FreeformZONE A > ESCAPE to ZONE B âHAHAHA! This is amazing!!â a clap of thunder whizzed by the players on the platform, and if Comet didn't know any better, it would surely threaten rain any time now. Oh man, that would suck, especially since both he and his Pokemon were clad in fire! For now though, the air was ripe with electricity, bouncing and crackling, sparks flying. He was definitely too much of a newb to do what the other players were doing, but he would glance at them and take notes - this was how it would be like once he had more currency to really get those upgrades. And was that a Mew?! There were other legendaries fighting here too? That's crazy!
He wanted a legendary too!
So even if they weren't going to do a lotta damage, they still had to do something! He spotted another player summon a long cat to act as a bridge, which was crazy amazing, and he was no friend to that person who thought of the idea, but he wasn't going to pass on the opportunity! âCome on, Kimchi!â
<Actually just Chi is fine!> the Cinderace would weakly retort, clearly not used to his larger new body. Nonetheless, in such a perilous situation, the rabbit made sure to focus so that both he and his trainer wouldn't just plummet to their deaths, crossing over the cat and onto the Zapdos. <Okay now what-->
âUhh kick it! Use Pyro Ball!â
The Cinderace nodded, propelling himself up in the air with a Bounce before aiming a ball made of fire right on the wing. Zapdos, of course, was not just a sitting duck, and would shift around, but thankfully the bun was able to land back on the bird; his feet still aflame. âMaybe you can run around him and set its feathers on fire!â
Well it was safer than trying that again, the Cinderace thought with his heart pounding feverishly. Man, his trainer and this whole thing was crazy, but he couldn't help but think that it was also exhilarating!

Mechanical (Hard)ZONE A
When Lucky had heard the call to action in the absence of the Giant Shrine's presence, he had a feeling that something like this was going to happen. He'd even assumed that it was probably going to be Zapdos after having experienced the first two birds firsthand. Still, seeing is far different from believing, let alone being sent to it through the storm-entrenched atmosphere just to make contact to begin with. Lucky knew when to admit that he was caught off guard by a development, and this was one that he probably should have seen coming.
He took the ascent's time to recollect himself. By the time they breached the surface of the clouds, he'd even managed to remind himself that these storms weren't a herald of Kyogre's return.
He was calmed by the sight of the sagely titan that took shape in the storm. If nothing else, despite all of the strange and weirdly personal strikes of thunder on his person, the boss was as mechanical as he had expected. In true fashion to any raid boss, he had no personal grudge against anyone... Although, with the spotlight of gold that spread beneath his shoes on the platform, it was sometimes hard to convince himself that Zapdos wasn't glaring at him.
He wasn't, though. Lucky was sure of it.
As with any long battle, Lucky decides it to be best to put his best foot forward. Will'O came first, passive in face of the lethal environment. His cryptic personality would be great for warning his trainer about any impending strangeness that could still come to the raid. Even more importantly, he was the best Pokemon he had to keep people safe in this environment. Lucky rest a hand on the fox's shoulder for a moment.
"That trainer over there, yeah, him. He looks looks good enough. Remember what I told you about Special Attacking Sweepers, Will'O?" These instructions were enough. A quiet nod accepted Lucky's orders, and Will'O was then at Kazuki 's side. He knew exactly what to do when there was a special attacking sweeper--Set up Light Screen.
Before the storm even struck down, the barrier was already in place. Focused on dodging lightning himself, the Delphox must have seemed as some guardian spirit to the fortunate guy he had been ordered to keep safe. His efforts keeping several errant bolts away, Kazuki and his sprigatito were spared from the wrath of the storm... for now.
Selma was already out of his ball by that time. Lucky couldn't take Omen here-even if she hadn't been recovering from a trip to Mistra, he knew that she didn't enjoy prolonged or drawn-out fights--not after Kyogre. Selma was his strongest Pokemon after her. Lucky had instructed him to Ice Fang, and the results were well enough to see. Out in the raging atmosphere of a high-altitude storm, a freezing condition was all he needed to create a growing sheet of hail. Stray chunks battered at the Drapion's carapace, but he didn't mind.
He was more focused on the wall of sleet that he was about to throw on the unfortunate Zapdos, a great bird who has probably never experienced the shock of a snowball fight in his life. Poor guy. Lucky would pity him after he dropped the shrine.

Mechanical (Hard)ZONE A Sarah watched the battle explode around her.
