Laguna was almost always happy to hear Orion, his voice paired with that silly accent he had whenever he tried to speak french for her was absolutely charming. But right now, his words were spoken, unknowing of the Beast that preferred its peace and quiet.
All its eyes would swiftly turn red as Orion appeared, his swearing immediately enough to send it into full attack mode. It charged forwards a few feet, only for something unexpected to happen. The Stakataka suddenly crumbled forwards, like a building being demolished by a wrecking ball. Soon enough, the entire danger of the situation had dissolved as the poor thing struggled to hold its shape.
A pitiable noise seemed to emanate from all one hundred and fifty bricks, no doubt in pain.
Laguna jumped to her own feet, panic in her own expression as she leaped forwards herself. "Orion! What are you doing here? I- Nevermind, help me look them over! No wonder they were just slumped in a pile here."
Marina would slip from Laguna's arms as she kneeled down to examine the bricks one by one. From this close, it was clear they had many cracks within their body. As if they had survived a fight with something else, and then came here to rest and heal. "Orion, quick, get a Support. Marina- I need you."
"W-what? I-" The Brionne's nerves were still rampant, but even she couldn't help but feel so sorry for the being, seeing all the small fractures across its bricks. She didn't even respond, just slowly leaning down, giving it a few gentle bubble kisses, restoring a few of its wounds. Once it seemed mostly able to take at least some form of shape again, Laguna would gently hold out the Pokeball, pressing it against the Stakataka. It was swiftly caught, although clearly it could leave at any time.
Perhaps it just enjoyed the silence within the ball.
"Firstly," Laguna would smile up to Marina, immediately wrapping her arms around the seal and squeezing hard. "I am so proud of you."
Marina blushed furiously, a nervous giggle escaping her lips as her confidence slowly returned. "It was hurt, what else was I going to do? Refuse? I don't think so."
"And secondly?" Her gaze would then drift over to Orion with a faint smirk. "Missed me that much you just had to come looking for me?"

The Ultra Beast did not stir, and so neither did Laguna. She was content to sit there, to try her best to relax, and simply take in the majesty of the being. One hundred and fifty different stone bricks, all controlled by one single being. She wasn't sure if it was more of a hivemind situation, or if it simply had its consciousness split apart over all of them. But at that point, did it matter which was which?
However, as Laguna was content to relax, Marina was uneasy. She couldn't look at the beast, feeling its piercing gaze staring into her very heart. Every eye another needle, stabbing into her flesh. And as hard as she tried to be calm, to relax, she struggled.
Eventually, after a few moments had passed, Marina suddenly spoke up. "-I'm scared."
"Do you want to go back into the ball?" Laguna's voice was incredibly soft and gentle, but it seemed the conversation alone was enough for the Stakataka to suddenly move in response to the sound. Some of its bricks twisted and twirled, flying and piling together as it began to reform. "You can always do that."
"N-no! I can't leave you alone with that thing!" Marina suddenly shouted in a bit of a panic.
One red eye suddenly pierced through all the blue ones, and Laguna instinctively reached up to gently placed a hand over Marina's lips as she spoke incredibly softly. "Shh... They don't like noise, it seems. It's okay to be scared, I promise. Just... breath. Look at me, lock eyes with me."
Marina's eyes were incredibly wide, sheer panic, but she nodded slowly, shutting their eyes tightly.

Laguna was careful to avoid the broken glass, and random assortment of screws and oddly product-placement filled power tools. How many people paid to have their name in this game? Only to find that it was half buried in sand, and in a ruined building almost nobody would find?
Hydance must be raking in all the dough.
"Have you found the flooring section yet?" Laguna spoke up quietly, speaking to the Brionne who swam upwards for a moment, peeked around, and then dipped back down to safety.
"Not yet. I did see a lot of weird bricks by the toilets though." Marina began, seemingly not aware of what that might be.
"... Weird, bricks?" Laguna suddenly pivoted, slowly making her way towards the plumbing aisles. "What did they look like?"
"Uh, Grey? Some had these blue dots in the middle. Doesn't make sense to me, you can't build a toilet with bricks. Can you?"
She chuckled, but immediately shook his head. "No no. If what you're describing is right, then you've found another Ultra Beast." Almost as soon as she finished saying those two words, she could feel Marina swiftly grow tense again.
