Underground was a whole different experience. In the water, she was used to struggling to tell which way was up for a bit. Albeit dangerous, given her ability to breathe underwater it wasn't all that upsetting. Underground, however, it was easy to tell which direction was up, but given there were not even any landmarks underground, but she imagined with intense magnetic fluctuations of the Steppes even an ordinary compass probably couldn't have told them which way they were facing.
And yet, diving into the belly of the beast excited her. Laguna smiled wide as she watched the Steelix dive into the earth below. Her feet struggled to find balance, a thought that was remarkably upsetting to her, but she pushed past the shaky feeling. So long as she had her BERGMITE and her POPPLIO by her side, she should be fine.
"Yeah, yeah, we catch the drift! Beat up any bad guys who come a-running." She'd speak up to the mustached man. "Leave it to us."
At the mention of gear, however, Laguna's eyes narrowed as she saw the FREEZE GRENADE. She quickly reached out to grab the device with a quick yoink. There was no second-guessing her answer.

Laguna blinked as her vision slowly faded in. The world loading around her, the first thing she noticed was the firm ground beneath her feet did not exist. She had become so accustomed to standing and walking and running in VR that suddenly finding herself sitting down caused her a minor state of panic. A completely irrational fear of her legs not working in this virtual world overtaking her.
Almost on instinct, she leaped to her feet before she even realized where she was. The carriage cared not for her confusion, however. Not only did she immediately slam her head into the roof of the closed carriage, but the continued motion forwards by the horses pulling the carriage swept her off her feet. Tumbling, she ended up half-upside down on her own seat and half on the floor.
She groaned in pain, clutching her head, finally noticing someone across the carriage from her. Almost immediately, her cheeks began to turn a soft pink. Now, this was absolutely embarrassing, and she had no explanation for this one. None that she would admit to, anyway. "Uh, whoops?"
Finally, Laguna would take a moment to actually look around. She was in a carriage, presumably for the new expansion. The cowboy hat Professor Ash had given her finally made sense. She had to take a few moments to actually collect herself, properly sitting back down into her seat. "Hey, uh, sorry if I scared you. I got- uh, confused why I wasn't where I used to be. Yeah. I guess Beta Island really is just, gone for now, huh? I'm Laguna."
Of course, her eyes would gradually drift over to the blue egg. How curious, had he recently visited the Rookery?

Laguna had to admit, the Misty Timberland was incredibly beautiful. It was beautiful in a different way than the other regions, or the town itself. The mist kind of curled around the trees, obscuring sight in perhaps the most elegant, yet spooky way imaginable. It spoke to her inner love and passion for horror films, it really did.
And yet, she was determined to see it all. Despite the obvious problem being the mist, of course. Her first step was to go to the Shrine. Just by the sound of it alone from what she had overheard from the others, it seemed absolutely intriguing. A giant hole, an abyss that went down so far nobody had dared attempt to discover.
A part of her almost wanted to find out, despite knowing how obviously dumb that was. You had to respect the shrines of these legendary pokemon, after all.
"Come on Glacia, we got a shrine to see- Wait, where are you?" She'd turn around, only to not see her Bergmite at all. She could certainly hear them, seemingly running around on the ground around her feet, but the little gal was too small to even be seen through the thick mist here.
Immediately deciding that thick mist obscuring her vision from Glacia brought up bad memories, she reached down to pick up the iceberg and walk with them in hand. "Come on, let's find something fun, shall we?"

"Optional?" She tilted her head, incredibly confused. Did she miss something along the way? She totally wouldn't put it past her to miss something obvious like that. Still, the idea of a golden Pokeball did sound quite appealing.
As Big Bee mentioned the area, she herself turned around to get a close look at it all. It felt so real. Considering she hadn't really left the city in years if she looked normal and nobody told her this was a game, she'd completely believe it was real. The insane power of video games these days.
"Ooh, I love the swimming too! I'll admit, I used to be on my track team in high school! It's, err, been a while though! Like, 5 years since I graduated, you know?" The brief thought of her senior year getting cut short by the accident definitely popped into her head, but she intentionally ignored it for now.
Sure enough, as she looked out across the ocean of grass something suddenly disturbed the grass. It shifted about as if something was traveling towards them. Laguna clutched at the Pokeball on her hip, sending out her own starter pokemon. The Popplio swam around her in the air, benefitting from her Swimmer class abilities.
Sure enough, a Patrat popped out of the underbrush, teeth bared and clearly ready to attack. "Oh man, consider me unsurprised it's a rodent! Everyone's first encounter, huh?" She'd laugh with a grin spreading across her face, pointing out towards the Patrat. "Marina! Aqua Jet!" The Popplio let out a battle cry, building up water all around them as they slammed forwards with incredible speed. The two pokemon flew backward, straight into the underbrush, and immediately gone from sight.
"Oh, uh, oops. No wonder they say tall grass is dangerous. Especially with little pokemon."