People threw, launched, and rode their Pokemon into the fray. Some #Badass fighter ERUPTED with volcanic power and flew straight towards the raid boss. His name flashed up on her screen as he soared overhead in a cloud of superheated ash. orioncayge. "Of course it's him," Sarah said with a burning smile.
Speaking of the other valedictorians, Laguna would be around here too. Sarah pushed through the crowd towards a bob of blue hair and hoped fervently that it wasn't just Bergamot Gristleborg wearing a wig again. She wondered what novelty shirt her nemesis would be wearing to the raid.
It wasn't Morgana in a wig (or if it was then her disguises were getting better). "Got your dancing shoes on?" Sarah asked Laguna.
Chell the Emboar approached the blue-haired Starlet, and Sarah heard faint strains of music starting up in the background. Emboar bowed deeply to her partner. "Laguna," she grunted, puffing out her chest and extending a hand.
And in the middle of the fire and lightning, the pair danced. Their footsteps shook the platform and cascades of boulders tumbled from the clouds above them, thundering against Zapdos' hide like pebbles on a tin roof. Whether they were shattered chunks of some floating island far above or rocks summoned directly by the dance was impossible to say.
Emboar roared with delight, and the pair danced on.

Mechanical (Hard)ZONE A to ZONE D The time has come. She managed to clear her schedule and finished most of her homework for this day. With more questions regarding the shrine theft from four months ago, Aero was determined to deal with that crazy bird for answers and return it before any damage was done.
So right now, she was not only wearing her purple cybernetic armor for this fight but also a winged jetpack she got from the flying demonstration the other day. Right beside her were her newly-evolved Gothitelle and Onix who were ready to follow their trainer's lead. She won't be fighting alongside them first, but she hoped they could try to survive until the end of the battle.
After seeing Professor Ash and Cygnus's holographic message, Aero's eyes widened to see the large Zapdos flying almost above them. There was a low chance she might be able to call it out, yet she was undeterred by its size and electricity. She knew she still have the Boon of Surging from it (or him), but she didn't know how long will she keep it. Regardless, she took a deep breath and turned to her Pokemon.
"Alright, it's raiding time! Lollie, you deal with the offense first. Rocky, help out with the defense. After that, let's get closer behind that jerk." Both of her Pokemon nodded with their eyes narrowed. "I know you're confused about what I'm about to do, but please, trust me until the end, okay? If something happens, I'll try to get you guys out. I promise."
With that said, Aero turned to Zapdos and closed her eyes. And with a deep breath, she shouted,
"HEY, PRINCE THUNDERBIRD!!! YES, I'M TALKING TO YOU, PRINCEY!!! YOU HAVE A LOT OF QUESTIONS TO ANSWER FOR AND ONCE WE GET YOU DOWN, YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO STARE RIGHT AT US AND TELL US EVERYTHING!!! FIRE!!!"
Her reductant speech aside, Aero's voice was seemingly serious compared to her usual to many players who met her. When she was done screaming, she backed away before her Psychic-type unleashed her powers on the thunder bird while her Onix threw several rocks in front of it to create a wall in front of the players in the first platform.
Once they did the deed, Aero activated her jetpack and launched off to the sky as she attempted to move to the platform behind the Electric/Flying-type.

Mechanical (Easy)ZONE A The ride up the elevator and the briefing had been tame, almost quaint as people either held their breaths or chatted, but the first lizard is cast at Zapdos, and everything quickly descends into chaos. Teams leap into action or brace themselves for onslaught: someone pulls a shield wheelie, a guy in jorts krakatoas at the frontlines, and he spots fellow Creed and noted maid enthusiast Tuesday shilling energy drinks.
Kazuk didnât think anything could top the arena battles, but this beats them by a mile high.
Everyoneâs getting into position â except one.
A weight bears down on Veraiâs shoulders, metal clanking against metal. A heavy, grounding weight. Kazuki pulls him close with one arm, grinning with barely-contained excitement. âVer, are you nervous? This is what youâve been waiting for. If you keep gawking, youâre going to end up on the long cat bridge in the sky.â He gestures to the bridge that is actually right there.
Then he squeezes him, leaning in and hissing quietly. âGet. A. Grip.â
He lets go of him and marches forwards, having decided what to do long before this fight. Zapdos is in front of them, and while the raid party is on a giant plate, they wonât be the ones getting served.
He has never held any fondness for the Prince, royalty and deities in general. Kazuki will face god and RECOIL backwards into hell.