"A-and why are we going towards it?" They spoke so hesitantly, fear audible in her tone.
"Because, we're going to try and befriend it." Marina looked incredulously at her, stunned silent, but Laguna swiftly continued. "I'm hoping Cygnus can help them learn to communicate with us. Or at least, understand how they think. They can handle corruption without being hurt... They would all be such powerful friends, and I'd rather make those than enemies."
Marina was quiet for a long time, before eventually nodding their head in response. It made sense, but they were still terrified. Laguna just wrapped her arms around the Seal, holding them against her chest as she continued forwards, stepping over broken pipes, shelves, and grills. Sure enough, she eventually found the toilet section, and a huge pile of stone bricks were resting in the middle of them all. All at once, the blue "dots" that she recognized as eyes seemed to glance over at her, but Laguna didn't move forwards any further. Instead, she just sat down, looking up at them quietly.
She said nothing. It said nothing. It seemed far more interested in some of its bricks sitting inside toilets, bathtubs, and digging around in broken plumbing, but its eyes all glared at Laguna with a silent look.

"It's okay, dear." Laguna let out a long sigh, closing her eyes as she squeezed the partner Pokemon close. "I know how you feel. I had... plenty of panicking moments myself, after that. I still struggle a lot. Some of them took our friends, so I feel-"
"Guilty?" Marina suddenly finished their sentence, and suddenly the two both nodded. It seems like they both really understood. Marina hadn't quite forgiven herself for being caught, and then both Sheldon and Hoppy sacrificing themselves just for her.
And Laguna couldn't quite forgive herself for any of them. No Pokemon should have ever had to sacrifice... To be taken against their will, to struggle and hurt. But they were here now, and she knew full well that Glacia would be giving her that same stern eye they always had. Telling her that she shouldn't worry, that she knew everything would be okay in the end. If only Laguna had such strong belief as well.
"We should keep going, Marina. If we can't help them all right now, then we should make the Hotel the most perfect place for them to come back to. Surprise them with a home away from home."
"Yeah, I'd like that." The Pokemon nuzzled against her for a moment, before gripping onto Laguna's shoulders again as the two stepped out from beneath the crumpled shelving.

Right away, Laguna landed face first right in front of a Celesteela. The massive titan seemed to be sleeping inside the giant warehouse of the hardware store, a place to actually keep its form shaded from the intense sun. And now Laguna was disturbing it. It suddenly twisted, its small head twisting on its massive body to look down at her. No eyes were visible, behind what she could only assume was hair, but Laguna smiled a bit sheepishly anyways. Marina also was deathly quiet, quietly gripping onto Laguna's shoulders.
"H-hey... Umm, sorry to break in. But we're going to look around. Is that okay?" She spoke up ever so quietly, her feet already taking a few soft steps trying to step around them.
Only for a huge gust of gas and flames to pour from its rocket arms, and Laguna let out a loud yelp, swiftly shifting into overdrive as she dashed away as fast as she could, only managing to get a few more minor burns. Now suddenly tucked behind many shelves in a makeshift cave, Laguna finally let out a long sigh, reaching over to pat Marina. "It's okay, hon. We're-"
"It was gonna eat us! Like Sheldon, and Hoppy, and-" Marina was suddenly hyperventaliting, and Laguna immediately felt her heart break.
She didn't realize how much that weighed on her, too.
"Shh, no no. It's okay, It's okay." She spoke softly, moving to hug the seal close and kiss their head. "Ultra Beasts are just... Pokemon. They're from a weird place, and they don't think like us. It's okay, just relax, I got you."
"... Okay." Marina shuddered a bit, but eventually relaxed in her trainer's arms. "Sorry I just- I panicked."

"See anything good?" Laguna shouted up to Marina, shading her eyes from the sun as she looked up.
"Hmmm," Marina hummed in thought, eyes scanning across a few of the lower lying buildings. "I see a few places that probably were apartments, but the sands have completely covered the sides. We'd be digging for a while. But- Aha!" The Brionne shouted in excitement, swiftly dropping down out of the air and catching herself a few feet from the ground, swimming back up to Laguna's face.
"I saw a hardware store in the distance! They probably have those massive rolls of carpets! And like, maybe tools! And maybe something we can use to carry it all back with!"