Laguna was totally unprepared for Professor Ash's change. She went from serious, calm, and polite to eager to like a little schoolgirl who was just told it was time for recess. She was definitely excited beyond any words Laguna had to describe the situation, and she couldn't help but smile sheepishly in response.
And then she asked her questions, and Laguna is quick to nod her head. "As far as I can tell! I mean, when Glacia was just, floating away, I imagine she was just a spirit at that point. And, well, she's definitely not a ghost!" She would casually summon her Bergmite, the exciteable pokemon already sliding across the ground of the laboratory.
There were definitely a lot of questions left unanswered. Did Groudon claim the island was theirs because it was a video game and they were the protagonists? Or was there something else, a bit more interesting involved? Just how could one return back to Everworld, to rescue any of those pokemon that people just, banish, unwilling to fight for?
She's immediately caught off guard by the hug, but she definitely leans in to give the professor a hug. It seems she affected the Professor more than she'll probably ever know. Laguna would give her a tight squeeze, eventually stumbling back after a few moments.
"I'll definitely record any notes in the future, yeah! There are like, three shrines in Asper! So I'll do some snooping about, maybe I can see if I can interview anyone else about Everworld! I don't remember everyone who made a sacrifice, but some of them have to know something!"
With that, Laguna would give Professor Ash a wave, and begin once again making her way out. "C'mon Glacia! We got a whole new region to explore!"