But first: he catches a can of T-Fuel flying in the air, cracking it open as he regards his loyal partner. âYou sure youâre up for this, caâuh. Waffle?â His face scrunches. He didnât choose that nickname for his starter; it had been obtained through a joint custody glitch-loophole, and now the cat wonât respond to anything except his ill-fitting breakfast name. âMight be better for you to sit this one out.â
Waffle looks up at him, the determination in his eyes the same, but his body forever changed. The roots from the corruption peek out from his waffle iron-styled armor, pinned under his beloved pink collar and waffle-shaped tag. He speaks confidently despite the discomfort that plagues him. <Do you see where we are? This is the culmination of all our months of training. To back down now would be disgrace unparalleled; it would spit in the face of our friends, our fellows in arms, and I, Waffle, would rather die a hero than cower in the face of war!>
Kazuki chokes, spilling T-Fuel over himself. âWhere did you learn to talk like that?!â
<Purrai lets me read!> Waffle beams.
âHomeschooling was a mistake,â Kazuki grumbles, wiping his mouth and hopelessly smearing his armor. âAh, fuck it. Alright, letâs do this.â He crushes the empty can on his head, tossing it to hammerspace and getting into a ready stance.
As black electricity begins to weave across Kazukiâs skin, Waffle pipes up, doing excited little tippy-taps in his clunky armor. <I wanna do a Z-Move!>
âWe donât have those,â Kazuki grits out. Every muscle in his body has tensed, the surge from his core building up to an excruciating voltage. Sparks sear his skin and pop out from gaps in his armor to bounce off the ground.
<I wanna do my Z-Move!> Waffle wheedles.
It clicks. âNo.â The air is quickly filled with Waffleâs âpleaaasePLEASEPLEASEPLEASEEâ and coupled with encroaching detonation, the resulting âparent who has gone 36 hours without sleepâ tension headache breaks Kazuki instantly. âONCE. You can do it just this once.â
<Z-MOVE!> Waffle cheers.
The storm around them protests. Stray bolts descend from the heavens before Kazuki can finish building power, but a strange wisp by his side expands into a glowing barrier, absorbing the worst hits for him and Waffle. The pain wrought by his surge, too, feels as if itâs been reduced to nothing. His eye catches a Delphox standing off to the side, being directed by a player called Lucky Guy.
Kazuki chuckles. Lucky, indeed. Maybe they wonât be totally eating shit from this stunt. Completely refreshed, there is nothing holding him back from hitting the gas.
Kazukiâs internal fuse bursts with enough force to bring a power plant to its knees. Corrupted electricity completely engulfs the duo, the aberrant lightning unstable and insatiable, swallowing the bolts from Zapdosâ storm. Natural lightning clashes with the unnatural, and the reaction is explosive.
They launch together â errant bullets â zipping across the platform as if it were a pinball machine. The first synchronized crash leaves scorch marks and plumes of dark smoke, Waffle screaming over the crackling electricity as they zoom, his little heart beating the hardest it ever has thanks to the adrenaline and a helpful wisp. <BURNT!>
The second crash threatens to crunch hard light, metal screeching against the platform as they pivot and ricochet. <TOAST!!>
And the third crash finally sends them to the goal: flying straight at Zapdos as a single thundering comet, Waffleâs bright voice heard echoing across the cloudy sky.
<BAZOOOOKAAAAAA!!!>

Mechanical (Easy)ZONE A It was the acrape of metal against metal that pulled Verai from his thoughts, Kazuki's breath against his face as the brawler spoke. Get. A. Grip. Kazuki was cheerful in the face of battle, but ultimately right- If he stood here and did nothing, he was going to die.
Verai closed his eyes, and took a slow breath. Trainers were swarming around, all coordinated in their attack on Zapdos, and their protection of each other. And what Kazuki had said⌠He let his breath out, slowly.
This is what youâve been waiting for.
He didn't know the Prince's goals. He didn't know Ash's. And only one of those he could find out, now. If they all knew what the Prince's goals were- they could work together towards it, and this senseless fight could end. But, to that end, they needed to know what the common goal was.
He opened his eyes, but didn't move instantly. He just stood there, and listened, to the cries of trainer and pokemon, the moves against the roar of wind and thunder- and Zapdos, the heart of the storm.
Verai would not fight Zapdos- Right now, that simply was not an option. But.. he was not going to stand by idly and let others get hurt without stepping in. He had stood against impossible odds to protect his companions before, and he was never going to stand aside again.
