Morgana gasped involuntarily as pink ribbons unfurled from the center of her chest, lashing and tangling with those of the woman on the far side of the stone circle. While the effect was mostly visual, she couldn't help but imagine some kind of pain, some pressure, some tug at the heartstrings connecting her with diva. But she was not the type to show weakness. When all the others had finished, she made the first move. A question. A challenge. They were the star-crossed, the bearers of the fallen constellations. She was sure they hadn't just been connected by accident. This was fate. This was destiny. Not to be together— to see which one of them deserved to stand at the top. "Turn your gazes to the heavens, Crawling, clustered, star and shine Who loves who? And what divides them? I've told your part: now tell me mine."The order rang out, and after her partner answered, Bergamot spoke back up almost immediately, her voice high, clear, ringing with challenge. A strange triumph shone in her eyes, as if she was actually trying to goad diva into playing her part of the story. "I have stepped through starry skyfields, I've never seen a drake so shy The birds and bees themselves will steal Your chance, you need not even try."Before Diva could reply, Bergamot stole a second stanza, gesturing animatedly. "Sing for me, o wingless Draco Answer me: but at what cost? Scorpio's tail could be your ladder, Pray, bear the sting before he's lost."After Diva responded in kind, Bergamot's eyes strayed from her partner as she turned towards the 'audience' - the moon-spirit and the other competitors. She held her star in one hand like a beacon. "And so was said, through doom and dread Though Scorpio twinkled overhead, Ne'er the bold, he bowed his head. The wingless Draco fell instead."
"So let my words sting, one last time: Answer thus, by pain of rhyme One last conclusion, I beseech: What ending will our hero reach?"One final question rang out into the night, going unanswered. Morgana's smile curved like a crescent moon. She had a feeling the answer, whatever it was, had yet to be decided.

Morgana didn't need a special boon for having her Pokemon be the most bloodied in the sudden flurry of round-robin violence. She already had a star for being #1, and she certainly wasn't giving it to a fainted Pokemon (Piplup) who couldn't even appreciate it. She wasn't sure whether that fell under the rules of selfishness or not, but she wouldn't risk it just yet.
So as Guillotine lay fainted in the dust with an arrow through her heart, Bergamot's Gyarados orbited above her head, trailing from the top of her standing stone like a giant ponytail. The size display glitch it had used to have had been reported during the High Tide Raid, so it was back to its normal, easily targetable size.
It was no surprise Finn's Shinx sent a Thundershock arching their way.
It was no surprise Tuesday's Cryogonal lashed out as well, after being marked for death.
Morgana the 100% support player gave a low, menacing laugh as she pulled the world's least surprising ace from her healer-build sleeve.
"Rainbow, Jack, buff yourselves! Before Guillotine's remains begin to smell!"
Guillotine almost came back from the dead to give Morgana a Look, like maybe she should be a little more grateful for the penguin's efforts at towing her all around the coastline during Beta before flying was banned. But Guillotine had been gunned down early by a Decidueye arrow, so there was no chance at Morgana facing social consequences.
In response to Morgana's order, both Gyarados and Mudkip shimmered with reflective light for a moment, appearing more formidable despite the damage they'd already taken.
"I summon thee with healing light! Heal these wounds of sparks and night! Singe the lightning-scars away Soothe the darkness, plus, be gay!"
<Peep?!>
"Don't be homophobic, Jack. ...I asked you to heal, not to talk back."
Rather than turning towards their opponents, Jack and Rainbow turned towards each other.
{MORGANA'S ULTIMATE HEALING MOVE} Heal on Gyarados (Water Gun) ogErScV34d12 + 40 (Buff) + 40 (Mudkip Rare) + 20 (Swimmer T2) = 129 TOTAL
Heal on Mudkip (Brine) 4d12 + 40 (Buff) + 40 (Blue Magikarp Rare) +20 (Swimmer T2) = 125 TOTAL As the duo shot healing jets of water over her head like firemen trying to put out a blaze, Bergamot called over the sputtering and dribbling sounds.
"Then, not to seem uninspired To show I'm listening (just tired) The tithe is paid, the blood is spent, The wounds of all are all well-meant Their stones are cold, their bonds are weak, What next does Chanda Mama seek?"