"On the topic of Everworld,
Somehow, I knew how to get to the Everworld without explanation. Teleportation, of some kind. Though I do not believe I could repeat such a feat, unless another one of my Pokémon perishes, a feat I do not intend to do willingly. Perhaps there is another way, it is simply unknown to me.
I found an endless hall before me, large red traditional gates, and pillars of glowing light seemed to hang from the ceiling. Although, I saw no ceiling in sight. Gold-robed statues lined this hall, and those that were whole seemed to wear masks of Pokémon. I presume these to be Pokémon who had lost their lives recently.
Meowth, Dustox, Sobble, Popplio, Bergmite, Dewott, and Shinx.
I have vivid memories of looking over these statues and being quite upset over Glacia's apparent death.
Shortly after my appearance, a gray cloaked figure appeared before me. Their body seemed to be amorphous, with no set shape. It didn't walk, more accurately hovered as it approached me. Near its presence, all color seemed to fade. Like the ink ran out while using a color printer slowly. Everything was grey, asides from the golden mask they wore that became more apparent as it approached.
Their words, unlike mine before, are burned into my mind. I could not forget their statements if I tried. I know not how they spoke, they simply did. I've gone over his statements over and over again in the text, and I do believe they are mostly accurate. I fear I might not ever forget them, actually. Panicked as I was with Glacia's death, their words, and what followed, might never be forgotten." Notably, just like Groudon, anytime his words are written she uses a fancy color. They are clearly written with an orange pen for dramatic effect. "You seek a phantom. A visage that wanders my endless halls. There is a price to reverse what had been done. You will be tested."
Somehow, as seems to be the case with these mysterious things, I instinctively know his name is Seta, as it continues to speak to me.
"Unless you wish to abandon the spirit? After all, there is always room in my palace. And perhaps, another, more fitting, trainer will come to claim them."
It is to my understanding, that dead Pokémon can be reclaimed by anyone, who chooses not to rescue them. To banish them. I am unsure how one would go about rescuing these banished Pokémon when access to it seems dependent on having your own to rescue.
Again, the being spoke. His words were still impossible to forget.
"So you wish to bring a spirit back with you? Answer me truthfully: What makes you think your ghost wishes to return after what happened? What will be different this time? Nothing returns from this realm unchanged. You too must change, if you are to win back the lost."
I responded to the being, but I regretfully do not recall all my words. I was again in adrenaline, and fear that Glacia might be banished for good. I remember calling her a hero, that she sacrificed herself for her home. That such a kind soul does not deserve to be doomed before their time. I explicitly remember saying she was cuddly, and likely wanted to cuddle again. I believe she cuddled upon my lap, during our interview earlier.
Most importantly, I asked how I must change to win her back. I was determined. Glacia, of all my Pokémon, has impacted me the most on my journey.
"You speak from the heart, but I can not give you the answers. I can only ask the right questions."
From there, I was led to some kind of hole in the wall. It appeared like some kind of shadow covered the other side, appearing akin to a doorway.
"Through here. You answered well, and now you have your chance. Nothing is freely given, especially life."
From there, I entered the shadowed doorway and ended up somewhere else entirely. I theorize that everyone who speaks to this Seta will encounter a trial unique to them. For me, I encountered something rather specific. I found myself in a foggy area, attempting to stand on what I can only presume to be frozen clouds.
The air was thin, so I was very up high, and it was hard to breathe. Glacia's cries were heard from somewhere and growing more distant as time passed, and the challenge became apparent. I had to jump from frozen platform to platform, whilst struggling to see said platforms. Given the frozen nature of each, not only was traction difficult, but they were sharp and uneven. I had to leap from platform to platform, some to even platforms that were too high to jump to, and required me to pull myself up by my hands, on sharp, yet slippery ice.
I remember a lot of jumps to spiraling platforms and a lot of injuries. My legs were bruised and bloodied, and so were my hands. At one point, I even mistimed a jump due to the slippery platforms and slammed my face into one, falling down a few feet, but not before likely breaking my nose upon the side of the platform. My body refused to move for a time.
Adrenaline, however, is a miracle drug. The fear within me of losing Glacia for good was too much. Somehow, and I don't know if I'll ever have this much strength again, I pushed through. I just simply jumped without thinking, the memory of the pain is still so real, and yet numb at the same time.
At the end, I ended up spiraling up into above the clouds. The air was impossibly thin, but I managed to jump off the platform and grab Glacia, who had apparently been floating further and further away with every passing second, despite her desperate attempts to get to me.
It was only afterwards, that I heard Seta's voice once again, as I fell into the abyss past the clouds, wherever I truly was. I know not from where his voice came from, only that I heard it.
"When faced with loss, you took a leap of faith. You have passed the Trial of Fog."
I returned to the hall after fading into black, finding myself holding Glacia still in my arms. And from there, I was able to return home. To my mother's house, literally, and get patched up. The magic of UNOVR Healthcare.
However, I have noticed an odd irregularity. Ever since that day, Glacia has been able to make great leaps. The move, High Jump Kick has apparently been leaned by her since the event. In fact, she seems to enjoy doing so quite often, crashing down with great force. It's almost a bit too coincidental to my actions during the trial, to be unrelated.
In summary, I believe that should a Pokémon perish, if an individual is able to arrive at Everworld, answer his questions and complete his difficult trial, one is free to return with their Pokémon changed for their time there. Said trial probably has variations, I would imagine. I sensed no malice within Seta during my time, only a calculated sort of treatment. As in, that was simply how things worked there. Death was a fact of reality, just like life."

