"Triangles? I can think of something cool." Orion nodded, his fingers steepled in a vaguely traingular shape, not truly nailing the bottom two angles because of basic human anatomy, but you get the point. He didn't even have a comment for Cygnus and his antics, after all the man had literally made a G.A.Y beam, his science was feathering the line between legitimate and mad. Thinking on it for a moment, he would draw a design in the dirt.
"Alright, so like you see birds fly in a formation like this yeah?" Kicking the grass, he would scuff a rough V formation. "Well what if like, we flew in a trianglar format but like...flipways." He would again, make a triagular handshape, "Two homies slightly lower than another, kinda like how cheerleeders make a pyramid yeah? But then!" One hand would clench into a fist and slam into the upturned open palm of the other. "We fucking rotate that shit mid air and make a spinning triangle. Even better! We can spin while spinning our already spun triangle! It's like yo dog, I heard you like barrel rolls so we barrel rolled while motherfucking barrel rolling!"
The way in which Orion's eyes widened with delight, and the large grin spreading across his face like a plague made his enthusiasm truly contagious. With this radical design in place, Orion used his board and it's air power and speed to kick up a large updraft so that his bros could get some air time, and then he would join them in the air. The hardest part seemed to be working with Foxy's glider, but by tactically positioning her in formation, Orion could use the fans on his board to help create a draft for her to ride on. Then, once in formation, they practiced spinning themselves while maintaining the pyramid. Once they had that down, the practiced rotating the pyramid without the spin, which was a little trickier given they needed to maintain spacing.
Finally, they put the two tricks together in a master class of rotational rotations. It took a few swoops to get their Bro-nado to click into place, but when they did? God damn was it fucking sick, if not a little disorienting.
"Watch the fuck out world!" Orion howled as the wind tussled his hair. "Bronado coming through like a storm of style!"

The V-shape (or Y-shape) was amazing! A little wobbly, but the slipstream worked exactly the way Yggy had hoped it would. She barely had to fire the jetpack thrusters at all before they reached the green beam, though maybe the Y got a little asymmetrical. More like a lowercase y. Or one of those "acute angles" that were always in Kenny's math textbook. Man, I hate geometry. Anyway!
Cygnus called out some more instructions. "Hahaha, that makes sense! I knew Cygnus wouldn't really hurt us!" Yggy said when the truth was revealed. "He's one of the good guys! We broke him out of an egg. Keg? Anyway, he's really smart."
Speaking of smart people, Aero already had a plan. Yggy grinned. "Yeah, that's great! It's exactly what our Y formation needs!" she said enthusiastically. "Plus, it helps us practice falling in case we get hit by red beams in real life or something, you know? Or like, hit a bird. I hear that happens with real airplanes all the time. Actually, they have to throw frozen gooses into jet engines to make sure they're up to code. Frozen geese? Maybe they're just turkeys, actually."
It occurred to Yggy she might be chattering because she was nervous. Me? Nervous? More nervous than a girl? No way, she thought, swallowing heavily. If Aero wanted to free-fall, they were gonna free-fall. She wasn't gonna be the one to chicken out! "I'll channel my inner Victini! Got it!"
...She'd never seen Victini's V-create, but she wasn't gonna admit that. That would be like Kenny admitting he didn't know about some cool new internet fad when his friends brought it up. He'd just go home and look it up later. No time to look it up! I'll just do what Aero did! Also, was @killian gonna be okay?
"It might be harder to free-fall with the scooter, Killian!" Yggy said, pivoting midair to face the third member of their trio. "But if you keep being the pointy part of the V, I mean, the vertice-- that's what they call it in geo--" she might have made that up, "--it should be okay."
Do or die!
Not gonna cry!
Yggy didn't have a particular fear of heights, but she had to close her eyes for a moment when she cut the thrusters and fell, spinning like a drill as they fell back towards the ground. Her eyes snapped back open. It was only for a second, but it felt like minutes as wind peeled past her face and the world tumbled like someone had dropped a first-person camera. "WOOOOOOOOO!" Yggy screamed, then hit the thrusters again and zoomed back up.
Her heart was still pounding. "Holy crap! That was awesome!" she yelled, looking around. "Where's Killian? Oh man oh man, that was so good!" She made sure the three of them were all together again before looking down to see what the three judges had scored them.

