The final bird of this floor was in arm's reach. They were also descending many, many steps, and Arthur had already lost count how far down they've come. If he were someone that possessed less balance, he would've gotten dizzy going down the spiral staircase, but thankfully he had no such disadvantage. Still, he had to move around (or kick) nests, use his arms as meager defense against passing Pidgeottos, who appear to be programmed to attack the Pokemon and not the trainer, since they seemed to be mainly ignoring him (sometimes he would see glares straight at him, but that was the most they could muster). The last prompt was once again for Gou, but they reached the bottom of the floor, and the remaining birds were circling or flapping above them.
❝This'll make 60. Gou, what do you feel like doing?❞
<Taking a break.> he grumbled, putting one of his hands behind his neck, mimicking stiffness. He then lied down on the floor on one side, tail flicking around. Arthur was about to chide him before the Pokemon's body suddenly gave off a gentle green glow, and to everyone's surprise, it turned out that it actually counted as a move. Gou furrowed his brows after a couple of seconds pass before standing right back up and looking at his hands. <Okay that was weird.>
❝But it did count.❞ the trainer noted that the counter did go up, and he wondered if a bird somewhere up there fainted from Gou's laziness. Who knew with this game, right? ❝Better?❞
<I'd still prefer a nap, but...yeah. Sure. What's next?>

Arthur didn't realize that they had gone so far down the tree that they were basically under the tree. Or that was what it felt like, because he suddenly heard water, and the shoes that he was wearing were no longer stepping on something firm and hard, but soft and mushy. Gross. With the introduction of water, he withdrew Gou for now as well as Banko, since both of them were weak to water, and let out Anta. Turned out that bringing the Mantyke was the right call, as the next prompt to pop up involved a sound-based move.
But where was the target? One wrong step and Arthur found himself slipping down what was for some reason shaped like a slide, and he heard himself yelling, unable to figure out where he was even going to enjoy himself. This slide was thankfully short, and he ended up on his back, breathing hard, thanking the stars that he had Swimmer equipped so that he wasn't such a mess and that the water didn't cling to his clothes. ❝What the fuck?!❞
He could hear Kanya laugh behind him as the masked cat gracefully slid down the same slide with his paws. It reminded him of Tarzan in the limited lighting. The Mantyke, on the other hand, simply floated, not even using the slides. Lucky? The water type didn't look like she felt she was missing out.
And then there were the familiar shrieks and squawks. He quickly looked around, only to see that the Pidgeottos were also...riding the slides?! One practically launched itself at them before the Mantyke's quick thinking turned into a Supersonic and made the bird change direction at the last moment, crashing onto another slide.
❝Geez, as if things couldn't get any crazier.❞
Out of Arthur's sight, a lime green worm slid on another slide, like a colorful shooting star before disappearing into the darkness.

This floor's description was clear that they shouldn't tarry for too long, and sure enough, one Pidgeotto gave way to two, and more seemed to be on the way. He wasn't happy about riding more slides, but there wasn't much of a choice. He called Anta over to the next slide, and he had a stupid idea on what if he could move faster if he was being propelled by something? And since there was no one around to witness his foolishness, there was also nothing stopping him.
So Anta was on top of his head, and Arthur was holding onto her belly, and then she fired a Water Gun while they were on the slide. He let out another loud shriek, half laughter, half fear, all parts crazed, as they went down a much longer slide to gain some distance between the encroaching Pidgeottos. Frankly, it felt like they were racing the birds rather than other players! Oh right, they were racing, weren't they? Were they also dealing with this weirdness or was the tower nicer to them?

❝Gah, looks like the Tower is favoring you right now, Anta!❞ they reach the end of that particular water slide and land in a pool, making a splash. Even with Swimmer, that didn't stop water from entering his mouth of it got there, and so he had to spit out some and stuck out his tongue, tasting...err, well it tasted like water. He couldn't pinpoint what kind of water it was. He wasn't going to get poisoned with his digital body, was he?
Kanya was still following smoothly behind them, trying out new moves and just overall enjoying himself more than his trainer. Well, at least the Mantyke also seemed to be enjoying herself, bubbling in delight with all of the water and humidity. The Pidgeottos were still hot on their heels though, and there were four more slides to choose from for the next path. How much further down were they going to go..?
Suddenly, Arthur saw the lime green worm that was highlighted in the description go to the left most slide. Well, he wasn't sure if he was seeing things, but this time the worm was glowing, so it was much easier to spot. It sounded like a good idea to follow it, as they were technically protecting worms, weren't they? So worms were good guys!
Large birds soon descended upon them, and so he commanded Anta to use another Supersonic before they ran to the slide to follow the worm. The unlucky Pidgeotto was confused and started to attack its fellow avians, buying them some time. Kanya, who passed by the horde, simply gave a gesture of farewell before following along with a bit of a skip in his step.