He moved towards the edge of the platform, around volcanic ash and massive felines and teahouse advertisements, welcoming the air and power of the raging storm. With his next exhale, he let the storm overtake him, thunder in his lungs and lightning sparking over his skin.
"Prince Zapdos!" He called, trying to infuse his voice into the storm that had infused him, the sword in his hands lightning, his voice the thunder. "We want to help you! Let us help you- Tell us what to do!" Verai beseeched, planting himself as a bulwark against the storm.
Kitten ran over to stand beside him, sides heaving greatly before she let out a roar, loud and primal, tail lashing as she did so. It would, without question, scare the Zapdos off- or at least startle him enough to have a conversation! He was probably cranky because he was hungry. Or he hadn't been brushed lately.

Mechanical (Hard)ZONE A Laguna couldn't help but grin madly as the elevator ascended into the heavens, ready to confront Zapdos and take the shrine back by force.
As far as she was concerned, these Legendary Pokemon probably considered it a test of some sort. Perhaps to see if we deserved to keep it, to take it for themselves. Zapdos's motives were still confusing, but whatever the case may be, a fight was still a fight.
As orioncayge exploded into the distance with all the might of a powerful volcano, she couldn't help but immediately laugh. There was no way she was letting him show her up this raid.
As Sarah Lee approached, asking about her dancing shoes, she instinctively twirled. Her Trailblazer Kicks already leaving flames along the ground with every movement. "As if I ever leave home without them. But I got a few tricks up my sleeve, too." A curved, swirling wand twirled out from behind her gloved arm, appearing with some sleight of hand.
"Mama?" Glacia spoke, carefully resting atop her trainer's flying surfboard, just in case it was needed for the event. "Just like we practiced?"
"Just like we practiced. You'll do great." She leaned all the way down to kiss the tip of the spine of her Bergmite, listening to its sweet, adorable giggle.
"Shine like the sun, mama."
"Oh, we will. We both will."
With another quick peck to the Bergmite, she turned around to finally face her first dancing partner of the night. "Chell, might I have this dance?"
The two of them twirled together, and as boulders tumbled down from above, Glacia joined them, emboldened by the winds coming from Laguna's wand. With a powerful cry, large chunks of ice rained down as well in a powerful Avalanche as she fought to remain in front of the dancing duo to protect her trainer.
And yet, Laguna began to glow.
Her skin began to glow with a burning intense heat that radiated off her body, even as flames suddenly erupted all around them like they were the center of an erupting star. Flames danced across their skin, spreading down across her arms and spreading across the Emboar. A warm, welcoming heat that soothed their wounds and empowered them with the strength of a mighty Sunsteel Strike.
And then, the sun exploded.
Like several coronal mass ejections, waves of radiant heat and energy erupted outwards from her, washing over specific targets nearby. A wave washed over Tuesday 's Rotom, she always heard sun tea tasted nice. It spread further, blessing orioncayge 's eruption with some extra strength of its own.
But it wasn't quite done, as the flames began to flicker and die the few remaining washed over h0lyn3v1l 's Snivy, soothing its wounds after such a brutal slam.

Mechanical (Easy)ZONE A move to ZONE D The elevator ride was enough to make Morpheus nervous. He was fully prepared for the raid since he had a day off from both school and part-time work and he had his Pokemon and skill tree upgraded for. Yet, he wasn't prepared when he stepped out of the elevator and saw a gigantic Zapdos flying almost above him and the other players. Sure, he was aware of how powerful the Legendary Pokemon were. But he didn't expect how huge it was compared to the ones he knew in previous games he played in.
Morpheus would have stood there in shock at the Electric/Flying-type Legendary bird, but he couldn't stay idle for long. If he wanted to act, he needed to do it now. Looking around, he noticed many players and their Pokemon were already attacking Zapdos while some were leaving the first zone with their flying contraptions and jumping onto other platforms. Then, he noticed a man in a kimono who seemed older than him in real life. His Pokemon seemed to attack the Zapdos relentlessly, yet didn't bother to notice his defenses. He didn't even know that players could even battle by themselves in this game. Knowing what to do first, Morpheus took out his Poke Ball and readied his dark blue winged jetpack.
"Alright, Glacies! Guard that man with Haze!"Â Once he tossed the ball, his Cryogonal was released and quickly right in front of the player, Kazuki himself before releasing a thick mist from its body. However, after it guarded him, it suddenly shivered and quickly flew back to its trainer. "Hey, what's wrong with you, Glacies?"