Surprisingly, her teammates came to help her. Perhaps if they'd known the Red Beam she'd been hit by was just placebo, or that she'd just changed her display name to Bergamot Gristleborg, they wouldn't have bothered. Regardless, Bergamot was touched. Her whole life, people had bent over backwards to stop her from ever getting hurt. Keeping her out of danger. Treating her like something that could break at any moment. But when something did happen, who was there to help her back up?
"Friendship is real!" Bergamot exclaimed, dusting off her skirts and looking around for her hand glider. She saw it a few meters away and put out one hand like she was making a stop motion. There was a magnetic hum moment of concentration, then the piece of cloth and metal came flying into her hand with a thwonk. "...But this doesn't change anything between us! I am still far too evil to play for the good guys. Ohohohoho!" She put her blue Laguna wig back on to demonstrate.
But Morgana seemed to have had a change of heart when they next rose into the air. "I have an idea," she announced. "I propose we use our Trainer Subclass powers to great visual effect. As you know, I am a Swimmer--" Which allowed her Pokemon (N/A) to fly and caused water (N/A) to repel off her body. "...but you two aren't. Surely you can make some... pizazz happen."

"Okay great," Sarah said enthusiastically as they rose into the air again. "We'll set off a majestic display and you just sit there looking clean."
She clenched and unclenched her fists, getting the blood flowing. She breathed hard and fast, and slapped her face with her palms to raise some color. She felt the surge of blood, of fire, through her body. She may be going for a catalytic display, but she was a Kindler first and foremost, and what was a jet show without a little fire!?
Her breath sparked, and embers popped from her body like oil from a pan. The air around them shimmered with concentrated heat, and from the judging table they looked like a mirage, or an engine about to explode.
"Now time for a little color!" Sarah said with burning breath, and she enabled her Catalyst aesthetic. Rays of rainbow light sprayed from her body, catching on the heat haze and transforming their group into a soaring, kaleidoscopic mass of multicolored light.
They smeared through the sky like a womanmade rainbow, leaving a trail of errant rays like the remnants of a shattered color wheel. Shards of RGB. Moments of magenta. They bridged the gap from stygian blue to hyperbolic orange.
They were glorious. They were magnificent. They looked like a June 1st My Little Pony commercial.
They didn't just make pizazz happen, they reinvented the whole of fucking Italy.

Silvermoon had breathed out a massive sigh when Cygnus revealed the red beam was actually fine. So the woman and everyone else would be fine... even if they didn't quite seem it at the time. Silvermoon turned away from the foxy tantrum, and looked up at their teammates. "So, um... what should we do?" They had to do a special move as a team. Something flasy, something impressive...
Something that was a lot of pressure. Silvermoon took in a slow breath. They... they could do this. It would be fine. It would be fine. A team off to the side crashed into one another, falling to the earth in a shrieky tangle of machinery and flailing.
Would their team do that?
Silvermoon glanced back. Muin looked flatly at them, but ibis at least offered a confident thumbs up. Another breath. They could do this. Their part was the easy part.
Silvermoon flipped the switch on the handle, a sudden gust of wind sending them upwards, and into a slow, lazy circle around the field. They just had to stay moving, and balanced, and level. Or everything would go terribly.
Noooo pressure.