"Marina, you are a genius!" The two of them immediately highfived once again, rubbing noses affectionately for just a second before the duo dashed across the dunes towards their destination. Jumping up and gliding down the sands like she was surfing, it still felt... wrong, but doing this with some of her other friends felt right.
Sure enough, a hardware store finally came into site. The dunes had punctured a hole in the wall of the building, and the parking lot was an absolute wreck of vehicles, but it seemed plenty open enough for investigations. Of course, such a large place probably was holding many an Ultra Beast inside. Stomaching her nerves, she'd step up, climbing in through the crack and dropping down on the inside.

Traveling through the sands of the dunes felt different without Glacia gliding by her side. She was always there, running and jumping by her side as if nothing was ever wrong. As if exploring this section of the city was nothing but just another adventure.
It wasn't a surprise to realize that she felt kind of lonely.
What she needed right now, was a comforting presence. Someone who could enjoy the exploration with her, and not be too serious about it. Someone who could make her smile.
So she summoned Marina quickly, the seel Pokemon immediately popping into view with a multitude of bubbles, immediately swirling around Laguna with a quiet chuckle. "Heya hon, what we doing in this dry place, huh?"
Laguna couldn't help but smile, reaching up to gently give the seel Pokemon a high five on her flipper. "Just searching some old apartments to try and find some rugs to steal for Hotel Plasma. Think you can help me find them? Maybe wash them off to get an actual look at what they are?"
"Yeah, I can do that!" She seemed excited, letting out a few more bubbles before swimming upwards through the air in a spiraling circle as she scouted out the nearest building that seemed reasonable to search.

The Xurkitree twisted and coiled, like a viper waiting to pounce, but never releasing that tension. Like a cord twisting and twisting, ready to snap back, only it never did. Perhaps it too, was waiting for something that never seemed to come.
'"... You can't understand us. And that's okay." She swallowed her nerves, forcing herself to speak up as it continued to twist. "English isn't my strong suit either, I get it. But-"
She paused, slowly shifting one of her hands down to her hips. With a brief glance over at Orion, a nervous grin forming, she suddenly held out her Golden Pokeball.
"But you recognize images, don't you? Even if you don't know what it is, you've seen this before, haven't you?"
The Xurkitree suddenly twisted around horrifically, wires digging into the earth and ripping up some more asphalt of the road. Was it fear? Excitement? Perhaps some unknown emotion she couldn't comprehend nor imagine? Or perhaps something else all together.
And yet, before Laguna could properly panic, the Xurkitree suddenly untwirled. Arms spiraling out, coils unwinding drastically, until the figure slumped onto the ground like a messy server room. In the end, it seemed to just lazily hold up one single wire, directed directly towards the Pokeball. Her heart was pounding away, but she couldn't deny the soft smile that spread across her face as she simply dropped the pokeball onto them, watching them vanish instantly within.
All tension immediately left her body, and Laguna immediately shifted over to press a soft kiss to Orion's cheek. Her smile was tinged with sadness, the greyed out form of Omnia in her boxes still weighed on her. "Well, my girl's night went as well as I expected, but I appreciate it you being here. Think I might log off for a while, clear my head and focus first. Okay?"

Zone One Laguna outright jumped when Orion landed on the small boat beside her, her heart still pounding out of her chest. Any second now, she swore they'd find her friends. Her baby. It was hard to focus when she was so overwhelmed with guilt, but seeing him there still encouraged a smile to form on her face.
She wasn't hurting alone. She could see that look in his eyes he tried to hide.
orioncayge was here for his friends too. So was everyone else. People lost their partners, family, friends, and everything in between.
She'd reach a hand over to brush against his, a few hearts suddenly forming, floating upwards. "I'm okay." She lied, but they both had to know it was one. "I'll feel a lot better once my babies are in my arms again."
"Once they are safe and sound."
Her Pokemon were quiet, committed to the cause, as Roxxanne continued to press forwards, the weight of the small yacht atop her back was nothing in comparison to her raw strength. As Mr. Business seemed to just dig into his briefcase, as if searching for some solution to the problems at hand. And yet, nothing could have prepared any of them for what they saw next. She had seen the colorless Pokemon, prepared for it even, but to see them up and moving, beyond their own control, forced to attack the very people attempting to save their lives, her heart downright broke.
