres as it unfurled its wings, blazing infernos of raw untapped potential and power. This was different. This wasn't Groudon granting them his power like the last raid, this was Moltres themselves coming out of their shell to fight, and the tension in the air was real. Awe overwhelmed her as she imagined if this is what it would be like to stand before a god. If there was one thing UNOVR did right, it made the Legendary Pokemon feel absolutely deific.
And then Moltres began to speak. Laguna's first instinct was to immediately scream vile profanities at the god, but that wouldn't do them any good. Their lives meant so little. Just a sacrifice, like any other. They only cared about fighting, and for a brief moment, she wanted to snap.
And then she saw the pyramid of pale flame, burning brightly as it formed from behind her wings and the tears immediately began to pour.
She seemed so beautiful. Her spirit burned so brightly, passionately, ready to continue the fight no matter what. She was surrounded by a few other spirits, but Glacia was the only one she cared about. Never had she looked so powerful, more capable, more everything. Her prayer had come true. May her spirit join and protect the land, burning just as bright. She should have known better than to think Glacia would ever just give up on the fight.
Laguna swore she could hear Bergmite crying out amidst the chaos, even as Moltres and the other spirits flew towards the greenhouse, burning heat blazing a path towards victory.
Thinking about it, maybe conflict wasn't so bad after all.
"She always was the brightest young soul," Roxanne spoke solemnly and Laguna immediately nodded her head. It was odd, considering Roxanne was younger than Glacia, but oh well. She'd figure out these dynamics later.
Almost immediately, she quickly bounded up the Onix's back and gripped onto the harness that had wrapped around a few of their stones as her Ride Pokemon.
"I don't know about you two," Laguna spoke, the fear, the apprehension, all audible in her voice. But now there was something more powerful in it too. Hope. They couldn't let Glacia have all the fun. "But it's time to let Seta know we're sending him a few visitors tonight! Time to raise some hell." Laguna shouted a battle cry and her two remaining Pokemon charged into battle with her, speeding down the road with an intense rush.
It was chaos on the other side of the battlefield, and everyone was playing their part. Moltres and the spirits struck the corrupted beast, and players began to follow suit. But one thing she wasn't prepared for was all the recognizable NPCs. Bunya, Chadwick, Gothic Bethany, and even some people's Rivals. They were out here risking their lives all the same, and she couldn't help but smile. Everyone was here. Everyone was giving their all. After being so focused on herself, on her Pokemon, and her sacrifice, it felt refreshing. Nobody was alone. Everyone was in this together, and that sense of camaraderie had her soul swell. Even her French friend h0lyn3v1l finally arrived!
"Content que tu aies pu venir, mon ami!" Laguna shouted from atop her Onix as it sped straight into the mess of the fight and right past him. Her face was a mess, covered in blood, bruises, and tears, but she hardly even thought to care about anything like that right now. "Sors d'ici et va botter des culs!" And just like that, she sped past like some fury in the night, with no chance for an extended conversation.
Laguna was much more focused on a bigger threat. Those storm clouds were bad news, and she had a plan for those too. "Sir Hail! Sheer Cold! Send those storm clouds packing with a cold front! Roxanne, Dragon Breath again! Blow them all away with the might of your fury!"
"As you command." "Of course, Auntie."
Laguna slid down the back of the Onix as it let loose a terrifying gust. A strong breeze picked up, blowing past as her Cryogonal formed such an intense freezing wind. Explosions of light and color echoed as the G.A.Y. Beam exploded, bright flames burning up above, Kegglings shredded by the force of everyone working together. In fact, it was only now that she realized people's Pokemon were no longer corrupted, and a smile of intense relief washed over her. Everything would be fine in time.
But for now, it was time to keep fighting with every breath, until the very last. After all, the battle might be close to being won, but the war against corruption was only beginning.
Maybe being a Knight of Mythstar wouldn't be so bad. She could see the appeal.