Adarsa had never been so grateful to put his feet on solid ground.
...even if it meant that Mars wasn't there.
Adarsa sniffed, straightening his outfit as Tuesday went off about some... harebrained idea that involved falling nearly to their deaths. "Hi, um, sorry, quick question- I still don't know how these work!" He shouted, which wasn't a question. "Do you want me to fall? And break something? You want me to be in agony, Mars?" This was a question, but it wasn't quick.
With a huff, because no one cared or understood him, Adarsa turned away to try and figure out how the stupid little wings worked. There was only one button, which seemed to be "on," if also "i am a trained fucking astronaut and i love flying at mach five billion." How was this supposed to work? And the straps were weird on his shoulders, and it had been smacking him for the three seconds it was on-
Clearly, he had to make a concession. "... Saint ?" He called, fiddling with the hem of his cloak. "You... you won't let me die, right?" Saint was reasonable, and trustworthy, and very pretty. It would all work out.
Far, far too quickly, they all rose into the air. Now the even more scarier part. He pressed the "stop going mach five billion" button, and the wings responded instantly.
However it was by breaking an overflow somewhere, and the cute little sprkly wings ripped themselves off his back, and into the goddamn stratosphere. "W-" He didn't have time to choke out a noise, grabbing wildly at Tuesdag and Saint in a blink panic, because he didn't want to die here.

Okay, so, signature moves? Ibis had a couple of those, but none of them were really appropriate for what Cygnus was asking them to do in the middle of the sky. Luckily, the team of best friends had a perfect plan that couldn't possibly fail. Right? Right...?
With his wings, Ibis could make small adjustments to his flightpath and speed pretty easily, so for him to land where he needed to land seemed pretty simple. Silvermoon held their glider tight and steady, and the wood holding the fabric together on each side was Ibis' planned landing spot. A foot on each piece, that would work perfectly, right? This was video games, stuff like *weight* didn't matter here, and Pace hadn't been to the gym in a couple weeks so all those muscles weren't weighing them down.
With a little bump, his feet find their place on the sides on Silvermoon's glider. "You all good down ?" He calls through the fabric to his teammate below, before waving Muin over. "Give me your hand" He says, more telling than asking. "If you do one of those things like in skating, d'ya know what I mean? 'Cos we won't have to do any of the hard stuff, your belt'll hold you up!"
There was plenty of time for actually lifting Muin, later!

Upon hearing that the red lasers couldn't harm the players, Morpheus sighed in relief. He would have been mad at this deception, but he was too focused on keeping himself up in the air and trying to make sure Buzzster Hooperham didn't do anything stupid. However, the problem right now was the final test. Moving his character was easy enough, but trying to fly while doing aerobatics was like risking his virtual life on the line. Not to mention there was an idiot in his team. Well, "idiot" was a strong word to describe Zac, but his reckless showboating made him worry.
"Like I'm going to ignore this guy," Morpheus muttered to himself before turning to Zac. "Fine! But don't blame us if something goes wrong."
He shifted his jetpack's wings and flew to Zac as he called out his name. If he picked him up, he began to panic over what Zac was trying to do with him and @kallisto. He was losing his balance and he wasn't sure his jetpack won't be enough to make this trick work due to its weight. "Seriously?! Are you trying to cut our lives in half here?! Are you sure you know what you're doing?!" He questioned in panic.