"On the topic of the Bedrock Shrine,
Tunnels beneath the Brimstone Crater led us beneath, into this warm, steam-filled cave that smelled like burnt matches, or perhaps rotten eggs. The Miniature Porygons from C0D13 exposed these tunnels before and were safely wiped out before proceeding below.
The cave was hot, like the inside of an oven that had been boiling water, perhaps. Black rock formed the walls in every direction, while large stalactites hung down from above. One most notably, reached all the way down into this underground pool, that was glowing with red crystals that seemed to resemble jaws, of some kind.
There was this, presence about the room. I don't believe I have the words to describe it properly. The kind of presence where you know you're not supposed to be there, something powerful lives there. Legendary Pokémon still confuse me, but their presence is surely something I need not describe in detail.
Somehow... all of us trainers just, knew what could be done. We had to awaken the shrine, and we somehow all knew how to attempt it as well. Pray, or sacrifice a Pokémon. Some Pokémon were carelessly sacrificed. I have memories of a Sobble screaming in anger. After 5 Pokémon had been sacrificed, I only began because Glacia, my Bergmite, convinced me it was the right thing to do. She had been but recently hatched at the High Tide Shrine, so young, and yet so willing to sacrifice herself for the good of all.
We will return to Glacia and her importance in the second report.
As Glacia is reluctantly sacrificed, I made a prayer. I do not remember every word, as it was spoken in adrenaline, but I shall attempt to recreate my prayer.
"Groudon, a Porygon has claimed Kyogre's eternal power. A pretender who claims to dictate what is right and wrong and whether something deserves to exist. This island is yours. The land and all that lives upon it owe their very life to you. And so, we beseech thee to right these wrongs. To show that the island is yours to rule. Please, take Glacia, her valiant spirit, her passion, and her heroic soul. Let Glacia be a part of you."
All the sacrificed Pokémon were absorbed into the black stone of the shrine. Everyone's prayers and sacrifices combined, seemed to wake something from within. A voice became audible, roaring through the earth. Steam rolled in, and I was unable to see." Interestingly, she seems to have made the executive decision to write any of Groudon's words in a bright red pen. Perhaps un-scholarly, but she couldn't completely quell her creative spirit. "This Island is not mine," it said. "It is yours."
A red shrine glowed through the steam fog, presumably the Red Orb based on my knowledge of Groudon. Some kind of energy blasted through the fog, likely Primal of some nature, appearing like light sinking into my remaining Pokémon as it gave them all glowing primal lines, as one might have seen on Primal Groudon.
"You must go now. I will open the way." The voice had said again. The ceiling itself split as a massive fissure rocked the cave, before a geyser blasted us up back into the sky. From there, our Pokémon managed to challenge the Porygon who had stolen Kyogre's Primal Energy. When we finally beat it, it seemed to come to its senses, before vanishing.
Shortly afterward, the Primal Energy within each of our own Pokémon slowly faded. While I did find a piece of technology that enabled my Pokémon to have the appearance of the primal lines once more, the power is no more. Perhaps temporary, or it returned where it came from. To Groudon, where it belonged. The knowledge is beyond me, but whatever the case may be, Groudon assisted us in our rescue of Beta Island, and claimed no ownership of such. "

"Hey!" Laguna shouted out loud as she casually pushed right into Professor Ash's lab. Hopefully, she wasn't interrupting anything important. "I uh, finished those notes that I told you I would make for you!"
She'd smile, clutching the little folder of papers close to her chest. It felt almost a little professional like she really was a trainer who came by to help a professor with some great discoveries. Now it was her turn to help out. It was all hand-written, with rather remarkable handwriting.
The first set of stapled pages is clearly information on the Bedrock Shrine. The second set contains information on Everworld, her trial, and Seta. And lastly, an attempt at drawing Seta is included. It's quite well done, considering her experience as an artist in real life. She might have taken a few artistic liberties, but she thought it was close enough to her memory.
"Here, you can take a look now if you want, or if you're busy, feel free to just read them later!" And with that, she'd lay the folder gently down atop Professor Ash's desk.