Morgana was fixated on the delicious-looking star that had fallen like her own private Lucky Charms marshmallow right next to her foot. "I want to eat it!" she cried, then remembered the rule no selfish eating."—But I'll have to cheat it! Mudkip, open up, my little pup~"Mudkip backed away like a dog faced with medicine as Morgana came towards him with the star at arm's length. "Use that trap for something good! Eat the star, you lump of wood!"<Peep peep PEEP PEEP...>It wasn't selfish if Morgana gave it to someone else, right? It was a brilliant plan, but Mudkip was too blind or stubborn or something to appreciate its good fortune. It kept backing up until Morgana was forced to retreat for fear it would leave the acceptable vicinity of her standing stone. Still holding onto her marshmallow star, Bergamot gave up and returned to the prospect of choosing the moon-spirit's next victim. "Eyes, crossed!" she crossed her eyes, "All's not lost!" she used her fingers to wiggle her nose, since she lacked that particular skill, "Tuesday's got a date with Faust!"The catgirl's aggro rap sonnet and limerick were in vivid contrast to Morgana's childish chanting, which was more like a jumprope rhyme than anything really structured. "I have a star, to none on par! Single me out, single me far! Chanda Mama said to pick - the - very - best - one - and - you - are - not - it!"She pointed at manish, who was already set up to be the martyr, and her finger continued on to land on Tuesday. "Sit, sit! It fits the bit! Tuesday's filled with wicked wit! Why choose based on an HP Bar? When these bars sing of will and war!"

"Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha!"
Morgana cackled, then cackled again (rhyming with her first cackle.) Being told the rules mostly made her want to eat something selfishly, but she restrained the impulse. No sense needlessly defying authority. Yet.
She did not desire to leave her standing stone. No, she felt a connection to it. The stone sang in her blood. The feeling of it against her bare arms swept goosebumps across her skin like Braille. She'd protect it with Mudkip's life.
<Peep peep?!>
"No going back, foolish Jack," Bergamot said, eyes fixed on the lifelike moon spirit who'd taken its place at the heart of the stone circle. The fires had moved outside the ring, trapping them within its burning iris. "Moon-spirit, call on me! I shall give your nombres three!" Did that mean names or numbers? Whatever, it wasn't like the creature spoke Spanish.
"One, my name is Chryssa G! Two, my love is all for me! Three— and listen close, as one— I name the moon-child Imbrium!"
Her voice rippled out like a Shakespearean actor and she made a mic drop motion like this was actually a rap battle, flashing a smug look towards the others at their standing stones. Bergamot cared not for revealing her first name in the game— anyone bold enough to track her down in real life would surely be more interesting than her usual droll days rolling around in her dressing room.
She'd heard the name Imbrium in a book, and knew it was one of the named seas on the moon. Did she google that? No. Bergamot never googled anything. She was a genius, a font of information, and definitely hadn't gotten the Braille wrong on the way to this moonlit seance in the first place.
She was going to win.

"Of course I can read it—" Bergamot paused, forgetting which Titanic-themed reference she'd named her Mudkip during the High Tide Raid, "—Jack." She was sure that wasn't it. She peeled back her long white gloves, revealing normal human fingers that she trailed up and down the bumps on the stones. She caressed them like bumpy women, feeling their curves, their smooth faces. <Peep peep boop boop.>"Silence, Jack."The Mudkip fell mournfully into line, tagging along at her heel like a dog at his master's side. And if once or twice his paws left the ground and swam freely over a dip in the path, or a stray boulder, well, that was just something dogs did. Morgana, for her part, waltzed through the Grove without a care in the world. She twirled past pale-barked trees. She stooped to collect falling water from a miniature waterfall, then flicked it at Mudkip. <Peep peep...?> Mudkip shook himself, saliva flying from his jowls, and blinked up at his mistress. "It said, 'Don't follow the signs,'" Bergamot said, then pointed up between the trees. "Follow the moon."Morgana was a bullshitter, but in only the realest way. Why bother signing out of the game and going to google Braille when she could just make up whatever she wanted? The Grove knew what it wanted, anyway. And who wouldn't want Morgana? She was a delight. She found herself climbing the hill, dew collecting on her stilettos, Mudkip slithering along beside her. Her breath hitched in her throat, rough and raw, drawn relentlessly towards the standing stones and bonfire they circled. "Just a little further, Jack," she panted, eyes fixed on her prize. "A little further, and you'll see... they'll all see..."<Boop boop,> Mudkip said unhappily, stopping as they reached the crown of the hill. Morgana had stopped, pressing her back against the closest standing stones as if being strapped into a carnival ride. From all around in the darkness, Mudkip could see the bodies of other humans appearing, arranging themselves in the same manner. Were they hypnotized? Mudkip reared up on his back legs and pushed on the closest standing stone with all his might, trying to break the spell on the strange, forest clearing. The rock didn't budge. Beneath his paws, he could feel the strange bumps again. Human messages. What did they say? <Peep peep boop boop!>This time, Bergamot didn't shush him. She just smiled, wide as the moon. 1 piplup, gyarados, mudkip