Whose idea had this been? Certainly not Muin's, and yet here he is: gracefully moving through the air in from the opposite direction ibis and Silvermoon had flown in, a trail of small and beautiful forget-me-nots being carried away by the breeze wherever he goes. Muin does not envy Silvermoon for having been left in charge of keeping their glider steady as the central pillar of this 'signature move' of theirs, the success of their plan depending on its stability. It sounds like way too much pressure, but Silvermoon handles it well, and Ibis manages to land atop of the glider without a problem, making it look as easy as it gets... Now, Muin also does not envy himself. This... out of all tasks... why did this one have to fall on him? "I truly despise you at this moment, I hope you know that." Muin tells Ibis when flying before him, the coldness of his amethyst stare making it unclear if he's being honest or just messing with the Kindler. It must obviously be the latter! Otherwise, why would Muin reach for his shoulder, allowing Ibis to put hands on his waist and act as if he were lifting him upwards? As if they were a figure skating pair. The belt is doing most of the work here, sure, but that isn't Muin's problem with all of this... Once again, Ibis is close, and there, while they hold this pyramid formation of theirs, forget-me-nots swirling around them, rosy hues paint Muin's cheeks, suddenly feeling uncomfortably warm. "...How long do we have to do this for? I'm sure holding the glider steady is a lot of effort for Silvermoon, we should probably stop now." Ah yes, of course, it's for Silvermoon's sake that they should stop, nobody else's... Muin clears his throat, acting as if looking up at the vastness of the Steppes' skies were part of making the figure skating pose look its best and definitely not it being the fact that he doesn't want to meet Ibis' gaze while being held by him.

Laguna had gone back down to pick up Bergamot Gristleborg , only to immediately be confused by the sudden name change. What were they trying to pull? She genuinely had no idea, just stunned silent for a second. "... Why are you dirty Morgana, now? You know what, probably not important."
Regardless, the idea to use Trainer Subclass powers was a good one. Soaring back up into the sky with the others in tow, She kneeled low on the flying surfboard, balancing her weight just right for the proper move.
As the explosions of rainbows left a trail like a very prideful shooting star, Laguna leaped into action. Her Wand of the Winds twirled in her hands like a proper magical girl, and the winds picked up around them. Beautiful snowflakes and shards of ice floated about in the magical Tailwind, reflecting and refracting the glorious light of the rainbows.
"We might not be the best fliers out there, but one would be hard-pressed not to find us the most beautiful ones." She laughed to herself, standing up and twirling atop the flying surfboard, her Freezer abilities simply adding more snowflake particles to the sky, but she wasn't quite done yet.
As a Starlet, not only were her dancing skills quite fantastic, but she was immediately locked into the new Player class. Given that, the ability to manipulate her other class's type was hers to command. The floating snowflakes twirled with her movements, almost like magic, spinning around her and her teammates like some kind of protective aura. "Just let me know if you get cold, hah! Maybe I can loan one of you a coat!"

#s://cdn~discordapp~com/attachments/1114138222038106173/1114206910871261274/kallisto3~jpg It was basically utter chaos at this point, with shouting and whirring and mechanical noises all over the place. Even if they were up higher than the last test, he could still hear Cygnus clearly from below, announcing something about the beams and--wait, what? âPlacebo effect my ass!â any trace of the regal air that Kallisto was supposed to have was thrown out of the window, especially since he was still feeling a blur in his head, a dizziness that wouldn't go away. He was pretty sure that the other person who got hit by it was also still feeling its effects -- what was going to happen to them by the end of the event? Would they actually get something out of it if he was just lying and changing up the goals all the time?
Clenching his teeth, Kallisto decided that he should really just focus on the task at hand so that they could finally get back to the ground (he had to admit that flying was nice, and he would've enjoyed it more if a fucking red beam didn't sweep through his shoulder like a light saber). Wait, what was the goal again? The notification pop up, a little frizzy at the edges, mentioned a signature move. Great! What the fuck was that? It was then Zac called out nearby, saying that he had a plan (oh God) and it involved them trusting him to not crash and burn (oh fuck). If this was how he was going to experience his first death, well, actually, he didn't want that! But Morpheus had already agreed and they were waiting for him, so by the power of peer pressure, he begrudgingly flew closer and held on. âI hope we still get rewards even if we die--â
The descent had begun, a death spiral that could only be described as a large, red crocodile having fun with its prey, which were two similarly idiot men that couldn't think of a better idea. The combination of his body still feeling the effects of the laser and the chaotic movements really made him want to let go, but he hung on for his dear life. âThis better be worth it, goddamnit!â