Laguna walks into the laboratory, an exhausted look on her face. She couldn't sleep, everything was a bit too much. The real world was too depressing right now. The budget was tight this month, and in truth, she didn't really want to think about complicated topics this late. It was easier to forget it all cuddling with her Pokemon instead of staring at the apartment that cost her so much.
It wasn't long until she received the message from Professor Ash, a request for an interview. Given everything that had occurred, it only made sense that the professor would want to know about what happened. Rubbing at her sleepy eyes, her recently recovered Bergmite was sliding about by her side as she entered the lab.
Without a second of hesitation, the woman flopped down into the seat and quietly listened to the explanations, the questions, and the like. She seemed... tense. As if she was hiding any exhaustion she might have had, instead of being blatantly obvious like herself. Laguna frowned, humming in thought. Glacia affectionately brushed against the Professor, as if he was asking to play, but now wasn't the time for such fun, unfortunately.
"Hmm, well, yeah I did catch a few. I have a uh, a cat that needs a good home." She'd gloss over it, it truly didn't seem to be the most important question here. What happened indeed. Definitely a lot to go over. and how exactly to talk about it... without explaining it in video game terms. Professor Ash certainly didn't know it was a video game, and wouldn't believe her if she said it.
Laguna yawned, stretching a bit before beginning. "Right, so like, Kyogre showed up, but it was flawed, right? Something was wrong, and it was all glitchy. It was attempting to regain its Primal Energy from the shrine, this sort of... ancient force of power it used to have. But we could hardly hit it, our attacks would go right through it, or it would go through the ground."
At the retelling of the story, Glacia finally began to understand it wasn't playtime, and hopped up into Laguna's lap to relax, like an oddly cold lapcat. "And... There's this Porygon out there that can talk, goes by the name C0D13. That's like, c zero d thirteen, but pronounced Cody. Dumb, but whatever.. He has tried to like, fix these kinda strange messes, but he was... kind of an asshole. Called me a repeat offender, for just fu-, ahem, freaking standing there. Anyways, he ends up arriving and somehow just had the power to like, temporarily just poof Kyogre from existence! And then he claims the primal power for himself like the selfish prick he is, apparently."
She sits up a bit straight in her chair, feeling oddly tense recounting the situation. "He summoned these like, mini versions of himself that tried to destroy literally everything. I think the primal power messed with his head, but he always was an asshole anyway. Point is, we had to find something else to counter Kyogre's stolen power. There's another shrine, underneath the crater. Bedrock Shrine. It held the power of Groudon... but it was asleep."
Laguna goes still for a moment, even as Glacia snuggles up closer. "We had to wake up the shrine, to gain the power of Groudon. He blessed us with his own primal power, but not after a great number of sacrifices..." She frowns, moving to lift up the Bergmite in her hands. He suddenly glitches right before their eyes, his ice-spikes filled with tv static, binary flashed across his eyes and the rest of his frozen body, his form even seemed to have an after-image after it moved. As if real life was lagging behind, almost.
"We had to sacrifice to him... And Glacia here, volunteered."
She let the silence hang for a moment, unsure exactly how else to share the rest for a moment. "Glacia... died. I, somehow, found the entrance to... the afterlife, essentially, after the fight. The Everworld as it's apparently called, and got her back. But it was, hard, and painful, I'll tell you that. I, kind of felt ill for a few days after that. My legs still feel like they are carved to bits."
She lowered the Bergmite back down onto her lap, and the glitches seemed to calm down for a while. The static still seemed to spark beneath a few of her spikes, but it wasn't as obvious as before. "Groudon blessed us trainers and our pokemon with his primal power after speaking to us, and we beat up and destroyed COD13. There are a good many forces that we just, don't understand, I guess? I got some like, something called Kyogre DNA in my bag, but I can't even touch it. Makes no sense to me."
Laguna sighed once more, rubbing at her own eyes. The exhaustion was certainly getting to her. "Sorry, I didn't really see Bunya much. I think she tried to have someone arrested for having an illegal cat, while we were fighting for our lives, so you know, that's not cool. But that's all I really know."
Glacia hopped down from her lap, skating across the room with her frozen feet. Her physical form flickered back and forth, as if the world didn't quite know where to place her. "I know that's not all like, super helpful, but maybe I can write down a few notes for you later? Like, exactly what Groudon said when he spoke to us, or about this Seta dude who apparently rules hell is like. Oh, sorry, Everworld. I'd do it now, but I'm very tired. Have you ever heard of this Everworld System Admin:ProfessorAsh ?"