Four times in a row? Okay, that was pretty weird, but he would take it for some quick turns down the slide rather than having to pull out another Pokemon and explain the situation! The next slide had plenty of twists and turns, and Arthur had to use his hands to steer so that his body wouldn't slam too hard on the sides of the natural slides. It reminded him of the water slides he rode as a child, but that was normally with some kind of lifesaver rather than his own body (it could easily get scrapped with this, especially if all he were wearing were swimming trunks). Thankfully, he was wearing pants, so the only thing that would get scratches were his hands.
One of the birds caught up, squawking and about to use its claws for something menacing, but Anta was right beside her trainer and blasted the bird with a face full of Water Gun. She let out a bubbled cry, kind of like a take that!
The caves continued to be barely illuminated by glowing moss, but the rest of it was dark. Arthur tried not to think about what else could be lurking in here, because this was supposed to be a bird challenge. This was not supposed to slide into another genre...

Well, five times in a row would've been kind of weird, he felt. He was thankful to have hatched the Druddigon since, as it turned out, he was the only one that qualified for this particular prompt. Not that he was thankful for only that, but it was just...you know what he meant.
He made sure to get to the end of the slide first (how many water slides was this now? For some reason that particular one felt like it lasted a really long time) and opened the Poke Ball to bring out the dragon. He let out a roar, looking around in the semi-dark cavern, before quickly turning his attention to the fast-approaching birds. Growling and glaring, he then stomped towards the near end of the landing before letting out another shout. Somehow, the shadows danced on the ridges of his scales, and that seemed to do the trick for now.

Instead of moving to the next slide, Arthur decided that he would take a stand here to get some of the other birds off their back (also it would be hard for some of his other Pokemon to fight properly if they were sliding down a water slide). The next prompt did support this, so he had to return Mugan before letting out Buru, who immediately went <Yuck!> at the humidity and all of the water and puddles. She definitely did not like her paws being wet, but if she wanted to get back in her dry Poke Ball, she needed to bite a bird with some sparks, or so that was what her trainer said. She growled and gnashed her teeth, but with the next round of birds approaching, she had little time to complain.
Asking for some support from Anta, she used the Mantyke as a stepping stone of sorts before jumping up higher in the air and landing on one of the birds. Opening her mouth wide, she let sparks burst and bounce out of her mouth before taking a bite.

Oh, Buru was not going to like this.
❝You have to use Lick next!❞
<What?!>
Kanya and Anta were trying to keep the other birds from getting too close, but they were ready to peck and their beaks were sharp. The bite was enough to stun the Pidgeotto beneath the Snubbull, but it looked like it was still hanging on, despite its body wavering and moving closer to the ground (well, the landing, but surrounding that rock formation was darkness and pits and that was not a fun thing to think about). Letting out a loud huff through her nose, she decided that she was just going to get it over with and launched herself to another nearby bird (the force pushed the previous Pidgeotto to a jutting rock spike - hitting the side with a THUMP). She grabbed the bird by the wing, immediately making it lose its balance, and then the Snubbull found the opportunity to give it a Lick on said wing, earning a huge expression of disgust from the Pidgeotto.
<Hey I don't want to do this either, birdbrain!>

The next prompt allowed Arthur to put the Snubull out of her embarrassing misery, though he felt like he needed to give her a wash later. He then brought out his only Alolan Pokemon, who made a splash on the puddles and let out a happy neigh. <Are we still beating up birds?>
❝We sure are.❞ Arthur replied, the fatigue fully evident in his voice, but still flying over the donkey's understanding anyway.
<Cool!> and he played with the water, stomped on it, made more splashes, mixing the wet soil before he could make a very satisfying Mud-Slap at a Pidgeotto who got to close. The bird immediately screeched and flapped its wings rapidly, as its eyesight was obscured.

He should really treat Buru to something nice after this.
He had to withdraw Banko (who was like, <Oh okay! I'll see ya when I see ya!>) and then bring out the Snubbull, who had really been pulling her weight throughout this whole tower challenge. Arthur would've been stuck in many prompts without her around, especially with her diverse move pool even if she was still fairly low leveled (well with all of the birds she was beating up, maybe she would be due for an evolution soon, when the time came). She let out a yell in frustration as her feet once again touched shallow water, splashing onto her dress-like fur. <What now?!>
Arthur looked sheepish. ❝Anything would do, actually.❞
She let out a huff, stomped on the ground (though not as heavy as Mugan, it still had similar effect), and bared a snarl at three incoming Pidgeotto, who were scared by her Scary Face. The less contact, the better, the Snubbull thought.