After a surprisingly successful second trial involving the powered wings, their team had managed to reach the green beamsâonly to find out it didnât even matter, since Cygnus had apparently rigged it so there was never even any threat.
âWait, what was that about infertility?â Kazuki asks, looking pointedly at Verai, but thereâs no time to continue that conversation as the next phase of the lesson commences.
Jinx calls their attention, and the mention of the previous experiments pulls Kazukiâs mouth into a wide, ominous grin. It is made so much worse when she specifically requests the next one from him.
âEverything,â he breathes, like a child whoâs been asked to choose from The Cheesecake Factory menu.
âTo hell with innovation and planning. Science has brought us this far, science will take us out.â He spreads his hands out, one lit on fire and the other crackling with lightning. âWeâve got power and with the wings, control. All we gotta do is mash âem together and see where it takes us.â
Which could be the shrine, for all he knows. Some people may die, but that is a sacrifice Kazuki is willing to make.
And so it begins.
He first powers up the wings. The electricity surges through his teammatesâ equipment, the lights on Jinxâs wings reaching a blinding intensity, and sparks dance between the feathers of Veraiâs pair. Juiced until theyâre almost pulp, and bright enough to rival Vegas.
Kazuk is laughing now, maniacally, as he raises his hands. He pauses for only a second to say, âOh, Iâm counting on you two to catch me, by the way,â before both his hands burst into flame and he lunges to the grâ

Killian certainly wasn't feeling all too thrilled about the artificial danger (though technically what they were doing was a whole lot of danger, since any of them could technically fall and splat on the ground at any moment), and it also didn't look like whoever did get hit by the red beam were faking it, but at least they could put that part behind him, the next goal was already coming up. It looked like it had something to do with a signature move - if they were able to hit the green beam as asked, did this mean they were on the right track? But what kind of signature move were they going to do?
âFreestyle freefall?â that was one too many frees in there, but he supposed that seemed good enough to satisfy the condition. Ygguana seemed all too happy with Cygnus' deception, mentioning some kind of lore that Killian thought to himself that he should really take note of. âWe don't have to fly too close to the ground, so long as we fall for a while and then pull up at a safe distance, we should be fine! I think!â he was saying this more to himself than anyone else, but he hoped that it would calm the nerves of his teammates, if they were even feeling nervous (he was the oldest one in the group, and it felt like he was already an old man to these energetic youngsters).
It was only watching Aero that Killian did realize the issue he had - he couldn't exactly fall with a scooter, and it seemed like Yggy noticed this earlier than he did. âErr, right, it looks like I'll have to fly closest to the ground after all.â a high speed shot to the ground, huh? Jeez, he never played flying simulators before, so this was..!
But if they were recreating the V-Create, it had to be done, so trying to match the energy of the kids, he took a breath. âRight, here goes nothing!â when they cut their engines, Killian increased the power of his, making sure that he was an aerial step ahead of the two to create the draft. He could hear their excited shouts from behind him, and when it looked like they had fallen from a good enough height, Killian put the scooter to a sharp stop. The angling of the fans created almost something like a bounce, but thankfully the scooter was more suited to a sharp break like this, and it was easy for him to turn around and rejoin his teammates.
Diving towards the ground was...certainly an experience. They were far from it still, but maybe if he didn't get the controls right, a couple of more seconds might've been too late. Ugh, he was starting to feel sick...âI'm here, I'm here. And I don't want to do that again. Good job, you two.â he hoped that it was really enough to satisfy the enigmatic Cygnus.