"How fortunate that I too am a tiny, willowy imp," Bergamot said, getting down on her hands and knees to investigate the chalk outline. The door was not so small she had to play Alice in Wonderland to fit through, but it was still fun to pretend she was smaller than she was. She craned her head, brown tresses brushing the forest floor.
With the tip of one finger, she knocked pretentiously on the bark of the chalk outline door.
"You who wither in, within! Let Bergamot Gristleborg in!"
She lay on her stomach like a teenage girl talking to her friends on the phone, legs waving behind her, thinking about how she should try again.
"Perhaps I need a Pokemon."
That was the logical thought.
"Or perhaps I need a potion."
That was the less logical thought.
She looked around herself, not bothering to actually stand up to search. Finding nothing potion-worthy within arm's reach, she scraped away a layer of dead leaves until she found the dark topsoil, digging two fingers into it and hooking out a clump of soft, moist black earth. She mixed it on the back of her hand, then plucked a feather from her Rowlet to make a quill.
"This ought to do it."
With the feather as a paintbrush, thinking of the scene as a set from a play, Bergamot drew action lines around the door and an "opening" arrow.
"Let's try that again," she said, tossing the feather aside and resting her chin on top of her Rowlet like a small cushion as she gazed at the little fairy door. Her eyes gleamed. "You who wither in, within! Let Bergamot Gristleborg in!"
To make her wish come true, she closed her eyes.

The battle was anticlimactic. Perhaps she should have realized that: the Rowlet stood little chance with two Pokemon facing off against it. Still, Bergamot refused to accept the simple answer. "Easy... too easy," Bergamot said ominously, eyes narrowing. "What does this mean? Is Hydance trying to bait us to catch these low-level wild Pokemon to fill up our storage boxes so we have to buy premium currency to expand?!"Morgana had gotten into conspiracy theories lately and was determined to find evidence of Hydance manipulation in just about everything. "Rowlet. Canopy. Honey. Stranger," she said aloud, separating each word with a mental line of red string. "You there! Were you in the Beta Raid?" That Yamask was no starter Pokemon, so either he'd hatched it from the Rookery or he'd been pre-programmed with it like an NPC. Her Pokeball dinged in her UI, reminding her she could make a capture. There was only one Rowlet, but she'd learned recently the system allowed players to catch a duplicate of a fainted wild Pokemon. She wondered if she and this man's Rowlets would be identical in personality, too. "Pokeball, go!"

"Like taking candy from a baby," Bergamot whispered to herself, smearing honey on another half-deleted tree. She'd been told it would attract wild Pokemon, a necessary feature given the fact that half of them were probably falling through square-shaped holes in the jungle floor. Light glinted off of stone and Morgana looked up, narrowing her eyes. That's no grass Pokemon, she thought. She reached forward to separate the masking foliage, peeking out of a bush. Another person, she realized. That was surprising: at this stage of the game, most of the original Beta Players were just waiting for the rest of the game to officially open. She'd assumed she would be the only one out here grinding for last-minute starters. NPC or player? An NPC might give her a quest. A player might play with her. Then her eyes tracked upwards. A Rowlet was perched in a tree branch above the man's head. What?! It hadn't wanted her honey? "This is bullshit!" she announced, scaring the Rowlet. The owl fluttered down, attempting to escape into the deep jungle. Morgana burst out into the path in front of the person. "After it, Celine!"Celine, Bergamot's (now water-type) Shinx bounded after the flying-type, loosing a little Thunder Shock to keep the bird from flying too far up into the Canopy. Bergamot spun around, pointing directly at Inari with eyes alight. "Aid me now, traveler!" she announced, "Lest we both perish and fall by the wayside (or some such)."

"You're not a murderer, they're murderers," Morgana said to manish, exasperated, and waved towards the carnage Kath Ulu's grass-type Pokemon were performing nearby. It was lucky Morgana didn't put any particular sanctity in eggs, not until they hatched. If there was an actual moral component she was sure the Everworld would already be knocking. She meant to correct Manish and inform him his hat-wearing Venonat was not the larvae she'd been looking for, but he seemed happy enough. Instead she stooped down to pick up the empty Pokeball, crossing the shell-strewn path. She stopped before Kath Ulu, then extended her hand with the capsule as if to return it. "I continue to find you fascinating, Kath Ulu," the villainess said softly as the Pokeball left her hand. "Won't you join my Dark Sisterhood? There's a place at my side for those who deal in the underhanded, the underappreciated, the under...croft." She pulled a face and continued. "You don't have to hang out with 'Sarah Lee'... she doesn't understand you like I do. I see the chaos. I see the greed."Morgana's voice dropped to a sultry murmur. She stroked the orange egg Guillotine had just toddled up with. "Isn't that right... Larvitar."The shell cracked, revealing a pair of orange antennae and a baby bonnet. "...The gift of prophecy is not one of my talents," Bergamot continued seamlessly as the baby Corphish waved its claws, "But the gift of people is."She watched Kath Ulu not like a hawk, but like a human, gauging her intent.