<I-I can't explain it. But there is something wrong with that man!> Glacies shuttered.
"What do you mean?" He asked in confusion, surprised that his Cryogonal wasn't fearful of a player before.
<I don't know! I just can't explain it!>
He sighed. Whatever it was, he couldn't figure it out right now. Their priority was the Zapdos and he needed to focus if they need to win and survive. "Hey!" Morpheus called out to the man. "You better be careful out there! Who knows what will happen if you get knocked off the platform!"
He then took off to the sky with Cryogonal by his side, still wondering what made it so scared of that man.

FreeformZONE A > ESCAPE TO ZONE C Jade took one look at the Zapdos, who she'd mistaken for a mountain range they'd flown too close to, and cursed out loud.
The ping in her UI was just the cherry on top. â ď¸ ZONE A: INCOMING ATTACK
"Oh hell no. We gotta get out of here." Jade pushed through the other trainers, searching for the exit, but it was already too late. Her ticket back out of the raid was already a thousand foot drop down, and hell if she was gonna try out her 'reduced' pain settings on something like that.
A way out. Anywhere. She saw a kid (Jinx) take to the skies in some kind of flying machine, followed by a man (Morpheus) with a blue jetpack. "Where do I get one of those?!" Jade demanded, looking around wildly for other options. Someone else was driving a motorcycle over a giant cat bridge that disappeared somewhere off into the clouds. I'm desperate, but not that desperate. She saw a guy who literally blasted off like an exploding volcano and did a double-take as she recognized orioncayge.
How were these people actually coordinated?
<Nothing's ever easy for you, is it?> She felt a clawed hand at her elbow, steadying her, and realized Roger was there. She didn't ask how he'd gotten out of his ball, just grabbed the big chicken for dear life. "Roger! Boy, am I glad to see you!"
<Send out Billie. I can get you out of here, but you need to trust me.>
"Sure! Anything!" Anything to keep from making decisions. She was glad to have Roger steer her in the right direction. "Billie, do whatever Roger says. He's the boss today."
<Confirmed. New user accepted.> The Cascoon appeared like a living pillow pet in Jade's hands, which she surrendered immediately to the Combusken. <Input new command.>
<Use String Shot when I say so,> Roger said, beak tilted up towards the sky. Half-cowering behind her own starter, Jade shaded her eyes and squinted to see what he was looking at.
<...Zzzz.>
âYouâre sleeping!â
Screw this, Jade was the boss after all. Nearby, she saw another player's Onix lift itself off the platform, its giant head questing towards some forbidden exit. "Four o'clock! String Shot, fire!" she declared, tightening her grip on Billie and linking arms with the still-snoozing Roger. If this worked the way she thought it was going to, it was gonna be a hell of a ride.
Zoooop! String Shot burst from the Cascoon, wrapping around the end of the Onix's tail as it surged across the gulf, pulling Jade and co. behind it like a bungee. "AAAHHHHH!" she screamed, waking up Roger at last and kicking her feet midair. "Fuck! Bad idea! Bad idea!"
As if instinct and adrenaline had triggered it, the back plate of her armor lifted up, revealing buzzing, semi-transparent beetle wings. Jade heard them drone to life like a weedwhacker behind her, letting her float the gap and touch down safely in the feathers on the other side.
Hold up, feathers?
"Aw, hell. We're on him," Jade said, filled with dread. She swatted her wings back down and approached Taylor at a lope, gravitating towards the only other person on the giant black plain. As she drew near, she saw the woman looked pretty banged up. "Hey! Shoot, you all right? Billie, another String Shot. A healing one, however that works."
<Affirmative. Zoop.>
"I'm Jade. Look, we gotta stick together out here, all right?" Maybe Taylor would be fine with letting Jade hide behind her Onix. Wasn't like there was anything else to use for cover on the back of a damn wing.