Laguna had no idea how much time had passed, if any at all. She could hardly focus on anything. Her pokemon was gone.
So why did she keep hearing it's voice?
"Berg, Berg! Bergmite!"
It was so faint, barely even audible, but it was almost as if it was on loop. The worried, panicked tone present even now as it called out to her trainer. Over and over again. It sounded so weak, barely even able to make noise, and yet it still kept shouting its heart out.
Even now, she wanted to protect her. Even when she was dead, moments from being unable to ever return, Glacia wanted to help.
The cries burrowed into Laguna's head. She couldn't ignore it even if she tried, her heart broke. What was she doing? She hadn't failed, she was still there. This body might have given up, but her mind refused.
She had always been too stubborn for her own good.
And so she screamed. Screamed with every ounce of energy she had, forcing herself back onto her feet. They refused to carry her, but that didn't matter. She forced them to support her weight, forced them to move. Laguna let the tears fall, let herself cry out in pain, and yet she continued to move.
Each platform was considerably harder to reach than before, but she refused to stop and think about it. There was no time, no stopping, only leaping and climbing, over and over again. Every step painful, every breath difficult, and yet she still refused to give up. This might have been a game, and nothing was real, but that didn't matter. This world was ones and zeroes, nothing but code.
And yet, this world made her happy. Glacia made her happy, and that's what mattered.
At some point, she finally reached the last platform. The fog had thinned here, but the air was even thinner. Her body had been moving on auto-pilot for so long, she finally allowed herself a moment to pause and simple breathe as she looked around.
And yet, her Pokemon wasn't on the platform. She had arrived late, her fall had cost her everything.
Nearly everything.
Another cry filled the air, or what little of it remained, from behind her. Laguna quickly turned around to see her Bergmite was slowly floating out into the sky. Away from the platform, spinning as it desperately attempted to reach out to her.
Laguna didn't even think, she acted entirely on instinct. She leaped off the platform.
At some point, her arms wrapped around her Pokemon, physically holding her in her arms as she caught her. Whatever magic had been pulling the pokemon away had vanished, the two tumbling back down. Laguna's arms squeezed around Glacia, refusing to let her go even as they fell down, further and further through the clouds.
And through it all, Laguna was laughing. The widest smile on her face.
Glacia was home in her arms, she'd never leave again.

Pain.
That was the only thing she could focus on for the first few moments. Searing pain shot through her body. She was cold, her lungs ached, her legs were scratched to hell and back, and her nose was probably broken.
"It's just a game, it's just-" She tried telling herself, only to run out of air to even keep speaking. She gasped, groaning in pain as she laid atop a lower platform. She had slammed back-first into it, probably only a few feet below where she had attempted to jump. But now that she was lying down, her body was wanting to give out. The human body had ways of knowing when enough as enough, and her brain seemed to translate that to the game as well.
Her legs almost refused to move, she could barely even sit up if she tried. Laguna lifted her head, only to have it slump back into the frozen platform. Tears were already slipping from her eyes, staining her cheeks. The droplets freezing almost as soon as they touched the platform.
She failed.
The sound of Glacia's cry was so far away. It was so distant, she could hardly even hear it over her breathing.
It was just a game. And yet, why did she feel so terrible? Her Pokemon had sacrificed itself to protect the only world it knew, but it wasn't real. None of this was real, it was just a game... She could find another Bergmite, name it the same, like in past Pokemon games.
But it wouldn't be her. It wouldn't be Glacia, it wouldn't have her heroic spirit.
She laid there, tears silently spilling from her cheeks as she struggled to muster the energy to move.
There was nothing she could do, and so she wept.

She struggled to find the next platform for a time, only to realize that it was actually father upwards than she expected. There would be no simply jumping over to it and collapsing like before, she'd have to grab onto it with her hands and somehow managed to pull themself up.
There was no time to second guess herself, she had to climb. She once again went at it with a running leap, her hands desperately grasping at the platform. Her nails dug into the ice as she hung there helplessly for a few moments. Her arms strained to support her weight for a few moments before she finally managed to scramble on top.
Her hands had been torn up, but this was only a game. It didn't matter, the pain wasn't real. The throbbing in her head and the ache in her lungs also weren't real. She could ignore them. There wasn't anything bad that would happen if she hurt herself too bad, her character would be fine the next time she loaded up the game.
But Glacia might not be, and she only had one shot for this. Platform after platform, was climbed and scaled, seemingly going in some kind of spiral upwards. It was hard to truly tell with all the fog, no real sense of direction. Her body had taken a beating, however. Multiple slips, lungs screaming for air, and hands that had seen better days, Laguna was in terrible shape. After the latest platform, she had to spend a whole minute just attempting to catch her breath with what little air remained.
It was like torture, hanging what she wanted so desperately in front of her, only to continue moving the moment she got anywhere close. And the worst part of all was that she couldn't even see her pokemon.
And yet, she had to press on. She couldn't give up on Glacia.
She leaped for the next one, arms outstretched high once more. And yet, the platform was much closer than she could have told. The fog obscured her vision and she had no way of seeing it until she was right upon it.
Her face slammed into the platform, bloodying her nose as she tumbled down. Her hands desperately attempting to grasp for something, finding nothing but empty air.
She fell.