Morgana raised her Eyebrow of Superiority as if she couldn't understand what about her team of Piplup, Gyarados, and low-tier Magikarp needed revision. "Snooping is just another word for Sleuthing, as Nancy Drew said," she quoted to Sarah Lee, "How else am I supposed to know what's worth stealing?"She turned away, focusing back on her newfound minion. It was more important to keep Manish in the know. He would be no use to her if he didn't even know the Pokemon she was looking for. "A Larvitar," Bergamot breathed, inching closer, "Is a larvae."She didn't have time to finish. Bergamot was distracted as Guillotine went sailing past her, wrestling a flying Salandit. "Guillotine Flatflipper! Get it together!" she exclaimed indignantly, then swiveled back to Manish. "As I was saying..."What was that he was holding? "It can't be," Bergamot breathed as she saw it. Little lights reflected in her eyes, as if staring at a giant disco ball. "Is that..."Manish was holding an egg. A... Larvitar egg?! "Manish, put the egg down," Bergamot said softly, "And back slowly away... before I... snatch it for myself!"Wh-chkkk! The sound of a cracking whip snapped through the air as she flared her skirts, sending a bolt of fabric forward to ensnare the egg and bring it home to her arms in a single fluid movement. Unfortunately, dresses didn't work that way, so she just flapped her dress back and forth a little.

As Manish searched for eggs to rescue, the closest egg in front of him cracked. Bergamot Gristleborg rose from within, shaking off her eggshell-thin disguise like a triumphant, girl-shaped yolk. "Oh ho ho ho!" she laughed, covering her mouth with the back of one hand. She was smugly pleased with herself. "I assume you assumed I was an egg, when in reality it is I, Bergamot Gristleborg!"She realized she knew the man who'd de-shelled her and put her hands on her hips. "Oh, it's you. Excellent, you can help me. I'm looking for a Larvitar," she said, knowing a potential minion when she saw one, "I heard some other, LOSER people were looking for one, so I naturally must find it first and steal it for myself. Chop chop!"She made chopping hand gestures as she shook the remnants of giant eggshell off her legs and looked around. manish's massive Venusaur was keeping a tide of Pokemon bandits at bay. Her eyes narrowed. She didn't care for secondary antagonists. Not one bit. "Eliminate them," she said, sending out Guillotine the Piplup. "Chop chop!" Morgana made more energetic hand chopping gestures as the Piplup hurried forward to provide backup, opting to buff Ryan instead of actually doing any chopping of her own.

"Hello, Mother," Bergamot said, sailing in the door like a multimillion-dollar yacht. She waved the woman off with a white-gloved hand. "Yes, I already know about Father. Died in a border skirmish. Tragic.""You know he's just a prisoner of war," Mom began, confused, but was immediately brushed aside by the line of NPCs behind Morgana bearing bags of offbrand doritos, red sippy cups, and hot dog buns. "...Bergamot Gristleborg, who are these people?!""I found these generic mooks loitering in the starting town," Bergamot said, gesturing dismissively towards the conga line of blank, bland faces. She'd really done it this time: most relevant NPCs had a full artificial intelligence built in, but Morgana had somehow recruited the entire population of mindless "background people" for the party. How she'd convinced them to leave their 5x5 walking pattern and follow her was a mystery. "...Where's the boys?" "Your brothers are in the back yard," Mom said, managing to tear her gaze away from the fifteen pairs of muddy NPC boots in her clean hallway. "This is quite the celebration, isn't it?""Celebration?" Bergamot echoed, distracted. Her eyes, clear like lightning, drifted to the woman. "Oh no, Mother. This is war."She swept through the house and onto the back porch, haughty gaze landing on the full party roster of orioncayge and Big Bee. She stopped dead, hands on her hips. "Oh no. This can not be it," she said scathingly, pulling up her messages immediately and clicking global PM. "I'm calling for backup immediately."Morgana turned to the mooks still clustering behind her. "Line up in front of the gate like it's an exclusive VIP event," she ordered, shooing them into position. "I want this party to be big. I'll start crafting the silverware."She pulled up her Crafting Set and got to work hammering out an iron ingot. Loudly. There was actually no crafting mechanic in this game, she just wanted to mess up orioncayge's rhythm game. Such were the perils of inviting UNOVR's #1 Villainess to the party. TAG: @post RAID BBQ