Rocks were thrown at Sheldon as he mindlessly struck back, his shell empty of colors except what little had been restored so far.
Hoppy had slammed themselves into Adze, their legs unnaturally stretched, as if they had forgotten how to jump properly.
And-
Glacia. She was bitten by a friendly Granbull, but her heart couldn't stand watching it. She had to do something- But what could she do? Even if their color was restored, the fighting wouldn't be over. They'd still be in danger, and-
Suddenly, a gloved hand rested atop her shoulder before her thoughts could spiral.
"Go to them." Mr. Business suddenly spoke, nodding his head and adjusting his tie as a sudden burst of ice covered his gloves, Buffing himself. "Me and Roxanne have this covered. We can handle combat all on our own. Your babies need you."
"But-"
"Go!" Roxxanne suddenly shouted, refusing to allow Laguna to continue arguing. "Bring my cousins home!"
With tears dripping down her face, Laguna would nod back, before finally acting. She'd step back aboard the yacht, before dashing forth was as much energy as she could. Her legs carrying her step after step until she jumped straight off the deck, her cloak catching the air and carrying her forwards as she dashed off towards the first one of her Pokemon who had their colors restored.
Towards Glacia.
All the while, Mr. Business kicked his heels and slid down the Onix's head until landing on the ground. "Up to us, my fair lady. Corral them, will you? I shall bring color back to their flesh."
"But of course. Allow me to just-" Roxanne stretched, suddenly twisting and standing upwards to their full height. The yacht that had previously been attached to their back crumbled under the force of their unorthodox movement, the rotted wood crumpling under the pressure and falling behind them. "Much better."
Roxanne suddenly roared out loud, a warning to everyone else to get out of the way as the massive rock snake twisted forth, wrapping their form around each colorless Pokemon until Mr. Business had restored color to them. Occasionally using items from his briefcase, to bring life back to them.
Suddenly providing a bottle of fresh mineral water for an aggressive Surskit that bit them with a well placed Recycle, restoring color as he sprayed them like one might a disobedient cat.
A quick tap of his heels for a proper Rain Dance, raining down healing waters atop the Piplup from a safe position atop Roxanne's head, who was trying to spray water back at him. All clear, another one done.
Curling around the Swirlix, he'd suddenly distract them from trying to bite him with a Dazzling Gleam, the light enhanced from this shiny CD he "borrowed" from an office building.
The Grookey was another case, and as odd as it was, he couldn't help but grin. Normally, he'd have nothing to assist with Grass. But he had recently been given a special tool-
Reaching into his , he'd suddenly pull out a massive Wood Hammer, that absolutely should not fit within the briefcase. He'd slam it down onto the ground beside the Grookey with such an intense force, attempting to remind the Grookey of its line's nature for wooden percussion.
All that were left, were Hoppy and Sheldon, and Mr. Business and Roxanne slid across the ground towards them-
"Glacia!"
Consciousness slowly returned, a soreness that had soaked deep within their form. Their cold air had been quelled, the fire deep within their soul had been smothered. It was like waking up from a coma mixed with sleep walking, and despite not being too injured, the hurt was inside.
"Momma's here, momma's here- Glacia, please, say something." Laguna suddenly picked up the Bergmite into her arms, craddling them close.
Eyes opened, as if opening for the very first time, gazing up across the face of the one thing they never wanted to see. Laguna was crying, a deep hurt had formed within her heart, and the injured Bergmite wanted nothing more than to reach a nonexistant hand up to brush their tears away.
TV-Static flickered within their spines, a fire swiftly returning to their spirit. A firm look in her eyes, such determination building from a seemingly bottomless well. "Momma? Carry me back to the others, I can hear fighting, we have to help."
Perhaps just minutes ago, Laguna would have outright refused. She would have stubbornly refused, argued and shouted like an overprotective mother. But she realized something in that very moment, something she couldn't deny any more.
Glacia wasn't a baby anymore.
The tears began to pour, and yet Laguna couldn't help but let out a quiet chuckle despite it all. It was so absurd, her emotions melting inside of her, and she wasn't quite sure how she was still standing, but somehow she managed. "Alright, hon. Just... Just promise me you'll be more careful."
The iceberg chuckled back, a sad smile on their face. "You know I can't do that."