At the asking of…h0lyn3v1l if she’s seen a French girl around anywhere, and apparently being quite a big deal, Butterfly would shake her head, one ear swivelled to face him, the other focusing on the sounds of battle. “No, I haven’t seen a girl like that any-”
“But don’t worry, mon amour, I can also save you from these nasty beasts! There's plenty of me to go around.”
Butterfly’s expression would be a genuine mixture of confusion and amusement. Amusement at the attempted use of French, and utter confusion at the mention of being his…love? What?
“…I think you meant the term, mon amie, my friend. For you are a friend!”
Nevil has been cast into the friend zone. Or at least, an attempt has been had to do so.
“…but don’t worry - I can take care of myself for now!” Meanwhile, Caesar, Washington and Elizabeth were making sure no other Kegglings remained as their trainer watched in amazement as everybody worked together to destroy these things.
Sure, in the morning, she’s likely going to have a massive headache from being on the WorldScreen for too long...
but right now, she can push that aside. So long as they keep fighting, they’ll win this.

THE RUSH OF THOSE WITH CORRUPTED POKEMON having themselves cleansed and returned to battle brought up these overwhelming emotions and thoughts of togetherness within Vincent, in a way that had him feel like they were truly all in this together and that with their little VMMORPG community, the collective was impossible to defeat. Vincent beamed, even when Tuesday was harassing him.
'What a tool.' Vincent couldn't help but think that this strange girl filled with power both irked him to no end but also made him feel like there was something where maybe she cared about him? Besides, Vincent had to remember that her avatar wasn't at all what she looked like in real life. She probably was some dude in a basement enjoying the feeling of stomping newbs in a game that didn't matter.
Wednesday, his Gothita reached up towards the mythical bird in awe and from Vincent's hand outstretched her own with as much energy as she could muster. She sent out as best heal as she could to heal the bird back up, knowing that any little bit could help.
"Good job, Weds. I'm glad you're back." Holding onto his Gothita tight as his fellow pokemon closed tight with Vincent, the four of them as a unit were ready for whatever was next.

THREAT: 7 | INSIGHT: 0 | ZONE 1 The endless tangles of the Briar Beast were a stage through which orioncayge powered into without pause. He could not be stopped, though he could be harmed all the same. Resolve could still be shattered through pain, and thus it was a race against his own morale to reach the heart of the Beast. This desperate climb was one that did not go un-noticed by the monster itself. As Orion climbed, the looming shadow of defending limbs crept over his person-and surely their owners would do the same. The briars moved to swat the mortal man apart from the god's back. He could not die, but he could still hurt--and he could tell that this would hurt quite a lot.
"You've done a right spotless job until now, eh? Good work."
Surprisingly, the pain did not come to be. There was a great slam, along with the sound of punctured flesh, yet this was all he heard. A glance up revealed all that happened. The great frame of Machamp stood tall above him-as well as one other, countless briars wrapped up in his four arms to hold the beast in place. The hand of Lucky Guy laid gently on Orion's shoulder, encouragingly spurring his friend on even as the corners of his shirt turned to gold beneath his fingertips.
"It's just a little bit longer 'till we reach the end. Let's go."
The climb was no longer the journey of a hero-it was one of friends, each no longer alone on their journey. The once-cruel and whipping thorns were stayed by the toxins of Skydow's powder and the harrowing presence of the empty shell that flew beside him. This weakness in the vines allowed Pluto to keep hold of the many vines, a respite to both the climbers and Moltres, who was once underneath a constant onslaught.
Moltres.
Lucky couldn't help but look back once again. The sight of the titan spurred many things in Lucky, least of all the many memories of his time at the stormy plains' shrine. Perhaps, one day, a reckoning would come from that shrine, as well? If such a day were to come, would the beast residing within remember his many challenges to the sky?
He hoped that he would remain in the game to see that far off day. But for now, all Lucky could do was to make sure that Orion would make it to the end of this one.

Viciously, suddenly, he pulls inari close again.
"Don't forget us, my Prince." Is pleaded from Corruption stained lips. Those same lips that he uses to crush against the other's mouth again in another super gay kiss. The flood of that energy hits him, the CORRUPTION KING briar wings and crown fall away. His player model is sticky and dirty but mostly looks the same as before.
He comes to his senses still in a lip lock with Inari. Little hearts pop from his model as the Couple class Unlock finally takes full effect. Furrlicity, this whole time, had thought he and Inari were alone fighting monsters. Only now does he see that he had been trying to fight his friends the whole time.
Crawling from where he had fallen, Impadimp coughs out a ball of soot before rejoining Pretzel and Cottonee.