Standing up was the first step, and even that was a challenge. The ground was chunky, as if ice had frozen unevenly. It was simultaneously slippery and sharp at the same time. There wasn't any solid footing, she'd simply have to make do and hope the running shoes Mom gave her were enough.
Wobbling up to her feet, Laguna carefully made her way to the edge of the platform to look. No matter what, she was going to need a running jump. Something she already wasn't that good at, given that Laguna was still re-adapting to finer motor controls of her legs in general. But Glacia was worth it, she had to be.
Such heroism did not deserve anything less.
Laguna took a few steps back, her feet crunching onto broken ice with every step. Taking as deep a breath as she can, she finally pushed forwards. Pressing hard into the platform with her feet, she'd attempt to dash forwards, her feet threatening to slip out from beneath her with every step. Just at the very end of the platform, she leaped out into the fog.
She had managed to make it to the other platform, but her landing was far from perfect. Her feet had so little grip they slipped out from underneath her. Falling backwards, her vision went white as the back of her head slammed into the frozen ground. Her legs were scratched up, her head was pounding, and she had barely managed to prevent herself from just slipping directly off this platform after her rough landing.
"Ah, damn it!" The woman exclaimed as she tried to scramble back up to her feet. There was no time to examine her injuries, Glacia's cries were getting weaker and weaker, she had to keep going. Her little iceberg was counting on her.
"I'm coming! Please, d-don't go!"

The very first thing she notices was how hard it was to breathe. It felt silly, knowing all this was just virtual reality, a simulation, and yet breathing was difficult. It added to the realism, but it did genuinely freak her out. Would she have had an easier time if she didn't select the realistic pain option? She wanted to be able to fully feel and experience everything, but this... was almost too much.
Laguna gasped for air as she slowly looked around. She really couldn't see much at all, the fog obscuring her vision in every direction. She couldn't even tell where any light was coming from, it was all diffused through the fog. It was a little disorienting, and she hadn't even stood up yet. These platforms were frozen, slippery, keeping balance on just one was going to be a nightmare. Let alone trying to jump to another.
Her eye scanned all around as she attempted to take in what was going on. Had hell frozen over? And yet, in between her gasps for air as she desperately attempted to breath, she heard a noise.
A single cry echo outwards, freezing her in place.
"Berg-"
"Glacia!" Laguna immediately called out, only to regret the outburst of air. She had to take several deep breaths to come back from that. And yet, despite the struggle she called out again. "I'm here! I'm here! We're safe, we-" She has to pause to catch her breath, the struggle almost overwhelming.
The cry was heard again, but this time it was more distant. Her Bergmite was clearly moving away, as if it had no choice. The pain in their call almost evident, a lingering sadness that Laguna couldn't quite handle.
It was then she realized just what she had to do. Laguna had to chase her.

Ryan was his pokemon? That was such a simple name for a Pokemon, it was kind of adorable! She stretched her legs slowly, attempting to regain her balance. Before she could respond, Lucky had appeared! She hadn't seen him since she left Mom's house. She'd wave her hand over towards him, only to pause in confusion. "Oh, no I know where to go-"
She had studied the map plenty, she had already even planned out her route! Before she could audibly complain, however, someone new arrived wearing a kimono. Was everyone just doing the same tutorial at once? She quite frankly didn't know what to make of it. Did the professor really just have a boatload of packages to be sent? What exactly was the excuse?
In any case, one of Lucky's next words struck a nerve. Lead these two? As in, her and Manish? He had just arrived himself! It wasn't as if he knew any better! Laguna's frustration was obvious as she pouted quite visibly. Perhaps she was overreacting... but she had enough of people trying to lead her places in person.
"Uhuh, right. Oh, lead the way, fearless leader. We all have the same map, you know!" She'd turn to Manish, a soft smile quickly replacing her annoyed expression. "Of course, you can come with. If you're not great at swimming, I can wait for you or even help you across, huh?"
She'd finally let out a sigh and slide down to the river's edge. As a Swimmer, this really wasn't a challenge at all. She'd slip right into the shallow river and promptly make her way into the middle of the water. Her legs kicking in the water, Laguna's movements for once graceful compared to the unbalanced awkward way she ran.