Oh shit, they were down to the last Pidgeotto for this area! He withdrew Buru and gestured Kanya and Anta to follow him down what seemed to be the last slide, at he could've sworn at the very bottom (which was a long, long way down) there was something glinting, green and glowing? He pulled out Bari, who was the only Galar Pokemon he had (he really needed to upgrade his boxes) and let him do whatever he wanted before they exited this floor.
Naturally, instead of attacking the birds, he stuffed his cheeks with the weird mushrooms growing on the edges of the landing and slides instead, because that was pretty interesting and seemed edible! Or so the squirrel said. He was midway with stuffing before a Pidgeotto swooped down to try to peck him, but he retaliated by spitting out one of the mushrooms right on the bird's face. He then went down the slide with his trainer, zipping down further into the depths with the water making them move faster.
Were they even going to the bottom, or was there more for them to descend?

The landing could have been better.
The last length of the slide had a number of twist and turns, so by the time he reached the end, he basically slipped and fell hands first into the water, which as it turned out, was deep and not shallow. Thankfully, with Swimmer equipped, he wasn't worried about drowning, but Kanya was certainly not pleased, as there was no place for him to stand. He withdrew the soggy masked cat for now, as Anta was the only Pokemon who was completely fine with the environment, but unfortunately it was not her prompt that rolled in.
Also, there was something underneath him that kind of freaked him out. When he put his head under the water, trying to remember that he could breath, he saw that they had...err, one eye? Something like that? But they were green and tiny and wriggly and ugh! But the game was telling him he had to follow them. Okay, sure, but they had to deal with the damn Pidgeottos first!
He looked around to find that there were a few places still, close to the edge of the cavern they were in, that had some place to stand. He threw his Poke Ball at that direction, and Buru was once again let out. She yelled, oh come on!, but at least her feet were sort of dry, and some of the Pidgeottos shifted their direction at her while Anta protected her trainer with Wide Guard.
<Grr! Leave them ALONE!> her bark echoed in the narrow walls, startling some of the birds into bumping into each other. Arthur wondered how the hell was this area was supposed to hold a bunch more trainers - it felt like there was nowhere else to go but down.

Oh fuck!
He only had one worm Pokemon, and that was a Pokemon that not only was going to make this area very claustrophobic, but there was no land area in sight that could even accommodate the huge snake. He didn't want to just--(waves his hands around)--let him land in the pool! That was like, tantamount to fainting!
Thinking fast, he told Anta that they were going to have to dive, but not to follow the worms -- the Mantyke stopped the Wide Guard to go into the water, with Arthur making sure to hold onto her. She had to dodge the dive-bombing Pidgeotto out of the way before building enough momentum to breech out of the water like a fucked up whale and throw Stura's Poke Ball as high as he could. The Onix that came out literally cast a shadow over the whole pool like an eclipse, and in that split second Arthur yelled, ❝Use Smack Down!❞
The rock snake's eyes widened at the water below him but obeyed, shooting an orange ball of pure energy at the Pidgeotto directly below his mouth. He was falling when this happened, about to hit the water with a sickening splash, but before that could occur, the trainer quick recalled the Poke Ball with the UI option and returned the Onix back into his Poke Ball. Perhaps only the bottom part touched the pool, the shadow quickly disappearing as soon as it appeared.

(Arthur made sure to also return Buru when he had the chance - it was really only Anta who could remain out in the field with the pool around them).
Some of the worms were wriggling downward, disappearing into an eerie void, but others seemed to watch and swirl under his feet, as if waiting for him to follow. The Pidgeotto weren't letting up though, and he had to pull out another Pokemon to answer the prompt. Where were the Anta prompts? Why were they all in the water slides?!
He let out Kanya and tried to aim for the rock wall, to which the masked cat was able to hang on with some of the edges jutting out. Not for long though, as there was barely any ledge to hang onto, but he didn't need a lengthy amount of time, anyway. Using the wall, he pushed his legs on it so that he could reach for one of the flying birds with a Quick Attack, tackling it with ease before it had a chance to dive-bomb. Arthur wasn't even paying attention to how these birds were recovering so quickly. In fact, it looked like once they dove in, they respawned, and more were just taking their place. Crazy!

Luckily, the next prompt was still something that Kanya can do, even if he was not happy about dodging the water by hopping on one Pidgeotto the next. As the birds squawked and rebelled, he had to fight his way, talon and beak, avoiding sharp jabs and scratches to land slashes of Magical Leaves, unable to miss at such close range. Anta assisted with Water Gun when she could, and even if the birds were dive-bombing into the pool, they were not doing it so quickly that Arthur couldn't dodge it on his own, but he was getting tired of swimming around (he wasn't exactly blessed with bountiful stamina, and this whole thing was really wearing him down).
If only this exercise translated into real life, but he hoped that the prompts would go by soon so that he could try to follow the worms below.