Mechanical (Hard)ZONE A > ZONE C Looking at Zapdos was like looking at a God. The lightning that arced from its sharpened coil feathers shot gargantuous yellow bolts across the dark clouds of the Thunderfall Storm. Its armspan was so colossal that it was nigh impossible to see from one side to the other. This pokemon was an ocean to itself, a mountain in the sky, a perception-altering entity of incomprehensible proportions. And Kath Ulu pointed at it with utter exasperation. "Hey, Bulby, look at the sizea this guy." "Big, man." "What the fuck are we doing here?!" "I brought us here," Treecko yelled over the raging wind. "We have no choice but to fight." "What? We have plenty of choices! Run, for one. Secondly, run. Third-" "Run?" "-Walk, actually." "Really?" "No! Run!" "Unless you can fly, Kath, we aren't going anywhere." "You wanna fight this fuckin' guy?" "Everyone else is!" "Come on, man, the least we could do is help," Bulby motioned his vines toward Taylor and her Onix on Zapdos' Right Wing. "They look like they could use a hand, man!" "I don't know who that is!" Kath squinted through the clouds. "That's Taylor," said Treecko. "She seems confident to the point of occasional cockiness." "Yeah, yeah, but what's the plan about that incomprehensibly big lightning storm inbetween us and them?" Kath scratched her head. "Actually, you had that one answered," Treecko slapped her hands together. A thick tendril of green branches and intertwining yellow vines shot out from the Zone A platform. They stretched across the sky, deep into the storm, finding purchase on Zapdos' left wing. "Run!"
Treecko used ESCAPE! Kath ran. Bulby, a large Ivysaur, bounded behind her. He picked up the small Treecko with on of his vines so she wouldn't fall behind⌠or fall in front. He just didn't want anyone to fall. Kath's hair stood on end as she felt the current blooming around her. She was running across a bridge, with no rails, in the middle of a thunderstorm. She took a deep caustic breath and kept going. Lightning struck the bridge ahead, showering everyone in sparks. Treecko's leaves whittled and her branches were scorched, but her bridge remained intact.
Treecko took 30 Electric Damage!
Bulby took 30 Electric Damage! "Aahhhhhh!" Kath yelled. She jumped, over the growing flames, and Bulby followed. As they landed on Zapdos' Right Wing, lightning struck again. This time, the bridge fell apart. "Oh fuck!" "Man." "Fuck! What are we even doing here?!" Treecko looked around. Zapdos' Right Wing was terrain; the gigachad pokemon's own body was a battlefield unto itself. "Helping Taylor, remember?" Treecko stood up. "Or is being this high up cutting the oxygen off from your brain?" "No," Kath lied. She tried to take a deep breath, but the air was thin and hot in her throat. Bulby didn't waste any time. He waddled over to Taylor and her Onix, and stood between her and the Zapdos' insurmountable beak. "Alright lady, get behind me and hold onto your butts," Bulby unfurled each and every one of his beautiful, slender vines, that extended and curled in on themselves to form a barrier between Zapdos and Taylor.
Bulby used GUARD! on Taylor But Bulby wasn't done. Out of each vine, dozens of needles shot out toward Zapdos!
Bulby used Needle Shot! on Zapdos
Bulby dealt 93 Damage! "Nice work, Bulby!" Treecko yelled. She held her hands on Taylor and her Onix's burns. Flower petals burst from Treecko's palms, enshrouding the trainer and her pokemon with healing magic.
Treecko used Heal! on Taylor and Onix Taylor was healed for 42! Onix was healed for 42!
Kath gasped as Treecko dropped to one knee. Treecko's burns had gotten worse, as the energy of the healing magic had diverted Treecko's power from her own recovery. Despite their differences, Kath rushed to her side. "Ayo bitch you good?" "AhâŚ" Treecko winced with pain. "I'm not sure. Kath, if I get taken out-" "I know." "Kath-" "I know, Treecko. Don't worry." Kath rose She stood next to Taylor and Bulby, ready to face Zapdos' next move. "I'm not going anywhere."

FreeformZONE A Saint had no high-flying ambitions or expectations when he had signed up. He knew it would be dangerous â itâs a World Event for Peteâs sake â but he figured the sheer number of participants would allow him to safely fade into the background and focus on assisting.
And now heâs actually here, facing off an angry thunderbird the size of a Super Bowl Stadium, and heâs about to shit his pants.
A brave chunk of players are quick to get moving, either switching zones, setting up attacks and defenses, or aiding each other.
And all Saint can do is stand there, frozen, eyes wide to his first legendary encounter as people rush past him, until he blinks and finds that his place has gone from near the front of the crowd to the rear of the pack.
Finally moving, the first thing he does is pull out his UI. 'Log out,' his conscience screams as he shuffles through menus in a blind panic, 'LOG OUT.'
<Whoa there, calm down.> A large tail comes out to wrap around him, Saint yelping as heâs lifted off the ground.