After touching the green beam, following after Tuesdayâs scream of delight, Saint is thankful to return to the ground. And even more thankful once he hears the truth about the test; heâd been planning on running over to the affected players and checking on them, but it seems everything will be fine.
Thereâs a hearty pat on his back, and the praise makes the edges of his eyes crinkle. âItâs no big deal,â except that it is, very much so. Heâs giddy to have been useful.
Then thereâs the matter of the signature move. The excitement in his eyes dissipates at the thought of pulling such a risky trick, though he canât deny that if he was a judge heâd be damn impressed by it. Itâs become increasingly clear that Tuesday has a flair for these sorts of displays.
Heâs not alone. Unlike him, starlitlover makes his reservations loudly clear. Saintâs eyes flicker between his teammates as they bicker, his shoulders tensing as Starlitlover turns to him, the look on his face piteous enough to tug his heartstrings.
âI wonât let you die,â he reassures him, because heâs taken care of every single one of his siblings and has a stellar track record of dropping zero babies so far. âLetâs do it. Weâve only got one chance to show off anyways.â And with any luck, thisâll be the only time they have to put their lives on the line for showbiz.
They ascend as one. Saint grips the control stick of the Masqueplane as its nose reaches the apex, before he flicks the buttons that shut off the wings and propellers.
They are falling. His back presses against his machine, his heart carried by inertia. The ground is coming close, itâs only a matter ofâ
And then he sees the wings fly off Starlitloverâs back, whatever synchronized elegance and acceleration their group has built up immediately going off kilter. Itâs not nearly close enough to the ground, but Saint slams his glider into gliding formation, its eyeâpatterned wings shooting out like life preservers to his teammates.

Everything is going great at first; they ascend as fast as their flying equipment will allow, and then, once having reached an impressive altitude, they begin to freefall towards the distant ground. Tuesday holds onto one of the ends of her cloak so that it won't billow behind her, spinning on her board with all the grace of a figure skater on ice â always maintaining control in this battle against both gravity and centrifugal force. However, as Tuesday should have remembered, this flying challenge is also ruled by Murphy's Law... "OH SHIT!" Some nearby team fucking explodes (she had been too preoccupied with her own fall to know who), and with the shockwave, the crash is inevitable. Control is lost, Ada loses his wings, Saint barely manages to remain gliding, and in her stupor, Tuesday is forced to let go of her cloak. Ironically, this in itself is her saving grace, for the white feathers of a RAINBOW FLAME CLOAK stop the armour-clad catgirl from rapidly falling. Pearlescent, they shimmer in a thousand colours in the sun's light, long and flowing cloak billowing behind the Alchemist as she glides down with ease while listening to the terrified shrieks of her teammates beneath (let's be honest, it's mostly Adarsa). "IT'S ALL GOOD! I'VE GOT YOU!" It's with these words that a smirk returns to her expression, and in a way truly suitable of these Surging Steppes, Tuesday calls forth a THUNDERBOLT. With a loud bang and a sudden flash of lighting, she descends towards her teammates at incredible speed, grabbing onto starlitlover and Saint from whatever she can reach. An arm, a leg, a glider... It doesn't matter, what matters is reaching them, becauseâ... Z-MOVE: LET'S SNUGGLE FOREVER! She doesn't need to tell them to hold on tight, because her own grip becomes as if impossible to escape, stars and sparkles and glitter filling the air all around them, while the sky itself takes on a gorgeous fairy pink tint. Smirking through it all, Tuesday places herself between both her teammates, her arms wrapping around them. In doing so, the glider and even her solar surfer unintendedly begin to turn to GOLD in the Alchemist's Midas touch, being quickly discarded and left to fall to the ground, glimmering beneath the sun. That Rainbow Flame Cloak of hers beautifully billows still, easing the fall of all three of them now that Tuesday holds onto her teammates. They glide down, almost as if this had been the intent all along: to gracefully descent together amongst stars, glitter, and rose hues. Hell, there's even a flurry of pink petals all around them too, courtesy of starlitlover's Gardener perks! And then, lightly and softly at first, a chuckle bubbles up inside the Alchemist, laughing joyfully while still holding firmly onto her teammates. "See? Told you it'd be fun. I'd say that went even better than expected, huh?"Even when disaster strikes, what matters is knowing how to turn things around... and still looking fucking awesome in the process, of course.