NOONLIGHT RAID: CONCLUSIONIf you open your heart to the world, you will never run out of reasons to fight for itThe Briar Beast grows. It gulps Corruption thirstily, tendrils rippling and expanding ever-outwards. Autumn-red light glows from the massive X carved into its center, a notch in the head of a screw that begs the world to turn it back.
Reverse the curse.
Destroy the Briar Beast.
Moltres was supposed to be the new Mother. How could she betray them like this?
Instinctively drawn to the glowing weak spot, players aim for the gap. Briars continue to rustle and extend in all directions, pulling away from its feline core with a sick, sucking sound. orioncayge is taken prisoner by the thorns, immortal yet immobile, half-encased in the hole he himself dug with fists and fury. His Pokemon fight to free him even as others surge forward, tearing at the foliage with claws and jaws and elemental ire.
They tear it down, wear it down, pull the vine-stumps from its shoulders and bring the monster to its misshapen knees. A final Sand Attack from Moon Bunny’s Torchic weaves and trickles its way through the thicket, binding. Blinding.
Its HP falls to zero.
Through the cross-shaped keyhole, Allotta reaches for the cat.
The Briar Beast falls with the weight of a forest, nettle-covered vines striking the dust and soil like piling timbers. Kegglings scatter in panicked waves from its steaming, fallen form, but are swiftly hunted down and dealt with.
“We did it! We saved the Settlement!” System Admin:Bunyaa exclaims. The pint-sized scientist runs forward, pouncing nimbly over strewn glass shards and discarded knives to kneel next to the pile of disintegrating lawn trimmings. “Nyeh-heh-heh, I gotta get a sample of this stuff!”
Nearby, System Admin:Cygnus stoops over the remnants of the G.A.Y Beam. It lays smoking on the ground where Vincent tossed it, maroon energy still crackling around its outer casing. “Hmm,” the older man muses, stroking his mustache. “The energy seems to have overloaded.” He casts his gaze around the assembled players. Many of them bear faint traces of shifting, prismatic light, much like the Ascended Moltres. “Some of you may have picked up trace elements in the blast. Ha! There’s no shame in that. All the more powerful!”
The storm clouds overhead rumble, a reminder of events set into motion. Lightning crackles in forked tongues as THUNDER shakes the skies, wracking Moltres with the power of Finn’s summoned storm. For a moment, multi-hued wings fold. She stalls in the air, smoke rising from her feathers with the bitter stench of burning leaves.
Yet she endures. Eyes snap open as brass and birdsong crash through your eardrums, a victorious trumpet that pierces your soul.
“Today, we triumph!” From the smoking hole at the heart of the Briar Beast, Allotta Bambooga retrieves something from the remnants. Its form is half-transparent and she holds it in her hands like a sheet of gauze, unnaturally light, unnaturally pale.
It’s Monarch, Finnegan Fjord’s Shinx, reduced to phantom form. When returned to its master, Finn will find it soundless, speechless, and ever-present. The shell of something used and thrown away.
"You've got something that belongs to me."
It waits in THE EVERWORLD, for rescue or rejection. You have reached the ending.
First came the sunlight, then came the storm. Then came the rainbow, fitting of form.
Lightning. Crash. Briars. Smash.
Who wins the war? Who wins the war?
War favors the bold, and favors the rash— sails up with the sun, then sets with a flash.
This is your day, but not your war.
If so, who are you fighting for?
Not for the cub, and not for the King. Not for the Keg or the spawn that sting.
But as Moltres knows, nothing ever truly ends. Each story gives birth to another, each Raid leads to a new road, each path a new promise. Each battle sparks another, a cycle of violence that ignites again, and again, and again. No fortress falls forever. No darkness perishes in dawn. Permanence is an illusion, a shadow cast by candle flame to mesmerize the minds of mortals. Corruption remains in this world, and it time it will creep back, heart by heart, thorn by thorn, keg by keg.
But this is not a cautionary tale.
It is one of VICTORY.
Smoke rising from her feathers, Moltres turns and soars away, over the Birchwild Grove. Behind her she leaves a trail of shimmering ash, and sings a dirge, a battle-hymn, a swan song trembling with triumph.