Taiyaki hums, his giant face tilted down to regard his trainer, who looks more like a trembling Yamper than a human right now. <Sorry man, it just seemed like you were about to collapse.>
âThis was a mistake!â Saint struggles, trying to pull his arms out from his pokemonâs bind. Taiyaki feels nothing, not even a tickle. The Gyarados begins to sway him in the air.
<Aw, câmon, letâs just see what happens. You got your team here, and weâre not even in the frontlines. Weâve got your back. Right, clown bro?>
Gumball pops out from the top of Taiyakiâs head, grinning wildly. He pulls out a toy bugle from seemingly nowhere, letting out a war tune. TOOOOT TOO TOO TOOOOOO!
Saint doesnât believe them, but he has given up trying to escape â even if he still looks on the verge of losing breakfast. Taiyaki settles for it and places him back on the ground.
'I did say that,' the Gyarados looks to the raging battlefield. 'But man, if I touch any of those sparks, Iâm getting fried instantly.' Laughing to himself, he braces for impact.
Saintâs head disappears into his oversized collar, unable to watch the carnage.

THUNDERFALL: CYCLE 2And my ending is despair, Unless I be relieved by prayerThe Giant Shrine has always been a beacon of healing. A landmark visible from any point on the Surge Steppes, its gleaming silver sides reflecting storm and starlight.
Now, Zapdos holds it like a lead pipe.
He swings it at the platform in a thousand-ton rush of pure steel, a monolith weaponized to sweep the entire raiding party back into the world below. Unfortunately, he is brought up short. Zapdos growls, lowering the Giant Shrine in the face of the sudden, violent resistance. The players in Zone A breathe a collective sigh of relief. âI know you,â he says, spotting Aero. The realization seems to anger him and his feathers spread, bristling indignantly like golden thorns. âYou would challenge me, also?â
Savagery spreads through the Prince and the titanic bird glowers down at Verai with raptor-yellow eyes, backlit by Kazukiâs corrupted lightning. Boulders ping ruthlessly off his body as players escape to his wings. He barely seems to notice them.
âWhat I want?â
Gravity roils like boiling water, distorting the clouds as if riddled with moving serpents. The players in Zone D feel the effect of a Magnetic Flux pushing, pulling, stretching at their bodies. Zapdos threads the stormy channel with surprising speed, jarring the footing of the players in Zones B & C with Agility.
âLeave!ââIâve seen what you people are doing. Spreading across the land. Building your human cities. âTamingâ the Pokemon that live there. Awakening things that should not be woken.â
With each word, Zapdosâ beak stabs out, a sequoia-sized spear. It strikes Sarah Leeâs Emboar mid-step, cutting into the dance with blade-shaped brutality. It pierces Tuesdayâs Frost Rotom and it dissolves into light, vanishing back into its ball. It blasts through Kazukiâs Sprigatito, who explodes in a shower of hexagonal game cells and vanishes instantly. âReturn to your own home! This is mine.â
Zapdos rises.
Gravity surges upward as a powerful upstroke buffets the elevator platform, sucking it skywards. The thunderstorm draws distant, its rumbling and flashes of lightning disappearing below you as you are towed to dizzying, airplane-level heightsâ and then higher.
âYou seek what is not yours to claim. Arrogant humans. I was not your enemy, but I see now youâll never stop until everything is yours.â
A dark, leather-bound book appears in front of Zapdos. Its creased pages are stained with old blood and several of them tear out, folding and fluttering before Zapdos like sparrows.
âGo to Moltres. Seek her aid. It is time for us to make our stand.â
Thunder booms and the paper birds zip away, gone in a flash.