"Hoppy! Sheldon! It's me!" Mr. Business twirled his feet as he danced around the impromptu arena that Roxanne made by surrounding the three Pokemon. The Froakie and Squirtle were simply leaping forwards, each attempting to bite onto the fashionable business man.
"They don't recognize you!" Roxanne shouted, her tail reaching into the pit to attempt to guard Mr. Business from their attacks, pushing the smaller Pokemon aside. "Ever since you got that makeover, even I-"
"Oh! Now that only makes too much sense. Remind me to support for you Employee of the year, Roxanne."
"Uh, thanks?"
With a sudden twirl of his feet, Mr. Business began a two-part Teeter Dance. The first part twirling water droplets, washing over Hoppy, and the second forming a cool breeze to wash over Sheldon. But neither of the Pokemon were restored, and with the Pokemon unable to see the Tooltips, he was at quite a loss for what else to use. Everything else seemed fairly straightforwards.
Suddenly, Laguna came skating back, with snowflakes and flames on her heels as she dashed. Just a glimpse at her four Pokemon alone revealed the tooltips to her.
"Roxanne!" She shouted, skidding to a halt. "Hoppy needs Dragon Breath! Be gentle!"
The gentle giant immediately pulled back, letting out a powerful gust of swirling gases that knocked the Froakie back, after trying to claw at her stones.
All the colors returned back to their body, and surprisingly they were still managing to cling to consciousness. Laguna would scoop them up too, a soft smile forming on her face. Even as Sheldon the Squirtle continued his mindless rampage, at least by now, she knew they could be better. The process was working.
"Welcome back, sweetheart. You okay?"
"Ugh-" Was all Hoppy's reply at first, the frog clinging to her arms with his sticky pads as if it would help ground themselves. "Where are we- Sheldon!" The frog immediately panicked, memories flooding back of their grand sacrifice, glancing upwards and seeing the turtle still lacking some colors not themselves, an empty look in their eyes.
"Someone, help him!!"

The Xurkitree continued to spark, its wires twisting and coiling like a pit of vipers swirling in on itself into oblivion. It never seemed to moved closer, keeping its distance from the two trainers standing on the road. A few more wires ripped up from the earth, betraying just how many the the creature truly had.
It made noises, but none of them were any that Laguna recognized. It felt almost like it was attempting a communication, zaps and cracks and sparks and whip smacks from cables filled the air. There was no understanding, no reasoning. Whatever the Trainers were doing, whatever they were saying, it clearly did not interpret it as was intended.
And yet, despite the language barrier, it eventually moved.
It approached closer, and Laguna froze on instinct. She didn't dare back up, didn't bare to move. Simply standing her ground, and squeezing Orion's own hand as hard as she could.
Her fear felt so tangible as it filled the air, but the Xurkitree moved through it like he was slicing like a hot knife through jello. They eventually moved so close, the sparks from the cables were bouncing off of her clothing.
Laguna audibly gasped, steeling her resolve as she finally spoke again. "We want to help. I know a very smart man who can maybe try and help us understand you. J-just-"
Her words were suddenly interrupted, as wires immediately twisting around the trainers standing there, twisting and coiling like a tornado of wires trapping them within. Laguna's breath caught in her throat, and she could swear she felt her neck still burning.

HARBOR ENTRANCE MOVING TO ZONE ONE Sheldon. The first Pokemon Laguna had ever caught, having a battle right there on the Beta Coastline. The Squirtle stood by her side, valiantly doing his hardest, ready to do fight against a glitching deity of the ocean. Always arguing with, but secretly best friends with-
Hoppy. The Froakie loved his log, taking naps inside of it. The brain to Sheldon's brawn, keeping them both in check. He also stood at her side, keeping her heart in check when Groudon's shrine required a sacrifice-
Glacia.
Oh, Glacia.
Glacia was the first Pokemon Laguna had ever hatched. Her baby, with so much excited energy who loved to skate, who adored cuddling after a long day of hard work. The Pokemon she had dived into the Everworld twice to recover, fighting against the claws of fate to restore them. The Pokemon that had changed, grown-
Became a selfless hero.
And now, she was gone. Again. They were all gone.
She stood atop the roof of an old, small yacht which had been tied around the back of her Onix. The shimmering Pokemon's stones gleamed like an ice sculpture, water rushing off their body as they pushed forth, and a small little ferret-like rock Poke-Pet rode atop their head, squeaking softly. Roxxanne, she had been loyally at her side since before Briarbane even founded its roots, and she could never be more thankful for their company.
There was little others that she trusted so implicitly to protect herself, and others.
Standing next to her, stood an impeccable business man, leaning forwards as he gripped onto one of the ropes with his gloved hands. His pressed black suit made him a distinct sight amidst all the other Pokemon, not to mention the suitcase carefully being held in their other hand. Mr. Business had been with her for such a short time, but he has been nothing if not the most reasonable fellow.
Laguna trusted him to help restore the colors of the Pokemon, and to keep herself in check, in case her emotions overwhelmed her.
Meanwhile, Laguna herself had never been more prepared for combat. Cool Jorts, comfortable and chill, activated right away, spreading the frigid winds and coating all nearby within ice. Wand of the Winds already twirling in her hands, the frigid air swirling around her like the center of a small storm, carrying her Rainbow Flame Cloak upwards as shiny, gleaming feathers bounced all the colors of a majestic prism. Sparks and flames already erupted from her heels as her Trailbalzer Kicks readied to carry her forth as fast as they possibly can.
But most importantly, resting at her waist like a sword ready to be drawn, was the Phoenix Feather. Flames carried forth from the tip, burning with such intensity despite the cool air.
She was ready, physically. But emotionally?
It didn't matter if she was, or wasn't.
The raid was beginning soon.
"Roxanne! Business!" She shouted out, watching the timer tick downwards, closer and closer. "Whatever happens in there, no matter what. I-" Her words failed her, but it seemed the Pokemon understood what went unsaid. They both nodded slowly. "I- Thank you."
Mr. Business simply nodded his head, a soft, confident grin on his face like he was about to walk into the world's most dangerous business meeting full of tie-eating sharks in bloody waters with locked doors and a rising water level, and somehow walk out with the contract to the legal rights of the Jaws franchise. Impossibly stoic, how she envied his confidence.
Roxanne, however, twisted their massive head around, glancing back at Laguna as the Poke-Pet scrambled around to remain atop. Her voice ever as naturally sultry, a confidence in their tone. "Auntie, we shall find our brothers and sisters, and restore the balance of this land. But we, could also not do this without you."
Tears dripped down Laguna's cheek, but she nodded back all the same. The clock struck zero, it was time. The Dragon's Den reversed, carrying players down into the bottom, to properly grant players safe passage to the depths beyond, and a glimpse at another dungeon beyond. Now, however, was the time to focus. Laguna and Business rode on the back of the Yacht-carrying Onix, swirling down into the depths.
A massive underground pool with water thick like blood, soaking everything except Laguna's clothes, whicking off of her. Mr. Business, however, had planned for the occasiona, discarding his umbrella to the side that he seemingly pulled from his suitcase.
Mr. Mimes, man.
Laguna's eyes watched as everyone kicked it into gear, restoring color to the pale Pokemon. It almost made her sick, the sight of it all. This... happened to Sheldon, Hoppy, and Glacia, she was sure of it.
She almost threw up.
Almost.
Hearing orioncayge shouting about getting everyone up, forced her to get a hold of herself. They couldn't delay, she couldn't afford to hurt. She'd save them. She had to.
"Business, I think it's time to get to work, don't you think?"
"Oh, and here I thought I had just started working Overtime." A subtle smirk, a quiet chuckle, and then the man immediately twirled into work. His large tap-dancing shoes clapped against the yacht deck, echoing in the chamber.
"Time to support our shareholders-" A powerful ice-infused twirl carried mystical energy itself towards various colorless Pokemon, Wingull, Finizen, Piplup, and Oshawott. A powerful Safeguard would wash over them, ice protecting them from the elements.
"And ensure that we are cash flow positive." Mr. Business continued, suddenly twirling in the opposite direction as his feet continued to tap away, summoning a Rain Dance that poured down atop the Finizen and Piplup, who looked like they needed a drink.
All the while, a cold, refreshing breeze would wash over themself, readying to keep healing as often as they could.
Laguna could not help but crack at least a bit of a smile at all the nonsensical business statements. "Roxanne! Carry us forth!"
"Aye, Auntie. We have more to free, within." The Onix would slither forwards like a giant snake, carrying forth. "My cousins await us, we shall not delay."