Mechanical (Easy)ZONE A > MOVING TO ZONE C"Damn. Good work with those disruptions, guys" Domino whistles, impress, yet not really talking to anyone in particular. Once Bart has distributed his healing and returns to her side, his little paws resting on her head, they merely limit themselves to watching the show, and oh, Zapdos sure knows how to put on a show.Cue the lightning, the pecking, and a true display of the giant bird's incredible agility. Her brow furrows watching PokĂŠmon fall to Zapdos' attacks, many of them distant and many right here on the elevator where it all had begun. They faint one after another, knocked out in one hit as if their HP meant nothing at all, and it's in watching this that her multicoloured gaze falls upon a familiar Sprigatito that explodes in a flurry of game cells and pixels, vanishing in a second. The sight brings grim reminders of their encounter at Mistra, leaving a bitter taste in her mouth. "...That idiot." Domino clicks her tongue. "Bart. Heal Kazuki and a few others if you can, then meet me on Zapdos' right wing."<'Mew!'> That's what she had come here for, isn't it? To help other players, to help the Professor with her plan to get the shrine back, and to help all of Asper. So, with that in mind... "Bit of a hypocrite, aren't you, birdie?" She stands at the very edge of the platform when addressing the gargantuan legend, refusing to look down, refusing to acknowledge the environmental cold that seems to seep to her very bones, and most of all, refusing to let her expression show how utterly small and insignificant she feels when looking at Zapdos. "You talk and talk of arrogance, but you're most arrogant one out here. I heard it was people who saved you, and now you do this? Damn, all you shrine legends really are fucking selfish. Sharing is caring, dude."She's buying time, because as she speaks, a much different and much smaller legendary PokĂŠmon uses his psychic energy to gather the water particles in the air and create what looks like a pool noodle made out of nothing but water. Bart giggles, wielding the pool noodle like a wiggly sword, and SMACK! he hits the nearest unsuspecting PokĂŠmon with it... Lucille's Cyndaquil. The pool noodle's waters seep into the PokĂŠmon, healing it. Holding her blob of a Ditto in her arms, Domino gives Zapdos a parting smirk â her Beta Tester avatar glitching before vanishing completely and leaving behind nothing but fading prismatic light and flaming footprints on the platform. SMACK! Bart hits another PokĂŠmon, this time Lucky Guy's Delphox. The water of this BATON PASS sizzles with the warmth of the Delphox's body, turning into a healing steam. At that very second, Domino reappears a few metres away where she had been: now standing at the edge of Zapdos' right wing. That's when she opens raid chat: crazy idea but we're here to get the shrine back, right? maybe we should focus on getting zapdos to drop it before anything else đââď¸ we've totally got this đ try not to get urselves killed, yeah? fucker hits hard talking to you, kazuki đ SMACK! SMACK! It's two times that Bart hits Kazuki with the very very wet pool noodle, right in the face. Refreshing and not at all painful, but maybe it's the thought that counts here. The Mew giggles, amused when the pool noodle vanishes into droplets that fall all over his pink feline body, and waving goodbye at the player, he leaves as well, heading for the right wing where Domino's Trailblazer Kicks had left an actual trail of harmless flames upon golden feathers. GOAL (ALTITUDE 3): 7815/7815

FreeformZONE A Rose had absolutely no idea what she was doing. In fact, she was pretty sure she was here late. She missed whatever announcements, only to drop straight into absolute chaos, with Zapdos striking everywhere, the elevator so high up into the sky it was freezing,
Her cute little beetle wings unfolded from the small shell on her back, fluttering anxiously. A black stone-like egg was held in her hands, shimmering with shifting green tessellations that certainly inspired awe. But now wasn't the time to focus on how pretty the egg was.
With her new Catcher abilities, her hands and feet gained intense traction, hence why she was barefoot too as she waddled across the space elevator. But her hands-
"I'm stuck!" Rose yelled, tugging and pulling on the egg as she tried desperately to yank her hands from it. She really had no idea what she was doing.
"Yeehaw!" Her Orthworm suddenly shouted out, slithering across the ground like a steel worm would. "Looks like to Zapdos, we're as welcome as an outhouse breeze. Well, rather than hanging out here like a hair on a biscuit, why don't we show that man what's what, hmm?"
"... What?" Said Rose, stunned and looking confused.
"... What's an outhouse?" Said Moab the Type: Null.
"Tell ya when ya'll are older. Now, I got my tail up and stinger out, shall we blast him out of the sky?" The Orthworm said, that did not in fact, have a stinger. He had fists.
"Uh... yeah!" Rose grinned ear to ear, holding the egg stuck to her hands above her head. "Knock him out of the sky!"
"Pronto! When we're done with him, he's gonna look like something the cat dragged in and the kittens didn't want." With a sudden shout, the Orthworm suddenly spit out a rock from its maw firing it towards Zapdos with a Smack Down.
Confused, and yet intrigued by her new worm friend, she still had to protect her wormie friend's egg. Climbing atop her Type: Null like a child would ride a small dog or a large cat, she shouted. "Keep me safe! If you have to, jump! I got a ship! Uh-" She paused, entirely unable to activate the very silly remote that looked like a set of keys in her pocket with her hands stuck to the egg. "Uh, somewhere! Just move!"
"Understood," Moab spoke, dashing across the platform in what were basically circles.
It looked very silly.
